Fan-made Zorua quadsuit. A bit rough (and old), but it's pretty unique. Not many hands and knees quads out there. I think Radywolf made it.

She posted some suggestive (dont remember if there was nudity) Ed, Edd n Eddie artwork on her twitter and a bunch of tumblrtards came out of the woodworks and screeched, called her a pedophile and a bunch of other stuff and someone else made a beware twitter post of it and others retweeted it to try and "warn others of this disgusting horrible gross pedophile scum".

Needless to say it was really dumb.

Speaking of fursuit drama, get a load of this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zRPHUQ1eQ4l5EHeWWdEmmcjF14SceKSfw65A-FPCZJQ/mobilebasic
Same maker who in the past accused a customer of being the one who broke into her workshop to steal a unfinished head after a burglary.
Anyway, of all places, the Nut Job 2 premiere had a pretty good mascot. Animatronic too. I don't know why they spent that much money, though, considering it's the Nut Job 2.

Funny enough, the one in the red/orange is the president of the fursuit company Atelier Amanojaku, and the one in the red and white is his wife and one of the workers. So I met some of my suit makers at the con on accident.
Got the design off of Furstar, their premade design site. You buy one and they make it into the suit

So a little over $4k, that's not terrible. Actually about the average of their suits now. They recently released an english pamphlet and their customs are starting at $3500.

It's a lot of money, but for one of their suits, sounds about right lol.

>>
>>9602344
I want one of these actually. Not sure where to even start for commission though or a rough ballpark of what it might cost.
>>
>>9603764

If it's made the same way as the Pikachu costumes, it's an inflatable costume. To get an idea of what it's like, at least.
>>
>>9603770
Thanks mate. Didn't even know they were inflatable.
>>
>>9603758
Aw shit thanks anon.
I didn't think the /cgl/ thread would continue so I posted on trash instead.
For US it's always $150 shipping.

They also get suits done really quickly. Check their main site to see when your suit would be done.
I do wanna warn though that they don't really do WIPs, rather they'll show you the completed body, ask you to okay it, then continue until they finish the suit and then they rinse and repeat the process until you say "it's good, send it my way"

PS I know it's already halfway through the month, but if you commission them for a custom suit of your OC (this is for anyone interested), you can get a $300 off discount thanks to an offer they made on FB

>>
>>9600780
Neopets has always been really strict with fan content, it doesn't surprise me
>>
>>9605081
But you'd still think there would be more fanmade suits out there. Even if you can't safely take commissions on them legally, what's stopping people from just making their own? They aren't going around suing people that simply made a costume for themselves to wear.
>>
>>9605290
Furries want their super special fursonas as suits rather than cosplay a known character.
>>
>>9605300
But that doesn't make sense considering how many anthro Pokemon fursuits are out there.

Are these made from minky? Looking for fabric choices for a lucario/mega lucario, generally I just use fleece/faux fur.
>>
>>9606758
Minky is a real bitch to work with, all seams show. Fleece is easier if you can do the henson stitch (doing that myself for a Snivy yuru-chara-style mascot, but it's hand stiching so it'll take a long time). If you can find it, use seal/plush fur. It's more expensive, but has a slightly thicker pile and hides seams better. It's also what the official pokemon mascots use. But again, the issue is finding the plush fur, it's hard to comeby the right colors compared to fleece.
>>
>>9606773
Thanks! Yeah i know the seal fur, that's a good option. And handsewing is a pain but it is beautiful indeed.
>>
>>9606758
I'm pretty sure it is the stretchy "Exterial" fabric (is patented by http://e-nakano.net/) that is also used for all the japanese MLP fursuits and other characters without long fur, pic related is also made from it.

Eh, it's all right for cartoony stuff if that's what you're shooting for, but cartoony stuff's overdone for these kinda costumes if you ask me.
I forewent digitigrade stilts when the ones I made didn't work out for digitigrade padding, and while it worked for what it was meant to do, it ballooned my lower half out (which already had a rather large tail) and is perpetually warm even if my upper half's rather chilly.

I didn't mean quad in the sense of an actual quadsuit. I know what they are, anon, contrary to your "shit". Rather I meant the proportions of the suits are still as if the ponies just got off four legs (hence the quad) and walked on their hind legs. Sometimes it works, sometimes it seems a little...unbalanced?

Either way. I prefer certain styles, people prefer other ones, what can ya do?

They aren't or else they would have their hand hooves almost bellow their knees which they don't. Also, they wouldn't have slim necks, shoulders or a curvy shape if they had a quad-like pody.

