How was your con?
Did you see any good panels?
What did you do for food?
How about dem lines?
>>
dear solaire, I love you and thank you for the memeing today
>>
>How was your con?
Friday was great because of the meetup I went to and the BRADIO concert. The rest was really average so I'd give it a 7/10 overall.

>Did you see any good panels?
Nope

>What did you do for food?
Walked 3 blocks north of the convention center for a billion options

>How about dem lines?
Didn't deal with any
>>
>How was your con?
Pretty good but I think I liked last years better in Dallas.

>Did you see any good panels?
Yeah.

>What did you do for food?
J's Burger was right down the street.

>How about dem lines?
Always annoying.

I liked the Omni overall. Very nice hotel. As usual, the heat and the general unhygienic population majority was a major annoyance.

6/10. See you next year.
>>

it was in Fort Worth

Please tell me he's ok bros
>>
>>9910265
He was just standing there. He ran into the shade when more people came by. At some point he tried to fly away but flew into a window and tried to climb a wall instead. :(
>>
>>9910268
Maybe he had a broken wing? Or had heat exhaustion or something? Poor guy.
>>
>>9910268
He probably hit the window to begin with and was just a bit stunned.
>>
So is anyone gonna post pictures or what
>>
Are we not going to galk about the tea party's nasty sandwiches or the walmart budget plastic rocks for tea party decorations? That food was awful, and buffet style wss terrible.
>>
>>9910539
God right? The worst tea party experience for food ever! Ratchet! Glassware ran out. The tea was sad. No cream. Opulace and elegance was lacking on this one.
>>
>>9910539
And who was the nasty red head man they let in? Thought it was strick jfash only? At least the coord winners were lovely and not babydoll or her bitch crew.
>>
>>9910539
Those sad business cards as gifts. Lol.
>>
>>9910539
I loved a majority of the people who showed up, lots of nicely dressed girls. There were several boogers though and the tea itself was mediocre.
>>
>>9910539
Not to mention the entitled e-fame bitches. Overheard Bitchydoll tell someone from the fashion show “you’re in the finale squad now, and you know that means something, because I wear finale pieces.” Can you be anymore up your own ass?
>>
>>9910555
I’ve heard that some have tried to say girlytoot is sweet and awkward but after meeting her in person this weekend she’s a bitch. I also heard her say to a girl “you know you’re good because I’ve worn that dress”. In the fashion show she walked like a damn chicken. It looked terrible.
>>
>>9910545
ive been questioning this guy since he walked in. i thoight it was lolita only, why this guy

also why does baby always bring out those terrible efame bitches? every year every time, like a magnet
>>
>>9910546
Rofl i liked the art but that was it? not to mention the staff was mean all weekend, i noticed they kept glaring at people like they were sniffing sour milk left and right and only trying to look nice around the guests. god dont like ugly.

the rest of the con looked nice tho, i wish i went to more panels. id never been to fort worth but it was really pretty, i got a cool coordinate shot in the city
>>
Most of the Lolitas at the con looked real ita. Like just bad. Either it was ott conlita or ita.
>>
>>9910569
even most the staff looked ugly tbqf
>>
>>9910585
Speaking of staff. Did they do a overhaul or something? Half of the staff wasn't the same as the last two years
>>
>>
>>9910598
More like underhaul. Whatever they did to get rid of them they should beg them to come back. This year was terrible.
>>
>>9910557
do these women not realize the only reason they're put in huge finale dresses is because they're tall? the common factor between them is that they're all tall white women with horse faces lol
>>
>>9910614
From the way the current staff treated attendees, I can imagine why the old staff left
>>
I love the massive cry to mail out the badges. Haven't the fucking retards figured out that A-Kon is cheap AF who will never mail out the badges? It would require them to pay for ways to secure them so that people couldn't duplicate them along with paying for a mailing service.

It will never ever happen. Can't stand lines? Go elsewhere or pay up.
>>
>>9910557
She is nice to some people. She was nice to me when I met her a few months ago anyway. Even stopped me in the hall to say hi even though our conversation only happened because she stood behind me in line.

Was she rude to you or are you saying she's a bitch because you over heard this? It's self absorbed but it doesn't make her an actual bitch. Spill the tea on what she did to you or stop being dramatic.
>>
>>9910657
>she was nice to me personally so don't call her a bitch
Everyone already knows she's a bitch, but don't be mean because it might bring back her legion of crybabies.

That said someone spill more deets.
>>
>>9910661
I didn't say don't call her a bitch? I said she was nice to "some people" and spill the tea. As in, if she is a bitch give us an actual account of it. Learn how to read you fucking mong.
>>
>>9910657
>>9910661
>>9910664

Granted I didn't actually interact with her when I was at the same event with her but she is very self absorbed and not very interactive with people who don't a) help her become more efamous or b) lick her ass. She didn't make much of an effort to interact with other people in her own comm at the event. She mostly kept to one small group and they literally just stood in a corner and took selfies all day. I think the only other person she interacted with was a girl who came up to her laying it on thick that she loved her instagram/blog/whatever. I can't say if she was mean or not, but she does come across as lacking self awareness and is very self centered.
>>
>>9910673
>I can't say if she was mean or not
>admits not to interacting with her
>calls her a bitch

This is why I always doubt people calling other lolitas bitches until they give their actual accounts of how they interacted. Yeah k8 is self absorbed as fuck but that doesn't make her a bitch? She's awkward and screams of autism but again, that doesn't make someone a bitch.
>>
>>9910678

I never called her a bitch, I'm a different anon.
>>
>>9910685
Then why not say that instead of replying to people asking someone else to post their specific interaction with her? If you didn't interact with her why post this at all? It adds literally nothing to either side.
>>
How was the cosplay contest?
>>
>>9910686

