There were a few cosplayers named in the last thread, does anyone else know a few instagram cosplayers to follow? A few lesser known would be nice too, am getting a bit tired of some of the circle jerking that's going on.

Is anybody else disappointed with the judges for Animecon this year?
Its like they are running out on cool judges. Feels like next thing they will announce is Will and Reika comming back....

Why are two of the lolita mods leaving around the same time? I liked both of them
>>
>>9713323

Twin cosplay, Ororo, Kamui. Idk someone new.
>>
>>9713375
For the first one life. And the other probably felt like it was getting “a bit too hot under her feet”
>>
>>9713375
The first left because she had to shoulder most of the work and with personal life stuff it was becoming too much for her. The second left because people were wondering who she was (“Wait, there were more than two mods?”) and that triggered her or something.
>>
>>9713380
God no, who, already was a guest in 2014
>>
>>9713308

Actually, not at all. The primary function of a good judge is being a judge. They had a bunch of famous people last year and it rained complains because the judges couldn't even get up out of their chair to check out costumes up close. What they need this year is to fix that and find some judges that will put some effort into it and know what they're doing outside of their very specific niche.
>>
>>9713452
aw shit I quoted the wrong tweet. This was about Animecon judges obviously: >>9713452

Anyway, now that we are talking about good cosplayers to follow on IG, what are some good cosplay photographers to follow on IG. I prefer dutchies.

I don't even go to meets and I knew she was a mod. I know there were people in the last thread saying there's a mod who doesn't wear lolita but that can't be her, can it?

>>9713466

>>9713308
God, I don't think anyone would want to see pretzl in a jinx outfit. Or did she make some custom design crap again?
>>
>>9713496
Ofcourse she did.
>>
>>9713523
I don't know what i expected, of course she did.
>>
>>9713452
If a judge sits there like a sac of potatoes its the crews job to tell them its not expected behavior.
Point is cool judges make people want to compete. Know judges have the disadvantage that they have friends in the dutch cosplay community. I know Mizuki is friends with Taeyong. So are some of the other people that participate every year.
If you want to keep the "onpartijdigheid" then you need to have atleast 50% new judges.
Also Kamui and Yaya are great judges because they see the "marketable" side of cosplay and that is a different way of judging than "this could win compo X"
>>
>>9713452
Also Inviting the same people over and over, just comes over as lazy.
>>
>>9713774
All judges are instructed to judge basted on the competition's rules & guidelines as well as overal craftsmanship AND showmanship. After all, for international preliminaries they have to choose someone they think is worthy of representing the country in the finals.
>>
>>9713452
This was also the case two years ago, them sitting in their chairs, not giving any genuine reactions, you had to sell your costume and show them details instead of them getting up and getting a good look.
>>
>>9713308
What else is new. What is even worse is that she made her friends suggest her under a DCC post asking who they would want to see as a judge.
>>
>>9713465
I've been in the comm for four years, regularly attending meets, and have only met her once.

>>9713466
Depends on your standards I suppose. When I met her she was wearing a dress that might have been from a lolita brand, but if I'd seen her on the street rather than at a lolita meetup I would never have clocked it as an attempt at a lolita outfit. It was like someone tried to wear an old prom dress casually by coording it with basics from H&M.
>>
So I see Viencon is still desperately trying to promote their event, by seeing all those Facebook posts... What do you guys think?
>>
>>9713871
the event sounds like fun, but seeing what is happening, I don't think they'll survive.
>>
>>9713875
Just dont.
Please stop spamming this photo everywhere. Only 2-3 people get it, the rest is just confused or cringes. It does not make anyone want to go to viencon more. It actually makes them want to go less.
>>
>>9713781
>>9713774
Even when you instruct your judges on how to rate costumes, there is no guarantee they will actually do as told. Some people are lazy or simply not as professional as they like to make people believe. Besides I can already think of a few Dutch cosplayers with some judging experience who wouldn't mind letting personal matters affect their judging. Whether this is going easy on friends or granting lower scores on those they dislike is up to you. For this reason alone I would refrain from having any judges from your own community.
>>
>>9713871

So? As if being critical is a bad thing. Perhaps if Viencon had a few people capable of critical thinking on their team they would had learned something from their previous attempt.
>>
>>9713919
I didnt say its bad. Its indeed good. Many people who were enthousiastic didnt realise this. And now they know. Noone changed their minds its just the way it is. People need to be more conscious. idd.

