Time for a new thread, as #23 went by pretty fast (for /cgl/ standards at least)

Keep it /cgl/-related! Cosplay or J-fashion like Lolita/Brolita, Aristocrat, Kimono, Nanchatte, etc.!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

ITT you may post:
- Useful guides that can be applied to crossplaying/crossdressing
- Questions, help, sharing advice to improve your appearance to pass temporary as the opposite gender (Male -> Female, Female -> Male)
- pictures of crossplay/crossdressing coords, selfposts
- personal experience/stories regarding crossplay/crossdressing

NOT allowed:
- Anything in sexual context/fetish stuff
- Anything related to gender transition like hormones, operation etc.; >>>/lgbt/ might be the better place for this
- Casual crossdressing without any /cgl/-context

Reposting in the new thread. I've had the thought of crossplaying for a while, but it has to be the right character. I bought one of the Miccostumes Catwoman costumes, it actually fits me quite well and I find it comfortable but don't think I'd be brave enough to wear it in public. For something I'd actually wear to a con I've been considering Ozen from Made in Abyss, with some not too ridiculous platforms I'd actually be her character height of 2m.
>>
Anyone know any crossplayers that are not weird to follow on social media? I'm trying to find like minded people that treat it as a hobby and not a fetish lifestyle
>>
I myself like Nanchatte seifuku, classic lolita and Otome-kei (and like not ott kawaii clothes in general). However as of now I have only worn Nanchatte as its both my favorite and also the easiest to do due to not being elaborate/ott. Despite this Im actually not into cosplay, despite that the latter gets confused with cosplay a lot.

Personally I do not like nor want to try to pass as female. I think it looks better that way and makes it easier on my end (maybe it looks like its not a fetish to people) since wearing Nanchatte is very easy for people to think you are doing it for some creepy schoolgirl fetish shit and almost all pictures of men wearing schoolgirl fetish shit, wear wigs or have long hair and try to actually look like a little girl.

As far as actually wearing the clothes, the times I have worn it in public, I did not seem to get any negative response. But I cannot say too much on this as I have not actually worn it out very much for various reasons.

If anyone does want to see how I style/coordinate each coord (and how I try to negate it looking like schoolgirl fetish rubbish) I will go into detail of that if you ask.

And I do have a question about being a Brolita... Do you need to actually try to look female to wear lolita, or can you just do like what I currently do and not at all try to look like a female?

that seems like a good idea but honestly the wig and makeup seems pretty hard. do you have any examples of cosplayers doing her?

I have seen Ozen cosplays, but they're usually shorter girls and trying to be sexy. Ozen is absolutely not supposed to be a "sexy" character, she's supposed to be a tall, imposing presence. I've looked around online and I can purchase a wig and as I've cosplayed a drow fighter before I'm not too concerned about the makeup. Her makeup isn't very extreme, just gotta pale the skin with certain highlights and detail to make it look realistic pale. I'd just need to get a pair of platform boots with a heel to make boot covers for and I'd get her 6'7" (2m) character height. I figure heeled boots would also help my walking look more graceful/feminine/ whatever the correct descriptor would be.
>>
>>10887573
if you wear lolita as a male and don't pass, you will immediately be accused of being a predator/fetishist.
>>
>>10887626
Cheap platforms are available, but you should get demonia trinity boots.

#shill idc they're nice boots and people will like you more for wearing them, it is that easy.

>>10887573
As a rule of thumb you should be female, and we all know we're breaking that, but if you don't want to look feminine then I'd hesitate. I don't know how to reconcile the fashion with a disinterest in being remotely femme.
>>
>>10887630
I've seen unpassing male lolita get kicked out of cons just for being "creepy"
>>
>>10887640
>Demonia trinity boots
That'd definitely get me the height needed for Ozen but the style isn't right. It wouldn't look right with all the buckles and to put covers on them the buckles would get in the way. I have seen boots on Onlymaker that'd work and be easier to cover, I know they're Chinese so quality could be questionable but we're talking a cosplay that I'd wear only a couple of days a year.
>>
>>10887630
Well that I can expect, but at the same token I feel trying to pass off as female can come off worse? Since your impersonating a female, not just wearing female clothes.
>>10887640
I myself do want to look feminine, but I do not at the slightest feel comfortable trying to pass as a female. Like to put it simply, I like being more or less androgynous but not passing as a female.
>>10887672
I would not want to go to a con, I would just wear it casually as clothes. Cons aren't my type of thing.

Men like you hurt the EGL community. the whole fucking point of lolita fashion is to be a feminine fashion yet complete newfags like you think looking like a total man or non binary zoomer is acceptable in lolita. If you don’t wanna put in the effort to look like a woman your coords are probably shit also.

Aside from crossplay being something I just enjoy more than the normal kind, it's also a pragmatic choice. I tend to overheat pretty easily and piling on layers of clothing along with a wig is gonna make that even worse. So it gets pretty annoying when there's someone I'd like to dress as (ex. Gabriel or Kurisu), but I just don't bother since the window of time where I could wear these outfits is so tiny. For reference, I've felt like I'm overheating in costume, even when it's snowing outside
>>
>>10887731
Yes sure I do destroy it. I never once did say I actually wore Lolita, I do not even have any clothes of it, quite simply I am asking a question. I was asking if it was doable or not, to make such a claim, that I hurt the community somehow by asking a simple question, is absolutely insane. If you actually need to look like a female to wear it, then no I will not wear it. I do not like butchering styles, that just looks like shit.
>>
>>10887672
Tremendous difference between "non passing" and "ugly" anon.

