Yes, but more accurately, it's a tax on people who want the best quality that a good can offer, but are too lazy to research what defines good quality and resort to buying overpriced goods from popular brands.
>>62261831Not reallywhen you are extremely rich, not poor larpers you just naturally buy designer items. Theyre higher quality, look better and are simply just nicer.. There is virtually nothing else to buy plus some designs are really cool looking
>>62261831ThisAnd some retards here defend it>>62261854>>62262348Designer things are exactly what op means. The only justified cause to buy expensive things is with food.
>>62262401thats only if u are poor rich people buy designer all the time for their own reasons
>>62262348>designer itemsgo look up who makes the suits of heads of states. they're established brands you've never heard of, not garish "designer brands."
>>62261831If the "what strangers think" gets you pussy? What then?
>>62261831>>62262441>AYYYY MAYNE HOW ANYONE KNOW DAT IT BE LUXXXXURY IF IT AINT GOT DA EM'BLEM ON IT???? HUH NIGGA??????
>>62261854> but are too lazy to research what defines good quality and resort to buying overpriced goods from popular brands.A lot of truth in this - if I need a suitcase and I am rich, I can just go to wherever it's in stock and buy a Samsonite set for $800. Except I can't, because it's an absurd price if you don't make literally 300k on top of multi-million NW or clear escape trajectory. So you go research other brands or go shop for deals at TJ Maxx or whatever your local discount store is.It's a humiliation ritual for sure, because "good" brands are now trash quality and "luxury" brands are now overpriced as shit, so being poor (middle class falls under this now) forces you to bargain hunt and waste a bunch of times.Companies will deliberately underdesign shit to force you into luxury shit. For example, Hyundai put drum brakes in the rear just so you feel like a cuck on base models, even though it's not cost-effective for them to make drum brakes anymore.> flightsThere is real benefit to business class, but yes, they make sure it's overt that you are sitting, waiting for them to board. If you go to a comedy show, "VIP" is just a display - you wait more for drinks, in line to take pictures, etc.Clothing is just shit now - I don't know where to get t-shirts. I have 15 year old Old Navy t-shirts that are in excellent conditions, and I have 2-year old J.Crew t-shirts that are literally in shreds from the same wash cycles.Running shoes make a real difference. So it's a little both. If you mean "luxury" like designer bags and Lambos, then yea, of course. The problem is that non-embarrassing t-shirts, travel bags that don't fall apart, decent food, etc are all luxuries to normal people insofar that they aren't really attainable.I needed a sports jacket for work. The only one that wasn't cucked was like $600 or something, Ralph Lauren iirc, but I don't give a shit about brand. Ended up just going in a dress shirt.
>>62262420>for their own reasonssee>>62261831>"Luxury" is just a tax on people who care about what strangers think
Not really. There's nothing like living in a 5 star hotel for a month. You get treated like a king, have access to all your worldly desires. Roasties come over fresh direct so they can take mirror photos and flex on other roasties. Life is good op.
>>62262441Except those "established brands" also cost a shitload and are luxury. The distinction you are making is that Gucci, etc is for the middle class to flex. I agree. The distinction I am making is that the middle class can't afford to dress ok (well fitted, no logos, not going to fall apart after a wash, decent design).
>>62262444Checked that we have the normie paradox. But why do old people or married people with kids still do it?
>>62262467Pussy is like money, if you have none you're glad for anything thrown your way, and if you have lots you'll still want more.
>>62262466i don't wear a suit (because i dress like a fat nigger slob) but if it's anything like my peasant garb, you probably have to pay a lot of money to get anything worth wearing. by which i mean, there's only so much you can do with tailoring when e.g., the base material is bottom grade slop, or the cut is completely fucked from the get-go.
>>62261831>t. bourgeois slave
>>62262457lol rich people arent flexing 2k bags retard haha theyre flexing much bigger thingsbuying a 2k bag for them is like u shopping at old navy and buying a t shirt.
>>62262492suits make you look like a clown if you wear them casually while walking around the city. only chad could pull that off but its hard to not laugh when you see the nerdy types do it
>>62262660>lol rich people arent flexing 2k bags retard haha theyre flexing much bigger thingsYou just further validate the point thats its for so called flexing. So what op already said.
>>62262479A 80 year old grandpa wont get young women because he wears an expensive shirt or something. And a married guy with kid risks his family.
>>62262731what exactly is that lizard zuck flexing with? hardly even remember seeing him anywhere, even elon is known more for saying dumb things than driving with a ferrari or wearing some gay brands
>>62261831One time I snuck into first class on a plane. Well I just sat in an empty seat when I got on and nobody said anything. If I was a frequent flyer and had the money, I'd probably never fly economy.
>>62262756very stupid post considering how zuckerberg was wearing ostentatious balmain logo clothes during his personality refresh
>>62262770jews don't understand fashion or propriety. it's likely connected to their fascination with niggers and nigger culture.
>>62262458> Roasties come over fresh direct so they can take mirror photos and flex on other roasties. Life is good op.Im so lucky girls cant flex on me. Retired at 25.
>>62262348>Theyre higher qualitylol I've gotten luxury brand designer clothing and it doesn't last at *all*. When you're extremely rich you don't have to care about quality because you can replace it with couch cushion money.
