What would Superman and the Justice League think of the SCP Foundation? Would they consider it a necessary evil for the survival of the world?
>>
>>101629860
I too enjoy shota Connor, but not in that manner.
>>
>>
>>
>>101629772
They'd disapprove because the justice league is inherently a hypocritical faction that calls others out on shit despite doing worse.
But they'd allow them to go ahead with their doings because they literally wouldnt have any other way of dealing with the many clear and present dangers.
Batman may buy his way into the organization so he'd have some stake in whats going on, not to stop it or be more humane, but to be prepared for whats to come.

YFW Batman advances study on SCP 686, and at the end of one day, several vials went missing.
>>
>>101632304

Fucking hell that is LEWD.
>>
>>101629772
Well, since the SCP would probably consider them to be Euclid class objects, they'd most likely seek to contain them all.
>>
>>101629772
The mass execution of the d boys every month would probably be enough to make it a no go. Then there are the relatively friendly SCP's like the invisble woman or that one guy who jumps between story books who they woiuld probably be against enslaving. Then there would be shit like the girl that has to be raped every day that they just plain wouldn't stand for. Basically the League would probably try to dismantle the Foundation and probably caue the end of the world in the process.
>>
To be fair parts of Belle Reve and other supervillain prisons are pretty much The Foundation already, depending on sentience and power of their prisoners. I doubt they'd blink, really.
>>
>>101630141

You'd prefer him face down?
>>
>>101632389
Most of the league would probably be keter class wouldn't they? I mean aside from Batman almost all the main members are world breakers.
>>
>>101632401
>Then there would be shit like the girl that has to be raped every day that they just plain wouldn't stand for

Would Justice League Dark be able to anything about it?
>>
>>101632453
Hard to say, I mean really it sounds kind of like Raven's situation, If it's on par with Trigon in strength they probably could, but no one really knows.
>>
>>101632447
I just checked the page
http://www.scp-wiki.net/object-classes
and they said sentient beings are usually Euclid.
>>
>>101632496
sentience does not automatically mean Euclid, though. It just means that a sentient SCP with even a relatively harmless anomaly is still too unpredictable to be considered Safe. There's loads of sentient Keters.
>>
>>101632564
I think its also contingent on how hard it is contain them, which I think Batman showed can be done (relative to some of the other SCPs) easily.
>>
>>101632564
This, at worst the league would be keters because they'd be hard as hell to contain, at best they would be thaumiel class if they work with the foundation.
>>
>>101632401
>>101632453
If we go by original Montauk, then yes. The League and its various counterparts would do everything in their power to find an alternative. If we go by the Foundation just reading the girl storybooks every once and a while and 999 is the actual child? They might be fine with it.

They would also be utterly horrified of that one circus that caused a guy to get forcefully sexually penetrated through the left eye, and might side with the Founation to stop shit like that alone.
>>
>>101632595
well that's the thing, right? SCPs are fragments of an insane universe trying to tear down the walls of rationality that humanity has built up around itself, whereas metas and aliens in DC are potentially weird but not inherently malicious to a rational universe.
>>
>>101632710
If you go by the original Montauk, we do not have any information on what happens during the procedure. It is certainly written in such a way that one will assume the worst, but that may be part of the ruse. We will never know.
>>
>>101629772
Horrifically incompetent because the DCU is full of various organizations dedicated to finding, containing, and fighting the paranormal with significantly higher success rates in both acquisition and retention, and lack of collateral damage in doing so. Hell, a good chunk of the skips probably wouldn't even warrant containment in the DCU due to differences in knowledge base and less intrusive monitoring/control methods.
>>
>>101632710
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the storybook explanation is different from the 999 explanation and the 999 explanation explicitly states "strapped to a rape rack."
>>
>>101632723
Being fair, metas in DC are literally a result of the fact that humans are actually destined to take up the seats of the Gods of New Genesis when the time comes. If it weren't for White Martian fuckery, humanity would be impossibly different by now.
>>
>>101632710
Wait, what is this about a newer Montauk? I just read the article today and it seemed just as fucked up as I remembered. What does the tickle monster 999 have to do with anything?
>>
SCP gets gradually more and more stupid if you adapt the entire thing. There are just so MANY potential apocalypses on a knife's edge that it crosses the point of absurdity that the world hasn't been annihilated yet.