A cute boy with good coords willl be welcomed by everyone outside of the femcels(which nobody likes).

I can say the same thing w crossplay. Ugly non passing will get you the same reaction

I will imply your interest is genuine and try to give you a reasonable answer to you question.

The short answer is, the more feminine the better (given you actually go for lolita and not adjacent styles like male EGA etc.), and the more obvious your typically male features are the harder you will have it within the community. Bonus points for decent social skills.

Long answer is due to a long history of creeps doing creepy things, large parts of the lolita community have at least become wary of males wearing lolita, with some being outright against it, although only very few will be openly vocal about it on social events or platforms due to the progressive tendency of most comms. People will leave you be for the most part if you put in the effort and objectively(!) look good in what you wear, means your coord looks decent and you groom yourself. If you manage to show some social skills and hold yourself back as well, then you are fine to go and people will leave you be. Unfortunately though, if you do not manage to get the first part right, people tend to err for the side of caution and keep their distance from you. The acceptance threshold and general standard at which you will be "measured" however varies greatly from comm to comm. And yeah, based on that it should be clear that some guys have it harder than others when it comes to reaching this goal. I would say the lolita community has very clear ideas about what it wants the fashion to be where other scenes and styles might be much more lenient and open to "unorthodox" takes.

Or to put things into perspective, if you want to sport the man in a dress look, some will maybe support you from a be whoever you want point of view, but the majority will judge you for this and at worst even slander you for it from the back, even if you don't necessarily directly interact with the community, see >>10887583.

>>
>>10887748
I am inclined to say that the actual effort put into the coord and behavior of the person wearing it, make a large difference in the reaction you get, for obvious reasons. I would say this to anyone, not just crossdressing/crossplay. Though physical presentation matters a lot for obvious reasons.
>>
>>10887755
Not the anon you replied to (I'm >>10887754), but despite
>im definetely non passing (heck im like 2m tall)
it still looks great. Cosplay seems very well put together and has a clean look with obvious effort put into it. Keep it up, anon!
>>
>>10887759

thanks!
i was mostly agreeing with the person I quoted like
i'd even say like even if you are ugly if you obviously show care (even like small things like actually steaming/ironing your cosplay) it shows :D
>>
>>10887754
Thank you for actually being polite. Yes I know of the amount of deviants that like to drag Lolita through the mud, god forbid you browse it online for long enough and you just get disgusting fetish rubbish come up. Now as to the actual effort of the coord, yes this makes a large difference as to the perception of it. Ive seen those awful images of people wearing terrible lolita "coords" that clearly arent anything but cheap garbage as well.

Now, I am inclined to think that, the actual look of the coord can perhaps compensate for obviously not passing for a female. Maybe I am biased due to never seeing it on myself or like other people, but I think if you have a very good coord (like actual Lolita stuff not fetish shit or very cheap clothes) and you at least try to work with looking male and try to style it as best as possible, and you dont act like a creep, perhaps it is doable, albeit I think the amount of effort would compensate for not trying to pass as female. Which if its not done right, looks worse than man in a dress. Also as a note, I do feel passing as a female can be worse than man in a dress, perhaps not within the context of lolita but rather if you want to wear the clothing on a regular basis, to do so feels like Im pulling a SMS Cap Trafalgar where I am pretending to be something I am not, and if caught will have worse consequences than just being upfront about it. Yes maybe not the greatest analogy but I think its fitting.

And yes, I know the community its behavior, but thank you for mentioning anyway lol.
>>
>>10887759
>>10887764

>>10887626 here, I've always thought the cosplay/con community is the most easy going, accepting community unless you screw with us, then we're ruthless. I've always been of the mindset that if you take care and put the effort into a good cosplay people will be fine with it and you'll get great response. You've obviously put effort into Scarlet Witch and it paid off very well. For years at Otakon there was a guy who made and walked around in fabulous ballroom gowns, I don't think anyone ever said anything negative about him. This has played into me wanting to put together a good Ozen cosplay. I show up as a good Ozen who actually towers over the other cosplayers as she should, it actually helps this particular cosplay be better IMO.
>>
>>10887756
Effort matters in the sense of getting great skin, great body and other junk.

Effort as in spending 593838 hours and usd on your cosplay or coords do not matter after a certain point.

A genetically masculine or brutish looking guy in the best crossplay attire and makeup ever will still be worse off than a naturally pretty and androgynous looking guy with a thin and slender physique who bought a 140usd ali express cosplay and had his wine aunt do his makeup.

The man wears the clothes, not the other way around.
>>
>>10887799
Well obviously, I never denied this I just think the effort part matters more than the physical body in terms of build/shape (in most cases at least).
>>
>>10887800

i agree you dont need to be the most skinny person ever (I'm >>10887755 so if I did i'd be a hypocrite) but taking care of your skin and looking healthy is important

you're not a supermodel, you're doing this for fun at the end of the day

I think its mostly a matter of finding cosplays you suit a lot

I did a Lucy (Cyberpunk Edgerunners) cosplay because I love her character, but honestly, I think I look trash as her (but will defo try to improve)
>>
>>10887804
I agree. Hell with it even fatter people can pull it off as long as they don't fight their body type and do impossible looks that only look good on thinner people. Same goes with anything else body wise, you need to work with it not against it.

