Whatever, I'm going to japan weekend madrid for the first time? is it any good? The only "big cons" I've gone to SDM jw barcelona and jw valencia for comparison purposes.
>>
Anybody went to FicZone? I checked out their webpage just for curiosity and last year they did so many different activities and only for 5€???? And they had Akira fucking Yamaoka as a guest too! Not sure if it's just bait to lure otacos, but comparing it to JW or FICOMIC, FicZone seems much better...

Also, Albanime has good reviews overall, but people said to me it's only worth it if you live nearby.
>>
>>9688362
I heard good things about FicZone, they'd need to improve their facilities and choose a better venue but they're really trying and improving every year.
>>
>>9688362
FicZone is by far my fav con. And it just keeps getting better.
>>
>>9688505
Would it be worth it to do all the way from Barcelona to the con? I don't know anyone around the area so it would be kinda risky and expensive going there.
>>
>>9687870
I like a lot JW, the Artist Alley (or Artist House in this case) is so big and I'm really happy to see so many artists. Also, they're really kind with cosplayers and you can ask any doubt with the staff. JW have a lot of activities ever and when I went on September I could't look all I want to do.
It's like SDM but fixing all the problems SDM have, and JW BCN but bigger. The entry costs nearby the same as SDM and I enjoy more than SDM.
>>
>>9688362
Where is Ficzone con? There is so much cons on Spain
>>
>>9688514
It's in Granada, you could just google it tho.
>>
Can somebody give me a reason as to why are there so many classic/Gothic lolitas in this country? They outweigh sweet a lot,or at least that's what I feel.
>>
>>9688510
Seconding this, I'm from Barcelona too, I haven't really traveled much in my life so I feel a bit scared of going all the way to Granada... I don't know if they organize buses to the con from other cities or have any kind of train ticket discounts, like other cons already do, but I recall seeing a "camping zone" in their website for staying at night or something like that. I should check out their website again for more info.
>>
>>9688530
Now that you mention it... I haven't seen a lot of lolitas in general outside of cons (except milanoo-tier itas, but we don't count those), but all I've seen in my city are classic or gothic. I imagine because it's more discrete?
Most people in our country would probably overreact if they saw a walking wedding cake desu.
>>
>>9688530
I think it's just that classic/qothic is recently becoming more popular worldwide, because it's less "childish" and more wearable, as >>9688566
says. I only wear sweet desu and I'm almost the only one in my con, the rest prefer classic or gothic.
>>
>>9687842
Delete this bait thread
>>
>>9688362
I've lost faith in anime cons, but Ficzone surprised me. Now is one of the only cons I go.
>>9688530
I dunno, I usually wear both, first because I like both styles, and 2nd, Spain is full retarded, full of "canis", gothic and classic are more toned down and I've got some problems outside, I cannot even imagine dressed as sweet...
>>
>>9688530
For my surprise, I saw a lot of sweet and classic lolitas in SDM, but 0 gothic
>>
>>9688566
If I wear dresses with polka dots or frills/ruffles I'll probably be told that's not la feria so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just fuck it,I'm not calling anyone out for wearing fake Adidas from el mercadillo de los domingos
>>
>>9688742
>>9688615
If for me as a cosplayer going from home to the con is the worst part... I just couldn't bear feeling like that every day. I guess you just have to grow a thick skin.
>>
>>9688813
Same here. If I'm at another city fuck it, I'll walk to the hostal while cosplaying or even go eat or shopping in cosplay if I need to, I mean I live literally at the opposite part of Spain from Barcelona, who's gonna recognize me? But at my city, yikes, I'll just get changed in the bathroom or something. Not risking a neighbour or my hairdresser seeing me walking down the street in full armor or with an extreme cleavage, nope. I'm a pretty boring and normal person irl and don't want people thinking I'm like the jojo guy from First Dates.
>>
>>9688615
>>9688505
Well I guess I'll give it a try then, I will try convince some of my friends but I guess i'll end up going alone.
Do you go to cons alone? I always go with a group of friends so I'm shit at socialicing. Any tips to make friends in a con without looking like a creep?
>>
Does anyone remember when Atelier Pierrot said they were considering opening a store in Seville? It's such a pity they didn't. I'm not from there, are there any Gothic/alternative clothing stores that made them think it could work(but I say it probably wouldn't have done)???
>>
>>9690774
Isn't Seville kind of a weird choice? I know it's a big city, but wouldn't make more sense to open a store in Madrid or Barcelona?
Well, anyways lolita is not widely spread in spain so I don't know if they would do well anyways. I only know of one store that sells lolita in Barcelona, and I don't think they sell a lot.
>>
>>9690780
Some atelier Pierrot pieces could also work for western Gothic, that's why I was asking if there was a goth community (not in the Lolita sense of community) in the city. I do think Madame Chocolat sells
enough though? Never been there either, oops
>>
>>9690783
They used to have a bigger shop it was gorgeous and well positioned in a busy street, now they are in a really small shop in a smaller street. I guess they didn't sell much. It sucks desu, I loved to lurk, and I still do, but it's just not the same.
>>
>>9690774
Listen, brands will say they are considering it when you ask, but that doesn’t mean they will. Don’t be a fool, it’s then being polite.
>>
>>9690774

I bet they've never been there during summertime, with +45º temperatures...