There should be a FEW facilities and outposts. A FEW looming apocalypses. I'm not saying delete all the unnecessary stories from SCP, just that if you're adapting it, don't operate under the assumption that they're all canon.

There are several articles that note/make reference towards many articles not necessarily taking place within the same universe as each other. At least one of them had a Church/Holy Inquisition-style Foundation running the show.

You are also browsing the board for stories where cataclysmic apocalypses, meta-threats, living evil galaxies and a whole bunch of other shit are a regular occurrence. Kinda odd for you to be criticizing other things for the same.

Remember that Simpsons episode where it was revealed that Mr Burns had every sickness known to man and few newly discovered ones, but the reason why he hasnt keeled over and died is because they cancel each other out?

Thats basically how I view the SCP world.

it's pretty easy to rationalize the thousands of near-extinctions with the anthropic principle. Any civilization which succumbs to one of them wouldn't be able to tell stories about things anymore, so the only civilizations you can read about are ones that have managed to keep them all contained or at bay, unlikely as it may be.

I personally like the one where Jupiter's spot is the aftermath of an alien doomsday weapon that was supposed to hit earth but crashed into jupiter instead by the merest of coincidences, and now the foundation has to block all communication from the damaged device to its mysterious creators so they don't find out about the malfunction. One of the researchers starts waxing philosophical about how we're constantly only barely surviving total annihilation from a hundred different angles by the barest of luck and coincidence, and in some cases there's nothing we can do about it but hope our luck keeps holding out

Honestly, you could easily get away with it by saying "hey, Earth is home to these super powerful SCPs, maybe they dont want their house destroyed" and thusly they might act outside human knowledge or understanding to thwart world ending threats.

There's actually one SCP that is a chess board that plays itself. White represents the forces of Good and benevolent powers acting to keep reality running against the innumerable horrors assaulting it, whilst Black represents Evil and the aforementioned innumerable horrors. Every move and piece Black takes directly manifests as existence suffering horrible shit like horrendous disasters, or new monsters forming, or world-annihilating cataclysm cropping up.

The best Foundation chess masters and researchers have noted that Black is the better player, and have calculated that it shall win in roughly 15 moves.

Part of the problem is that crossing over with the 'standard' SCP Foundation and a typical superhero universe is that by necessity it must happen when the first superheroes come out, or otherwise operate in a Broken Masquerade scenario where people are already aware about what isn't considered acceptable.

At least in my view.

In the light of that, the Foundation would stay as secretive as they can even as they work to contain more threats, and I'm sure they'll try to take down the Justice League to contain them or something... only to realize that doing so is making things worse because there are some threats the Foundation can't handle doing so.

So the Foundation ends up letting the heroes go and either reclassifies them as thaumiel, or just puts them at the bottom of the list of things they need to do.

There was a skip that actually told the Foundation what would happen if they either chucked 682 into space or nuked him into oblivion (can't quite member the details). It would proceed to grow to the size of Saturn in retaliation and then devour the entirety of the solar system.

I'd think a bigger issue is the other GoIs. There would be a massive scramble for them by everyone, the Foundations policy would massively clash with the GOC's and UIU's, and the superheroes themselves would be far more inclined to oppose the Foundation as a matter of principle. "So you got bit by a radioactive spider and now you have powers beyond that of normal men? Congratulations, you now get to be imprisoned for the rest of your life as a lab rat. But don't worry, we'll erase the memory of your aunt and friends so they won't miss you."