While I do not have an interest in cosplay I do like alternative fashion so yes, you do it because you like the clothes not due to you modeling it or whatever so, it doesn't lead anywhere to obsess over that like I've seen some people do.

Do you guys every talk about animegao kigurumi in these threads? There's a lot of crossover at least in the Asian scene so I would think so.

Opinions on Kig in general? Seems like the ideal way to crossplay since the face is often the easiest way to detect someone's gender outside build- which can be modified a lot with padding and shapewear.
>>
>>10887573
you are better of trying to look as feminine as possible, it is way more fun and engaging that way too
>>
>>10887808
I don't mind kig personally - thought about it even as I like the idea of just becoming something else completely, though it feels like you have to lewd it up for it to be noticed within the realms of the community, at least, that's an impression I get. It is an investment though, so fair play

I've only been a casual in the community for some time, having just ordered my first mask recently but I'd agree with your sentiment of lewd kigs getting the most attention. Unfortunately it also seems to be the center of a lot of drama, a number of western non-lewd kigs whine that kigs who are brand new to the scene get way more attention and build fanbases larger than oldfag kigs quickly via horny posts. They argue that it also hurts the hobby because it makes it so when you look for stuff related to kigging you'll often just find porn and fetish stuff.

I kinda see their point but at the same time you're not gonna get 'normal' dudes both wanting to see and dress up in skintight zentai (Hadatai is their real name, for the uninitiated) and masks to become anime waifus, especially when as you mentioned it requires such a sizable investment in both time and money. It's also just human nature, someone wearing a mask and hiding behind internet anonymity is naturally gonna feel more free to do things they might not otherwise. Soooo you can't have your cake and eat it too imo.

To me it's a simple matter of not being a retard in public- wear normal character relevant cosplay for your kig when you wanna go out and keep the super lewd shit in the bedroom and if you want, on twitter. If the kig is just doing that then why not? No different than a normal horny cosplayer in a way then. As far as I can tell that's what most of them seem to do anyway.

>>
>>10889761

Fact of the matter is, how people decide to use their time and money is up to them and if you can provide a cost-efficient solution or any other bits of advice, the more the merrier. Even the Kig thread in /jp/ features options from the cheapest to the most expensive, decent sellers to the shitty ones, tutorials, etc. No point bitching about it, if you don't like it just don't say anything, if you can provide an alterative by all means

>>
>>10890217
ask a female you know to do it.
Or learn the only way, the hard way, there's plenty of tutorials on yt for specific shit even specific face structures, hell, even for trannies which is useable.
>>
>>10890217
get a good understanding of how your face and its details are shaped and look for tutorials based on that on YT. There are a shitload of tutorials for just about any kind of structures as you need to work around what you have, rather than tutorials for a shape that doesn't suit your own - even the most box-shaped faces can be transformed with some effort, you will find something.

After that, you just have to spend the time to practice
>>
>>10890223
>>10890253
Thanks, I've seen some people who got pretty good makeup looks on their first and second tries online and some that look hideous, is there some kinda reason behind that? I dont mind practicing a lot but was just wondering so I dont make any mistakes or something. I am planning on buying products that I saw someone use on some tutorial since I have no clue what to get exactly
>>
>>10890303
Technique and lack of understanding usually - some people get the idea right away whereas others just apply makeup without applying any logic at all. Makeup becomes real straight-forward with practice though for certain areas like eyeliner, you need to be precise otherwise you will sometimes layer more than you need.

If anything, you should also find videos where MUAs also point out mistakes people make, and see if all of that makes sense to you. Once you are good with makeup, you should feel confident with doing a bunch of crossplay styles if you end up doing it more than once and maybe even impress people if you intend to put the work in
>>
I would love to crossplay as her.
Does anyone know where I could find her outfit? As for the wig, I could get any regular purple wig and restyle it a bit. The headband is pretty easy to obtain. But I would need to get an outfit that's pretty identical to hers.

Lucky Star is a pretty old anime, so I am not counting on the "big cosplay stores", where they sell mainly modernshit slop.

Thinking about crossplaying a 2hu character and will probably buy a costume and get makeup done to see if i like it. To those of you who’ve bought costumes, did you go for male sizes or female sizes as a male? Im a pretty skinny and slightly under average tall male, so i dont know if i’d be able to get away with female sizes considering the male physique is still technically there, but not that obvious. I noticed a small handful of sellers selling male sizes for the female character too, but the large majority (and cheaper) are female only. Also, how do you manage hiding male shoulders to look feminine?
>>
>>10890836
I get male size and it fits fine. If they offer it, go for tailored costumes - of course, if you are buying costumes, play it safe first with an order and if you are happy with the fit and the quality, try and get a better fitting one.
>>
>>10890836
i wouldn't personally crossplay touhou. you'll get mistaken for a woman and get hate from brouhous if you pull it off. that community has a lot of toxicity despite being mostly men in dresses. to answer your question tho, pick a character without poofy sleeves which will make your shoulders look bigger and instead has a floofier skirt.

The biggest issue with a lot of crossdressing/crossplay discords is that they are invariably filled by trannies over time, either because a lot of the members realized they were trannies all along (really, the fear of twinkdeath caught up with them) or just because they want to insert themselves into the community.

