They're pretty fucking awful. They're absolutely PACKED with fat and sugar to provide a ton of calories for a soldier in the field. And salt to make them palatable. In fact, it's the same scientists who developed MREs to taste good who then later worked for fast food corporations to make their food addictive. The fat/sugar/salt ratio thing came from MREs.