That being said, I want to see Grant Morrison take a crack at the Black Queen stuff.
>>
>>101633019
You can say the same thing about the DC Universe or any shared comic universe in general. SCP Foundation is pretty much a nigh-omnipotent facility, utilizing absolutely everything that their universe has to offer to contain and combat anomalies.

I mean they've developed methods of relocating the entire planet's population to another reality if the planet or their entire universe is about to end as well has a device called the Reality Anchor, which is literally a deus ex machina that reboots their entire universe if anything they weren't able to stop a large threat in time, they can only use it once but it's there.

SCP would certainly work as a comic book. Like the original Men In Black comic but times a thousand.
>>
>>101634296
682 doesn't actually need to eat to grow. It's literally theorized that its body is a "shell" for something completely alien to our reality, one that can be changed or modified whenever it needs it to.

It has also done crazier shit, like surviving the laws of physics being straight up erased around it.
>>
>>101629772

They'd probably see them as enemies and wipe them out when they find a facility along with whatever monster they have inside.

UIU would probably be the most kind to most superheroes, given that they'll help take care of things the UIU is massively outgunned in. That is, assuming that UIU can even survive in an America with anything resembling Checkmate or SHIELD.

GOC would be rather tough to parse.... Chances are they'd just recruit as many supeheroes as they can trust, likely as a reserve against the possibility of heroes going rogue, or heroes failing. After all, they do use mages and reverse engineer whatever anomalous things they can. That said, they probably wouldn't hesitate to flat-out murder any villains they couldn't co-op themselves.

I need to look into the Black Queen stuff myself.

You can end a chess match in well under 10 moves (or even less) if you're skilled enough. And Black is specifically noted to be using a prophylactic style with its few pieces to keep White at a direct disadvantage.
>>
>>101636251
The Foundation actually works to treat its more sapient (and benevolent) SCPs with some common decency. The ones who treat them like shit typically get re-assigned to Keter duty by the Ethics Committee.
>>
>>101636046
>I need to look into the Black Queen stuff myself.
You really don't. It's not good, but has an interesting premise.

I kinda like the idea that UIU would have more or less the same background, but tries to make up for their minuscule power and authority by cultivating good relationships among the low/non-powered heroes. Though since the Three Portlands stuff wouldn't clash as hard in a superhero setting, UIU could actually be a decently effective force.
>>

>>101636576
Keter simply denotes difficulty in containment, not how dangerous the skip. Plus the Site directors and staff have much more direct influence on how the skips are treated than the Ethics Committee, who primarily deal with overall procedure. Notably the Foundation treats Camera Girl and the chick who can cause cancer by looking at people like shit for no real reason.

>>
>>101629772
The SCP in the DC Universe would take a far different but still necissary role. In a world where the supernatural were considered a fact of daily life the Foundation would have no real reason to contain more mundane sentient creatures. So there’d be a split between the studying of the minatue of supernatural objects to better understand the (theoretically more consistent) physics underpinning the DC52 and the research/containment/theoretical neutralization of global/cosmic threats, aka the medicore wannabe lovecraftian horrors the mythos craps out every few months. In other words the shit that the League can’t/won’t deal with. In that sense the League may disagree with the Foundation’s morals and methods, but ultimately leave them be for the most part because the niche they’d fill would be too valuable to ignore. For the Foundation, the recognization of supernatural shit in the daily world saves them the trouble of containing EVERY anonaly, and merely focus on the shit that’s most scientifically interesting/dangerous.

i think that the justice league would try to make them more ethical: that is to make them stop using d bois as test subjects and helping in the containment of dangerous skips, meanwhile the foundation would release some of their more safe skips to the public, like iris. She would fit perfectly on the DC world.
>>
This brought a question to the front of my mind. How would the foundation react to the events of METAL, final crisis, No justice, etc? would they bring out their big guns, or would they be waiting in the center of the earth with their big reset button primed and ready?