I've wanted to make one myself for a while that keeps the trannies out (/lgbt/'s /femgen/ does a similar thing), but I have no idea how to go about spreading it around.
>>

Some people will go full-blown trans, some will just disappear over time as they fall out of love with it...you have to take the good with the bad. I generally just get on with it and do my own thing, it doesn't have to be too connected much of the time and not many people will share your pattern of thinking. Besides, some people may feel anxious about joining groups as they will constantly be judged no matter what

ALL crossplayers are gay, trans, closet gay, closet trans or a fetishist.

I'd rather have people who are honest to themselves than some creepy fetishist or closet case (super likely to be rapists due to repression)

I crossplay Touhou in Japan, and everyone is extremely friendly and kind. Sounds like a Western cosplay community issue sadly. Go with male sizing, as female proportions could screw you over. However, get it custom tailored if you can, mine wasn't and it fits a little bit awkwardly sadly.

Use pantyhose that are skincolored for a more uniform skintone for your legs. For actual facial structure, unless you're open to full on plastic surgery and you're unsatisfied with makeup (learn your techniques), you should just accept who you are. Crossplaying is about mimicking a woman, but it's not about being perfect. As long as you're having fun.

Last thing I would recommend is practice taking pictures and figuring out what angles work best for you, what poses and facial expressions, and so on.
>>
>>10892410
You honestly look fine. If you are concerned about your legs I would suggest white pantyhose with darker shoes. Perhaps as some other anon said, get some volumen in your legs.

>Darker shoes? For the contrast or something?
Correct. The contrast and the pantyhose will make your legs look sleek and elegant. Generally it is better for footwear not to be too light in color, besides, a darker color that suits Chen's hair will make the cosplay look balanced and people will check it out from head to toe and the gaze will linger in the dress.

Hi I’m new to 4Chan so I do not know how it works but I saw this and I wanted to ask if someone has some tip to how look more masculine with makeup
>>
>>10892410
I think you actually have a pretty good facial structure based on the picture. More practice with makeup will make a difference- eyeliner, lipstick & contour.

Part of crossplay is showing off your more feminine features and hiding the more masculine ones. Pick a character who wears tights and long gloves to smooth out your arms & legs. Bangs are a good choice for you. An outfit that's tighter at the waist with a poofier skirt (petticoat as >>10892452 and >>10892496 recommend) or hip pads will also give you a more feminine shape.

Your pose in this picture is working against you. You're hunched over with knees bent and your hand out like a claw- this exaggerates all your muscles & tendons.
>>
Is there an age where you consider yourself too old to do this? I'm gonna be 27 soon and never felt brave enough to do this until now and I feel like I missed the deadline.
I'm pretty short if that's anything.
>>
>>10892658
There are people at the events I go to who can do it well enough at age 50. Additionally skincare and cosmetics are improving. (If you are reading this and not using tretinoin, stop and order some to use now). It's feasible that reverse-aging will happen within our lifetime.

The idea of being too old to crossplay is just doomposting, quite frankly. If anything, let your desire to crossplay encourage you to stay healthy to keep your body young.
>>
>>10892659
That's really reassuring, thanks. Been taking better care of my skin and health in general these days, just scared of twink death that people joke about. I figure makeup and cosmetics can do a lot heavy lifting as I get more proficient with it though.
I'm around 5'7" so I think it's a decent height to crossdress/crossplay as my favorite characters, so I've been reading through the sticky a ton which has a been really helpful. Thanks again anon, I'll look into tretinoin too.
>>
>>10892660
Twink Death is partially a meme, and partially caused by people (who aren't even trying to be twinks 99% of the time) not taking care of their body. Letting fear of it limit what you do is so much worse than it. And honestly, at 5'7' and not even 27 yet if you have decent genetics and you're not fat, you've got nothing to fear.

If you need a whitepill, look up pictures of 20 and 30 year olds in the 1950s and 60s. People aged like lightning in those times due to things like smoking, different healthcare and skincare practices (usually nonexistent), fucking tanning, and more. If you're not terribly unlucky with your genetics and keep yourself in good health, you could probably look like you're in your 20s by age 40 just with what we have today. That's 15 years to do what you love MINIMUM, not even taking into account what technology we'll have by that time period. And even if you do end up looking older, who cares? You can still crossplay and crossplay well, and have fun. Only difference is you may decide to use selfie filters.

tldr: Avoid sunlight, use tretinoin, stay healthy. Fear of twinkdeath is infinitely worse than twinkdeath.

Good luck Anon, I started crossplaying at literally the same time you did and while I regret not starting it sooner, I would regret it even more if I let that fear keep me from doing it.

I recently acquired .05% Tretinoion. I know some people are very sensitive to it, but I applied some last night before bed and my skin seems fine so far. I've seen several different approaches to their PM routines, including only doing Tret once a week. Does anyone here have any recommendations? Would this routine work nightly?

I was thinking:

1. Cleanser
2. Vit C Serum
3. Tret, wait 30m
4. Cerave PM

Pure C (ascorbic acid) or a C derivative, and what concentration? Pure C goes less well with tret than derivatives in my experience. Sensitization doesn't always happen right away with tret but once it gets going, it is hard to calm down. I do cleanser - watery toner - peptide serum - cosrx snail power essence - .05 tret (nightly) - laneige sleeping mask and I save my ascorbic acid for the morning, when it has the added benefit of boosting sunscreen.

This stuff. I'm not sure if it's pure or derivative.