Because you were asking for experiences, and one can tell plenty from straight observation. I said she was pretty self absorbed which some people would interpret as bitchy, but was not straight up mean to people. No need to be salty anon.
>>
>>9910689
It was a little short but the costumes were amazing. Only like 40 people and like 5 skits. People brought the good armors this year.
>>
>>9910697
I asked for one specific persons experience. Are you that specific person? No? Then fuck off
>>
>>9910703
Damn, can you chill? Why are you all so offended about this girl anyway?
>>
>>9910703

Yeah getting your cereal pissed in by Girlytoot sucks. Hope you have a better day anon.
>>
>>9910716
I'm not "offended" over k8, I just have a low tolerance for retards.
>>
>>9910722

Sounds like you're overcompensating for something.
>>
>>9910726
>someone says they have a short temper when it comes to people being stupid
>s-sounds like you're overcompensating

This is the exact kind of retardation I'm talking about.
>>
>>9910096
did anyone else go to the jfashion show? i left like 15 mins in because i got a headache and it was a bit boring
>>
>>9910699
anyone got pictures of some of these? I missed the contest but would like to see what won or even just pictures of some of the neat ones
>>
>>9910729

Yeah it isn't like small minded people find relatively petty things to nitpick to maintain a false sense of control. You do you, more power to you on an anonymous Chinese basket weaving board!
>>
Ignoring the lolita shitstorm... Any specific events or panels y'all enjoyed? Any you hated?
>>
>>9910731
It was really dull for the first half. Who was thaf strange emcee dude in the cat ears?
>>
It was alright
>closest Whataburger not only got my order wrong but also there was a cockroach in my friends bag
>food options in fort worth is shit tier as always
>tournaments were suddenly pushed back a day
>some panels were goofed by no audio, running late or just being awful (like the danganronpa murder mystery)
Popcorn was good I guess, I bought a Heihachi figure and a Monokuma charm and placed well in my matches, even got to play in stage with a friend
Kind of a shame that most panels didn't seem interesting
>>
>>9910731
shitty and boring and some of the brands were really awful.
>>
Missed the concert, did not pick the right costumes for this con and regretted buying a badge. Food options were absolute shit tier.
It wasn’t bad, but not good either. Just the average A-kon but with a million more normies wandering around. Glad this is my last time attending before I move.
>>
>>9910881
dont even know who S is, sorry your programming was lame
>>
>>9910885
>>
I cant believe how shit the food options were.
>>
>>9910918
Yes I learned from last year
So I bought my own food and cooked
>>
>>9910918
That is convention center food catering what do you expect? All convention center food is crap. But most US tea parties run into having to use their venue's services.
>>
>>9910897
dont try dragging your old vendettas with your old staff into cgl and take it up with your current staff on what you did wrong and how to make it less terrible if you want to do this next year. you guys were rudely bossing people around backstage of the show and being hard to cooperate with, it was a good show because the designers do this all the time. we heard back late for modeling so I was stuck buying things last minute for the show because you couldnt be punctual on your own announcements. it was hard to talk to half of you if i had questions because the answers were very short or ignored when preparing for it. it was fun in the end but i thank the designers for that. i dont give a shit who your old staffers were but if your idea is to try a callout on 4chan then maybe you should use that energy to fix your problems. js.
>>
>>9910678
Uh yes it does? Being a self absorbed pos makes you a biiiiiiitch.
>>
>>9910974
Is it hurting anyone if all she does is take selfies? Because k8 posting 99999 pics of her face doesn't affect you in any way.
>>
>>9910938
Aww, are you triggered because you didn't get to kiss the Baby designers' asses and you were just there to wear their clothes? Staff was there to work with the designers, not be your personal assistants you entitled cunt.
>>
>>9910938
Going off of this, the only reason I brought up staff at all is because previous staff members felt kinder and approachable. If I had anything I needed during any of the events, I could talk to them. They were also very nice talked to me on their own without me having to approach them. However, this year it was hard to talk to anyone and I didn't see the usual staff members that I felt comfortable asking for help. I don't know your internal drama, nor do I care. But you guys need to work on your service skills. We PAID to go to the tea, you need to service us correctly.
>>
>>9910974
Uh she literally told a finale dress model “you know you’re good now because i’ve worn that dress.” She just says dumb shit.
>>
>>9910992
2018 staff confirmed for being rude assholes, thanks. i really hope you're not the one in charge because this is most embarassing behavior. i feel sorry for the dfw lolitas.

>>9910996
they're so bad at being personable. this was my second year going and probably my last just because of all of this, im already feeling uncomfortable thinking about going back.
>>
>>9911020
i'll be honest, i was pretty put off by some of the staff helping out with the fashion show too... this wasn't my first time modeling for something like this so i know it's not their job to cater to me, but being nice isn't hard. r**** put me off specifically.
>>
>>9911025
being nice takes like no effort. thats the one who was trandlating right?
>>
>>9911020
I'm not even on staff, I just know the bullshit they have to go through to make sure the con runs smoothly. Last year a brand designer outright complained about one of the "approachable" staff members because she never did anything right or even attempted to.

Glad you're not in the DFW comm. Keep causing problems in your own comm you whiny bitch.
>>
>>9911026
yes, she translated what the designers were saying during the tea party. lolitas don't need to be lovelies but she was outright rude backstage.
>>
>>9910926
This is my first Akon so I didn't know but at least I do now.

>>9910933
>That is convention center food catering what do you expect?
I was under the impression there were alot of fodd trucks and I was expecting that. Apparently that was only when it was back in Dallas though.