Eye anon from the last thread with a followup, if anyone remembers. Bought some resin and did my first "proof of concept" pulls with embellishments i had lying around the house. Definitely made some mistakes, as you can see the pupil on the top right migrated a lot, but with more experimentation I think something is viable here. Id like to try some different kinds of resin and different styles of production soon.

It looks like a cheaper and a little bit shitty interpretation of the broadway style costumes, so if it's for a middle/high school play or halloween or similar, that would be acceptable. Wouldn't think of much of them if I saw it at a con though.
>>
What's your opinion on suitmakers who heavily use a standard set headbases for commissions? I'm torn on them. Sometimes it works, but other times the suits all look the same to me. What really gets my OCD is when they make a fox look like a dog.

>>9621572
It looks bad. I'm shocked every time someone is happy with their OneFurAll suits. They look like garbage.

That's weird, I followed him in the last couple of days but he hasn't been active since then so I'll wait and see if he does anything about my account with about 3 posts ever on it.

I've only been to one convention in fursuit so far which was Confuzzled earlier this year which I wore my Zorua partial suit to as I didn't have Natalie at that point because I didn't win the auction she was being sold in. Luckily for me the winner flaked out and the owner contacted me and sold the suit to me directly!

I will probably do Confuzzled again next year and I'm hoping to get to Eurofurence as well.

Looking great! How are you going to keep the tail up?
>>
>>9624045
The tail is pretty much solid foam. Started out as a shell like the rest of it, but the leaf on top was too heavy. Endless regluing sessions later and filling the cavity with foam, I got it to stick up. When I wear the suit the tail does perk up more than what's in the picture.
Tail leaf is a bit fatter than I would have liked, and the tail droops, so next time I think I'll make the whole thing out of wire mesh perhaps. For now, I may resort to fishing wire.
>>
>>9624083
Also, I think this may have been asked in a previous thread, but a tip for making body pods I found is to make a cardboard pattern, then remove radially the thickness of the foam you'll be using. Otherwise the foam bodypod will be bigger than the pattern! Sometimes CAD software helps with planning, too.

You gotta make sacrifices sometimes to look cute in suit. Fight through the pain, etc
Speaking of Kemo suits, I've heard mixed things on K-line. Rady's suits are fantastic, as are Eixin's, but some of the commissions seemed rushed to some people, including the showcase suits. Are they worth commissioning, if they ever open another showcase round? 4-6k is a lot of money to risk having a suit with symmetry problems and the like.
>>
>>9627750
Rady doesn't really work on the suits anymore. It's other people they brought on if I refall
>>
>>9627750
>if they ever open another showcase round
Their last Showcase round has been open for a while already but now the team only does mass-manufacturing of recolors of a single character.

>>
>>9628135
Hmm, interesting, but I'm a bit disappointing they aren't making multiple character designs anymore. I think if I want a kemo suit, I'll go with a character from Furstar, then.

Sad if they're only doing one design and their quality is allegedly dropping on top of that. 6k is a lot for a suit, even moreso when you don't get to have a custom design and the work is done by newer workers or apprentices rather than the artist people know the brand best by.

I need some opinions anon.
For non-cute Pokemon suits, what would you use as material for the body? Specifically researching if making a Machamp would be feasible, but I'm a bit hung up on the material for the skin.
Right now I'm thinking either
>fleece
>fleece and latex
>a stretchy cotton

Pic related if you can't imagine fleece+latex; it looks a bit gross but also more smooth like I think a Machamp would be irl?

Honestly might be worth looking up godzilla and other kaiju costumes if you're going for a skin look, only thing I can think of. Sorry anon
>>
>>9630032
I would still go for some kind of fabric that has a pile, so shapes under it are less defined. Upholstery foam cut into shape will always have irregular surface that will shape through thin fabric. So fleece without the latex would be cool, i also think with latex it'll be way too much work to do an entire machamp. Also I recognize that cropped shot, cool costume!
If you wanna choose a thin fabric, maybe peachskin or velvet? It'll still keep the cartoony feel without having a pile. You can use half inch quilt batting to even out the surface of upholstery foam easily before applying the skin.

Update on my Zoroark, commission will start in November, should take three months. After that, maybe a Zorua or Greninja commission? Not sure. I'd make the costume that wasn't commissioned, along with my dragon character.
I've never seen a dragon fursuit made like I'd truly want, though those GoT suits were close. I may have the dragon head sit above my own and have bigass wings and a long tail. Maybe semi-stilts too. (My character is a wyvern)

It was a tough decision for me because it came down to Christmas and Island but I think I'd prefer to not have the same colour as Elbi's Bori suit, not so much about people maybe thinking it might be a copycat suit but more because I think I'd rather have there be two different Bori suits rather than two islanders.