Miradel, starsofgemini, velvet art of course, moriartician, dazzle has an insta but doesnt seem to be very active
>>
>>9713871
I think it's a little too late now.
I wasn't planning on going in the first place. So far I haven't seen any great activities that makes me want to book. and the onces they did post are a bit questionable. Activities like a night life photography workshop, does not make any sense at a conventions aimed at cosplayers.

And the desperate promoting also makes me want to go even less. They had all this time to promote their event properly, but didn't do anything.

>>
>>9713964
Then to both, there are tons of reasons about a convention on a Bungalow park/swimming pool that will make it a succes. Its all whats needed to convince me. That part seemed obvious to me.

So its not like my reason is a bullshit convention like tomofair. Which offers absolutely nothing new.

The evetn doesnt even need any management just gettign together with a large groups of cosplayers is enough for me. This park makes it tons better then other locations.
>>
>>9713960
In the event that you're actually being serious; sorry, but I only preach realistic thinking. Being positive and having dreams is nice, but one should never lose themselves in them. I can respect the Viencon staff for being motivated and actually trying, but that doesn't mean I should blindly support them along the way. I'd rather be salty as you keep calling me than a hopeless dreamer.

The simple fact is Anon, Viencon already had a failed attempt at hosting a convention. Instead of evaluating and learning a thing or two about the why it went wrong last time, they've decided to ignore it all and to do the same thing once more, all while expecting things to be different somehow. In terms of finances they struggling because they are relying on ticket sales, which to most conventions is just a nice bonus they wont really see until a few months before the con. Simply put, dealers rooms and sponsors are where the real money is to be made and Viencon seems to have neither. Then there's how they claim to need at least 1250 visitors to even make Viencon happen in the first place. For a newcomer on the scene, without any reputation, this is just madness. All cons start small and expend only once the demand is there. Instead here they are hoping to somehow pull off a cosplay and photography con with +1250 people during their first edition. I can tell you already, that's not going to happen. Hell, just look at the reach of their Facebook posts: 24 entire likes on their swan song post. If that doesn't open your eyes nothing will.
>>
Wonder if there's anyone in this thread that supports a Patreon cosplayer. If there is anyone out there please say why you support them, seems like such a stupid thing to do.
>>
>>9713982
I used to support thegriffinqueen for my research for remote controlled wings. Just one month though and I found the technical info I needed (it wasn't much desu).
>>
>>9713973
Oke
>>
>>9713979
I know they failed and agree with you strongly on that. But that doesnt mean I believe this event wont be great. And that doesnt mean I would abandon it. There are more events which the management sucks. That has never stopped me from going. locationa nd people who are going etc. are also very viable points. So no management isnt everything which makes me like a con.
>>
>>9713989
Yeah I hate this thread system XD whatever dont know what or who im tagging.
>>
>>9713975
Tons of reasons? Really? I can name a few, and it isn't convincing me to go.

The whole thing with Tomo is that they are doing promotion the right way. All their events are not interesting to me, because of the way they work with people. I have better things to do.

If you want a park filled with large groups of cosplayers without any management, that is cool. But don't call it a convention. Call it a meeting.