Evidence of its existence comes mainly in the form of monofilament wires which the organism apparently synthesizes. These fibers are extremely thin and durable; they are capable of slicing through soft tissue, bone, and even body armor with very little force. Coupled with the difficulty of seeing them, this constitutes a serious hazard to all personnel within the container. 954 seconds: Researchers determine that D-Act is attempting to refill SCP-209 with blood from the corpse of D-Prey 1. Per orders, one (1) security staff member enters and neutralizes D-Act, recovering SCP-209 still in its empty state.

It is first seen as a hallway with white walls, plain wooden doors twenty (20) metres apart and approximately two (2) metres high, and brass handles, with no special attributes visible. This detail is consistent across all accounts. It was found on location at [DATA EXPUNGED] and upon investigation, a Dimensional Containment Site was set up around it. The remainder of the original building surrounding it is unremarkable and has been demolished as such.

Not so much 'beat' as 'leave the universe destroyed or dead', but there are plenty.

One that comes to mind is the cave that leads to a parallel world that's exactly identical to ours, except that all life ended the moment it was entered through the cave.

And this means 'everything that can remotely be considered to be alive'. Bodies didn't decay because all microbial life died. Sentient computer programs broke down. Artifacts containing souls turned inert. Sentient entities that aren't physical or only exist in ideaspace 'died' or ceased to exist.

So if someone from a parallel world entered their cave and exited into ours, that'd be that. No more Superman, and no more anything.

It's SCP 946.
http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-946
>>
Dr Fate wrecks shit like the upper-tier SCPs all the time. I’m sure there’s a couple he can’t handle, but Constantine or Zatanna could probably pick up the slack for the rest, assuming Spectre or Phantom Stranger didn’t have to get involved.
>>
>>
>>101646427
The rewrite of 049 is one of the best recent examples of why 'less is sometimes more' should be something people remember.

>tfw so many people on the SCP community hate old SCPs for being short and not going into autistic amounts of lore when they're just supposed to be creepypastas with images attached
>>
>>101654205
Whilst I ddon't doubt that Constantine could wreck face in the SCPverse, there are several things that would be in pure OCP territory for him.

He also doesn't have the fact that his name and reputation alone inspire terror amongst infernal circles going for him, nor would he have the whole "Sold his soul to so many Demon Lords that if any he of them attempts to make a full claim, the rest will gangbang it into oblivion" thing.
>>
>>101654426
*don't, one of them*
>>
>>101646542
But did they need their approval? Nope. They could've made a flash game anyone and there was nothing the ledditors would be able to do about it.

>>101646677
It's still more or less public domain, meaning it's open for grabs to any and all who want it. The Mouse can and will trademark it's version of SCP while aggressively building up walls against redditors trying to launch law suits. That's the problem with webfiction. For in the end you have no legal control over your work.

Goddamn guys. Remember what Martin said about Lovecraft and Burroughs? Defend your creations or you won't make jack squat.
>>
>>101646449
SCP has gone to shit.
>>
>>101654754
>still doesn't get what Creative Commons means
Allow me to put this in simple terms so that even a braindead Disneyrag such as yourself can understand. Going by law, the only way that the Mouse could touch the SCP stuff is if the authors gave them explicit permission to do so. Otherwise, guess what? Disney gets jack-fucking squat from it, loses any rights they might have acquired and could very well get their asses put into the mother of all lawsuits by attempting to do so and trying to enforce themselves on something protected by the license.

This isn't like Lovecraft at all, where anyone can claim his own as their own or add to it wantonly. This is where if you aren't either someone the author knows, or someone close to the site as a whole, you get nothing. Period. No "LELREDDIT" involved whatsoever.

>>
>>101645536
And remember it's just a theory

A GAY THEORY
>>
>>101654754
>Martin said about Lovecraft and Burroughs

Lovecraft willingly let other people use his creations, and even farmed them out, essentially. That's why he's so well known today.
>>
>>101654860
Alright shit for brains, please show me the strong (and not weak shit any two bit TV lawyer can throw out of court) legal protections Creative Commons supposedly has for it's creators. If there's a column in PRINT, "x owns SCP 173 and claims profits under US Law," then I'll concede. But if not, SCP 682 is literally another Robin Hood, or Aladdin, or Achilles.