People dancing in full body costumes is really endearing to me.

how does one go about making a head for a character with no visible eyes?

>>
>>9635623
not at my desk right now, but here's a cropped rough sketch i found
>>
>>9635606
while a static jaw is very common with fursuits. this could be a difficult head to wear. a big mouth will give you the room you need to breath and see, since you wont able to install a fan in the mouth to help ventilation. but if does turn out to be too hot, you might able to install a fan in an ear
>>
>>9636080
yeah, i got two small fans with 9 volts to hook up, i figured maybe i could put one on the back of the neck and maybe another one at the top inside, since it won't be completely sitting on my head?
>>
>>9635626
The face will be solid black, correct?
>>
>>9636418
yeah! at first i was thinking there could be eye holes, but i could put mesh over it and then the fur so i had another way to see? do people do that?
>>
>>9636525
You have the right idea, yeah. Find the sturdiest mesh you can and use E6000 to glue it tightly over your eye holes and pin it while it dries- it needs to be as tight as you can get it so it doesnt sag. The tricky part is your fur or whatever you're putting over the face needs to be super thin because you'll be looking through that AND the mesh of the eyes. I've done this technique for other non-fursuit costumes and it works great but if your fur is really thick its not gonna work too well.
>>
>>9636531
thanks for the advice! have you ever used black furs for your own costumes?
also can curly hair like a sheep's wool on a fursuit head be mimicked with the use of regular fur?

a non /cgl/ friend of mine said i should just tape medical cotton balls to my head.
>>
>>9636576
I was using a very thin black velvet, almost like a peach skin so that I could see through it but it still had a fuzzy appearance.
The only way I know of to get your fur to look like sheeps wool- and this is a terrible idea, Im warning you now- is to wash the pieces and then put them through the dryer on low. I've seen some people actually pull it off and it came out looking a bit messy but like wool however I do not not recommend it.

A better idea might be to get actual wool roving and either needlefelt all the little"balls" and attach them down or just roll bits of the wool and glue gun it down to the base.

Failing either of those methods, just buy faux sheep wool looking fabric, it exists but its super pricey.
>>
>>9636592
thanks again, is it tricky to glue gun wool? it just sounds texture wise a little messy.
>>
>>9636615
Yeah its gonna be very messy (and a real bitch) unfortunately, you just gotta go slow and know that you really got secure it down well.

What's everyone's opinion on kigurumi-type fursuits? Personally, I like them a lot, if done well
>>
>>9637019
I find them super creepy for some reason I can't pin down.
>>
>>9637024
For her specifically, it's the dead eyes combined with the furless face. Something like that could work, with a different approach to making the eyes to make 'em less uncanny.
>>
>>9637019
I mean, I'd probably wear this if I had the chance. But anime girl kigurumis very easily go into the uncanny valley, and face design is everything. Closed mouth, unfocused eyes, combined with bad body padding and wrinkled, wrong-color bodysuits make them look super scary
>>
>>9637028
I think more advanced costumes like this have following eyes, which could help. I'm ok with the furless face in this case, though it looks pretty bad with other costumes.
>>
Besides kigs, what do people think of DVCs resin kits? I've bought a few Sergal heads from them, and every time I've found the symmetry to be awful. Their dragon heads are great though
>>
>>9637045
Never bought anything from them, but plan to get some smaller parts of theirs at some point (Claws, jaw sets, etc.). Only thing I have to say is they're popular enough that competent fursuits have a slight case of same face with people using their heads.

I got it from a dutch supplier, it's incredibly smooth and unlike usual fur it has a silky inside which feels nice and cool to the skin too. The pile is 1 cm, just a bit thicker than seal fur which is perfect imo. Downside is that the blue i got has fur going in different directions in several spots, i'm going to try hot air to fix the fur direction (you can see it on the reflection in the photo)
https://www.textielstad.nl/flex-fur-kobalt.html