>>9713979
I agree on what you say, anon.
>>
>>9714000
Well at least now you understand why I am going. And yes you see that mangement from Tomo has more experience and all that, superb marketing right. And the event still sucks, so there you go. Who says that matters for how much I enjoy an event.
>>
>>9713996
You disgust me.
>>
>>9714015
I still like you though. *cries*
>>
>>9714009
I hope for everybody interested that the meeting will go on. The concept seems interesting (still not convincing me to go, but hey.. not all events are made for the same audience)
>>
>>9714009
But Anon, how will you enjoy an event that will inevitably get cancelled for not meeting their required visitor amount?
>>
>>9714020
If it doesnt get cancelled. I will. Just think people have decided not to commit for the wrong reasons. Who cares they did it wrong we could still try to make this thing happen. Thats why I still want to get it done. If youre not onboard its fine, I understand, just no need to shoot me down for trying..
>>
>>9713979
I would absolutely love to see Viencon happen, and a lot of the staff members are my friends, so I would have wished them well even if the concept didn't interest me. But I agree that they haven't planned it out well. I don't think they'll meet the target, because they started way too late with promoting to reach that target. I saw a post from Dokomi, which I guess was a good idea to get some foreign visitors, but I don't think any of them is going to book right away. Most people need a bit of thinking time with these things (and just 4 days of thinking time isn't enough). And I agree with you, sponsors were a better choice to focus on than visitors anyway. It's sad. I secretly hope they will still reach their target, but hmm...
>>
>>9714018
I hope they'll post something interesting for once, though. All I see is photography for this and that, alcohol and how to do waterproof makeup (which is superhandy as you are already at the con you'd use it for.) Next to some competitions, there isn't much offered yet. Where is the dealerroom, gameroom, interesting lectures and ,most of all, where are the fun games and dance workshops!?1
>>
>>9714032
>not to commit for the wrong reasons
I disagree. It's not a cheap commitment for almost nothing promised.

>>9714063
I'd love to see it happen too. But it would've had a much higher chance of survival as a one-day event in a subtropical swimming pool that's a little easier to reach, rather than instantly trying to do an entire weekend. It'd also be nice if there were at least some events, even if it's as idiotic as a waterpolo tournament for weebs.

>>9714087
Well yes, this. Do some water-related events. Races, games, or even workout classes in the water.
>>
>>9714099
I'm so down for a waterpolo tournament for weebs
>>
>>9714099
Its a cheap commitment. You get a bungalow with more space and stuff in it than a cramped hotel. You get the park and a swimmingpool. It is cheap. Where do they get ticket price out of btw?. I guess they spend more than they receive. It is alot for just that price. They are also posting more and more stuff and you are still not convinced they will try to fill the event with stuff. Ofc they will. Gamerooms are easy to fix btw. There are already entertainment things to do in a bungalow park. And if it faila you get the money back.
>>
>>9714130
one weekend with bad weather and everything is ruined though
>>
>>9714173
Partially true, but sure your not just fishing for things that make it go wrong. There is alot of indoor stuff too actualy. Did you even check the parks site?
>>
>>9714130
It's not cheap /to me/. Maybe for those who have that kind of money laying around. But not me.
>>
>>9714130
Yeah, the bungalow is a plus. However, I do think you have to reconsider about the price. It may seem cheap for you, but not everyone has the money laying around. Especially not if you don't want to stay in a 8-person cabin with strangers or loud people who will probably want to drink and party. They are posting more stuff... today. before that only a few competitions were announced. Gamerooms are easy to fix and most of those suck. The only good gameroom is at Animecon at this moment. I go to a convention for the fun and activities, not to go to a bungalow park. I'd want to cosplay and walk around and do things related to my hobby. The swimming pool and shitty arcade are just a plus for photography.

Please stop trying to get the people on here to praise viencon for things they didn't do yet.

>>9714186
We're not fishing for things that make it go wrong. It is perfectly logical to doubt if this con will ever take off as the staff has been over confident and lacking in certain aspects. A location of a con shouldn't be the main, and at the moment the only, reason to go to a convention.
>>
As a new lolita (still building my first coord), mods who are well-known by the community are far more intimidating. It's a big community of a niche hobby, they are practically e-famous. I really don't understand the people who don't bring up issues if they haven't met the moderator beforehand. They expect the mods to be like Misako or something. I wonder what they do if someone mistreats them on LM or CoF. But I'm so shy I can't even comment on that post.
>>
>>9714251
I think you are confusing being well-known with being approachable. People are asking for moderators they have actually spoken to at a meet up. That they don't need to introduce themselves to in a message on Facebook when they have an issue. One that they can not only approach at meet up but one that approaches them at a meet up even just to introduce themselves and say hi. Some of the more approachable lolitas don't even have Instagram and aren't well know by other comms or people online.
>>
>>9714251
Except for one girl in the comm, practically no one in the Dutch Lolita comm is e-famous. Besides they don’t want a mods to be e-famous or anything, they just want a mod that they can know personally. Someone who shows up at meets, etc. Instead of a stranger they don’t know, who gives off a feeling of unreachability.
Also I think it’s a bit weird that you can’t understand the people who don’t dare to bring up issues to mods, when you are also to shy to react to the post yourself. Maybe those people are also to shy to contact a stranger (the mod)?
>>
>>9714279
>That they don't need to introduce themselves to
Maybe I don't get it but it sounds like you want the mod to know all members or all members to know the mod