Also you seriously sound like you're in denial. Get a real job if you're so worked up. Fuck.

>>
>>101655129
Yet Borroughs had his own town, a mansion, and his household still makes money off it today. Lovecraft died in poverty, eating cold beans straight out of a can. Again, if you don't trademark and protect your content, you're fucked.
>>
>>101655189
Yeah. How many people have heard about Tarzan, beyond that (pretty good) movie that came out 2 years ago?

Also, I'm not sure how exactly Lovecraft's poverty was related to trademark dilution? Like, was his trademark diluted? I mean, everyone literally calls the genre "Lovecraftian".
>>
>>101655278
Lots of people read Tarzan today. Even if Tarzan went the way of the Shadow, the Burroughs are still well off and fairly wealthy while the Lovecrafts all died out in abject poverty. See what I mean? While yes, Lovecraft did contribute to the genre, it didn't mean much in regards to his own life.
>>
>>101633569
>>101635944
Yes and no. The original post came out before Blink ever aired, but the script was written before the post was made. They kind of just happened around the same time, but weren't influenced by each other.
>>
>>101655165
>Also you seriously sound like you're in denial.
Them moment anyone uses "loldenial" to act as a backing for their argument, they have already conceded the debate.

You are also literally arguing for the Mouse to try and target something that is 1) under direct copyright law, 2) is under a completely non-revocable license that is supported under entire global network systems, and is 3) would require them to directly cite the author(s) involved in the work in order for them to use it under the aforementioned laws and networks. Failure to understand any of these three things before them jumping in to snatch the work from "leRedditors" could have them getting fucking lawsuits out the ass for their troubles, which you don't seem to realize autismo.
>>
>>101629772
"LOL! Superman! Everything you know and love is just one big containment simulation to stop you from unleashing your godlike powers on the world! SCP FTW!"
>>
>>101655165
It's under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license. That means Disney is free to produce content based on SCP, or even outright steal it, but they must attribute both the wiki and the author and release their work under the same license. That last part is the real stickler, as it means anyone would be free to copy or create derivative works of a hypothetical Disney SCP work and Disney couldn't stop them. You could sit there with a camcorder in the theatre and it'd be legal, you could then take that recording and sell dvds and it'd be legal, you could make merch and sell it, and it'd be legal. And all you'd have to do is include a little note that said "Created by Disney."
>>
>>101655465
>No clear protection law.
>Copyright law mentioned, but it's exact wording is hilariously absent. Status as public domain content still ambiguous.
>Authors having any real control despite being literally NAKED legal wise.
>Ad hominems galore.
I SEE. You totally destroyed my argument and will totally make a fortune. And totally won't fuck up and end up being a low quality lolcow on Kiwifarms.
>>
>>101655326
See https://nihilistic-kid.livejournal.com/1470621.html . Basically, the reason Lovecraft died in poverty was due to mental instability, and lack of prestige at the time, plus unrelated complications at his death. He never lost his copyright due to letting others play in his verse. Indeed, letting others write his characters made him more popular than he would have been than if he hadn't.
>>
>>101655494

>>
>>101655326
Lovecraft's contribution to the genre was posthumous and owed primarily to Derleth pushing Lovecraft's work. Lovecraft was poor because no one read his work, not because other people used his concepts. The simple fact of the matter is that his writing didn't really resonate with readers at the time.

The dimension is practically inescapable if you odnt know where the specific exit is, and it will change around you to let the thing stalking it catch you easier. Maybe Thawne could get rid of the creature, but I odnt think he can do much about being caught in its realm.

You enjoy the tale that connects 999 to Scarlet King? That’s now canon if you want it to be.