Do I need a toner before applying tret? I've read others saying it's necessary to have something down beforehand.
>>
>>10892762
It's pure; second ingredient is ascorbic acid and it says concentration is 10%, which is mid-high. If you have even a hint of redness after cleansing or flakiness towards the end of the day, switching the C serum to the morning is a good move. To minimize irritation, you could also do every other day on the tret, or MonWedFri, etc. You might also be just fine with daily and combining with the C.

You don't need a toner, however, having damp skin before tret will enhance absorption so it works better, the same way a wet sponge picks up more from the counter. "Working better" can be good or bad, depending on your sensitivity. I am closer to 40 than 30, I have dry/combo skin, and I'm trying to double up on the anti-aging by using both peptides and tret, so I personally prefer more product layers.

In the end, skincare is part science and part personal preference/function, so it's ok to experiment as long as you really tune in to results.

>Is there an age where you consider yourself too old to do this?
No, largely depends on your proficiency in self-care, makeup, choosing the right outfits for your size etc.. As the other anon pointed out, people today have much broader possibilites to take care of themselves and visibly age much slower than decades before. So use it to your advantage.

Also admittedly, if you're being serious about it, it's becoming pretty expensive quickly and most people in the west don't make decent money until they're in their mid to late 20s, so yeah....

Are you a kraut? Also for carnival I would honestly consider points like practicality and durability. I'm going to assume you'll be out with friends and drink a fair bit, possibly over the course of multiple days as well, so I wouldn't go for anything too intricate, but for an outfit with good wearability. Also it's likely going to be cold af especially at night, so think of options on how you want to keep you body warm.

Any specific costume you have in mind?

There is too much to say about cons for someone who has never been to one. Its only awkward if you make it that way. Dress your best, put effort into what you're doing and know how to talk to people and you'll be fine and have a great time. You can get away with looking like crap too if you have the charisma to make it work. Also how have you never been to one you're missing out so much, get you going
>>
>>10893573
Don't worry about having a masculine voice. Most people won't care- and if they say anything it'll probably be expressing surprise that you're a guy.

Cons are so much fun. Wander the vendor hall, go see (or participate in) a group photoshoot, check out some panels, go to a concert (if they have one), get to any special events that look cool (costume contest, pajama party, lolita fashion show, whatever!) Try everything, you never know what you're going to like. But be sure spend some time hanging out in a large social space and check out what other cosplayers have made. There are some awesome costumes out there.

You'll pretty much guaranteed to have fun.

>>
>>10893573
>What do you usually do there?
What >>10893578 >>10893640 said. At the basic level, you enjoy the vendor booths, the panels, concerts, enjoy the feeling of having a ton of people around you that are the same as you and to some degree meeting people as well. There's of course much more to explore, but those things often depend on the con and location.

>Is it uncomfortable or awkward?
Maybe, if you feel uncomfortable indulging in your hobby. Otherwise not really. Might take a bit to get used to the environment there if you've never been to a nerd con, but once you're in the vibe, it's quite enjoyable.

>My voice is pretty deep too so I'm kinda nervous to just walk around or potentially strike a conversation.
At least on con grounds there's nothing to worry about. People are well accepting since everyone's to some degree aware what it means to be slightly out of the norm. Same goes for crossdressing, it's become much more common on cons to see guys crossdressing, whether ironically or seriously. As long as you have fun and don't give off the vibe you wish you were somewhere else far away now, you will be fine. If you pull it off well enough, people will approach you on their own since most of them are just hyped to see a familiar character at the con.

IMO just have an open mind for the new experience and let it get to you. Everything else will come together on its own. At the end of the day, having fun is all that matters.
>>

so i am currently making faketits by paper-macheing over a styrofoam and paper mould. The shape is right, the texture is smooth, like skin, but paper mache is way more "viscous" than skin. Under the paper mache i will stuff it with memory foam. Idk if i should attempt to make it more "realistic", the only goal i want to achieve is for it to look real and to atleast give in to the touch, so i don't have a pair of rock-hard titties. I will update if it works within a few days once it's done but idk if anyone has already tried this, is it worth the effort?

When I covered EVA foam in spandex and 1/4" foam rubber they looked pretty good and the foam gave them some give so they weren't "rock hard".

When I made mine (which were similar but EVA instead of paper mache) they looked looked good but were uncomfortable and kept riding up.

Are there any styling tips for wigs?
Mine looks pretty bad and the ahoge is non existent too. I guess I'm wondering how to give it a more fluffed up and "anime-ish" look if that makes sense? Is it just hair spray/gel?
Also the bangs are way too long but I'm afraid that trimming it will mess it up with how terrible I am at cutting hair.
>>
>>10894464
Your going to want to crimp any "anime physics" hair before spray and jell or it's not going to have the right texture or puffiness. If its REALLY puffy you can also use foam to shape out peices and hide it in the hair. I recommend looking up the name of a simulare hairstyle on YouTube and finding a hair cutting tutorial. I like to buy a cheep wig first to practice on befor I work on the one I'm actually using for con. That way if I hit any road blocks it doesn't mess up the whole cosplay.

they are large cause i am a twink and need a large ass pad to look passing so i need large tits to play with that. so i added this exoskeleton so it holds and remembers its shape, but that might have been a mistake. It won't bend under the bra anymore, holds its shape, even remembers it, is still pokeable, but is way more rigid and feels like its really dense on the inside when you touch it. it's mental illness nobody should be doing that to their body, if you ain't built for this you just ain't fuck it.
>>
does anybody have any body hair removal tips? i’m new to this and noticed shaving does not leave me completely smooth.
>>
>>10894312
Okay, final update: I managed to get the Yuyuko costume a few days before and put everything together. Was my first time and felt really great when a few people asked to take a photo with me. My friends tolerated it, which is all I needed.
>>
>>10896302
Laser hair removal.