>>62261831Speak for yourself Frogge. I want to wake up in a luxury bed with a luxury pillow, in a luxury room with an iconic Renaissance-like ceiling art, surrounded by luxury women with one making luxury breakfast using my luxury pots as I plan my first class ride on the plane I'll get there using the luxury speed train to go to a luxurious party on someone's luxurious yacht.
>>62262458There are different levels to wealth and you just proved my point in two ways:Caring about randoms (roasties)Overpaying for utility (accomodation)
>>62262453>Hyundai put drum brakes in the rear just so you feel like a cuck on base models, even though it's not cost-effective for them to make drum brakes anymoreqrd? idk anything about cars but I'm curious
>>62263180Comfy. I get pissed off at how terrible modern rich people's artistic, aesthetic, and architectural taste is. I had chatgpt spec me what it would cost to build my fantasy house (not THAT large, maybe 5k sq ft MAX) and it told me $20m because I would have to hire custom artisans and artists to be able to recreate ancient architecture with modern engineering techniques. I'll never be able to afford that, obviously.Fashion is another place where the rich lack imagination or artistry. The best fashion designers of the past all had muses and understood that the real attraction, the real art is the model. The fashion only exists to frame and give perspective to the model and their features in different lights. All true good fashion is bespoke and individualized. But that's besides the point. I thrift a lot of my clothes, and while I'd love to wear clothing that represents me, my favorite bands or artist merch, or else merch from some media or artist/designer I like, either fall apart in the wash or are ludicrously expensive.
>>62263180> luxury women You’re ngmi. No such thing as that. For every attractive wealthy girl, there is a better looking one in the underclass. But they all wall at 25.
>>62263180Spending spending spending. I hate poors so much.
>>62263180wow trump is here?
>>62263655Luxury women is about their character and their looks. Most women have bad character, the same way most men dk
>>62261831at least rich people are paying some sort of tax. My main reason is I think rich people have an obligation to help the working class. I go buy luxury goods or services and the people that serve me get tons of money. I am helping them out by buying expensive stuff. Then they go buy more stuff. And on and on. It's how I get my money back into the hands of filthy peasants
When I was poor I always thought rich people were getting scammed for paying premium prices for products and services that weren't much better than what wagies would buy. I assumed that they had lost touch with reality and that people were taking advantage of their ignorance. But when I began to hang around wealthy people, I realized that they knowingly and happily pay a lot more because the high prices serves as a barrier to entry for the riff raff of society that they don't want to rub shoulders with. They're not getting scammed. They just don't want you to sit at the table or lay on the sunbed next to them, and they're willing to pay a lot of money to ensure that doesn't happen
>>62264017there's a line to thatfor example I will never go on another cruise ship no matter how big the suite is. As soon as you step out the door you're in a crowd of very poor, very loud people.but I will stay at a mid-priced resort because the people there are at least upper middle class, and a lot of them are really interesting to talk to. Some of us do like to slum sometimes. Just not too ghetto.
>>62264017what is it about money that makes the piss float upto their heads. no amount of money would make me want to spend my days golfing with fags and eating babies. money is a tool, not something thats supposed to define you
>>62264036Almost everyone who isn't outright poor does it when you think about it. It's like how most ordinary wagies avoided Spirit Airlines like the plague. They'd rather pay a bit more to fly with a regular airline and avoid being stuck in a metal tube with the kinds of people who fly Spirit
>>62262420Correct.>>62262348>>62261831Rich people luxury stuff will usually be very subtle. The difference is largely in the quality of the goods themselves, the materials, the finish, etc. You could wear a comfy pair of Loro Piana vicuna sweatpants and no one besides a vicuna autist would know it's anything but a brown pair of sweats. Same for a bespoke suit from a Saville Row tailor. White gold or platinum watch on a leather band.Poor people luxury stuff MUST be loud and obnoxious. They NEED to broadcast from a mile away that they PAID A LOTTA MONEY for this shit. "HEY EVERYONE THIS BELT IS FROM GUCCI AND IT'S AN ARMANI EXCHANGE T SHIRT!!!" DANG THAT REAL GOLD WATCH ALL ICED OUT TOO YALL!!!"Key here is that for actually rich people this luxury stuff displays zero flex. It MIGHT be nicer, they might buy it, but whether a suit is $2k or $12k it's kinda irrelevant if someone is worth $100MM, it doesn't say anything.
>>62261854Contrarian opinion here: i find many luxury items less reliable than their high end general public counterpart. The most obvious example is cars. Everybody knows that Bentley cars are not reliable at all. Yet a high end Lexus will be very reliable. Same goes for shoes. A high end Geox pair of shoes will be more confortable and last longer than luxury shoes that cost a thousand dollars. The thing is, with general public goods, the product has a lot more feedback than luxury goods that are produced in limited series. Thus the flaws are more eliminated, and the production process constantly improved. That is if they do not put planned obsolescence in it.
>>62262458That's overstated. 4 stars hotels as almost as good as 5 stars. Some large 4 stars hotels, who have a lot of amenities, feel even better than small 5 stars.
>>62263180Rich people are even worse than upper middle class. You feel you can never trust them.
many things can be considered luxury that still add a benefit>buying a rtx 5090 over a 5070>fast sports car or behemoth truck>large primary housebut really at the end of the day, luxury just means a lifestyle premium that most normoids don't ever get to access>>62265995kek look at this poorfag in denial
