That's what you get for using the first greedy rubix cube solving algorithm you found on the internet, silly robot. Any proper algorithm would have immediately identified the cube as unsolvable.
>>
>>103502650
In most regards the characters needed to note that he was a robot. Like when the teacher gets pissed a robot is smarter than him, or like in this one where they think it's fine to let a robot involved in a human contest. They just treat him normally until he glitches out, which is cute but it raises many issues and they had to fix one themselves in this episode.

I hate Best Burger in the World more because of the way Benson treats those two in the episode

I know it's a meme, but even as a kid this one pissed me off because never at any point did this episode acknowledge that DW was wrong to play with Arthur's model plane when he told her not to and she never apologizes or even shows any remorse for wrecking it. Or that it's okay for Arthur to be upset/angry about the situation, the whole thing is played like Arthur was the only one in the wrong at all. Also, the whole Binky randomly coming up and hitting him is a totally bullshit metaphor.

Very special "Guns are bad" episode, except the guns are remotes, and instead of killing people, they turn them into skeletons. And the entire point makes no sense since the main cast technically work in a store that sells deadly weapons to kids, and seldom question that aspect of their lives.

I'll play devil's advocate here. While the episode was completely unsubtle and its message didn't tonally mesh well with show's universe, if you look beyond the theme it's a pretty fun episode. The salesman's song is pretty catchy and it still has the charm that a lot of OK KO episodes have. Am I saying it's good? No. Am I saying that other shows could have done this far worse? Yes.

real politics shouldn't be in kids cartoons, 80s, 90s, or 2000s, at least the old PSAs were more focused on safety rather than saying "screw it no one's smart enough for that", one teaches kids safety, one teaches them to be advocates in something that has different, strong and elaborate viewpoints, no one's going to say "i DON'T think you should be safe with guns!"

Aight you folks were right this was super weird and out of nowhere. Which is sad because the episode could have been a fun menagerie of skeleton jokes like when Enid and Rad did the skeleton dance to walk out of frame. If they just made it about the dangers of snake oil salesmen instead of a super blatant anti-gun thing the episode could have been good, there would need to be a different ending though.

>>
>>103508081
At the very least, the Kankers are a known X Factor that can be added in and it at least makes sense. For a scam to be truly successful, the Eds have to earthquake-proof that shit, since the Kankers are an act of God when it comes to things going bad.

Still a cop-out sometimes, but makes for entertaining turns of events, like with Eddy's Creek Cruise

The basketball episode is a good example of the show just shitting on him for no reason. The ending makes no god damned sense. He's a robot: A machine. Machines have interchangeable parts. I wonder if they had kept going if it'd have moved up in its scale. I mean, the series finale was supposed to be Jones taking over Earth, I see that being pretty cathartic for his treatment being rubbish. In any case, given more time to develop I'm sure the writers would want to branch out, it happens usually with a 3rd season (think Regular Show, where they weren't ALLOWED to deviate from Mordecai and Rigby stories until they filled CN's quota.)

One of the more frustrating aspects was how loose the setting's aspects were handled between writers. Did Shannon like Robot Jones or did she think he was a dweeb? Did the kids think Robot was cool and just scary sometimes, or did they think he was too weird no matter what? It just sucks, I liked the idea and designs behind Jones, I just wish we either got to see a 3rd season to see the writers evolve the nature of the series, or that they had just done it by Season 2. CN hates robots though, despite from what I hear it doing good in the ratings, they never promoted it.

The notion of all the bullshit Jones goes through actually building up to something, let alone to an Earth takeover, is pretty surprising because nothing in the whole show so much as hints toward that outcome. Sure Jones goes haywire in every other episode but it wasn't suggested he was growing more and more resentful of this treatment and as you say the character dynamics were whatever helped the plot at hand flow easier.

he goes haywire because humans, especially middle schoolers, are incredibly irrational.

