I was lambasted by a senior employee and I dont know if i should move companies. How hard is it for these types to give a simple correction rather than chastise people for asking a question thats never readily answered? It was more of shooting the messenger kind of moment.
Situation entails an event that was out of my jurisdiction and an employee in a superior position berated me over a misunderstanding and told me to not attempt to handle it because it was not my department. Field service implied that assistance was needed from a separate department and attempting to follow up on the field service's request thats where the frustration began.

>>61442273Yeah but i like to know that I'm doing my job effectively rather than pushing the issue onto someone else.Problem is that I could ask people in my department about this similar scenario and I don't think many people will answer it correctly. I'm probably going to do that and report to my management. The issue is with the public treatment that happened and its pretty evident this isnt a one off thing thats why im just asking around even here. Id love to just keep pushing the problem onto someone else but i care about improving my skills in my field.
>>61442246Was the situation your fault? If not, try to either transfer out from under the asshole or change jobs to another company that looks like it has a decent work culture.I had a manager once who chewed me out for 20 minutes because I got my work done in two days instead of the two weeks (or more) he expected it to take me. He'd assigned me some shitty debugging problem after I finished everything else he'd assigned and I tracked down the bug in a few hours. There's just no pleasing some assholes and it's better to find work somewhere else rather than put up with them.

Don't quite understand it, someone senior who isn't your direct manager told you to do/not do something? Where I am even if a director has an issue with me they have to take it up with my manager, they have no real power to tell me to do or not do anything. They can pressure my manager to come down on me sure, but they themselves can't tell me to do anything. If the person who isn't my manager shouts or berates me then it's a HR issue after I put what happened in writing and send it to them. Also I work in IT, have done for 16 years, but I am looking to move away from it now. I am watching pic related play out in front of my eyes and see where the field is heading in general.

>>61442329just grow a spine and stand up to him next time, asking for clarification on an issue is not a crime and not outside of your purview to ASK. Your manager is a ridiculous dickhead who is out of line.
just quiet quit cuckold
>>61442246Was it a jeet? If so, you got -1000 izzat.
>>61442329The correct course of action is to keep asking valid questions and if they fire you for asking a fucking question, you have your answer.
>>61442246how do i get a job in IT with no certs? im a neet with a CS degree and i need to get off my ass. junior coding jobs are gone. crypto is dead. im doomed to a life with the saars
