What was your favorite dining experience? Where was it? What made it great? Were you solo or in a group?
As a kid I never really enjoyed the restaurant experience as other people. So as an adult I rarely go. I think now my best experiences are getting ideas for new things to make at home.
>>21712202stop pretending that you’re better than me
>>21712205Don't worry anon it worked out cause I don't really have any friends to go with. So maybe that will make you feel better :)Zuppa toscana soup I learned to make after liking it at Olive Garden is the example I was thinking.
>>21712196The GOAT is 80s/90s Pizza Hut. Dark, moody lighting with the emphasis on the beautiful pizza hut glass chandelier, seats that you sunk down into. A salad bar that the kids would always load up on jello and whipped "salad" before dinner came. Then the pizza....something about Pizza Hut back then before it shit itself.
>>21712212Remmeber the book club thing? You would get a free personal pan pie
>>21712213There was a school thing where if you read so many books your class would get pizza. Think I only did it once that I remember. At the time as a kid I thought it stupid because why read all these books when you can just buy pizza. And I said that as coming from a poor family where pizza hut was rare.
>>21712196i'm legit too confused and retarded to understand how to use these kiosk things. there's a person at a counter but also this machine what the FUCK do i do. i haven't had fast food in years because i'm too scared to use the machine
>>21712213>>21712237You're talking about Book-It! You got a little laminated pin, and then for every book you read you got a little star sticker to place on it! Loved getting my free personal pan pizza. Apparently Book it is still around today and they have their own app!>>21712237I didn't have my own money as a kid so reading school books for credit meant a free pizza. Look at these fucking pins. I think I actually remember some of them.
>>21712245I think they all are basically the same. Here is a Sheetz gas station one:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CigoO6BRz_k>>21712248What good is one pizza or two a school year? I got more pizza waiting for richer kids birthdays.
>>21712252You got a new pin every time you finish a book. I figured out I could lie about how many stupid ass "Chapter" books I read and get more free pizza. I went to a private school so I guess they always had extra pins. I learned to love reading in 3rd grade with wizard of oz tho
>>21712245u imbecile
>>21712257chill daddy they might be 100 years old and grew up during the depression and can't figure new fangled tech
>>21712212Sad that I never got to experience that as a 90s kid. My mother is English and says their sauce is too spicy.
>kobe steakhouse>our company won "best at __________" for the 6th year in a row>management paid for everything>had free drink tickets (still have a couple in my wallet)>everybody ordered the $70 special and got drunk>except my direct supervisor who drove me home>fired a month laterworth it
>>21712202Opposite for me. Hated restaurants when I was young but started enjoying them a lot once I started getting gfs
>>21712196>What was your favorite dining experience?first time i cooked for my wife.i made a chicken alfredo pizza from scratch. >Where was it?at our apartment.>What made it great?she still rants to others about it to this day.it was 14 years ago.>Were you solo or in a group?just me and her.
>>21712532Chicken alfredo is the only good pizza I'd probably still be talking about it too
>>21712532Nobody asked
>>21712630op literally asked, anon.literally.
>>21712196oceanaire, minny, exgfyes, i miss her.alyssa, call me.
>>21712196I've never went to a restaurant other than fast food
>>21712196I can't pinpoint it but I'm sure there weren't any black people there.
Velrosier in Kyoto, JapanI think nowadays it's a Michelin one star restaurant, but when I went it had two stars. It was the first and only time I had ever had food presented as an actual tasting menu. There were 14 courses in total, each of them amazing. All expertly prepared and unique. And the flavors were something I had never tasted before or since. If you ever have a chance to check out a Michelin restaurant, I recommend it. Def worth the hype.
>>21712196was in amsterdam in some tiny restaurant that was apparently a tiny branch of the big, more luxurious one next doorhad green thai curry rubbing shoulders (literally) with complete strangers as it was packed as hell and they had about three large tables for everyonewas incredibly tasty
>>21712196Independent fast food joints for meJust ate at pic related tonight and it was sooooo good.
>>21712196Back in the day when I lived in Japan, my friends and I would go to this awesome fried rice restaurant that served the best gyoza I've ever had. One of those typical tiny Japanese dives hidden down a random alley, but the food was fantastic and the portions were massive. Owner was also a bro and used to pour a free beer or sake pretty often for regulars as a service. Never had a bad time there. Was sad to learn he died a few years ago and his family sold the business. Still get cravings for that fried rice, but nothing in America I've had comes remotely close.
>>21713612I'll take you to my favorite pancake house if you're local, anon. It would be fun.
>>21712196greasy spoon hole in the wall (literally just a window, takeout only) in my hometownthey had the best burgers ive ever eatenthey also had incredible fried chicken and liver (and im usually not a fan of liver)no seating, but there was a park with a nice pond nearby i'd walk to enjoy my foodsadly the owner decided to retire and sold the land a few years ago, now its a mcd'stalk about a downgrade
>>21712196My parents were dirt poor growing up, once a year we would put on our best shit and go to the Hungry Horse, a British gastropub that was popular in the 90s/00s. We would each get a two course meal and then my parents would get us all the biggest sharing dessert they had on the menu, several scoops of ice cream in a giant glass goblet with all sorts of sweets and chocolates and syrups on top, it was so decadent we could never finish it.My mum is sick rn and all I can think about is when we were all young and healthy and happy. Cherish your loved ones folks.
>>21712196Woods on Mackinaw Island. By myself on a road trip. Had a great day exploring the island. They seated me next to the fireplace. Put my own menu together rather than their tasting list so full portions for about the same price. Food was great and the place was dead without it being weird. After, I watched the sunset and later the northern lights. Slept in the first actual bed in days. Best day of the trip (although by far the most expensive)>bone marrow with pickled mustard seeds>root salad>lamb>pumpkin cheesecake>brandy old fashions throughoutSince then the pickled mustard seeds have become a staple condiment. Very easy to make, stores forever, and guests are impressed by the novelty
>>21712196an arnenian restaurant i loved, must have tasted the entire menu fucking delicious. They had a cammel hanging from the roof and wierd music and the waiter would sneak free appetizers to our table
>>21712196when random dog showed up while I was campinghad to give him meat peaces from my wrap