>>
>>103510097
In the politics episode he randomly gets antsy about ruling the world and cosmos. I mean, its just a jab about power going to his head and him not understanding things, but he seemed fine with the idea then.

The way I see it, no continuity or build up would happen, it'd be regulated to the final episode. Say, graduation happens and his parental units think he's achieved enough input on humans, then they reveal something about running humanity being his prime directive, and he thinks its fine.

I dunno, I just don't see how they'd handle it. Wasn't the idea that it wasn't peaceful and it became like a fucking hellscape and everyone was scared? I can't see there being an entire episode leading up to a bad end like that unless it's for a joke (he doesn't realize the harm he's doing and thinks its something normal) or it's at the last minute / during a montage/flash forward.

I think it'd have made a banger TV movie...in theory. In execution the lackluster writing doesn't give me much confidence they could have pulled it off.
Hell, a TV movie done well could have made the entire show redundant because they could show the resentment building up in a way the series proper never bothered to.

>Did the kids think Robot was cool and just scary sometimes, or did they think he was too weird no matter what?
This honestly amplified how fucked up Jones' situation was. It would be one thing if they just straight didn't like him, but the looseness of their relationship between writers makes the overall affair seem like they're pretending to be friends with Jones specifically to bully him, which is a level of emotional abuse that is both extremely damaging for a child (robot or otherwise) and unpleasantly realistic.

I dunno, there was a lot of shit in such a short lived series about how robots and humans don't see eye to eye. Beyond the jokes of "he's smarter than humans", the entire concept of his grandfather robot was that he was racist to humans. The 2 episodes I recall it being prominent in is the vacuum friend episode where he rambles to Jones that robots should be the prominent race, and the house party episode where they constantly have Jones think of the many ways his grandpa would fucking annihilate the humans, though they mixed that one a lot with absent mindedness defense since he even had a hard time recognizing Jones. Other than that, some of Jones' conclusions at the end of the day were kinda negative to humans, I could see all that building up.

RJ had a weird case of continuity for such an early show. There was the rubix cube episode where he impressed everyone with his ability to solve them immediately, and then in the next season he uses it again in an attempt to be popular only to show the fad was over by then. I wonder if they would've added more continuity as it went on.

Season 1 is pretty decent, though it disappointingly undermines the mystery aspect in favor of slice of life antics. I suppose it doesn’t matter nowadays if you’re watching it just as an enjoyable kids comedy, but when it was airing and there were a bunch of breaks between some episodes, it would feel disappointing just to get a gag episode. The irl mystery aspect was what made the show truly unique and memorable in my opinion, so I don’t know if people watching the show now, with all of the secrets already found out, will get as much out of it. If somebody watched it after it ended, let me know what you thought.

The first half of Season 2 is genuinely great imo. They really amp up the horror and some of the best storylines, jokes, and reveals happen. I think it’s he best of the show. The second half, in contrast, is what I consider the worst of the show. All of the episodes feel rushed and phoned in, considering Alex planned to expand everything with a third season, but got burnt out and slapped everything together for the finale. The disappointment was salvaged a bit with the internet hunt for Bill quest (colossal tumblr faggotry aside), but again, I don’t know if that registers for people only watching the show.

>>
>>103512938
I looked up a summary and it seems my dislike was kind of off-point. As I remembered it the Eds just get framed for a bunch of shit, the kids turn on them, and then in the process of trying to prove their innocence proceed to fall into more traps framing them for other misdeeds. The eds think Rolf is doing it because of these candies that are everywhere and because he was eating them all episode. But actually they get trapped in a shed with the Kankers, and at that point Jimmy reveals that he orchestrated the whole thing as a pay to punish the Eds, he did tons of slimy shit and blamed it on them, and by playing the innocent game avoided a very obvious instance where he was implicated as a suspect. It ends with everyone hating the Eds and the Kankers having their way with them.