>>9637063
Thanks! I was fighting with it at first then i realized when you make a longer surface area you can lift much more weight. Like a hook for a heavy duty plank. So I added a longer end of wood and now it presses on my back in a better angle
>>
>>9637056
I'm almost jelly, (Made a Lucario a long time ago, and, lets just say it needs a LOT of tlc at this point.)
What do you use for the cream fur? I've been looking on and off for something that might work (Used something more akin to sheep wool the first time around for whatever reason.) and everything I've seen seemed a bit short. (3.5" pile length.)
>That tail solution
Slightly more elegant than what I did, (2-3 metal coat hangers straightened and run down the length of the tail with the other end bent at a 90 degree angle up to halfway up the back and looped back around with two belts around the torso to keep it attached.)
I can't tell how large that piece of wood is, do you get much in the way of unwanted movement with your attachment set up?
>>
>>9637077
I used a 4" (10cm) pile fur from http://www.stoffen-online.nl/bont-langhaar-toffee.html. Was actually left over from my blaziken so that was convenient. Needs some shaving though because i have a very slim taille and I want it to reflect that from lucario aswell.
The wooden plate is 6 inches long, and theres one strong metal wire running through the tail, with a lets say 10 inch thin pvc pipe for the first portion else it droops. The pvc pipe is clamped to the wood plate with the screws. So someone would have to bump and bend the first 6 inches of the tail to do any damage or hurt me, the rest is flexible thankfully. The belt has some wide elastic in it so it has some wiggle room in case anyone will

Tbh the most important part about keeping a tail like this lifted is to keep the angle rigid and unmovable, while keeping enough surface area on your back (the green part in the sideview)

Man I love this suit so much, if I ever see an Arito suit up for sale I'll definitely jump at the chance.

Whats a good place to get long white faux fur? Figured this thread would be best to ask. I can only find short faux furs. It's to make a tail for my Halloween costume.

There a bunch of places that have up to 3" white faux fur, were you looking for even longer than that? What length we talking here?

Because it's cheap and low effort? You're going to see a lot of mods of those 20 dollar walmart masks as long as they are plentiful.

I wish the eyes were bigger. There's too much sclera

Thanks for the links (I assume Blazikont-)anon, I saw you posting in the Dutch thread too and wanted to ask about fur supplies but forgot. The Netherlands is close enough that shipping wouldn't be awful.

An infamous nickname i'm afraid, but goodluck on the fur! I also took samples from www.fakefurshop.com/ which has a large assortment and is technically based in holland but ships favorably throughout europe. Didn't find the fur i wanted though but maybe you find something suitable.

Looks good! Ears especially look spot on. (Couldn't ever do it in foam like that myself 'cause to OCD about having it on model.) Only thing though, eyes looks a bit high. Don't know how you'd go about changing it one way or the other, but I can't see how the black face bands'll fit where they are now.
>>
>>9638253
They seemed a little low when i was trimming the head ( i made a 3d pattern like your example) so i cut up some room on the top side but maybe youre right indeed. I need a fresh look tomorrow anyway since you tend to stare blind on a piece after hours and its hard to spot deficiencies. Will probably glue some foam back on to make up for it, thanks for the heads up! (hehe heads up)

Always good to keep ahead of problems before they're a pain to fix. I'd say for a non-lucario head that'd be the optimum spot to stick 'em, but lucario has a massive forehead / slopped head top area, so where they should be looks kinda weird without the face mask thing framing his face.
(This post only exists for the pun.)

Made a quick 'n dirty overlay for a visual. Doesn't match 1:1 obviously, but I hope this helps.

This. I'm not saying it's good at all compared to a proper fursuit head, but considering it's like

>$20 for premade mask
>$2 for craft foam
>a couple more bucks for the "piercings"
>waste fabric for the mouth and tongue

and probably like an hour of work at the absolute max, it's not that bad and I've seen much worse outcomes with lots more effort put in.
>>
>>9638382
Thanks that actually helps a lot! I actually also made the nose longer and you can see that here too

And idk the difference with short fur, but they have a lot of different types of short furs on those sites.

Nice. I'm thinking on making that Zorua quad with seal fur perhaps, so these should be helpful

Finished the lucario head, the short fur is annoying to handstitch straight and i'm not completely happy about the eyes, i think they look a bit uncanny. But hard to do much about that on a cartoon character. All that's left is the arms now.

They look uncanny 'cause the pupil & iris are way too small. Other than that, looks alright.
>>
>>9639942
Good point, maybe i can fix them up a little bit. i didn't count in the extra sclera white you get from adding a foam border.. Mad respect for fursuiters who make their heads look amazing though, this is so hard to make it look convincing
>>
>>9639944
are they supposed to be follow me eyes? if so the pupil/iris need to be in the center of the eye. having them off center will mess with the following effect.

No not really, the head doesnt have the right shape for it like real fursuit heads, so i only added a very small border to help with the eye attachment. But it looks a lot better already with bigger eyes
