>Marvel's new Ultimate Universe is about to enter its second year and readers can look forward to more of the unpredictable storytelling and bold character reinventions that have defined this exciting new line of comics. With the Maker's return imminent, the stakes are higher than ever and as his Council struggles to maintain their control, the heroes of this once-doomed world will face their greatest challenges yet. Today, fans can peek ahead at what’s to come in January’s Ultimate issues.

>The cover reveals and synopses for January's issues spotlight the debut of the Ultimate Guardians of the Galaxy; the climactic showdown between Black Panther and Moon Knight; Kraven’s Ultimate Hunt; and the X-Men’s rise as a new band of mutant super heroes!

>Hailing from the far future, the new Guardians consist of Star-Lord, Captain Marvel, Ultimate Nullifier, and Cosmo. These galactic heroes have travelled across time and space to find their missing teammates and the secrets they know about the universe’s hidden past may prove vital to the Ultimates' mission to take down the Maker!
>>
>THE ULTIMATE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY! America Chavez takes center stage in this issue as a group of galactic travelers from a far-flung, Maker-free future arrive in search of her!

"The creative goal we set for ourselves on ULTIMATES (2024)—in addition to telling complete stories every issue—was to create (or recreate) characters interesting enough to sustain readers' imaginations and their own series, if they had to," ULTIMATES writer Deniz Camp explained. "Whether we've succeeded on either count is up to the readers to decide, but the reaction so far has been really special. I am so grateful for it, and am doing my best to be worthy of it.

"Issue eight introduces the Ultimate Guardians of the Galaxy, and I hope readers enjoy meeting the heroes of the future as much as I enjoyed writing them! It's our most cosmic issue to date, the life and death of universes in 20 pages, and explores new sides of the Ultimate Universe through Ultimate America Chavez, who has quickly become a favorite of mine."

>WHO ARE THE X-MEN? RISE OF THE MASKED MUTANTS! Maystorm takes the reins! No more hiding their powers – even if it means hiding their faces! Disenfranchised and despairing after the raid on the Children of the Atom, the man-made mutants seek out leadership – and Maystorm is ready to rise to the occasion!

>The new Ultimate Universe was created by the Maker—a deranged alternate reality version of Reed Richards—to be a world without super heroes. Manipulating his way through the timestream to rob your favorite characters of their destinies, the Maker and his Council rule the earth from the shadows, twisting the truth to ensure their domination.

>Recently, the Maker has been put in a 16-month captivity. When he emerges, he’ll find a new generation of super heroes, nations, and young mutants ready to fight back!

Star-Lord sure looks like a new take on 70s Star-Lord’s mysticism. Might even be the Master of the Sun himself?
>>
>>145715427
Wait I know the Nullifier guy
He's from the same issue that America first appeared in
https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Ultimate_Nullifier_(Mayne)_(Earth-616)
>>
>>145715418
>Ultimate Nullifier
I guess that makes sense we haven't seen the 616 version since his debate along with America
>>
>>145715443
>Love letter to Kraven's last hunt
Okay so he's defi gonna die, who do you guys think is gonna kill him?
>>
>>145715515
Harry will be goaded by NormanGPT to kill him
>>
>>145715443
inb4 he jobs anticlimactically like the original Ultimate Kraven
>>
>>145715515
>>145715524
Harry killing him would be too similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for my liking. But this series is much better written so far than that shitshow, so it could work.
>>
>>145715427
so who do we think is Captain Marvel in this universe?
>>
>>145715549
Maybe it's AI Peter who ends up killing him? Issue 12 already implies that it's starting to make Peter act "strange"
>>
>>145715495
>>145715498
I wonder if they'll make out again
>>
>>145715565
Very far future descendant of Mystique and Carol Danvers.

More, insane, evidence that the guy writing Ultimates is bizarrely knowledgeable about America. Guess the dude really is reading all those old, forgotten runs.

>>145715746
Funnily enough, that didn't even happen in Vengeance. It was added in Gillen's YA, which is also the run that made her a lesbian from the lesbian dimension. Weird stuff.

>It’s the epic climax of the title’s first year!
And probably its last
>>
>barely any response
Hickmanverse has no actual interest. Only reason USM sells is becuase retards think they're "sending a message" and Marvel will fix ASM when all they're doing is giving Marvel money and making them think a containment book is for the best while they continue ruining the main book.
>>
>>145715974
I think Black Panther will keep going until the Maker comes back

I really hope this isn't the rumored new title, because you couldn't pay me to read about these faggots. I hope it's either FF or some Council/Illuminati book.
>>

>Hickmanverse has no actual interest.