I shave baby hairs like once every 6 weeks to be smooth
>>
>>10896387
thanks. i’m also considering waxing but that’s not as effective as laser is it?
>>
>>10896388
Massive waste of money.

Itll take a tiny bit longer to regrow but it will come back as strong as before.
>>
>>10896302
Laser, definitely. I would recommend it to anyone, even if you aren't crossplaying unless you want your hair on display
>>
>>10896387
I did this for my face but haven't noticed a difference after 8 sessions. Does it work better for legs?
>>
>>10896395
Yeah, some people take a while to get results if youre cursed. (course, ensure the place your using is legit, not some ipl trash. My place uses some alexandrite laser that costs like 60 grand)

Needed like 16 on my face to finally lose all that shadow, still do touch ups cause the pointiest part of my chin can grow baby hairs after a couple days.

Body hair is way easier, legs have been done 6 times and I only "need" to shave them every month if I wana be super smooth. arms and privates only 3 times but tremendously different.
>>
>>10896401
How do you find a good doctor? Should I just be asking what kind of laser they use? Am I looking for alexandrite specifically?

How does electrolysis compare?
>>
>>10896403
>How does electrolysis compare?
The only truly 100% guaranteed hair removal option that really works permanently. The main issue is that it's super slow and kinda painful.
>>
>>10896460
you can get it with local anaesthetic. Sure it's more expensive and your face will become more of a balloon, but it helps. If you have a full day session you can sometimes doze off
>>
>>10896403
Electrolysis takes forever and costs almost 5 figures for your face for the average moid.

Laser a dozen or 2 times. Electrolysis the last 3-5% annnoying bits, should only cost a few hundreds
>>

For temporary use, depilatory powder seems to be pretty useful. But be careful though, it can leave chemical burns if you don't do it right. And don't use nair, it's pretty messy according to some anons from older threads.

binder. t-kingdom and gc2b are good quality for the price and will last years, especially if you only use them for cosplay. they are safe to wear for up to 8 hours straight, but i do not recommend wearing longer than 4 your first few times to be safe.

Would you happen to have any recommendations on store or brands you think are worthwhile for someone not versed very well in the styles that are typically popular? Or did you simply use some normal uniform supplier... I may perhaps want to get one of those gakuran-outfits to casually wear around conventions or such lol.

Not that anon, but you can actually get some decent quality items through Taobao. Hug Sunshine is pretty well stocked with everything you need and carries wide range of styles, although I'm not sure right now if they carry gakuran outfits as well.

Funny though, after a long break from CDing due to personal life reasons, I started getting into it again and immediately vibed with nanchatte again, which made me look up some items on AliEx since it's not as much of a hassle to order from there.

This store actually has a neat selection as well and from what I could tell from the comments, the quality seems to be okay for what it is? Ordered a cardigan and a shirt the other day to match with a skirt and bow set I got from a different store. Would love to buy a boxy blazer as well, but not sure yet if I want to trust them.

For male uniforms I simply looked it up and immediately found these:

Maybe you can crawl yourself through further recommendations and find what you like.

What's the best way to reduce red bumps and spots on your legs? I use nair exclusively since I'm a little scared to use a razor, but I exfoliate and moisturize frequently but it doesn't seem to help much unfortunately. Thanks!

Any tips on how to hide the neckline on a breastplate? I got the high neck one but it's still visible in pics. Do I just deal with it or is there a trick or a certain kind of plate to buy? I can return this one since I got it off amazon as a starter.
>>
>>10899193
I deal with it mostly by trimming it so it gets hidden right under the chin shadow in most pictures but I think it helps to just get comfortable with using a basic phone app like Meitu to blend it out post photo taking. Diminishing returns trying hard to get a perfect skin match since the silicone texture is somehow off no matter how you do it.

Say I wanted to crossdress as a character that shows a lot of their legs, such as pic related, but I also don't want to shave my legs and be unable to wear shorts in public for a month or two. Would something like ballet tights in a skin tone look good without showing hair through the fabric? Alternatively, does anyone have any other suggestions for this kind of thing beyond "don't bother"?
>>
>>10899442
I've considered running a more male version of her with knee length shorts
>>
>>10899442
I recently had to cover my leg hair for a character with white tights, so I combined skin-colored tights with the white ones over them, and it worked well (leg hair was still very visible with only one pair). I’m wondering whether a double layer of opaque skin-colored tights would do the trick..
>>
>>10899442
I utilize thick, skin color thermal tights to mimic hairless legs without needing to actually shave. Something like this.

As a guy looking to cross play what's a better option for buying a costume, ordering it for a female large enough to fit or for a male if the option is available?