>>9714288
Because I already saw people don't like opinions that are different from the rest, from someone who is not active
>>
>>9714301
You don't think it's weird for an active member to have never interacted with any of the moderators? Or for the moderators to have barely interacted with the community to the point where no one has heard of them? A lot of people in these threads stated that they have only met two of them. If any of those people would have had an issue they most likely messaged the two of moderators the knew and not the three people they had never met. I don't think the next moderator needs to know literally everyone and vice versa but ideally every member in our comm that is active should encountered and interacted with at least one moderator.
>>
>>9714323
You have never met any of the mods? For real?
>>
>>9714342
Most people will have met those two (now one) that are active, but it’s not right that all the community liaison stuff is pushed onto two (now one) people because the other three can’t be bothered to show up. This disproportionate responsibility was probably part of why the one girl left even if she won’t come out and say it. She was working harder than she should have if the mod team was balanced.
>>
Is anyone familiar with the group “itsTheCarlChannel” always vlogs with at cons? The cosplayers are pretty unknown but actually funny.
>>
>>9714130
Well if it's a cheap commitment, why don't you pay for my poor students ass?

Seriously, how out of touch with reality are you? Just because it's relatively cheap doesn't make the equal price cheap.
With that logic I would live in a château in French, because €835.000 for 415m2 of living space and8ha of land is cheap.

Large part of the community are students who already have to split their money between books/materials, tuition fee and cosplay (not even speaking about rent and the likes).
Unless you have parents who (can) give more money than the average parent, 100 euro's is not cheap. Maybe doable, but not cheap.
>>
>>9714409
I find him more fun than those annoying dumbass Naruto vloggers
>>
>>9714489
Fine doable. Its more doable than getting a hotel and ticket at other events. I never said its difficult for students. Its a drawback tactic that you have to buy an accomodation.
>>
>>9714242
I understand your reasoning. Honestly this event is lacking what the big succesful events have like animecon. But this concepts potential is really high. But the managements execution makes me.think they didnt think thrrough enough. But still if it doesnt take off now and doesnt get support it might be a long time or never before another concept like this can be launched. Adding activities isnt hard but its not in the starting budget. But that doesnt mean its not planned for the future. For now they are spending more money on this than receiving. And if a starting con gets compared to big ones and then shot down it doesnt seem fair to use those comparisons. No event has a program this far ahead like someone already said on fb. So yes management did fail this event and yes it lacks a program for now making it less attractive. I still think this thing can grow. And so far ahead can be influenced by people like you. Maybe a convention to be build by cosplayers. I know that the management ask alot of questions about what people wanr for this event but rarely make big auggestions to ask the community. So yes I understand why you wouldnt pledge for this event. But at least you should understand why I pledge. I believe this can be great. I will most certainly be one of the people gicing feedback to the management later. Even if it fails. Im just thinking this can become like colossalcon or Aqualandia in NL. It has potential.
>>
>>9714626
>And if a starting con gets compared to big ones and then shot down it doesnt seem fair to use those comparisons.
They started it themselves with mentioning 'colossalcon'

Truth is though; I'd love to see such a concept. But as I said earlier; they should've started smaller. A single day event would've worked much better. Animecon didn't start out the way it did now either. Their first edition had between 200 and 300 visitors, as mentioned in the previous thread.

Shoot for the stars by all means, but make it realistic.

