Post and discuss DDs here.

Didn't post last thread (was trying to not buy much, failed spectacularly and even bought the new VM coat rip), but recently scored a VM DD! I'm so excited to get it in the mail sometime. Missed out on the IW Corset Tucked Flare JSK twice, rip. I'm beyond hype that Silent Moon should be getting a rerelease.

(I know someone is selling Gardenberries in BST but it's missing all the detachable parts.)

Well my list is the same as always. I'd be interested in the Roland or any remotely similar Boz jacket in any fabric (as long as it is light green), and in the Moonlight Forest jsk on the top left in any color, with or without the faux fur.

This gorgeous dress is my number one priority!

The auction ended at ¥96,111. Jfc.
>>
>>10007489
I messaged Moitie and they were aware of the auction. They said they don't have the patterns for all old pieces anymore, so they couldn't promise a rerelease, but they were aware of the demand. Fingers crossed I guess!
>>
>>
>>10007533
>don't have all the old patterns anymore
This kinda makes me sad. I know it's not like you can just make a new one licketysplit, but it's not impossible that someone could look at the old dress and try to recreate the pattern, right? Especially if they had access to the dress itself
>>
>>10007596
You are correct, any trained patternmaker (or experienced tailor/seamstress) could easily trace off the pieces from an existing dress without damaging it and recreate the pattern. It would be harder to do accurately without access to the dress itself, maybe they don't have one? Did Mana burn all his old Moitie?

They will most likely just release something inspired by old pieces rather than outright replicating them so it seems, like neo-gothic arch.
>>
>>10007673
good. you had such a shitty attitude in the last thread i bid against you till the end just because i was hoping you wouldn't get it. Not disappointing I didn't get it though as the black colorway is superior.

Aww, sorry anon. I guess we can all keep praying for a rerelease
>>
>>10007601
I know that Jetj has the similar issue with dragon chan and someone offered theirs for the remake. I don’t know if anyone has done the same for Moitie but they did say similar things for Iron gate.

I do think that keeping a pattern for 15 years seems like a long shot, and maybe the designer at the time owns it? We got stuff that Alice made but she seemed ok with the work being redone, so maybe they would need to reach out to the person they had then?
>>
>>10007860
even if they didn’t have the pattern that’s simple enough to draft out.
>>
>>10007860
It is kind of interesting from a cultural perspective... Many US and European design houses and clothing brands keep their patterns indefinitely, and will occasionally pull something from the archives or even offer to custom make things they've made in the past.
>>
>>10007903
As far as I know brands do that as well. Baby has their press room with one of each piece made, but it would seem like AP and even Moitie might have cleared out their old stock over the years.
>>
>>10007601
Maybe it's just a nice way of saying they don't want to do it?
>>
>>10007863
They also need to hire someone to do so if they went for it. It may be a respect thing of wanting approval too.

>>10007906
Ap seems to keep dresses. At DMC they did do a fashion show of Ap dresses during the last decade I believe. This implies they provided all the outfits and so must keep them. But Ap is bigger and likely can hold onto stuff like that.

>>10007908
So far they seem receptive to what is wanted. They added bigger sizing and accurate measurements from the survey and rereleased things even if it is a bit different. Cross op is a big thing to redo for example. I can see not wanting to remake iron gate but a full shirred dress would be a smart idea.
>>
>>10007934
>>10007906
Ap keeps their dresses. They had a B-Grade sample sale last year? I think. Someone spotted a mint Honey cake in the dresses.
>>
>>10007965
Well they did have that big press room/sample sale a while back which leads me to believe they may have cleared out at least some.

I found it after some digging, damn I can't believe I missed it for 5k yen. Has anyone ever found out what ss she uses? Also, wasn't mad at first, but it's sketchy/deceptive not to mention the yellowing, the original seller did, but rainies claims it's in "very good condition". If she's gonna scalp for more than double the price she might as well be honest.
>pic related, from original mercari poster
Sorry for the large pic, just want to help any gulls that want to buy it. The original seller machine washed it (with a neutral detergent) and the yellowing was still there.
>>
>>10009889
Rainies is far past sketchy, its definitely not the first time she snags something with listed damages and relists it for double with said damages unmentioned.
>>
>>10009889

It’s wishful thinking but we all know garbage scalpers don’t give a shit. If only LM would ban rainies, gemgem, and chestnutlili.