There used to be a quite big goth comm there, and a couple of gothic shops, but that was a long time ago I must say. Don't know about nowadays.

Anyway, I'm with >>9690792, brands are always gonna be polite when you ask something like this. Maybe they said "Seville" because it sounds more exotic than Madrid or Barcelona; maybe because they visited and liked the city... Who knows.
>>
>>9690786

Actually, Norma Comics force them to leave the big store, so they had to move to a smaller place.
>>
>>9690836
>Forcing one of the most iconic shops in the city to move just to put a shitty bar nobody likes.
Norma are a bunch of shitbags. I miss the old shop.

They have a big store next to where madame chocolat was, and they wanted to expand it and make a bar that was connected to the store, and so, they decided to force them to move.
>>
>>9690853

I hate them too, especially because I know people who work there and I've heard some horror stories about how they treat their workers and clients.

Hello gulls! I want to make my first order through taobao, the packet will weight about 2kgs and be worth 100€~. How many chances do I have to get caught by customs? Are some shipping methods more likely to be hit with extra fees than others?
>>
>>9690996
A few tips:
>Big packages tend to get caught more often in customs
>100% of the times I ordered via EMS (anything, not just Taobao) got caught in customs
>Customs fees are expensive af
>Some shopping services mark down the real cost of your order to try avoiding customs, but big packages usally get checked

I'd advise you to split your order into small packets, or otherwise get ready to give all your money to the Correos guy. Good luck anon!
>>
>>9691012
Nayrt i'm going to cancel my order now. I can't afford any custom fees, especially with the SS around the corner. Will they give me my money back? I already paid for the items, just not the shipping.
>>
Silly question but I really have no clue about this.

Do you know any store or place (around Barcelona if possible) that make custom badges for a reasonable price? I need some for my itabag, I only need like 4 or 5 badges with different prints, but the online stores I found are pretty pricey for small orders...
>>
>>9690872
Man, I miss when Madame Chocolat was there
>>
>>9691842
Why don't you tried a "copisteria"? For sure they can do pins
>>
>>9691872
>>9691874
Copy centers in my area don't make button badges (I live far from the capital), and the online stores I found are only worth it for big quantities. I'm sure there should be places in Barcelona to make badges or even online Spanish stores but I don't know any, so that's why I'm asking for help...
>>
>>9691883

At Duduá they used to make badges, but I'm not quite sure if they still do. Maybe you can ask them!
>>
>>9691890

Also, I used google ("hacer chapas Barcelona" and I found a couple of places that seems interesting to you: La Chapiterie and Chapalandia. Not so cheap but if you just want 5-6 maybe is what you need.
>>
>>9691890
>>9691892
I'll take a look at those, thank you!
>>
>>9691372
>>9690996
If you're under 2kg you're safe
They only check the declared value outside the package (so ask your SS to declare as 21 euro or below, only always check when they're metal, batteries, food, flammable goods or dangerous.

I have the feeling that lately it's become harder
for me to meet new people at cons, and I don't know if it is because with time I've improved at telling apart the toxic people, or the spanish con scene has become worse.
I've thought of doing a spanish /cgl/ discor server, but i think I'll wait until this is more consolidated and we build a decent community I guess.
I kinda miss the old days when I didn't give a fuck and met lots of people, it had some bad moments but good ones as well.
>>
>>9694258
Idk about the con scene because I just go there and buy merch and do my thing with my friends, but I feel that cons here in Spain have become more of a "mainstream nerdy" thing??? Lots of totoro(don't get me wrong I do love that movie) and that kind of stuff
>>
>>9694303
That is what I mean. It's the same for me, I go with my friends and do our thing. I'd just like to meet new people.

Tbh I miss being in the artist alley, you always talk with a lot of people and it's a los of fun if you go with friends, It's been more than a year since I had a stand . Sadly all my friends stopped because of poor sales.
>>
>>9694314
Well, social media makes a lot. This year i made a twitter and I have a few friends. Thanks to twitter I'd interact casually with people with I have interest in common or a friend of a friend. Now, when I go to a con I talk with a lot of people thanks to that.
>>

>>
>>9697183
It's not the vest I've seen, but absolutely not the worst by far. About the self insert... I don't know the artist, but if this is a self insert for promotion as a cosplayer... That's pretty egotistical and sad desu.