It's case-by-case but you're taking a risk every time no matter what, since they're size standards for Asians. The charts they give aren't always trustworthy either. For example, I've failed with the same costume three times now because no matter what size I pick the straps are too short. it's to the point that I just have gave up on that one, and recently ordered my first new costume in months, so fingers crossed very tight
>>
>>10900182
A lot of sellers will customize it for you if you ask. You could also make the outfit yourself.
>>
>>10900182
I would recommend a custom if you choose to buy a costume, it shouldn't cost too much more. The sizes will end up smaller anyway considering most of them are made in China.
If you really are getting a default sizing, you have to take into account shoulder width more than hip width. Personally I go for my usual size and it fits fine, just the arms are shorter by a couple inches (if the costume has long sleeves),
Or you can do what >>10900215 said if you have the time and money
>>
>>10900215
>>10900301
I am definitely not skilled enough to make an outfit myself. Custom sizing is definitely an option, but that still begs the question on several websites the ask for male or female even with custom sizing. So what would be the difference when giving a custom size and which one should be chosen?
>>
>>10900159
Some shops like Arda or Epic Wigs offer premade twin tail wigs and / or clip-in ponytails. I've ordered from Arda in the past and been happy, but my recent purchases have all been from Epic.

why is it so difficult to make a skirt/dress work?
i want to weat a pullover dress-hoodie cause it looks comfy as hell, but it either hides all the feminine features i am accenting or if i belt it it just looks goofy and so obviously fake, even with pads. No skirt/just regular clothes looks insanely good but i really want to try this too. am i doing something wrong? is there a way you're supposed to stand/move when wearing a skirt?
>>
>>10900684
...something like this
It looks fine with no belt, but then it just hides everything and taking it off peridoically is not an option cause i cheaped out on my wig and i would have to comb it actively while wearing it.
I want to look girlcore as hell but it feels pointless if i am hiding all the other effort.
>>
Who do I wear under an overbust corset?
>>
>>10900684
>>10900685
I feel like you're kind of going for the impossible assuming the fit of this hoodie dress is kinda loose. If you want something comfy that also shows off your feminine shape, you could try going for a knitted dress instead. Some of them have cuts that make it look like a bodycon dress, but due to the fabric it still retains its flexibility and comfyness.
>>
>>10900685
It has to do with proportions and body type. Not all females look good in all styles of clothing.
>>
>>10897673
>didn't even notice this until a month later
honestly LOL
Yeah, I'm a dude. The look kinda sucked honestly, in hindsight, but I liked it so that's what matters to me.
I've done way better looks since then.
>>
>>10900685
If you have wide shoulders a non-form fitting look is almost always gonna bite you in the butt regardless and you're gonna look like a refridgerator.
It's better to wear something skinnier and more naturally form-fitting so you can show off your "curves". Alternatively, invest in more hip/butt padding.
>>
>>10900926
after some point the butt padding just becomes ridiculous and i am already maxxing the shit out of it it for the form-fitting clothes, anything bigger would just be way too ridiculous, same for breast pads, they help out here but not so much and it's not a straight line it's this weird ass curve that goes up then down when it comes to tit size and fitting with the hoodie dress.
>>
>>10901234
Unless you're very slim with narrow shoulders a hoodie dress isn't going to look good on you. It isn't about BWH proportions, it's about overall body shape.
>>
>>10901455
so i just lost 5$...

>>10901591
nta, but yeah, pretty much. Different dresses flatter different body shapes. Nothing like a one fits all approach out there.

Relating to my fingernails, I don't think there's anything of note aside from the fact that I usually paint my fingernails the night before an event since it takes forever to dry. Base coat, color, and top coat.

My makeup in general I didn't apply properly in this pic, since I forgot to add shading to my nose (I usually just use eye shadow for that since it works). Also I did a terrible job with eyeliner, but I usually struggle with eyeliner. I have no idea how to get better at it, my eyes are too twitchy and I think I apply it too high since I can't seem to cover low enough. Easily the thing I sink the most time trying to do.

Can't find picrel of exact one i have, it's like this one, except no signs, pocket and is much longer plus the sleeves have that tapered-in look that i find cute.
I could crop it, i look best when i expose my midriff (i think it has to do with contrasting colors/the size of my tiddies and ass). Should i bother with re-connecting the bottom bit with the stretchy line? i dislike croppped hoodies that don't jus swoosh and i could gain a black tube scarf.I could also paint on it, though what would i paint? i was thinking some elaborate personal shit with like metal ass depictions of spacemen getting sacrificed, call it "soviet space program" or some shit, but idk, would a girl be as boycoded? I'm sure plenty here have had it done - I have and whilst it does reduce hair growth and I recommend it to anyone, the success of super-reduced growth depends on the person (I am not one of those people), however I don't think it's even expensive to just do anymore.
You will experience more pain in sensitive areas like the upper lip, but the session is over before you know it. Just enjoy your swollen, beat-up face for a little while after a session

Perhaps, but Ozen is canonically taller than me. Minimum height given for her in all media is 2 meters. Give the cosplay that towering, imposing presence she actually has.

With the way Ozen's hair is I figure from floor to top of the wig will probably be 6'9"-6'10". Adequate height for her.

Depending on your country, you might wanna just make a touhou friend group and try to set up your own smaller scale events. That obviously depends on how many people you can find and how urban your country is, but it's what happens in Japan.

>if you can't pass you get ID'd and barred from entry
This reminds me of Reitaisai how when I was heading to the men's changing room, apparently one of the staff thought I was a girl in the wrong line. It's kinda goofy but it can lead to some awkward moments, especially if you can't speak the native language well and don't realize you're being sent to the girl's changing room and once you get there have to awkwardly explain this isn't where you need to be.

