Its a sign of over regulation and an extremely litigious culture.The only way to make money is on the edge of the law. Any new breakthroughs immediatly get buried in regulations + legal moat. China then steals the idea and sells the improved version back to you while the original creators get dragged on to geriatric senate hearings and dogpiled by all of the letter agencies trying to justify their existence. Near the end of the hype cycle zuckerberg renames his company to "the current thing" and tries to buy his way into relevance. This cycle repeats every 10 years or so.