What I forgot upon looking it up though is that Eddy gave Jimmy an atomic wedgie in the beginning of the episode, and that was why he did all the shit to them. I think that on top of feeling like his revenge went too far, I think that I was just bothered by the premise of the episode. Like, why did Eddy give Jimmy an atomic wedgie? Direct malevolent violence like that seems weird coming from him, and then the rest of the episode is just the Eds getting shit on, so I didn't like it for that either. Doesn't help that it's one of the only 22-minute episodes of the series so you don't even get the relief of a different episode afterward. Never liked this ep and I always skip it when revisiting the series.
>>
>>103514681
RJ was pretty good, suffering and all. I don't know why people are down on it. I enjoyed how much every character is ugly and imperfect, and just gets dragged through the mud all their lives. Don't you remember the fight where he downloads Monkey Kong Jr. into his memory banks, or that other one where he's saving his friends by skateboarding in the boiler room or whatever it was? That'd make sense if it wasn't just Jones that gets the short end of the stick over and over. And there's nothing wrong with someone who gets fucked over by their universe and loses much more often than the win (hell, I'm a Donald Duck stan), but the execution is key. Basically the whole episode is him begging like a baby for stuff, specifically toast. He goes to Utonium's house he screams at him to give him toast.
He then fucks up Utonium's lab and gets turned into a giant and starts putting people's lives in danger with his pathetic tantrums.
Throughout the episode his begging is literally in baby speak "Mayor want toast!" It is incredibly obnoxious and takes one of the funniest characters in the show and makes him insufferable.

Lincoln and Clyde are fucking boring characters with very few good episodes to their names and the only reason to really watch this show (TLH) is for the sisters, if you ask me (you didn't, but fuck you, anyway - I'm saying it loud & proud!.).

Even the least interesting / most boring plot involving one of the sisters is still more endearing and entertaining by the end than ANYTHING focusing on Lincoln, Clyde, or BOTH.

FIGHT ME.
>>
>>103502264
To be fair, this show is hot garbage - unique art style, but nothing else going for it because the MC is treated like shit for no good reason and it simply isn't funny, let alone endearing. I'm glad it got canned - one of CN's absolute worst shows.

Makes me thankful for the likes of Clarence, We Bare Bears, Craig of the Creek, and Summer Camp Island - at least those fucking shows know a thing or two about being legit endearing, save for some bad episodes themselves, here or there!

For what I remember, Mabel needs some Unicorn hair for an Anti-Bill Cipher thing.
The Unicorn doesn't give it to her because she isnt "pure" enough, leading Mabel to do a bucket list containing good deeds or something.
The Unicorn is never satisfied, and Mabel gets sad. The twist however, is that the Unicorn was actually only being a dick, and when the girls notice they beat the shit out of it and steal the hair.
The morale is don't attempt to be perfect???
It wasnt a bad episode but, considering it was one of the final ones, it came off as just, eeh? I would have loved it if this situation actually developed more on Mabel's insecurities instead of the conclusion being "Unicorns are assholes lmao", considering what Mabel does in the finale, some foreshadowing would have been good.
It's better than Roadside Attraction though, that one was shit.

Yeah, that episode was awful. It ignored all the previous episodes of the show.

I remember when I was a kid me and my cousin were watching Tom and Jerry and I mentioned how Tom never wins. He said he does and told him no way. The very next episode happened to be one of the rare Tom wins episodes and my cousin was so fucking smug about it.

That stupid Fosters special Day Without Bloo. I'm glad it's lost media. It wasn't part of the series itself and was more of some kind of between seasons filler CN made though.
>oh fuck oh jeez WHERE IS BLOO
>mac starts acting out of character
>they find him and he's hanging out at a similar foster home on the next block which is just an imaginary friend that looks like the place for some reason

As for an episode in the actual series, probably the berry one, or the one where the entire plot hinges on cheese screaming like a fucking retard.