Well Colossalcon doesnt have much programs. They enjoy everything the resort has as activities. Which is ofc over the top: A small zoo and a seriously awesome arcade hall, their own robot arena. etc. So well they dont need much programming. But that location is ofc superb compared to CentreParcs XD One day test run would have been a good first step. But I guess centre parcs wouldnt want that. Or they would make it expensive for a one day evetn like that other park wanted last time. but I guess people would want to pay more for a one day event than being forced to pay for 3 days and an accomodation.
>>
>>9714684
This pretty much plus my friends take ages to pay me back and paying beforehand can be shitty because some people cancel last minute.
>>
Team Chaos just split up.
>>
>>9714691
You don't need centerparcs for a (subtropical) swimming pool.

Can you also please stop with the 'XD'?

>>9714695

>>

>>
>>9714702
Now Saku can fully commit to her lewd Patreon and doing cosplay porn
>>
>>9714710
I doubt saku is the reason of their break up. To be honest I was waiting for this to happen. Don't understand how they held out so long.
>>
>>9714710
Anon old news. Their patreon was already stopped months ago.
>>
>>9714626
No. Most event hosts get payed in tickets and/or after the event, so this is no excuse. There are lots of groups they could have contacted, but they didn't. They probably didnt visit Anigenda as well. They should actively ask organisations / cosplayers for events and workshops instead of waiting until they show up. That way they should've had more activities already.
There are enough people who'd be willing to host something.
>>
>>9714703
No, I like XD, its more on par with my mood.
>>
>>9714726
Agreed. Learning curve for next time, I think they will try again. Hopefully with better personnel and planning.
>>
>>9714710
But how will she do POV groping sets without a partner?
>>
>>9714728
I don't think they have the funds to try again since they put their savings into this. Also if I were center parks I'd stop trusting them after two failed tries.
>>
>>9714729
I think you have the wrong person. She never did anything in that direction. Honestly she never really did lewd, just sexy. Or unless you're the kind of person who has never seen a woman's legs before then her pictures were lewd yes
>>
>>9714737
No, Centre Parcs is a franchise, different owners of the parks.
>>
>>9714743
I can't find this information anywhere -- do you have a link? Afaik, all parks opened by themselves and not bought from other companies are owned and operated by the same management.

I don't think it matters much what the details are. I'm certainly curious, but there's not much known. I personally think it's just 'wanting different things'.

>>9714758
Sacrifice team chaos? It was doomed to fail. The whole thing was just waiting to blow up I mean if we are talking about it rationally I don't get how they stayed together so long.

>>9714761
Break up? Those two are still together though. I think they just have different ideas of what they want to do from now on.

>Viencon is on suicide watch again after having learned nothing from their previous attempt at hosting a con

What should they have learned in the first place?
>>
>>9714757
I said franchise, but its like it has filialen. Each of those have their own management. They dont converse alot on what one of them organizes, so small events are allowed. Albeit they have to follow some rules ofc. Because the company centre parcs has some control over their parcs. Its like pathe that hires cosplayers, most people think the pathe owner knows, he doesnt neitehr do the other pathe know one hires cosplay, they dotn need that kind of apporval, all of them manage and fix small events themselves. Yes, ofc there are rules for the entire company but as long as those are being enforced there is space for filiaalmanager to do his own thing. I dont think entire center parcs (worldwide) knows about viencon.

>Viencon attempt 1: cancelled due to a lack of reservations, content and general interest
>Viencon attempt 2: facing cancellation due to a lack of reservations, general interest and running out of funds
>Ignored how there isn't enough demand for such an event at this scale
>Ignored the importance the announcing content early on as a new convention
>Ignored how people had no clear idea on what Viencon was about or had to offer
>Ignored how ticket sales alone aren't a reliable source of income
Keep in mind that these are just a few things we picked up as outsiders and ave discussed in these threads before. Their staff with all their insider knowledge could had probably picked up so much more if they had stopped and think about where it went wrong last time.

Because the producer looks more and more like a lover while the boyfriend is made to look non-existent of her DCC experience. If my girlfriend would do that to me, she would get a smack.
>>
>>9715111
Nawh man, this is just the producer trying to get his moment of fame. The dude never would be noticed otherwise, now he has a pretty girl which finally gets him the spotlight too.

