I know this is meant to be casual, but for some reason it just comes off as a full and complete coord to me. Can someone who's good at explaining the differences chime in on why it is or isn't casual?
>>
I hope people don't post all the same coords again

She's wearing a blouse + a cardi over. How does that make this casual?

Things like >>9588322, >>9588327, >>9588329 are what look casual and wearable to me. Meta phone skirt girl looks like she's just wearing regular lolita.

Then it's not casual. I didn't post that one and I'm on my small cellphone.

For me, it seems like the excessive amount of layering. It'd feel more casual with no tights or skin tone tights with a cutsew or brand t-shirt.

For me, it still feels more casual or wearable. Why can't we just have a nice thread and not fucking argue about everything?

To me, casual is about a feeling of comfort or simplicity. So cutsews, knit cardigans, or simple tops rather than extravagant blouses; minimal accessories; and maybe elements of other fashions.

>>9588439
She could have just been chilly? Also, I pair cardigans and tops in my casual wear all the time.

Anyone have coords of pieces like Fantastic Carnival, Milky Swan, or Milky Cross being worn casually? I feel like those series are all pretty hard to tone down.

>>
>>9588454
It doesnt matter what anyones opinion is or what they consider casual clothes in their daily life, casual lolita is a substyle that is different from just wearing a basic lolita coord.

>>
>>9588470
I think that's your opinion. Also, what is casual and what isn't seems to be very subjective in this case. Just like what someone calls OTT might be a basic, everyday coord for another person.
>>
>>9588622
That's just like saying what's considered classic and sweet is based on opinion.
>>
>>9588307
Ankle socks, natural hair casually styled in a ponytail, simple make-up blouse isn't a traditional lolita one with a lot of lace and huge collar, no accessories except bag and headbow, bag is a normie shape and style.

I'd agree that this seems like a fairly standard lolita coord to me too, but I can see why some people would consider it casual as well.
>>
>>9588307

(i'm not the one that posted it) I figure it's because it looks casual in the normal, ordinary way -- like this girl might be going bowling or to hang out with friends instead of going to a lolita meet, if that makes sense. Part of casual lolita is that it's supposed to be toned down to make it easier to wear for everyday. So I guess a coord that looks more "lived in", like you just went to the post office, would give off more casual vibes even if the coord technically has all the lolita components.

imo, anyway.
>>
>>9588803
That's just lolita, so anon was right to question that coord. Casual lolita uses actual casual clothes (cutsew dresses, salopettes, tshirts) and is not just whatever someones interpretation of non-fancy is.

How would you call it? 'cause if you make a thread for those coords without calling it casual lolita, cgl gets triggered thinking you're trying to make neo lolita a thing and derail the thread with ageplay.

nayrt, but no. it's not. OTT and casual are descriptors, they aren't defined styles. they can be added to any substyle, but can't be worn on their own (what would an "OTT lolita" coord look like without a classic/gothic/hime/sweet base?). everything you posted (that is actually lolita) has a substyle it's based on.

that's why so many people get into arguments about what is and is not casual enough to be called "casual lolita." it's also not a substyle-any substyle can be worn casually, there are no "casual lolita" brands, and the only elements that are common amongst what most people consider "casual" coords are cutsews and sometimes skirts... which are available in any substyle.

you seem very new (which is not meant to be mean, but a bad perspective to get in arguments from). here's an old post from a popular lolita blog to get some background: http://fyeahlolita.blogspot.com/2012/10/casual-lolita-toned-down-lolita-fashion.html?m=1
>>
>>9592513
Casual lolita has always been treated like a substyle in my comm, but maybe not on cgl and cof in recent years. I know it's the popular opinion on cgl to pretend there are only 3 substyle and the rest is a theme, but that's really just the inability of new (native English speaking) lolitas to understand substyle has wider meaning in lolita.
>there are no "casual lolita" brands
When I started wearing lolita, otome wasn't popular yet so ETC was often recommended as a casual lolita brand.

If you want to go with the argument that casual and fancy is different depending on the person, I still don't believe you people wear toned-down lolita/a blouse on casual days. I bet you wear sweatpants and hold lolita to completely different standards than your normie wardrobe.

actually, I wear "otome" (whetever you want to call it) pretty much every day, and no I still think punk, country, etc. are substyles too. But /how/ you wear a substyle just isn't a substyle. That makes absolutely no sense.