I have no real experience, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I also don't know what this is supposed to look like, since I can't seem to find any information on the name you gave.
That said, the chest seems too large relative to your body's weight. Your arms especially betray that you are fairly thin, but from the side you appear obese due to how far the chest protrudes.
Also, while I have no idea why, the moment I see your face, I can tell you're male, even disregarding the entire rest of the image. Someone with more experience can probably tell you why that is, all I know is that I can pick it.
Other than that, the hips seem good. When you lifted your arms and the light shone through the sleeve fabric, the outline of the body looked decent.
Sorry that I can't be of any real help. Good luck, anon.

I am aware that i look "obese", though i almost feel like that's the whole point, as far as i'm aware being fat used to be a symbol across all cultures?

Maybe try searching Malintzin or Malinche?
>>
>>10902656
what the fuck, why? Has a reason been given of why the ban?
>>
>>10902925
Too many non passsing fetishists I guess. Bad optics does a lot of damage
>>
>>10902974
very unfortunate. What touhou did you want to cosplay?
>>
>>10902997
Ah Im not into tuhu so I never cosplayed it. Just remarking on the sad reality of things
>>
currently killing myself cause i am convinced my pads are unpassably assymetrical but when i take a look not only are the tits perfectly (practicaly to 1%) symmetrical and the ass pads are slightly less but still pretty good, it's not even those flaws that make it look "fake" to me i can't fucking why do i have to be a perfectionist. Otherwise people ask me who the girl in the photo is instead of "nice cosutme" so maybe it doesn't matter but it so matters to me.
>>
>>10903136
forgive me for blogposting but i am genuinely pissed off at myself because until now the flaw was so clear yet now i can't see it. I can't find the best picture but i swear the right (your right) hip is "squarer" than the left and i don't know if i am just ocding.
>>
>>10903139
Well if it makes you feel any better as a cis girl I have no clue what you're talking about, your body looks fine to me. Also, if you start looking at cis girls' bodies with a more critical eye you'll start noticing we aren't perfectly symmetrical ourselves, so
>>
Not really looking for advice, but how do guys who don't do it super often deal with the feeling of the prickliness after shaving their legs?
>>
>>10903152
I stopped caring about feel and went for just getting it short enough to not see in pictures/under tights. The improvement in comfort is so very worth it to me. Shit is painful when it's cut razor short. Electric is good enough

girl there is no way that is true
>>
>>10903155
also contemplating writing something like "slay" or other girlie slang on the chest in pure bold white letters but idk if it'll be overdoing it or if the top is fine without anything.
>>
>>10903139
It's really hard to tell because you're not standing square to the camera an the photo is so dark I really can't make out details. But overall I think you look good.
>>
>>10903155
One of my boobs is a cup size bigger than my other. One of my arms is longer that the other, too. My right foot is bigger than my left. Bodies aren't perfectly symmetrical.

In an effort to get myself to start crossplaying a year or so back, I bought a Yae Miko cosplay and realized how shit I looked in it with my wide shoulders, now it sits in my closet and makes me feel shame.
How do I discern what characters / outfits crossplay is possible with a wider chest / shoulder proportions?
>>
>>10903314
Did you try hip padding? I don't have very broad shoulders so maybe it's different for you, but even a bit of foam padding made a huge difference in creating the illusion of a feminine figure.
>>
>>10903314
I've wanted to cosplay Yae for so long and my fear of exactly that happening has kept me from ever paying for one.
>>
>>10903315
I second this.

Also i have cut down a teeny bit and either i was going crazy before or now it's all correct.
>>
>>10903315
In theory, as long as the proportions look right, shoulder width shouldn’t matter, so I’ll look into some hip and breast pads. Thanks!
>>
>>10903355
your body looks good but your arms are so buff that it gives away you're a dude
>>
>>10903379
women can have muscular arms, it's the veins that are throwing me off. flesh coloured arm covers (you can make them from tights) might help
>>
>>10903383
women can, but most don't, and even when they do only a very small percentage have arms that defined. I think if you got like a baggy coat that you had hung off your shoulders instead of fully wearing it, that'd look cute with the current outfit

im trying to find materials so i can sew a bodysuit and i saw this stuff that looks ideal for what i need but i am completely unable to search for it. the woman in the video describes it as "elastic material with a rubber coating" but that leads me nowhere. i am going insane trying to find it. am overcomplicating things? is it just neoprene?? am i just retarded?
>>
>>10903431
You might try asking in the Sew thread... they know fabric.

i can also say i am a lesbian. I was thinking some fake tatoos.
>>
...though if you haven't noticed the gloves are just unevenly cut hoodie sleeves from some old hoodie i found that i massacred with dye, i'm thinking of attatching a strap or something on the inside so they don't slide, my main idea was to asymmetrically dye them with patterns so it's less of an eyesore that one is a full third longer. Tatoos also cool but they will smudge so idk.
I have this faux-leather jacket that i will be wearing because february in eastern europe, so now worries there, though i want to be able to take it off. I was gonna wear the hoodie-dress that i cropped, but idk it just doesn't look as good as i thought. Doesn't look bad, it's just that it isn't *it*, y'know?. i really want to get away with exposing as much "skin" as possible and still passing.

That won’t really cut it, CIS women have a very hard time developing that level of vascularity without being “enhanced” (roids) and even then having it occur on forearms is rare without lots of juice, training, and/or specific genetics. Foundation and body glow/bronzer may help conceal it though.
You would have best results passing as cis just covering them, but as far as I’m concerned just being femme-passing>concerning yourself with being AFAB passing.
>>
>>10903560
AFAB?
I do pass really well, though, yes?
See >>10903505, i'm already considering options. Forgot to trip that post.