Professionally not the best choice, because Saku now needs to be charismatic enough to carry 2 people. But no weird love triangle happening
>>
>>9715111
That's because he doesn't like to be in front of the camera.
>>
>>9715120

>>
>>9715008
Correction: they won the DCC compo from last March, not the xmas edition.
>>
>>9715133
You're talking about 1 min of a 11 minute video.

I personally thought the vlog was really nice. It included a lot of what really goes on during such competition and also featured a lot of cosplayers which is nice to see as well. It's nice to see what happens backstage especially when you're not part of it. (Not a fan of competitions myself)
>>
>>9715150
Exactly my point. 1/11th of a convention vlog to showcase their sentimental bond with no other added value to the rest of the video or its purpose.

Anybody going Midwinterfair?
>>
>TomoFair will draw their usual audience of youngsters with little money to spend and some curious locals. They’ll also be handing out “free” tickets as always to everyone who bought a ticket so they’ll convince a friend to tag along to Tomo.
>Nishicon will mostly be visited by older members of the community with more money to spend. However judging by last year and how little people on FB are going or even interested in Nishicon I fear it’s going to be wasteland just like last year.
>Tomo charges good money for a stand meaning dealers have to sell more to break even. Dealers who mostly sell affordable mainstream stuff and snacks/candy will attend Tomo as they typically do good business there.
>Nishicon charges very little for a stand making it easier to break even. However Nishi’s low visitor numbers makes having a stand there a risk. Dealers who sell more expensive, specialized or handmade items will likely be at Nishicon.
So far for my predictions for both events. Also Kaomoji already announced they’ll be at Nishi back during the Tomo vs Nishicon fight so that's something.

Now what I'm curious to see is if GameRoomS will be at Nishicon now that it's an official part of Tomo and the two essentially hating eachother.
>>
>>9715655
I know that, but still.... It just feels like they're helping out friends rather than promote quality

So let me get this straight, in the last couple months they managed to get 79 people make a reservation for their bungalows, now THIS MORNING they posted that they needed 21 more reservations, so you're telling me that a minimum of 42 people suddenly decided to go to Viencon in a time span of 12 hours? I call bullshit and literally lying to have more people make a reservation.
>>
>>9715867
I call butthurt tomo
>>
>>9715867
>>9715870
No i also call bullshit. Just 2 hours ago they reported to still need 21 bookings. So in these couple of days nobody actually booked at all. But in the spawn of 2 hours they made it?
Good for them, I wasn’t planning on going anyways. But this is a bit too weird.
>>
>>9715870
I'm not a big fan of Tomo, I'm not from any con or organisation, I'm a sceptical Anon.

>>
>>9715878
I also am a bit surprised to see this, but if they really make it, then people did a good job of saving this convention. But they are still not sure if Viencon will go through. They have a new goal. And they are asking for sponsors now. If they manage it, they are doing well. But it is going with a LOT of effort last minute.. I hope they will not have to do that again.
>>
>>9715854
>"if you want to sponsor us mail here"

There are some people seriously emotionally invested in a "flop of a con that I wouldn't support anyway"
I mean how they filled the cottages isn't that much of a big deal as long as they did it and didn't have to cancel right. They still have a ways to go and it's more fun to just look how they'll manage rather than get so upset they didn't flop before the first deadline....
>>
>>9715854

Well, I guess we got played and they had enough reservations all along (real hoping this is the case and not that they bought the spots themselves).

>>9715931
>>9715884
>>9715866
Oh fuck off already. Just because people are passionate about something doesn't mean they shouldn't be criticized. In case you haven't noticed, a large portion of this thread has been nothing but crystal clear feedback on what Viencon needs to work on ASAP in order to not only make their con happen, but to make it a success. Instead of taking these observations so damned personally one could also be thankful and utilize them to improve things for the better. Can';t handle that? Then by all means leave and don't return until you've grown up. God, I do hope the Viencon staff are better than you...
>>
>>9715960
Sure I mean it's a good thing to criticizer something without giving it any space to grow successful. They succeed, you're not satisfied, they fail you're not satisfied. You get to make memes of a major setback and then you're mad because you're called childish for it. ;)
I mean i'm not saying you're the one that actively enjoys them failing and actively feel disappointed when things look a little brighter but this is a discussion. it doesn't mean we only have to point out flaws and call it feedback. I agree with feedback that will actually improve their situation but i don't enjoy putting viencon on a convention calender with the title: cancelled once more.
>>
>>9715972
> Sure, I mean it's a good thing to criticize something, but without giving it any space to grow succesfull?