Having reasonably priced food that's still edible is like a necessity of cons. I'll bring food next year if I come again but ugh this was bad.
>>
>>9911025
I found the Baby translator was pretty rude to the models during the run through but was really nice whenever I saw her not working. I feel like she was just stressed out. I know that is not an excuse but maybe a bit of insight. Maybe they need to get more people to help out so they don't get so salty during.
>>
>>9911069
Yeah, they used to have so many in Dallas. All I saw was boba and snow cones. It was really frustrating.
>>
>>9911047
pretty sure youre staff, youre very hellbent on kissing up to them. its cute you dont have any actual defense on how shitty it was and just want to defend them by giving up the personal details that nobody asked about, isnt that a confidentiality issue?? if youre not staff it means either youre lying or current staff is gossipping with a blabbermouth who can't stay quiet on cgl. literally nobody gives a fuck about that, we're talking about the staff this year.

have fun with your pathetic little clique and your namecalling, you wont see me buying a ticket next year.
>>
>>9911047
Which guest complained?
>>
The tea party is not worth going to. Decorations were a candlestick with dollar tree roses glued to them. Food was absolutely vile. The very first tea party was leagues better
>>
>>9911047
Jesus Christ. Look. I work actual event staffing. Like I get paid to do this as a job, not some little weekend gig sometimes. I know how hard it is to make sure things run smooth. But I at least still know how to not act like a total cunt waffle. One model complains about rude staff and a tea attendee complains about the same thing. If you're not staff, why do you care so damn much? Friends with the staff? Then shut your mouth because this isn't about you. Mind your business you're making the staff look worse.

They were legitimate complaints and nothing even scathing was remarked. All that was said was "they're rude and need to work on that". That's it. Very unprofessional to remark back by calling people bitches. These are fellow attendees that you're talking about and people who VOLUNTEERED to model for the brands so that you know....there would be a show.

On that note, since you're apparently totally not staff, the fact that you're suddenly sharing private information about past staff members (who were only mentioned in passing) and private complaints means that you're not a very trustworthy person and the staff members who blabbed to you should really watch out what they say and to whom. No one asked for details people even said they didn't care about past drama. We're talking about the shitty attitude by current staff who need to work on that and YOUR attitude isn't helping. I didn't think the DFW comm had such loud and incredibly obnoxious lolitas who heavily white knighted people over legitimate concerns, but here we are. How ugly.
>>
>>9911076
>previous comments repeatedly saying staff members last year were nicer and easier to talk to
>W-we're talking about THIS year, anon!

Enjoy not coming next year. Tea party tickets always sell out quickly and dozens of people try to get tickets secondhand last minute so I doubt you'll be missed. You said DFW comm before and not just Dallas like most out-of-staters, so you're probably from Houston. There's always Matsuri for your shit comm, right? Hope that works out instead
>>
>>9911055
That is FakeStar, she is the one who brought Baby. She is a total bitch and rude to anyone who asked for clarification at the fashion show. She "jokingly" said "if anyone has questions, come here so I can punch you".
>>
>>9911112
so glad i'm not the only one who cringed at that! and she swore at the models a lot. it was really weird.
>>
>>9911112
>She is a total bitch

Sounds like bullshit. I've seen her at the fakestar booth at multiple cons and she's always really helpful.
>>
>>9911115
She would give the models vague instructions while pointing, and then get upset that they didn't know where to stand. You would think working in a service industry, she would be more pleasant.
>>
>>9911121
Why would she be rude to people buying her merch? Think about it anon.
>>
>>9911124
I didn't even buy anything at a few. But keep pushing your vendetta anon
>>
>>9911105
Daniela, your shitty convention is no comparison, please stop
>>
Summary: Texas is full of drama.
>>
>>9911131
Nice try! But I fucking hate Matsuri seeing as it's an actual dumpster fire that I'll never have the displeasure to attend.

Thanks for confirming that you have no way to defend yourself and you're just lashing out now. I figured Texas lolitas were cooler or whatever, but turns out the whole state is shit.
>>
>>9911134
This isn't new
>>
>>9911138
The saddest thing is I would've just thought that some people are shitty and maybe next year they would get better after hearing some feedback and working on themselves, instead some anon made the one comm in Texas that I thought was still cool look shitty, coupled with how staff acted during the con and now I don't think I ever want to come back to a Texas con.

However I am a cosplayer and had a good time doing that so maybe I just won't be a part of lolita when I come down again.
>>
Could someone give examples of how the staff was rude? Cause this just seems like vendetta. I was modeling and didn't think anyone was rude. Stressed but that is normal for convention modeling? Especially with the convention center not lettting people in early.
>>
>>9911145
me too. Someone at last year's contest won a Brother, I need a new machine, I want that.
>>
>>9911152
>>9911122
>>9911115
>>
>>9911145
Not to stan Texas, but I would give it one more chance. You have to see if they take the criticism before your write them off completely.
>>9911152
Baby's translator was short tempered with the models and made a ill timed joke about punching people if they asked questions, then got annoyed when people didn't ask and made mistakes in the rehearsal.
Aomeobe, not sure which, walked into the room and announce loudly that none of us should talk to the guests. Which would be completely understandable if it was said in a less rude way.
A lot of it in my opinion was just being short on patience and phrasing it in a way that was borderline aggressive. All you have to say is "Sorry guys, I know you are interested in meeting the guests but you can do so at their official panel. We are on a time crunch" , you know?
No one did anything unforgivable, but it was noticable that they were treating people like cattle to be herded instead of volunteers.
>>
Damn lolitas and their comm. are rough, i love reading the drama lol
>>
>>9910622
This. The girl who got to wear the finale dress was petite, but the rest of the girls in fancy dresses were tall/fat, but at the fitting, they looked like they wouldn’t fit the other dresses.
>>9910545
The AATP coord was underwhelming and pretty poorly coordinated, but it was the same girl who was the finale model so maybe they just like her look.
>>
First things first, the lines on Thursday for registration were awful. I had a fast pass and still waited over 2 hours to get my badge. I heard the convention center's wifi went down but if that was the case they should have just tethered some phones as wifi hotspots to get things going, my phone was just fine. And what was up with them blaring music at registration so once you got up there you couldn't hear what the staff was saying? Anyways if that happens again the best thing you can do as an attendee is just be ready when you get to the front of the line so you can scan your QR, show you ID, get your badge and get out of line. The lines sucked. The volunteers don't need to hear about it from every single person.

