Now that the dust has settled, there really was no good reason for these two not to have gotten together. It was just ideological bullshit.
>>146448315You're too early, the show is still on going. Try again in five weeks or so.
>>146448315Insufferable girlboss nigcunt and her soiboi gay in denial orbiter. Anyone who worked on This show deserves to burn.
>>146448315I can think of one good reason
>>146448348Didn't it get canceled?
>>146449365>Boimler gets with Vulcan Mariner>Mariner gets with Klingon BoimlerI'll take it.
>>146449843Nope. Just didn't get renewed
This season has the same problem as S4, there's just nothing to discuss. It just settled into this very predictable routine of doing mediocre Star Trek episodes that aren't even that funny. And some might consider it a good thing but they're just not good or thought-provoking enough to discuss. Nothing really happens. All the character development stuff is heading towards the most predictable outcome: everyone becomes the most sanitized and boring version of themselves. The first three seasons were a lot more unpredictable than this.
>>146450546So after everything, it wasn't the Rick & Morty influence or queer pandering that was its downfall. It was being a milquetoast sci-fi show, like Star Trek.
>>146451262Well, people think Orville is the greatest thing since sliced bread and it had like one good episode in its entire run. If that gets a pass, Lower Decks deserves it for sure.
>>146448315I was so sure they were introducing T'lyn to Boims love interest, after loving Mariner on to being forever bi, but guess I was wrong.
>>146451364Not a pass. Just forgotten. Prodigy was better Star Trek than this. Hope Netflix gets another season going at some point.
>>146449365He got another love interest, though it’s notable the girl is the klingon version of Mariner
>>146448315>>146453193I love them together but the writers would probably make things awkward if they made it canon. Probably the same reason Rutherford and Tendi aren’t together despite being very open about their attraction.
>>146452715AND THEY FUCK
>>146453269Have they shown any interest in eachother (Boims and T'lyn that is) as I haven't actually closely followed the show since she was introduced.
>>146448588Trumps going to die when Elon stabs himNerdrotic is married to Jabba the Hutt.
>>146448315Now that the dust has settled, there really was no good reason for this show to exist. It is just ideological bullshit.
>>146452715hey! i really like those designs!tlynn in particular looks gorgeous.
>>146448315Isn't she a dyke like 99% of modern female cartoon characters?
>>146453930She simped for that blonde captain dude too. Bi probably
We need a flashforward where Boimler has a dozen children from a dozen different raisin whores.
>>146453961>Bi probablyThere's no probably unless they insist on some more inclusive term because "bisexual" implies there's only two sexes she would fuck.
>>146454439We’ve only seen her in a relationship with a girl. They use by for soft lesbian. Like seriously name a bi girl in fiction that ends up with a guy. Than compare that to all the bi girls in fiction that’re with woman in the end.
>>146454903Dodgeball but that's live action
>>146448315No
This is at least giving whatever audience is left what it wants
>>146453930Self proclaimed bi/pan/xeno sexual.
>>146456069I feel like the obvious solution to much of her problems are insulating work gloves.
>>146448315She is disgusted having to think of him as a sexual being and would walk all over him in a relationship even if she wasn't. I know having a girlboss girlfriend is a fetish for some people, but I'm glad they kept it realistic here. What there's really no reason for is not partnering rutherford and tendi. They explcitly teased it with the ferenginar episode and just told us "lol no". It's some unfortunate cultural implication when the only relationship among the four is a lesbian one.
>>146454903>Like seriously name a bi girl in fiction that ends up with a guyThe only scenario where that happens if a girl is already in a relatinship with a male character, cannot break it off, but the author wants more brownie points so they decide to say they're "bi" or "pan"Isn't that what Owl house did with the fat asian chick?
>>146456832>It's some unfortunate cultural implication when the only relationship among the four is a lesbian oneStop noticing things.
>>146456832One of the main reasons LD even gained traction here is because people self inserted as Boimler and wanted Mariner to be his girlboss loud black woman gfIt's such a common thing on /co/ it's ridiculous.
>>146456992Oh my, that's truly terrible. I totally couldn't feel with them, I swear.
>>146456992It's time to admit that the show really has no actual heart without it. The utter lack of interest speaks for itself. People were NOT invested in the memberberries, they were NOT invested in the humor. They ONLY cared about the relationships, and they butchered them.
>>146457051You think having a dominating gf would be hot but it's really not.
>>146456672Oh, so it wasn't just me who thought that.
>>146448315I like how she fucked ransom like she was in heat.
>>146457053>no actual heartdude this show was clearly made by people who adore this franchise, the fuck are you talking about? It and SNW are the only NuTrek properties that actually feel like they came out of the Trek universe, as opposed to bending the Trek universe to fit a newer sensibility. ...then again I only made it through one ep of Prodigy and I hear that's the best of the lot.
>>146457153ah, fuck, I'm a faggot who read >>146457053 too fast. I disagree that it has no actual heart without Boims/Mariner though. I enjoy the other relationships, I enjoy the camaraderie. cancellation has more to do with Paramount being stingy fucks than with true audience alienation.
