what does the yogurt setting do
>>
>>22032671
You pour in milk and add a spoonful of yoghurt. Then when you start it in yoghurt mode it heats the milk up a little and keeps it warm. I usually leave it overnight and by the next morning, it has become yoghurt

>need yogurt to make yogurt
does all yogurt come from previous yogurt in an unbroken chain of yogurt?
>>
>>22032732
alternatively you can put milk out in the sun for a while and hope the right bacteria will get to it
>>
>fish in a pressure cooker
how overcooked is it?
it's pretty much only good for tough roast cuts that need hours of braising. or beans. and if you want to make a stock you can't skim it. retarded indian device.

it's good for anything you would do in a slow cooker but want done in 40 minutes instead of 4 hours. it just werks.

>it's good for anything you would do in a slow cooker
Yeah if you want your food heated to over 212 degrees then it's good for that.

?? you often use the oven at 350 - 450...
>>
The timer is particularly useful. I use mine mostly for broth and legumes because your can set the timer to cook them after they've rehydrated if you actually measure the water by weight.

Also useful for home canning, streaming rice, and for nuisance firewood pot recipes like biriyani where you can't swap pots. Also good for hot pot, fondu, largely replaces the induction cooker.

Got one for $10 at a thrift store which had a bad seal and just bought a new seal ring from ebay.

pressure cooking superheats the liquid that covers every square inch of the food
>>
>>22032882
i dont think you understand how pressure cooking works... it does raise the boiling point of water but the max temp inside the pot is only like 250 at the very highest. how is this bad? it's why you can cook a whole pork butt down to falling off the bone tender in 40 minutes. it doesnt heat the pork butt to 250 degrees. that would result in an overcooked pork butt.
you're basically saying you think that if you deep fry chicken wings at 350 degrees then that is "superheated oil" and you're cooking the chicken to 350 degrees. which is incorrect and insane.

You can buy packets of yogurt starter but it's generally easier to just buy a small container of plain yogurt and use a spoonful of it to seed the milk that's going to be made into yogurt. As far as chaining yogurt seeding from batch to batch, yes you can do that, but over time some of the bacteria strains won't survive while others become dominate, so it's best to reseed once in a while with either a starter packet or yogurt from the grocery store.

why is there a Mickey themed pressure cooker
>>
>>22032732
just like sourdough starter, you more or less work once to cultivate it and then use it to kickstart whatever you want to do. alternatively, have friends give you a bit of theirs
>>
>>22032898
the anon you're replying to doesn't understand heat transfer or why pressure cooking works. you can of course overcook stuff in the instant pot, but that's only if you don't adjust the timings properly. the only real pitfall is that too many recipes online call for way too much water since they're actually converted slow cooker recipes, and that dilutes the flavor down

Pressure cooking inhibits heterocyclic amines (HCAs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and acrylamides,
making it safer than other high heat methods like grilling, frying, or roasting which greatly exacerbate carcinogen formation.