The worst part was that they were doing that really unfunny "haha competent baby" joke the whole time, it was really fucking obnoxious. Her character is already like that anyway but it was worse here, even without the whole torturing thing going too far.

Really the rival was where I felt like not watching this show anymore, Season 6 just kept fucking going and going with reasons.

Season 5 was hit or miss. The Rival, however, made me hate Anais again. It made me remember what a self-entitled snob she is and how little comeuppance she receives in the show.
>>
>>103503113
That picture was grade-A catharsis though. And even if the episodes did start to go downhill, the first three episodes were some of the best TV I've ever watched.

>>103510368
The measurement of a career is commercial success, and the whole season brought in viewer counts Toonami hadn't seen in years. On top of that, there are THREE Hotel Transylvania movies, and Clone Wars is still fondly remembered. A couple of weak episodes is not a career-killer.

Speaking of Robot Jones, that episode where the copy machine falls in love with him was pretty sad, and it was hard to sympathize with him flirting with one of his classmates since she's one of those distant-love-interest-never-developed types.
At least, if I remember right.

Even though it ended on a good note and it was meant well, Nicole was still a gigantic shithead towards Gumball - who was the most reasonable at home again.

It proves that Nicole's quite a toxic person and that Gumball is lucky only having her looks.

I think the idea was supposed to be that she's too young to really understand what was going on or what she did, even though that contradicts pretty much every other episode.
>>
>>103534091
It's a scam because the Eds just put more effort into it, but it's still supposed to swindle. Their mindset in creating it is "sucker the kids into giving us quarters", not "make an actually beneficial tactic that earns money and helps the customer"
>>
>>103512938
>Did the Eds get undeservedly shat on to an uncomfortable level
That's every episode though. I'm sure there was one where they got their quarters and their jawbreakers and everything worked out just fine, but it was probably only one or two, just like there's one or two episodes where Dexter defeats Deedee, like the reversal belt episode.
>>
>>103534088
>she gets just barley enough slapstick
Not really. The only time she got actual slapstick was in the first episode of the first season.
>TTGfags
Raven and Starfire actually get a lot of shit, m8. The boys also beat the shit out of them in some episodes. Imagine Gumball beating Nicole or Anais with a bat.
>>
>>103506358
I'm pretty sure they threw in a quick "that may be" when Arthur said she was being a dick and was in the wrong, but that's all there was.

Can't find anything on it. How lost is this thing?

>they find him and he's hanging out at a similar foster home on the next block which is just an imaginary friend that looks like the place for some reason
This makes it sound like a waste of a concept.
>>
All he did was make a few jokes about boobs and they treated it like he was literally Hitler

Why did they act like he deserved this? South Park jokes about far more sensitive stuff all the time.

The stuff he did in other episodes doesnt matter. Wendy wasnt beating him up because of that. Also Wendy has literally murdered someone.
>>
>>103534190
>Can't find anything on it. How lost is this thing?
The Lost Media Wikia (actual wikia, before they made their own site) removed the page years ago back when "if it's unconfirmed for over 2 years, it leaves the site" was a rule. With it went links to the internet archives of CN's schedule saying Fosters Special: Day Without Bloo which was like the one thing outright confirming it.

Pineapple on pizza is fine and some people just have a weird averse reaction to the notion of pizza with sweet toppings. But potato chips should not taste like pickles, it's just too weird.

Gumball became an asshole in later seasons tho.
>>
>>103534261
See that's the issue with a lot of these "cathartic" moments, you can argue it's just in general and they had it coming, but the cathartic moment almost always gets built up on the episodic problem of the day where they don't mention passed issues, and it turns out this one was dumb. Wendy is a bitch. I agree with that anon.

That's true, but he always got his comeuppance. Hell, it became standard that he'd always get it.

But during 'The Fridge', the only comeuppance Nicole received is that she has to remove the board.

She could still force them to achieve perfection and make their household as much as a hell like that of a young Chinese athlete.