I hear a lot of complaints about the food, but this is one of the best conventions for good food, just not at the convention center. Two streets north you have everything from fast food to upscale dining. Use the trolley to go to Sundance Square and you have even more options.

Most of the con staff I interacted with was nice as was the staff at the Sheraton. The convention center staff seemed to be a little hostile towards the con goers though.

All the good events got crammed into Saturday. The schedule from 10am to 6pm was jam packed with stuff to do. Thursday, Friday and Sunday were barren. I get nothing wanting to compete with the gaming tournaments and cosplay contest Saturday night, but they need to spread stuff out a little more to the other days.

Are you just making up shit k8 because you got yelled at for breaking the rules? Pretty sad you have to make up shit because you don’t like getting in trouble. You better kiss her ass and hope BABY comes back. Fucking bitch.
>>
>>9911157
>>9911162
Oh. I meant actual J-fashion staff. That person is always like that. I thought they were just being funny/their sense of humor. They aren't really mutually exclusive with the convention staff tho. FakeStar is just respsonible for bringing guests.
>>
>>9911185
Not k8, but obviously other people heard and saw her being rude af.
>>
>>9911188
Sorry, the second one about yelling about talking to the guests was a Jfashion staff member. Not J but the short red haired one.
Again, it is was just rude phrasing and it was not the only occasion. She was nice at the tea party but I can see why people were confused why they were being sternly lectured if they had not done the thing. Then again maybe more people were breaking the rules than I thought.
I think I saw Kate taking selfies on the fitting day, which was forbidden. It might have been using it as a mirror. They yelled at everyone after that about it though.
>>
Staff at the tea literally got mad because girls were filling/stacking their plates with food. They were making comments about it right next to the buffet area. Sorry, but if we’re paying $50, I think we’re entitled to an adqueate meal.
>>
>>9911194
Spot the fatty
>>
>>9911194
This could have been easily solved by having our plates served to our tables, or having platters at each table.
>>
K8 was unbearable to be around, to the point of embarrassment. I honestly feel so sorry for anyone she’s close to or has to be around her for lengthy periods of time.
>>
>>9910545
Fucking bogan kei
>>
Is anyone going to talk about how ridiculous that stupid game was? They announced it and girls started stampeding and ripping apart centerpieces for some damn Mardi gras beads. The prizes weren’t even worth it.
>>
>>9911183
There's always big events going on from 8-midnight or later. I'm talking move about the 10am-6pm block. Every other day I had ample time to slip out for food. Saturday I was missing events I wanted to attend whenever I went. I personally find the mark of a good con is when you have trouble finding time to eat.
>>
>>9911220
It was really weird to see girls swirl around her still. Like people I know seemed genuinely excited to see her. I was surprised since she seemed like noticably, outwardly rude.
They also swarmed that ScarfingScarfs girl, which was interesting.

>>9911228
The ground shook when they all rushed that table in the back.
>>
Anyone got pictures? I missed out this year. Especially from the lolita and j-fashion events.
>>
>>9911244
Seconding this, I want to see some cosplay though.
>>
>>9911194
Not when half the guest didn’t get macarons because all the efame turds took more than one. You can go back for more. It was so damn rude!
>>
>>9911256
This is what happens when you make it buffet style. I still don't know why the change happened. It was perfect the last two years
>>
>>9904342
Gimp guy, if you're still here, I want to know why you were 30 minutes late
>>
>>9910996
What kind of service would make you happy?
>>
>>9911180
I was the exact opposite. Friday I had almost back-to-back panels I wanted to go to, but on Saturday and Sunday I only went to one panel each day. If I cosplayed, I think all the meetups on Saturday might have been something I would have enjoyed
>>
>>9911265
I think it was policy of the convention center. After a certain number of guests the catering will make it buffet style regardless. I hope staff can negotiate the table style again next year.
>>
>>9911317
Maybe not yelling at us to not touch the shitty decorations? Something like "Please don't take the centerpieces, thank you!" would've been better. And also coming around to introduce themselves to the tables or at least say hi to the attendees that they're hosting. I saw them say hi to some people and readily avoid others. Like you don't have to be my friend but at least asking your attendees if they're having a good time is a good idea. I literally saw the guests try to be more social than they did. I'm not asking them to wait on my hand and foot, I'm just confused why they didn't do the same pleasantries they always have.

I can't speak for the fashion show since I wasn't back there.

>>9911324
I hope it's something like that and not the staff deciding buffet style would be better. I'm definitely put off from going next year but I'll keep an eye out and hope that the quality of the tea goes back to what it was in previous years
>>
>>9911333
I doubt the staff had much say in what was served or how it was served. I legit looked up the catering company and the menu. It seems that Trinity Catering based out of the Omni has a pretty set menu.

I know that there is a lot of bullshit going on tonight on here because people are butthurt and salty as fuck, but as a whole I stand by my comm. They are generally pretty accepting and understanding of people and drama gets shut down really fucking quick.

Seriously, if you hate Akon and it's events so much, then stay home or take a *real* vacation somewhere.
>>
>>9911353
I'm really surprised to see /cgl/ shitting on A-Kon like this.

>2016
>go to A-Kon, didn't like it
>/cgl/ loved it

>2018
>go to A-Kon expecting complete shit, end up having a really good time
>/cgl/ hated it
>>
>>9911353
I'm surprised by the level of salt too. Why are people this mad? I had fun at the tea party and fashion show.
>>
>>9911353
Because A-Kon is a convention where people travel to. It's not just for your con. If you want a hugbox with your comm, do comm Teas. If you can't handle criticism from others then you start sounding mighty Matsuri-ish.