You can think that at least it's not like pic related.
>>
>>9697159
In Málaga,it's not a con,it's a Lolita event
>>
I could probably ask in the AliExpress thread, but since it's specific to Spain: do knifes and stuff like that get to your home safely,or will they be taken by customs?
>>
>>9697209
Oups, nevermind anon, I hope you have fun there anyways
>>9697211
I once ordered a swiss knife and never had any problem with customs in aliexpress. I think that as long as it's not a machete or a sword or something like that you won't have any problem
>>
I'm going to have a stand in JW Madrid next year, but it's my first time having a stand so I'm kind of nervous. I don't know which fandoms are the most popular here (I'm preparing lovelive, overwatch, and bnha stuff, but i'm at lost for more), or how much supply I should bring.

I know theres an AA thread in /cgl/ but it's mostly USA-focused so I'd rather know tips for Spanish cons. Any tips that could help?
>>
>>9697250
I've been into AA stuff for a year or so and I'm also going to JW madrid for the fist time next year.
My advice is that you have to find a sweet spot between popular stuff and fandoms that don't get a lot of merchandise. I made overwatch prints and keychains and I sold almost nothing, because the market is oversaturated with overwatch merchandise. But in the other hand, osomatsu for example is a great fandom to make merchandise for example. Because it is fairly popular but it's realy hard to find merchandise in cons.
Another option you have is to make some original cute stuff, because maybe that won't sell as well as a popular fandom, but you don't have the hurry of selling it before it becomes unpopular.
The only thing I can tell you is that if this is your first time, you probably won't make a lot of money. So go there to have fun and meet people, most of the people in the artist alley are really nice and open.
Have fun!
>>
>>9697262
I see, thank you! I made some stuff for other fandoms that used to be popular here too. I hope it goes well.
If you don't mind me asking, how much do you usually gain per con? How many prints/charms do you usually have prepared?
>>
>>9697323
It depends, In some cons I've made barely enough to cover costs, and in others I made up to 200 euros in two days, but I don't go to very big cons anyways. I'ts not a lot, but i know people who make over 1000 euros at big cons.
My recommendation is that you don't make a lot of copies.

I go with arround four to six copies of the prints because they don't sell very well and are relatively expensive to print.

Stickers are really cheap so I make a fair ammount , maybe two pages of each design, and i cut some of them in the stand to pass time.

Acrylic keychains sell very well but are generaly expensive to make, about that, if you are confident of your designs, I'd maybe make like ten of each and I'd try to ask other people to make a group order to cheapen the shipping.

Maybe you know but there is a spanish artist alley facebook group, I'ts great to ask stuff like this, and it's always good to hear opinions from more experienced people. It's a private group but if you are interested on joining, drop a contact.
>>
>>9697366
Thank you so much! I joined some time ago, but I'm too shy to ask anything haha. Do they usually arrange group orders there?

Thank you so much again, truly. This has helped me a lot!
>>
>>9697366
Other anon here interesting in make a stand someday. This is really interesting, fanzines are good to sell? I want to make some original story but I'm not really confident to sell it, years ago AA was full of fanzines, nowadays barely I can see it.
>>
>>9698392
If you wanna do a fanzine go for it anon, but I don't recommend you to make a stand by yourself just to sell one fanzine. Maybe try to make other stuff to sell as well, or join a group, because otherwise i doubt you will get any income.
I'm part of a fanzine myself, but it's from a group that has been doing some others in the past and have a bunch of tomes selling. And apart from that, I have a stand with a bunch of friends where we sell the typical merchandise.
>>
>>9692028
Are you fat, anon? Only fat people who wear dresses are called mesa camilla in Spain.
>>
>>9698606
I guess it's because of the petti...
>>
>>9698606

That must be in your town anon because on mine we've always called someone "mesa camilla" when they're wearing a huge skirt.
>>
>>9699588
To get that shape you need to be obese, no offence.
>>
>>9699898

No offence was taken, anon.
Sometimes we use same expressions to refer to different things because I swear that I've never heard the mesa camilla expression to call someone fat!
>>
I have a doubt, in big cons I always see a lot of grown men taking photos of cosplayers, they usually have pretty good cameras so I always assumed they were "professional" photografers.
But I can't find any pages that uploads those photos.
Do they keep them for themselves? because that would be pretty creepy.
>>
How is JW Valencia going as in stands/AA? It seemed mostly empty from a consumers point of view.
>>
>>9705065
Most of that guys are press from newspapers. Others have fb page but they didn't have muchos self promotion. Always ask if the photographer have a website.
>>
I want to go to JW Madrid cosplaying, but my friends don't want to come and I fear it will be weird to go alone.

