>>21706823you want people to shove things up your butt?
>>21706803Eggs are toxic and shouldn't be consumed. A few dozen can be a lethal dose. Eggslop gets shilled so hard by Big Egg, don't fall for the psyop.
>>21706803To boil eggs, put a splash of white vinegar in the water and put the eggs in the water while it's cold. Bring it to a boil, then take it off the heat and put a lid on the pot. Let sit for 12 minutes. Boom perfect hardboiled eggs with golden yolks. You can also just steam them.
>>21706851what does the vinegar do? Dissolve the shell sso you dont have to peel them?
>>21706853It makes them easier to peel
>>21706853Old wive's taleCooking from cold is also one of the causes for shells stickingSteam them and quench them in ice water, heating them quickly and cooling them quickly is the only more likely way to ensure they peel, but it really just depends on the eggs and is kind of randomt.like 15 years ago I found a blog where a college professor made students boil a million eggs, not a figurative million eggs, a literal million eggs, in a bunch of different ways, and the only thing that tracked was fast hot and fast cold, but shit still went sideways some of the times
>>21706851>and put the eggs in the water while it's coldThis is what makes the shell stick to the white. Boiling the water first causes it to separate and peel more easily. Starting eggs in cold water made 80% of the eggs hard to peel, boiling the water first like 1/10 might be slightly difficult to peel. Boiling the water first also is more consistent since different amounts of eggs and water will heat up at different speeds.
>>21706862>>21706863It works every time for me, but as I said I also remove them from the head and lid them as soon as it boils. I learned it from a chef who told me his grandma taught it to him. Make of it what you will.
I just boil them and chuck them against the wall. Easy pealing.

if you hate doing the boiling method, this thing will do foolproof eggs for you every single time. Just crack them when they come out and run under cold water so the water gets under the shell and they will be easy to peel. You also don't have to be around watching for the pot to boil and then removing them. You just measure the water with the included cup and eggs come out exactly how you want them each time.

>>21707080Sounds right. So it has no use as that anon attempted. I figured out what he meant, but it's not going to catch on with people.
>>21706803Pro tip is to crack the shell and pinch a part of the membrane off before peeling under cold running water
>>21707084I'm TrackedAnonIt's a really old expression, I'm not trying to make a thing happen, it just happens to be a thing you didn't know about earlier
>>21707123Can't find any definition evidence. So it's not officially an "expression" yet. Keep at it though. I don't see it gaining any traction (no pun intended), but you never know. Dumber shit has caught on historically. Good luck to you. In the meantime I'll continue to use phrases everyone understands such as "that checks out". Maybe try that one.
>>21707142"That tracks" being an idiom/synonym for "that makes sense" has been in the OED for at least 100 years and predates it by a lotSomething that tracks is anything that leaves tracks, in this case, boiling eggs with a large amount of thermal energy, such as steaming, and then cooling them, like with an ice bathEverything else didn't trackOld eggsFresh eggsCold eggsRoom temp eggsWashed eggsUnwashed eggsVinegar in the waterSalt in the water (actually this one tracked, but in a bad way, not related to peeling, but to how the yolk settles in the whites because you're messing with buoyancy)What else...tap water versus distilled or filtered water? None of it made a statistical differenceFast hot then fast cold equals a more peelable eggIf you're gonna pick on a word, there you have it>peelableIt even looks funny
the REAL trick is to use older eggs, like a week after the sell by date. then they come out of the shell really easily
>>21706803you boil 6 at the start of the week and you eat them for lunch on the jobsite.
>>21707171You some kinda drywall guy or something?
>>21707164Seems like you're making that leap on your own. OED doesn't, for instance, use it in a sentence as you're attempting. There's no "leaving tracks" association with eggs. I understand that you and perhaps even a couple of others have embraced this "ancient" usage, but it doesn't seem to be officially registered quite that way. They add new wild shit all the time though. Plenty of silly social media type nonsense is being officially entered into the lexicon all the time. They announce all the weird ones annually on NPR. I'll keep an ear out for "tracks" being used in this new capacity.

>>21706803>fills cold water and eggs into the pot and waits till it cooks like a retard
start from a boil, 7 minutes and put under cold water for a minute, easy peals every time
The only thing that works for peeling eggs is cooling them properly. Either put them aside and don't touch them for hours or put them in an ice bath. This is the only thing that works. This vinegar shit, ''shake the egg,'' ''crack the shell during cooking,'' steaming the egg etc, none of this shit works at all and if it did work it's not because of your stupid spoon trick. The egg white has to chill so it gets hard enough that the friction from separating the membrane doesn't tear the egg white. That's all that matters.
>>21708010Starting with water at a raging boil (salt your egg water to get it hotter), followed by transferring to an ice bath is what does it.The thermal shock gelatinizes the proteins at the shell-membrane barrier, reducing the clinginess.Putting the eggs in the ice bath or freezer before you start enhances this effect.
heat water to rolling boil.add all eggs.start timer for 6 minutes 30 seconds.remove eggs when timer expires.place eggs into bowl, place in sink beneath tap.run cold water into bowl for ten minutes.remove water.crack each egg at the blunt (BLUNT) end: this is the air pocket.peel from the blunt end to the pointy end, the length of the egg.shuck the egg out like you're opening a clamshell.
Instant Pot works for me. Five minutes under pressure, five minute release, five minutes in cold water. Very easy to peel.
>>21706991>clearsLike a high jumper clears the bar, or a SWAT team clears a room? That tracks. I'm sold.
>>21708022>The thermal shock reduces the clinginessI should absolutely take my girlfriend to a sauna.
roll the egg under the palm of your hand while applying light pressure to crack it all over, the inner membrane won't stick to the egg whites anymore.Much easier to peel this way
Perfect peeling eggs:Boil water first rolling boilAdd a little vinegar (effects structure of shell)Gently add eggs individually ( the surface inside cooks hard faster )While they boil fill your sink with cold water and ice ( the sudden temp change causes the egg to contract away from the shell) quickly peel before all ice melts
>>21708976>Add a little vinegar (effects structure of shell)does so appreciably little that you're just wasting vinegar. it's the same blunder as adding oil to the pasta water.>racing against ice melting in a sinkfirst off, use a fuckin bowl. second, ice does not melt that fast, just wait 5 minutes then peel. third, even if your ice does malt obsurdly fast, it still doesn't matter, what important is that the eggs got a shock of cold and cooled enough to stop cooking.
>>21706803imagine being too stupid to peel an egg

>best tier: crack, toss in ice water>lateral tier: spoonMost importantly, you have to realize that some eggs are just impossible to peel properly.
>>21709262Protip: I work in a restaurant and microwaving boiled eggs will help to loosen them.5 minutes at maximum power.
Let your eggs sit at room temperature for a while before boiling them. The civilized practice of storing them in the refrigerator is causing problems.
