Why didnt i start caring about money and investments until my mid 30's?I see other guys, way younger than me, even in their teens, who are already min-maxing money & investmentsI dont understand, how do some guys get switched on to this so early? It's crazy to me when I see 20 year olds already making millions in investments or running businesses making millions, at their age I all cared about was if I got a new piece of loot on WoWThe question I guess is, how do some young guys really get focused on this stuff so early, it's clearly giving them a gigantic advantage over guys like me who dont start until way later in life.Do they have business oritanted families or something? My family never spoke about money or investments, anything finances related was NEVER spoken about by my parents to me at all, and no one else in my family spoke about that stuff either. The only thing I heard about investing from my parents is one day when my uncle lost $10k in the stock market like in the 1990's one time and I distinctly remember my parents saying "Yeah the stock market is a scam!"Now I feel like im running out of time to build up a portfolio because I started so late, ive lost 20 years of compounding
>>61447769I unironically became interested in this topic from browsing this board. Back before it was complete raw ass cheeks the odd informative posts that popped up here and there taught me a lot. Not a single person in my family would have set me up for this mentality otherwise.
I’m so wealthy!
>>61447769Usually you're influenced by someone in your personal life. For me, I lift weights and read about economics and finance because of my older brother's influence.
>>61447769From what I understand the guys who start early had some kind of grift going on as a kid, like reselling candy, which is probably the biggest developmental advantage possible for entrepreneurs, not rich parents, in my opinion.Obviously having rich parents well connected parents that already run businesses helps. Why go into employment when you can skip straight to running a business with the expenses already paid?
>>61447769Contrarianism and anhedonia. I saw my coworkers spending their money on useless shit and whores and decided not to.
I have interests in investing going all the way back to the early 2000s when I was playing RuneScape in high school. That game nearly ruined my life but it gave me many lessons in discipline and risk management. I applied those skills to college, work, investing, and now my early retirement.
>>61447769I was interested in investing from my early 20s, I made some decent investments but my main interest was making games, I couldve probably had hundreds of thousands if I just put all my money in a tracker but I didn't however I'm now late 30s and I'm a millionaire and that wealth came from my games not investing so its never too late bro
