That's not how the capitalist system that made him rich even works. The people who voted him into power rely on the 99 cent 1 lb boxes of pasta the free trade agreements allow for. Apple shareholders will make less money if we make iphones here, so he's not going after them. But why the fuck should he care if some pasta companies go under? Along this rationale he should stop the flow of oil so we can produce more coal here and exploit the few remaining federally protected state parks for drilling. But that will take time to get going and if he pisses off the Humvee and F-150 crowd it won't be good for business. These are selective tariffs and they're all fucking stupid.

>>21712347You don't get it. The majority of pasta that is being sold in the US currently is produced in the US already. This includes all of Barilla sold aside from the bronze cut import. They have 2 factories here. There is basically no reason to buy imported pasta in the US. This is one of the things you should apply tariffs to and other counties apply similar tariffs for similar reasons all the time and have for decades. The whole point is so you don't have cheap imports competing with domestic product. Canada heavily tariffs US dairy for similar reasons.