>Talking about comics that isn't ragebait
>>
>>145716027
isn't the going rumour that the new book will be Fury book by Chris Condon and the Moon Knight artist
>>
>>145715427
...Is Captain Marvel supposed to be Mystique? She started out as a Carol villain after all...
>>
>>145716071
Just wishful thinking, nothing concrete. The creative team is probably right, since they were recently added to the one-shot, but I don't know if it'll be Fury getting the book. Could be, as he's the mystery figure that was teased and will be debuting in it. A Fury/Illuminati/HAND book would be right up my alley personally, so I hope it's true.
>>
>>145715427
>Captain Marvel has Genis star body thing
Pretty cool.
>>
>>145715994
pretty sure the only reason USM sells is because of the running FOMO from issue #1, and because well its Spider-Man. we should just start a running joke, assuming there isn't already one, about certain Spider-Man fans who are just collectors. they're just Jonah Jamesons. early every Wednesday, they sit down and call their LCS and slam their fists on a desk shouting, "GET ME PICTURES OF SPIDER-MAN!"
>>
>>145715495
Does that mean America really do come feom the future in the Makerverse?
>>
>>145715418
>>145715427
>Captain Marvel
>red-headed blue kree
Are we getting Mystique and going back to the original idea for her origin? That she was some kind of Kree-Skrull hybrid.
>>145715435
At this point, who is even reading Ult. Black Panther anymore? It's so fucking boring.
>>
>>145715443
This Kraven is such a beast bro I wanna see him fuck MJ and Gwen like Peter and Harry never could. Fuck he's so big.
>>
>>145716127
wait new Ultimate Fury is white? now thats a twist
>>
>>145715451
Knowing UXM's track record, the solicit is probably all wrong about what's going to open.
>>
>>145715418
>>145715427
>Cosmo is a Nova
Are we gonna see Ultimate Richard Rider?
>>
>>145716352
Didn't someone theorize he might be 616 Fury Sr. undercover?
>>
>>145716127
>Could be, as he's the mystery figure that was teased and will be debuting in it
There were actually two mystery debuts teased for it, with Fury as one. My guess is the second one is a character who will be leading into the new book.
>>
>>145716370
>Ultimate Nova is a chick named Katt Grazer
Hickman, hire me. Let me write Cosmic 6160.
>>
>>145716392
That's extremely unlikely. No one from Earth-616 is even aware that Earth-6160 exists.
>>
>>145717118
I think Miles is supposed to

Also isn't this the same America Chavez?
>>
>>145715515
>>145715658
It's going to be like in Life Story where Peter gets buried and the symbiote rushed out to save him.
>>
>>145717166
No, her being unique in the multiverse got retconned and this seems to confirm this version is a time traveller. Hell >>145715427 even calls her “Ultimate America Chavez.”
>>
>>145715427
HAHAHAHHA, where's the Carolfag in denial about her blowing the fuck up back in Ultimates #1?
>>
>>145717585
These guys are from the far future

Why would there be a future Captain Marvel legacy if there isn't one in the modern day?
>>
>>145717260
>No, her being unique in the multiverse got retconned and this seems to confirm this version is a time traveller. Hell >>145715427 even calls her “Ultimate America Chavez.”
It probably just a Rachel Summers situation. Yes, there are other people called Rachel in the multiverse that look and act the same, but 616 Rachel is unique and has no variants.
>>
>>145715994
Space isn't really my thing.
>>
>>145716392
That would require Marvel to actually care about the original Nick Fury
>>
>>145715891
>Ultimates is bizarrely knowledgeable about America.
Is he gonna callback Gabby's run?
>>
>>145717733
nah, pretty much everything from her background in Young Avengers has been poisoned SO HARD by Gabby Rivera's mini that the successive mini COMPLETELY RETCONNED pretty much everything about it and also lowered her power-level for good measure.
>>
>>145715427
I want to kiss Captain Marvel.
>>
>>145715443
KLH is so above Hickman's level it's not even funny, this is a terrible idea.
>>
>>145717733
>>145718744
Yeah, the Utopian Parallel was retconned to just be an island on Earth. America's just a random girl from 616, there's now no reason for her to be the only one in the multiverse.
>>
>>145715891

wonder if joe casey will lose his shit about the creative rights if thats true
>>
>>145718140
He already kinda did: Gabby's run is half about Midas's company, though only his daughter shows up, trying to kidnap America to make a bunch of weird weapons based off her (maybe using her powers to power them?).

Meanwhile Ultimates #2 ends up being about Midas hooking a kidnapped America up to a generator to power a bunch of shit (and to "bath in her light" to give himself super powers).
>>
>>145717733
>Yes, there are other people called Rachel in the multiverse that look and act the same, but 616 Rachel is unique and has no variants
I mean at that point, does it matter? It's just trying to have it both ways. Sure, you can say "oh those don't count for reasons," but in practice there's a number of versions that seems indistinguishable from "normal" AU versions.
>>
>>145715845
>>145715565
She's probably a Kree.
>>
>>145720341
Yeah, I don't get the theories about her being related to Mystique. I'm pretty sure we've seen redheaded Kree before.
>>
>>145720211
Huh. I assumed Midas was a reference to the Iron Man bad guy, but that Midas is actually a better match.
>>
>>145715443
THIRTEEN ISSUES AND STILL GOING STRONG

GWENSCHIZO SAID IT WOULD END BEFORE TWELVE. PEDOPHILES SAY A LOT OF SHIT.
>>
Ultimate Guardians being a mix of the modern team and the classic team is so cool
>>
>>145721004
It's definitely him, Midas first showed up wearing the gold OG Iron Man suit. That's from the wacky Morrison Marvel Boy short run, where he also "bathed in cosmic radiation" to get super powers. Which turned him into basically the super skrull (looks like the Thing and has the powers of the other three). He was also super corporate, but not quite as philosophical about it, as I recall. And when you're making a crazed villain more philosophical about their batshit ideas, you're doing something.
>>
>>145720211

I thought that panel of the dead Kree and Skrulls was throwaway so I’m excited it might matter

Was also surprised more people didn’t clock the Midas stuff
>>
>>145719546
It definitely will be better than Zeb Wells's attempt to homage the thing. God bless Zeb Wells, lowering the bar for everyone and making life sheer painful agony for any of Ultimate Spider-Man's critics.
>>
>>145715891
The one in YA wasn't even the real guy, right? So the 616 version hasn't actually appeared since Vengeance?
>>
>>145721941
Yeah, they (such as Marvel Boy's three ex's) were all like, weird magical simulacrum from what I recall.
>>
>>145715418
Oh I hate that Star Lord.
>>
>>145716208
>who is even reading Ult. Black Panther anymore? It's
I am
>>
>>145716366
This. And I hate that so much, it's like their trying to really sell it.
