555 KB JPG>be manager/hiring manager managing engineers>hire people based on how much you like them over how qualified they are>the engineers they do hire only get promoted based on how good their social skills are, the managers are too egotistical to ever admit that turnover is a bad thing..If a large engineering comapny is lagging behind or failing, this is the reason. Simple as. Find a tech comapny who just got aquired by a larger organization and is re organizing using this boomer ideology, you can safely bet against it.Its fucked up, the jocks who bullied us in HS(i didnt get bullied i was a loner and ready to stab so people stayed away) are now dragging down technological and economic progress by forcing themselves into our space. I swear its like they teach u to make people's lives harder then u get an MBA..
it makes sense to hire based on social skills anon, especially if the person is managing money and relationships, there's no way they would hire an autist if he can't even socialize with the clients, its a risk for everyone, i think they do this because of clients, its not just a company issue, clients will bolt if they sense the slightest mishap
>>61444947The problem with some engineers is that they can't focus and can't see the bigger picture. I say this as an engineer myself, the ones with drive choose to focus on autistic crap that doesn't benefit the product at all. They will gladly waste time doing inane crap. Driveless engineers will fuck the product and change jobs every 2 years to stay away from their mistakes. Don't get me wrong though, I completely agree with your view on most managers. Sadly they are just human but should really be the best of us. Their ecosystem mostly favors the social skill of spitting out AI slop instead of actual critical thought. Goes without saying, but not all of them (engineers and managers alike) are like this.
>>61444993Not for engineering u MBA faggot. We dont socialize with the clients, thats the ficking managers job. U think technology is about human relations? U think genuines have good personalities? Im an avergae engineer with good social skills, i am in a position i shouldnt be cuz its so easy to manipulate u. Recently I became a legit good engineers and it just pisses me off on how much that doesnt matter to managers
>>61445030I change jobs ever year but not beacuse i make mistakes.. U can easily stop an engineer from wasting ur companies time by simply telling them not to do it. I have never seen anyone do what u describe. The most autistic ones actually work way harder than me, I dont even get my 40 but I know how to BS the managers but I would rather be allowed to try new ideas to make the company money and get compensated a percentage instead of a measly 5k bonues they think is enough for me to do anything but wipe my ass with it...
>>61444947Oh look, it's another autistic puzzleman who thinks that engineering is about sitting in a corner doing calculations like he was taught in uni.>Why won't I get promoted to manage people when I have no people skills?
>>61445498Well its mostly ecad and reading through data sheet but layout includes calculations. I have to do calculations when designing antennas and filters.. Bascially none of it is social skills, all my conversations are technical. In technical conversations u are either right or wrong, no in-between
>>61444993true but his picture depicts a specific field where social interaction is not as important. Technical, detailed, mathematical evaluation is key.The TRUTH is A and O
>>61445030>The problem with some engineers is that they can't focus and can't see the bigger pictureThats the problem with our lectures. We were never taught to see the bigger picture. I was top in my class and felt like the king. First months doing my actual job and felt like an idiot, due to this lacking interconnection of different departments(regulatory, clinical, manufacturing, logistics, change management etc.)but if you were good in school and actually intelligent you'll learn this rather quickly and that when youll be forced outside your comfort zone and NEED to socially interact.
>>61445524>>61445542sry for being contradictorytechnical detail is most important, yet with social interaction you can "gracefully and subtley convince or pursuade" e.g the manufacturer to minimize tolerance (he naturally wants to save time and will mostly pick rougher methods)
>>61445542Okay and I was bottom of my class and was also retarded. U will always be retarded compared to engineers who have been working on the same product for 10 years>focus in the big picture Like making money? U make money by selling products, u sell products by having superior or cheaper products. Simple as
>>61445509So what you're saying is that you're a junior engineer who has no intention of ever progressing to become a senior. If you actually want to learn, I recommend you read these two textbooks:>The Making of an Expert Engineer>The NASA Systems Engineering HandbookHopefully they will teach you that engineering is much more than the tiny bubble in which you operate.
>>61444947you are not wrong
>>61445915There hasn't been one piece of good engineering in the last 50 years faggot, take your books and engineer them up your ass.
>>61445915Im a senior engineer and going to be principle very soon. Design work is junior level stuff lol? Im not mechanical, im electrical. I do real engineering including simulation and design. Not reading that MBA slop. What makes a excpert engineer is dopamine, plain and simple. The key to everything. U are interested in something? Then u have dopamine. U have dopamine(and seretonin)? Congrats u got the energy and brainpower to figure anything out
>>61445947Ye, technology didnt change at all in the last 50 years...
>>61444947Can you imagine if they let incels run the world? lmaoooo
>>61446302They did lmao
>>61446302U think Elon and zucchini and bezos wouldnt be incels if they were low level engineers?