And look. I know some girls in your comm who are wonderful quality people. But when you've got multiple people complaining, then people need to own up and change instead of just ignoring it. Can't handle listening to other attendees who aren't gonna say nice things? Don't do conventions. Especially ones as large as this one.

And ESPECIALLY when you've set the bar so high and been consistent for two years. It's not to say there weren't problems those years either, but at least those years people weren't white knighting and sounding like Daniela's "if you're mean, you don't need to be here" bullshit. If shit happens, people are gonna talk. You can't take the spotlight and only expect to hear good things. Glad y'all enjoyed it, but these events aren't just for you.
>>
>>9911238

Um, lolitas aren't expected to be lovelies to anyone, least of all people who are excited about the fashion. Didn't you learn anything from the last fiasco?

You go, k8! I love your pink frothy style! Don't let those salty cunts get to u! xoxoxo
>>

>snatch game panel

I came in with no expectations, yet I was still disappointed. What sucked was that none of the contestants were IN CHARACTER (which is the whole point), the thing that makes actual snatch game good is that it’s S C R I P T E D. The panelists should have thought this out more, and gotten more panelists to act instead of relying on audience volunteers. It was just shitty memes and vine references. I’m REEing so hard at this just because I’m a fag for drag race.

But at least they weren’t late to their own panel.

The idea is very good in theory though, this was just poorly executed.
>>
>>9911372
Took the words right out of my mouth. Matsuri mentality has always been "if you don't like it, don't go, we don't want your opinions". It shuts out any room for improvement and turns it into an inner circle problem where nobody listens to the opposition. Indtead of just attacking people who didn't have a good time, the staff (and friends/whiteknights) should listen to it and try to improve for next year and the years to come if they want to keep having attendees. Attacking everyone who disagrees is literally AM's MO. We don't need a-kon to stoop to the same level. None of us care about the main drama that led to change, we care about the events in comparison to the past years. A-kon set a high bar for lolita events, and this year it did not surpass it. Staff, learn from your mistakes. Listen to the complaints. Don't start fights to defend yourselves or you're no better than AM.

I'm just disappointed since A-Kon's lolita events are fun and wonderful usually. You start to look bad when you become so defensive on /cgl/ of all fucking places. It's better to just let people bitch. People move and and forget small complaints but people remember when staff members/friends/whiteknights come in talking out of their asses, blaming everyone and everything but themselves.

The Lolita staff lost a bunch of good people and replaced them with Houston comm people.

When my friends from out of state who don't even care about jfashion know how shitty and nuts the Houston comm people are then you know you have a major problem.

What I have come to understand is the local comm members don't want to work with the Akon Lolita staff anymore because the staff head caused drama and chased a lot of good people off.

Personally I have always thought it hilarious that these women are grown adults and act like children over dresses and the fight for efame.

Literally don't care about ex staff members. If they're the reason why the events were good last year, then that sucks for the current staff. But at least some of the current staff has been there since the beginning so they, in theory, know how to run a good show.

But well, I'm not the one who ran a tea party where people literally left in the middle of it.
>>
The only reason these efame sluts are so focused on wanting to be the absolute best dressed is because they’re all so goddamn ugly outside of the fashion. No doubt it’s probably the reason half of them are even in this at all, they can’t act like entitled, catty cunts around normies without being laughed at.

Quit taking your volunteer “modeling” and dying weeb fashion so seriously, bunch of balding mentals.

... what did the drunk girl look like? Part of me gets the feeling that it was... well, me.

Also, Saturday night was very lit. The vibes were good and the people were so friendly. Made so many friends that night and really covered for the awful taste that Thursday and Friday left in my mouth.

>>
>>9911152
I noticed r**** being quite rude this time around too. I've modeled before and I've never seen her act this way. She was cursing at models and had a mean tone the entire time. During the show she told a group "why are you standing here? You need to move the hell out the way!" They just looked at each other like "but we were told to stand here?" All of the other j-fashion staff were really kind and helpful though, to my knowledge. If r**** was so stressed, there were plenty of people willing to help with whatever was needed so the attitude was unacceptable desu. It was very off-putting and it created a negative environment for people who were there to have fun and put on a good show. The models were not paid or compensated in any way so why treat them with such disrespect? It makes r***** company look bad.

I noticed some people in that tea party room who I saw posting about not getting tickets... Pretty sure there were people that snuck in, especially with the lazy doorman. The extra people who didnt pay probably were the reason they ran out of glassware and macarons.
>>
This was my first tea party at A-Kon and I had a good time! There were issues, sure, but overall it was fun. I wish there had been more room because getting around tables in all that poof was a challenge. I thought the food was fine, I do wish it hadn’t gone so fast and hadn’t been a buffet. I do have to agree the translator seemed very short and snippy with people, which was off putting. I thought everyone else was lovely.

The rest of con was a good time, but I missed the line fiasco bit. I did experience issues with the guidebook/schedule being totally wrong and that was annoying. Otherwise, good shopping and a fun time cosplaying.

>>
>>9911348
Having organized con teas before at other cons out of state, yes, they typically do have say over wether it's plated or buffet. The food choices? Not so much.
>>
>>9911420
What Houston people were even working that con? I'm in the Houston comm and only saw attendees from my city, not a single staff member.

Please y'all, stop throwing us under the bus. We aren't even really active anymore.
>>
>>9911594
Confirmed, I saw a girl sneak in others into the place.

>>9911420
You're exaggerating, there was only one girl from Houston who was staff as far as I know and she was very sweet.