>>10009961
I’ve bought from Rainies before (before I knew of her issues). She doesn’t wash her shit, especially not shit she’s just immediately reselling.
>>
>>10010019
This. I bought a DD from her and it seemed fine, but it came out of the first wash a significantly lighter ivory than it went in. I felt so sick when I realised that I had worn an unwashed dress, it didn't smell but it was still gross.
>>
>>10010022
Don't ever wear a 2nd hand dress without washing it first. How disgusting do you have to be? That's so nasty.
>>
>>10010026
I always wash my shit before selling :( why can’t y’all do this
>>
>>10009961
ayrt, I said that the dress was already washed by the original owner and the yellowing persisted? You still need to disclose damage, especially stains that stuck after attempts to remove it. How is this a rumor? And the point would be not to list them at the price she (((you))) paid. It's not even not disclosing, it's blatantly lying that it's in very good condition. This has nothing to do with "not washing your dresses" this is about physical damage, not just smells and feelings of use.

Trying to get this thread back on track,

>>
>>10010026
It's a very valuable dress and it got lost in the mail and arrived the day before I flew out to an event. I wasn't going to wash such a precious dress myself especially considering that overwashing can cause wear. There was not enough time to get it dry cleaned. And anyway, I thought it would be fine since it smelled like nothing, still looked like the stock photos just a little darker, and I assumed it had been washed because most people aren't animals and wash before sending

>East Asian lolitas don't wash their brand because they don't sweat in the same way, but Western lolitas have no excuse

that's not true. nobody has an excuse, because it's not just about sweat. It's also about natural skin oils, dirt from sitting on it or wearing it and all kinds of scents that just stick to clothing.
>>

As far as I know closetchild only accepts stuff after seeing a bill from dry cleaners
>>
>>10010532
No, all you need to sell is your ID and items of the brands they carry
>>
This discussion on washing is so weird to me because it's obvious 99% of western lolitas don't attempt washing at all as if it's a common thing (usually because of being afraid of damaging the items, color bleeding, etc.) If you follow the washing discussions that pop up on Rufflechat about once a month most girls claim this.

Like, I agree about washing, but I doubt gulls here wash/dry clean/etc. all their shit either, especially if they have to spend more money to do so.
>>
>>10010876
I handwash, and occasionally machine wash all of my lolita, so it always surprises me how childish and dumb so many girls are when it comes to lolita. The clothes in general aren't as delicate as people make them out to be. they can handle washing, they are meant to be worn... which means washing can be done as well...

>>
>>10010910
>>10011197
Ok, but there's also been cases of dresses that have fallen apart after literally one wash without warning, and even when they had washing methods specified. That's why washing threads can be such a common topic even on here sometimes. Also, some people only handwash as >>10010910 say, or spot treat. Color can run or become lighter even after one or multiple washes, too.

>>10010022
For example, how do you not know it was the ivory color on its own that ran/faded or became "significantly lighter"? Genuinely curious as to which dress this is too. It's rare for an entire dress to become lighter unless it's a design issue, even if it was worn a few times beforehand.

>>10010919
It's on topic to the current thread, why would it be taken to the general?
>>
>>10011399
>It's on topic to the current thread, why would it be taken to the general?
Because this is the dream dress thread. We share and discuss dream dresses and not general laundry advice for the xth time. It's a thread derailer.