I typod and gave myself aids ffs
>>
>>9715972
Oh I'm not mad. If anything I'm laughing quite hard right now at how serious you are taking these things. Are you really that upset about a silly little joke on a convention agenda that barely anyone even knows exists? Learn to lighten up love, not everything on the internet needs to be taken so damned seriously.

Like I’ve said before in a lengthy post >>9713979, I sincerely respect the Viencon staff for being motivated and actually trying to pull off a convention. That’s way more than you can say about most people within the Dutch community, whose ideas typically don't make it past launching a Facebook page. And allow me to make one thing perfectly clear; this isn’t a personal matter. This is about my views on Viencon as a convention and an organisation, not the individuals who run it. I know some people have trouble separating the two, so I’m just putting it out there to make sure everyone understands this.

Now believe it or not, I really want to believe Viencon will succeed. The Dutch convention scene is ripe for a new player and it’s rare to see a group of people dedicated enough to try, let alone a group with a fresh concept like this. However, seeing them making the same mistakes as last time makes this a very difficult thing for me to do. So, understandably, when the topic of Viencon is brought up, I will not hesitate to share my somewhat negative views, no matter how much I can respect them for trying. That’s simply the kind of person I am; blunt, yet honest.

And yes, like many others I too didn’t expect Viencon to hit their self-proposed booking target. Considering I was adding the 2018 conventions to the agenda I figured why not have some fun to break all the seriousness. Now, considering you care so much, why not join the Viencon staff? I believe this thread alone has provided you with enough pointers to make it so all of us can believe Viencon will be a success.

so because someone doesn't like the thing you like, they're ''elite'' lol ok
>>
>>9716417
I honestly agree with Zerkon Photography. He's been growing a lot the past year. I'm not too sure about Devon and Shadowbullet. They're still shit in my eyes. Devon is too much of a try-hard and Shadowbullet is colorblind.
>>
Well. As long as people shoot for free and at least know how to get a clear picture with basic editing knowledge, cosplayers dont mind it.

Most are happy someone takes a photo of them.. ugly or not.

They dont care if someone is a person with a really questionable reputation like dazzle, dazzle 0.8 ( fishgirl), robin up to now no drama morgan , autistic drama freaks like devon, somehow getting paid same trick velvet or that weird failing lovelive crossdressing cmv maker.. he makes at least some decent cmvs... better than that fat guy.
>>
>>9716441
I'd really rather not have anyone take ugly photos of me, actually. Especially if they're planning to put them online.
>>
I've seen way better shit than fishy's pictures. Fishy's photography is like beyond dirt tier. Like dogshit looks better than her pictures elegiggle.

Honestly, I don't care if they actually managed or that someone else threw in some money. I'm just excited to see that Viencon is still alive!

That's a pretty good description of her photos
>>
If this photo was any more "dynamic" it would be upside down.

Feels like you have a personal grudge against him/ her kek. I mean, fish is at least a few times better than shadowbullet and derkon or whatever his name is.

same anon again, not saying fish is the best but definitely not the worst

It's not difficult to be ''better'' than shadowbullet, though. My iPhone makes better photos than he does, so that doesn't say shit about fishy.

>>9716314
I checked him out and I'm impressed. He also shoops his models in a very nice way that makes them look really cute. Need to work with this guy too. Then at least I can be the cosplayer >>9716394 is looking for.
>>
>>9716152
>>9716488
Going through his pictures on his FB, they seem generally nice but this one particular looks very questionably shopped.
>>
>>9716500
Yeah because those petals were obviously there to begin with lol
>>
>>9716500
this is some cheap photoshop crap damn. Location seems kinda of a weird fit too.

It might not be one of his best images, but everyone's gotta learn and try stuff out. If you look at this photo, I think it's pretty amazing. NOBODY makes PERFECT images every single time. Try & Error

You should checkout his instagram. He seems to post a lot more there.