The food for the tea party left a lot to be desired but my main issue was the fact it was so disorganized. There was no real schedule structured and the bead game (which was dumb and childish af) made getting food confusing. The staff let the room get chaotic and allowed people to take advantage by taking as much food as possible or going back for more before other tables were allowed to go. The bead game also ruined the raffle since they didn't plan correctly for how many people would have gotten more than 2. My friends and I were really disappointed since we thought we would have a better shot at the raffle and didn't want to make a fool of ourselves over cheap beads. They also messed up the best dressed coordination contest by not giving time for any of the guest judges to talk to each other since half of them were going to pick the same girl. Even the guests were lost on what to do after the staff left them standing at the front of the stage.

I heard so much praise for the previous tea parties but traveling and spending money on this sad event made me regret buying a ticket. I could forgive the food and decor since they moved out of the hilton and into the con center, but they should have known better on how to organize a tea party.
>>
>>9911105
The Dallas girls don't call it the DFW comm even to other Texas lolitas, so I don't think that anon is from Dallas either (at least I'd hope not). They probably have a friend on staff or something.

Look, saltanon, no convention staff anywhere is entitled to good feedback on their events solely based on previous years. If you set the bar high for your events and miss your mark, that's what matters, and it sounds like that's what happened. Losing your temper over critical feedback on /cgl/ of all places is the exact wrong way to conduct yourself. Most embarrassing behavior indeed.

>>9911353
>"if you hate us so much don't come here!"
No. If you guys want people to continue attending your convention for lolita events then you need to stop being so defensive and listen to what your attendees have to say. If you and your comm don't want to deal with the increased level of pressure and expectations that come hand in hand with increased exposure, then don't host panels and events at a major convention. Stick to having small group of friends over for fancy tea parties if that's how you feel.
>>
>>9911768
Who the fuck thinks its ok to sneak into a ticketed event like this? Name and shame.
>>
>>9911768
I saw 3 from here around the events/vendors, 1 is on cgl all the time and 1 I think is a new lolita and 1 who was at the Fakestar table (so I don't think she's lolita staff?)
>>
>>9911799

>>
>>9911802
I saw two walking around at the tea party, 1 was a black girl in a bittersweet print, and then the cgl lurker is very short and hispanic and she was wearing pink and red. The one at the booth is a bigger girl who was in bright colors all weekend.

>>
>>9911761
I have worked these too. And you are pretty much at the mercy of the convention center cooks. Most of the time you are not even allowed a tasting to see if the food is edible. Something that is unfortunately out of the hands of anyone who hosts a party like this.
>>
>>9911025
>>9911026
>>9911055
She's not A-kon staff, she was with the company bringing the Japanese guests.
>>
>>9911353
Tbh I have no idea where all this cgl salt is coming from. All two dozen friends of mine who went only had positive things to say. I personally had a great time and was overall treated well by staff. Certainly didn't see them being rude or yelling, though they were highly stressed out.

I do agree that the tea provided was shit though. Like, seriously? Tazo boxes? come on. But I suspect the convention center requires them to use that catering service. I personally ate six sandwhiches, but I also hadn't had breakfast and had to skip dinner the day before so I may have been biased by hunger.

I thought the game was fun but some people got wayyy too into it and were tearing apart the decorations

Scarving Scarves was fantastic to meet, though I felt a little bad for her getting constantly swarmed. I think bad ouji even was trying to talk to her.

Fashion show was fine, wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad. I thought it was funny that everyone was too scared/intimidated to clap during I Do Declare's section. R was more shrill than normal, but she was also managing three dozen looks, so I'm cutting her some slack. I'm glad they actually fed us backstage for once, those pastries were delicious.

You're the reason why I didn't get any food at the tea party or the fashion show.
>>
I just don't get why the tea party wasn't hosted at one of the hotel restaurants instead. The Omni has a few options, as does the Hilton.
>>
>>9911895
I think it was because the hotels did not have a large enough space to hold everyone.

>>
>>9911902

They really fucked up with the buffet style this year though.
>>

>>
>>9911880

>>
>>9911904
To my knowledge even the staff didn't know it would be buffet style. I heard there were a lot of things out of their control this year.
>>
>>9911899
Well that's silly. Isn't that the whole point of having it be a ticketed event? So you can have a good idea of how many people will be there ahead of time.
>>
>>9911937
Last year the event was at the Hilton which isn't part of the con anymore. Each hotel is themed for panels and events and most of the Lolita programming was at the convention center so they had the tea party there.
>>
>>9911887
They had leftover pastries when the room emptied for the fashion show, that's when I ate. Shoulda kept an eye out for them restocking. I also did not take 6 sandwhiches at once, I waited and took two at a time like a reasonable person.
I only had one macaron,

I was surprised they took away the food so quickly, though that's on the convention catering again.
>>
Food was taken really quickly at the tea party and also restocked slowly. My table was one of the last to go and by the time I had gotten up to actually get food, there wasn't much left. So, I pretty much went through most of the tea party rather hungry. It wasn't until after I sat back down that more food was put out so the "please do not go get seconds" rule was really disappointing to me.
>>
>>9911069
Food trucks don’t want to go to Fort Worth and convention centers don’t want to invite them. Concessions is part of their contract.
>>
The level of salt over macaroon distribution in this thread is amazing.
>>
I love seeing the Lolita drama because I have some Lolita on my fb that like to talk shit about how toxic the cosplay community is and then I come here and see someone go "I didn't like this one thing" and the response to that was "well you're a bitch". Y'all aren't any better than us lol
>>
>>9912098
They were the only good food. The sandwiches were dry meat on crusty white bread, and the scones tasted like shit.
>>
>>9911933
Not knowing that it was gonna be a buffet style isn't "out of their control". Being told that it would be, is. If they didn't communicate with catering, that's all on them. Please stop trying to defend the staff because you're making it worse. I hate that it was buffet but can understand that it wasn't the staff's fault.... I sincerely didn't have a bad opinion of the staff, but with whiteknights like these.