>>10011399
i agree with you and there are some dresses that are older that are more fragile no matter how hard you
try to be careful. color running is an issue however, id be livid spending that much money and it was absolutely trashed after two or three washes. i buy clothing to last me, and lolita actually is pretty decent quality in terms of how it's built and how it holds up, of course this is if you look at the right stuff (obviously a velveteen screenprint WILL NOT hold up the same as a plain printed dress, but in the same tier, obviously that print is going to fade much faster than a solid piece)

anyways back on topic;

This isn't a brand-specific thing, though. Most clothes will last longer when washed gently (especially fast fashion). It's just that people don't care about how damaging washers are until the item is expensive and difficult to replace.

how much would you be willing to spend for pink

Rose Ribbon Embroidery

Idk the prices it goes at are so inconsistent. Pink is my least favourite colourway though so I guess 300? Depending on the condition I guess I can negotiate

I've seen the tailor's bear OPs floating around, but I'd prefer the skirt cut. Thank you, anon!
>>
>>10010910
Do you have any satin or velveteen? I wear gothic so I have some odd AtPie and BPN pieces that are really lovely but I'm hesitant to wear them because dry cleaning my coats left them feeling not very nice
>>
>>10012526
I very gently handwash velveteen pieces. They all have dry cleaning labels but desu I have yet to experience any issues and doing it this way makes them more accessible to me (I'd never wear them if I always had to dry clean them). But then again I love all my velveteen pieces and have no intention of selling them, I suppose if you're considering second hand value you might act differently

>old DD pops up
>right cut, right color, good condition
>mfw Rainies is the seller

Well then, no DD for me

If any of you are interested in Visual Kei (due to mana on the cover) we currently have very active a discord group with lots of fans of 90's/2000s music including malice mizer stuff:

I have some atelier pierrot that I actually machine wash despite it saying dry clean only. Nothing bad has ever come from it. Just throw it in a garment bag and wash on a gentle cycle with gentle detergent. All my pieces are shantung, so it might depend.
>>
I'd take just the OP but any of the matching accessories as well would be the cherry on top.

Oh maybe, thanks for the heads-up.. I'm one of the people you replied to. I do love me some Xa-Vat.

she buys stuff (sometimes snatching auctions from lolitas who honestly want the item) and resells it for a really marked up price. also lies about stains etc when selling and is generally a bitch.
>>
>>10013436
Anon, just buy it. Idgaf where my dream dress pops up, I'm buying that lacy bitch
>>
>>10013690
There's a scalper thread in the archive with all her shady shit.
>>
>>10012529
I also hand wash velveteen. I don't really understand why people say it's a problem. I carefully wash the waistties first when I can and compare it to the dress to make sure it's ok.
I don't really like not washing things in water.
The tags also say dry clean only.

Anyone see this around? either colourway. I know there's an OP on LM but I like the bodice on the JSK more.

I desperately need more velveteen in my wardrobe. Also I live near a closet child and I'll keep an eye out for other gulls!

Man, I think I saw that on Y!J at least a year or two ago. I still have it bookmarked but the listing has been deleted so I can't get any details, sorry.

I'm sorry anon, I've been dreaming about it for quite a while too and was tired of stalking second hand websites for it. But I'm sure you'll either find it again soon (for much cheaper) or it will really get a re-release. Like the other anon said, the chances are pretty good since it's a rather simple design. I remember the first time they questioned us for what we'd like to see re-released after Wunderwelt's company got involved and a lot of people requested this and Pleats OP. They definitely know how sought after it is.

I just saw it! Thank you (EU seller as well so no customs fee!)

Thank you! I'm going to try it very very carefully. I've actually sold things I was afraid to wear because they were delicate looking materials, I know it's stupid to be so worried but I just want to care for the dresses
>>
>>10015352
If it makes you feel any better I've dumped my Pierrot in the wash (gentle, cold, in a laundry bag) and it was fine, even my boned corset dresses. Poly is pretty damn hardy in my experience.

>>10015352
just don't put it in the dryer imo. I machine wash all of my lolita (cold water, gentle cycle, in a garment bag) and jsut lay it out to dry. Occasionally the torchon lace needs to be pulled back into place while wet, but otherwise nothing bad has happened. I don't wear/own any prints though. Poly should be good in a wash, but don't dry it.