Yeah, her and moriartician are the nicest gals. They were together (maybe together 'together'?) at Castlefest past summer, they were patient and fun and I had a few nice pics more without having to wait too long. Would recommend.

Nothing needs to be done in order to have an opinion about someone's shitty-ass photos.
>>
>>9716536
Your opinion was just harsh man. As mentioned before everyone has to start somewhere. My first cosplay was also totally shit.
>>
>>9716515
Curious too, I smell some old and crusty drama and I need the deets on them.
>>
>>9716541
Old drama, I thought fishy just entered? But exactly I'm curious.

For someone to have such grudge against a newcomer, there must be some history between them.

>>9716540

It smells like a selfpost to me. Putting themselves on the map through (fake) controversy, as it were. Going OTT with the insults almost guarantees that people will sympathise with and defend the person being insulted.

>>9716555
Which happened. So now we're giving her exactly what she wants. Be proud

Dunno how well this translates into dealer sales, but as an artist my experience is that tomofair does MUCH better than nishicon. I do well at tomo while I know people had trouble even breaking even at nishi last year. People go to tomo expecting a market, so even if people are kinda cheap they're willing to spend some money. Meanwhile, nishi's artist alley was stuck in a bad place with no promo at a con with plenty other stuff to do.

As for tomo being expensive to table at: nishi tables are dirt cheap but you still pay the regular entrance fee, so it ends up costing more. And most people need sleeping accommodation for nishi while tomo is only one day (for now).

I really hope nishi can improve from last year, anyway. I want to see them succeed.
>>
>>9716614
Oh that's funny, my friend had it the other way around. Could barely break even with Tomo but did well at Nishicon.

I guess also depends on what you make. If you do a lot of fandoms young people like, I could imagine Tomo would be more profitable.

>>9716623

>>9716630
The fact that you can't tell wether a photo is good or bad is your own problem and if that made your life 200 procent better by all means go and have a party patting yourself on the back. Lots of people in this circle can't tell the difference between a good and a bad picture. Or a mediocre one being saved by a lot of editing. So many people who instantly think some cosplay picture is great just with an additional smear of colored brushed or layer and a vignette. But if you would take those pictures outside the cosplay circle those pictures are really a big joke. That you can't tell the difference doesn't make the picture good.
>>
>>9716644
by someone you mean yourself?
>>
A lot of the editing in cosplay photography looks like a 12y/o with their first makeup palette. It might look great to them and their friends. But it just looks like a child that put up too much make up in the wrong way for anyone outside cosplay photography. There is nothing wrong with editing itself and can be great when used correctly. And there are plenty of photographers that do cosplay that have pictures that still look fine outside the cosplay circle. An easy tell sign to know if a photographer is good is when their photos are great before and after editing or are great with little and or with lots of editing.
I like eugeneart_photography on instagram for that reason. Because you can see he makes great photos from simple to very elaborate. That's when you can tell it's not a photographer that needs autotune in order to sound good or even decent.
>>
eosAndy is another one that has great cosplay photos that still look great outside cosplay circles. You won't see layers of fake lensflare on his photos that often.
>>
>>9716653

He's a big time german photographer though, you can't compare that with the photographers in this thread.

Heya! Thanks for mentioning me.

It has been a pretty rough year for me, due to personal issues that I'd rather not talk about, especially not on 4Chan. I completely understand your statement of tryharding, but it's just getting better with photography as a whole. I've taken pictures for around a year now, and I feel unhappy on most of the pictures on Instagram. They're too ugly or overedited, so yeah. If anyone has feedback on my pictures, let me know please. I'll take every piece of feedback serious. :) ~Devon Keuben Photography
>>
>>9716676
That's true, but I didn't really meant for it to be a comparison. Just trying to explain the basics on how to tell good and bad photography in "Jip en Janneke Taal".
>>
>>9716653
Why don't you go make your life 400% better and leave this thread? Oh wait, you just love to hear what we have to say too much to improve your own life. How Ironic. :)

I'll stay positive about this: I'm improving myself as much as I can. I've been photographing for just 1 year and I know I can get better. It's just sad people think I'm a 'Drama Autist' while in fact I'm trying to improve myself. Ohwell. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