I think all the people complaining about R being rude during rehearsal have never done any performing. I used to do some performance-heavy activities (think dance, but not exactly) and we would get yelled at if we didn't follow directions. It's not about rudeness, it's just the fastest way to make your point in the short amount of time before the show. >>9913084
Agreed. Professional career models deal with much worse but they either get over it or give up being in that industry. Designers and agencies do give a shit about bratty girls feeling entitled from their follower count, you’re always going to be replaceable so either swallow your pride and follow exact direction or get out. Anyone whining about creative directors or stage staff putting them in check doesn’t belong and should stick with indie designers.

Did they aren't professional models. They are volunteers wearing fancy clothes. They don't do this outside of a con. And those that claim they do are lying through their teeth to try and get attention. I did not see anyone with a legit model body on that stage.

You wouldn't have a damn show for your over priced shit clothes if it weren't for the volunteer models. Get over yourself and stop treating people so badly who are doing you a favor.
>>
>>9913380
Are you fucking retarded or???
Obviously they’re volunteer models, it’s not exactly rocket science to figure that out. But volunteer or not they will be held to the same standards as career models just on a lesser scale. You will be held accountable for your level of professionalism volunteer or not, it’s that simple.

And I’m not sure why you’re coming at me for treating anyone badly, I’m not R and it’s pretty stupid to blindly make that assumption based on just having knowledge of how this kind of shit goes down. Analyze a little better next time.

On a side note, did anyone have any unlucky experiences with con creeps?

This sounds like the kind of shit R says. You aren't putting on real fashion shows for top brands, you're pulling together volunteer shows with minimal attendance at anime conventions for niche brands at best, but also for crappy no-name brands. The idea that she acts this way because it's "industry practice" or whatever is hilarious. She needs an ego check. Everyone is there to have fun, except R, who is there to exert her authority. It's embarrassing.

Don’t flatter yourselves. Dallas is neither as good or as dramatic as Houston.
>>
I modeled in the fashion show and went to the tea party.
It was fine. People are acting like the minor complaints people are making means they are super mad or never going to go again.
I think most people are just pointing it out as concrit.
Staff could have been more friendly, food could have been better, etc etc.
Let's do better next year. If you don't feel comfortable spending the money on it again, just wait till you hear better things. People assume we all got our knickers in knots when we are just pointing out what could be improved. If you want a hug box go to Facebook.
>>
>>9913885
Omfg so much this. That people are saying the “drama” in this thread is comparable to Houston is nuts. Some minor complaints were called out and these people want to front like they’re being attacked. You girls too desperate for attention because you know you’re not really relevant otherwise...
>>
Fashion show coords are up on Baby's Instagram page. Some photos are shit quality though.

Imagine being this stupid.

Maybe I could shed some light on what happened behind the scenes Saturday morning. So the morning of the convention. The convention center was suppose to let two groups in. One at 7pm and one at 8pm. If you weren't early enough or dragged behind you missed the first escorted group. Of course the convention center security did not show up on time to let us in.

When we arrived at the fashion show room we had to hurry to set up because the staff did not expect to be locked out for so long. This is really stressful when you have 45+ models to get make up, hair and dressed and rehearsed before the 11:30 show. Not to mention we had no idea when the stragglers would be let in.

When we arrived to the stage had not been built by the con. And they left allot of equipment on the stage we were not allowed to remove. The people who could build the stage were no where to be found. The sounds guys were no where to be found, and the models had to get in some practice time. So the staff did what we could under the pressure we had. I apologize if we seemed short with the models who volunteered. But this is what was going on.

It's easy to point fingers at one person and say they are soul responsible for your bad time. But there were allot of factors that went into things going wrong that morning. It could of gone allot worse. I will not deny there are improvements that need to be made by the staff and the convention center involved. However know you no what happened behind the scenes.

Why do we care what you have to say if you can't even spell correctly?
I understand that the morning situation was not ideal, but as a staff member, the stage situation and staffing, those are things you should have dealt with way in advance in order to ensure things work.
>>
>>9914596
I'm not a stranger to these events so I understand the stress that occurs when things don't go as planned. But with maybe one or two exceptions, none of the comments I've read here seem scathing or personal. Most are from attendees telling you what they did and didn't like and what they think could use some work. It's feedback. It's business. People who pay a lot of money to attend events don't tend to care about backstage hiccups, and they don't care how emotionally invested you are as an organizer, either, as frustrating as that is. You're always going to have something that could use improvement or people who want to grouse without contributing anything helpful. The best thing you can do for yourselves is to take the feedback you've received into account for next year's planning instead of letting yourselves get baited by 4chan.
>>
>>9914714
Nayrt, but it's kind of hard to handle stage issues in advance when you don't know they're going to happen. In years' past the stage wasn't a problem, so how were they supposed to know there would be an issue this time?

>>9914723
Why should feedback on here be taken seriously when the people complaining can't even be mature enough to post their concerns publically instead of anonymously? After this thread expires staff will quickly forget about the feedback and do what they planned for next year regardless of what's been said here. If the attendees want change they should say something on a site that isn't a board just to gossip.
>>
>>9914737
Not the one you replied to, but I think this is more of a problem with the lolita community in that way. We have kind of a community where if you speak negatively people tend to think you're bitchy. Even if the criticism is mild. It's kind of weird but the Lolita Community by trying to be so nice and welcoming on the surface tends to push out a lot of weirdly volatile stuff on gossip boards and stuff.
It's like we can't talk like normal people.
Honestly it's probably because we're a big bunch of nerds and don't know how to express things up front.

>the fetish panel being back
Was it not there in 2017?
>>
>>9914572
Imaging thinking your anime convention fashion show is relevant.
>>
>>9914714
Even when you tell the con staff the night before, people don’t do their jobs, and it unfortunately creates a domino effect. Happened to me plenty of times when I used to work as a con volunteer.
>>
>>9914596
The problem here isn't that some stuff went wrong. People understand that. The problem is that attendees gave feedback and staff/friends of staff felt the need to get overly defensive and call the people with some minor complaints names. You don't have to defend yourself on cgl. No one cares. And yet here you are. Just take the feedback and work on making the next event better instead of making yourselves look bad.