Spanish cosplay in a nutshell.
They can't even stand a fucking opinion, if they get so triggered for a random's comment they shouldn't get on stage.
At this point I don't even bother with contests, it's all rigged.
I feel bad for all the people who put their soul and heart in the performance.
>>
>>9707594
>>9707597
Oh dear god, this again?? They always do the same fucking thing when somebody shares their opinion, do they even get tired of shitting on random people on Twitter?? It's common sense, i mean, if you show yourself in public, you have to be open to criticism because there will always be someone who doesn't like your work! And they even brag about being tolerant and openminded. Bunch of hypocrites.
>>
>>9707594
well, I saw Chachimina performance and the other LoL performance and Chachimina's group was better, in cosplay skills and performance in general.
The others are just crybabys because "Cachimina copied me cuz I'm also doing the same cosplay and she only won cuz she's more famous than me ughhhh"
>>
>>9707690
also same anon, I really didn't saw the others performances and I can't say if really Chachimina deserve to win, but at least her group was better than the other.

Any idea if the Japan Weekend Artist Alleys get chosen by jury or first come first serve? How quick do you have to be to get a spot in Madrid or Barcelona?
>>
>>9711796
I'm not really in Artist Alley but some friends do (if anybody is really into it please correct me). Most of the time is they choose the first to inscribe, but in ocasions they choose others because they participate in other JW and they know they're relliable or just make something different inside the AA. And you have to be like REALLY QUICK to send the solicitude. In Madrid and Barcelona AA go really fast, like just 30 minuts to be full.
>>
>>9712619
This. Check the hour the applications start, they post them a few weeks before they begin, and be ready, you have to be quick.

Because they are lamecoños de Koibito, maybe? Or they want to see the famous cosplayers from overseas. Which it's fucking impossible since Koibito kidnaps them for her shitty photoshoots.

>>9714824
As a former visitor of these cons, I used to go there to meet my friends from all over spain, watch the guests performances and some contests and lurk in the artist alley.
Nowadays I go to sell my stuff in the AA, people are nice and even if you don't sell much, you can have a good time.
>>
Do they really take 2 weeks to see who got in the Artist Alley?
>>
>>9715707
I don't know but this is arbage, I have to book my flight as soon as possible but I can't until they confirm it.
There are just too many people who want a stand now and the worst par is that there is no quality control, so some good artists are going to get rejected while lots of shitty novices are going to have their stand.
>>
>>9715736
Right. I just don't understand why they don't do jury. They already take 2 whole weeks for something that would take 4 days at max, might as well just make it jury-based lol.

Is one of those people who at first glance is super nice, but once you befriend her and she gets bored of you she tosses you however she likes. When I saw the video they made of her I was mad the whole time. What a dumb hypocrite. And now that people give her a lot more attention she is even more of a cunt.

I never knew her until that video but after checking out 1/2 in her own channel,I knew something about her was...not as welcoming and accepting as she would like everyone to be with her.

Sounds intriguing. Any examples?

I'm too lazy to go watch her videos again and give her more famita. Also it's more like a feeling? Than something you can support with solid evidence

If somebody want to go to the Japan Weekend you can add me to discord GorkaCG #3196

I used to go with some cringy otaku friends, I enjoyed their company, but they were cringy as fuck. And there were like 2 emos and an edgelord that managed to destroy the group. But the thing is that I really miss them, I tried to reunite the group but it was impossible because lots of drama happened. Now I just go with my little brother and some lonely friend.

Mesa = table. The thick tablecloth over it evolves a regular table into a "mesa camilla". Japan has a twin called kotatsu, which works wonders in winter + extra heating. Charcoal was a thing decades ago (still a thing in the countryside?), but cities have electrical heating everywhere
That's the closest local equivalent to a ridiculous puffy skirt with a petticoat and (perhaps) a fat lolita

Has anyone made a big order online recently? Me and everyone I've asked has been hit so hard by customs, I don't know if the usually do it around christmas time or they just changed their policies from now on.

Btw, don't let a single incel from forocoches ruin the whole thread, the mods will just delete his posts eventually.

I just ordered like 400 charms yesterday, youre scaring me anon. How much are customs usually? The box itself shouldn't be so big but itd be marked as large amount of money
>>
>>9722934
I made an order on taobao, arround 3,5 kg, it cost me 100 euros, and the customs were 36 euros, a friend bought a single figurine in amiami that costed 120 and his customs were 40 euros, so you can figure its pretty excessive.
I'm worried this could continue after christmas time...
>>
>>9723026
Oh no. I've saved some for custom but that still sucks, i hope its not more than 40 euros.
>>
>>9723026
Now I'm scared to order a Guts figure that costs around 70 euros.