>a-kon thread
>discussing event at a-kon
>irrelevant

sorry you had a rough day time for night night crabby baby
>>
>>9915264
You sound like a broken record. At the end of the day nobody's going to give a shit and people are still going to attend the events, so does it really matter?
>>
>>9915568
If I have to read the same shit, then I'll keep repeating myself. I want this to big good and not end up like San Japan, which was a fun event that slowly stopped having support. If this one dies the same way just because staff can't take concrit, then it'll be disappointing.
>>
Well besides the Lolita fiasco and line issues, did anyone do anything interesting or fun? Panels?

Who won at Cosplay?
>>
>>9915270
Oh sweetie, your critical reasoning skills are clearly pretty low so I'll rephrase. The A-kon fashion show is almost entirely irrelevant in any context beyond A-kon istelf. All anon was saying was that to compare it to serious fashion business as a way to excuse trashy, rude behavior as being the "industry" is funny and sad. Enjoy your circlejerk honey!
>>
>>9915622
SJ stopped getting support because it wasn’t getting any money out of fashion events so SJ cut their budget on the fashion department.

I went to both of the concerts on Friday, Garnidelia started late but I managed to find a seat in the center which made it even better. I think the audience loved BRADIO the most though, they were very interactive with the crowd and showed us dance moves to go with their songs. My friend said the sound was not that great, but it didn't seem that bad to me as a casual. I would come to A-kon again just for the concerts, I'm happy that they're seated (no other con seems to offer this without ticketed & paid option) and they got an arena stage. Also was in standby line on Saturday for autographs, I think everyone in standby line got a signature.
>>
>>9916002
That is interesting, cause I was crushed by the arena seating. I had been looking forward to dancing to Bradio since they announced.
They had both last year, though if you were sitting it was farther back.
>>
I'm pretty determined to go to A-kon next year. Is it going to be at the same Ft. Worth venue it was this year? How much should I expect to pay for a hotel room per night if I wanna stay where the con is happening?
>>
Anyone go to the snatch game panel? I know the two fat e-sluts that ran it and wanted to know if it was as big of a disaster as I expected from two underage girls who only post about drinking 24/7
>>
>>9916287

Pretty sure this is just another boring vendetta post. I don't care personally, but it's not really interesting drama.
>>
>>9916210
Yes, and about $175-$300/night if you stay on site or at a downtown hotel.
>>
>>9915709
That's not what I heard. I heard the San Antonio community had some beef with the convention and stopped helping them get guests and run events.
>>
>>9916761
A year or two ago SJ con owner commented on one of my friend’s post on the SJ Facebook group. She was asking if there was going to be fashion events at SJ and he basically said that lolita events made no money for the con and wasn’t really worth putting any effort into it. Sorry I don’t feel like going back and capping it on FB but mines not hearsay.
>>
>>9916824
That's unfortunate to hear
>>
>>9916824
>>9916891

That's just how Dave is. He is very concerned about profit. SJ is a business and what he lives off of. So if it doesn't make him money he won't do it. Same reason he skimps on guests from outside the U.S.

It's not wrong to do this as a business is a business, but I can see why people would personally be unhappy.
>>
>>9915635
Oh wow, this is real sad. Try harder, please.
>>
>>9911419
the parties at the water gardens were pretty fun. I feel bad for the drunk girl that fell flat on her face friday night though. hope she's alright.
>>
>>9917803
did she just fall normally or did she fall from off the mountain or something
>>
>>9910557
She seems like a self entitled brat after she cut into several conversations where the brand designers were talking to customers. I literally saw her cut in-between a girl that was asking about an item to have a full 5 minute conversation with the designer as the customer waited for a few then walked off. I feel bad that she lost a customer because of this bitch
>>
>>9911185
spill the fucking tea
>>
>>9911238
The girl who does Scarfingscarfs was actually genuinely kind and nice from the interactions i saw with some of the fans that came up to her. Her YT persona aside she's a pretty sweet girl
>>
>>9911619
She needs to realize that its easy to get replaced. Clean up and get your shit together R.
>>
>>9918833
Haha. You realize that she's responsible for getting all of them to A-Kon right? If you cut her out then all of the j-fashion guests will go POOF. From there all you'd have in Texas is AM.

I'd like to see all you prissy cunts get the brands to A-Kon on your own.
>>
>>9919004
Oni con and Delta h have j fashion guests/ programing. Pretty sure they don't work with R so....

Its not nice to insult your customer base R. But then again, you don't seem to have much business sense.
>>
>>9919079

That seems quite unprofessional. But unless someone can replace her nothing will change. That's how life works.
>>
>>9919137
She's been in this business since before 2010 right? I remember seeing her at a con way back then. I doubt it'll change unless she majorly fucks up.
>>
>>9919079
Haha ya think this is R? No. It's someone who thinks a lot of you are uptight impatient overly demanding snowflake cunts.
>>
>>9919058
No big Japanese brands though, just indies
>>
>>9918800
She absolutely is an entitled brat. Her attitude towards other girls during the tea was atrocious and would only bother with small talk to the ones that were in the fashion show or within her very small circle of asskissers. I wish she would learn to be more gracious and carry herself better.
>>
>>9918812
Agreed. She was so sweet and enjoyed taking the time to talk to her fans.

Anyone else get a look at the ita wearing primavera waltz?

YES. HIM. He was the fucking worst, he had the bouncer make him sit down, right?

For money and fame, the same reason anyone works

I felt bad about her wig, but her doll was really cute and she seemed very sweet.