>>146457053Mother fucker you don't speak for me
>>146457062Oh I bet it would be totally hot until she gets bored and cucks me with chad.
>>146457153>dude this show was clearly made by people who adore this franchiseSo? It's completely fucking hollow. Memberberries are not a substitute for tales about genuine human connection, that's what OG Star Trek was all about. The only romantic plotline they ever did was a half-hearted attempt to pander to queers. It's so fucking soulless and forced. The show has NO SOUL whatsoever.I've just watched deepfaked Captain Kirk touch hands with deepfaked Spock, and that elicited a stronger reaction out of me than anything they attempted in Lower Decks since then. Take your fucking memberberries, I just want to feel something.
>>146456992You're so fucking stupid. I bet you think Zutara shippers self insert as Zuko.
>>146448315
>>146457555How am I wrong, exactly?>I want a ballbusting, domineering gf who will peg me! I don't care if it's only hot in my fantasies!
>>146458475You're operating under the rather faulty assumption that everyone who wants them together happens to be male, a male with a very specific fetish. While shipping and self-inserting can sometimes overlap, most of the time it's just people obsessing over a very specific character dynamic. They don't want to imagine themselves with a fictional character, they want specific fictional characters together. Either way, the psychological motivation is very different. Shipping is a traditionally female pastime, and women have historically been more inclined to play the roles of matchmakers. Perhaps women are biologically better at empathizing with others without necessarily having to see themselves in them.
>>146458475It's girls you idiotic baboon. The vast majority of shippers for these ships are girls. And they self insert as the girl. Girls write the majority of shipping fics in general.
>>146457244The memberberries ARE the vehicle for the human connections between the bridge crew, the lower deck five and combinations of the two. Has been the case from the start. Boimler and Mariner NEVER had romantic chemistry, that’s just patently insane. I only just rewatched the first 3 seasons and there’s nothing. Mariner has more lust for Ransom than she has for Boimler. Tendi and Rutherford are the ones with unresolved romantic feelings and they never put that into question in the show once.
>>146459669You're just media illiterate. They even did the "not my girlfriend/boyfriend" routine in the earlier seasons. It's actually Tendi and Rutherford who have absolutely no chemistry but the writers really want them together for some reason. Mariner and Boimler have chemistry but the writing does its best to destroy it.
>>146459748>It's actually Tendi and Rutherford who have absolutely no chemistry but the writers really want them together What tare you one about? Tendi & Rutherford are nothing but chemistry. Everybody but them see it, Ransom even gave Mariner a WTF look when they Tendi & Rutherford were crawling all over each other working in a Jefferies tube. >>146459748>the writers really want them together for some reason. >but the writing does its best to destroy it.You do know this is a show and writing is how everything happens? The show not being written the way you want doesn't mean the writers don't know what they're doing.
>>146460130>Everybody but them see it, Ransom even gave Mariner a WTF look when they Tendi & Rutherford were crawling all over each other working in a Jefferies tubeForced chemistry is not chemistry.>The show not being written the way you want doesn't mean the writers don't know what they're doingIt doesn't, but that doesn't mean they know what they're doing either. Because they don't. Just because you came up with something that doesn't mean you know what to do with it.>>>/tv/206088159
>>146460407>Forced chemistry is not chemistry.Examples of forced chemistry. Everything you're complaining about started way before the current season, why would season 5's writers be relevant?
>>146457053As someone who ships them, the show has plenty of heart. Every episode this last season is of understanding people with struggles and trying to redeem them. There is more heart in the last seasons than in the first ones. These two being so cute is just a bonus.
>>146457053>the relationships, and they butchered themSpoken like someone assblasted his personal ship got sunk.
>>146460881You're very perceptive, anon. Did your teachers tell you that often?
>>146460986Anon says unironically after deploying his schoolyard level taunt.
>>146448315I know there is an urge to ship the next best male protagonist with the next best female protagonist. But no, this would be abusive and toxic and because it's a girl abusing a boy, it's also considered comedy. Boimler (WTF is that name anyway? Was it meant to be Bäumler?) deserves better and Mariner needs a firm hand which Boi is too söi to provide.
>>146453193She most definitely didn't became popular, because she could be a good match for Boimler.
>>146452715>>146453193I'd love to melt her cold, vulcan heart of hers.
>>146453193>>146461346With how much they've seem to set her up to be Tendi's foil, you'd think Rutherford would be in the line, especially during Tendi's departure.
>>146460881It's got to be hard on the shippers that Mariner wasn't the first woman to penetrate Boimler's boi hole.
>>146462316Boimler make the money see, Boimler get the honeys G,
did i just see a fucking hijabin star treklower decks is great but it is ticking off every shitty modern animation trend, right down to the lesbian angst that isn't even about being lesbian but just being committed at all.
>>146462419Just watch Code of Honor until you feel better, /pol/ anon.
>>146462316
>>146463800I mean she just spent an inordinate amount of time yanking bits of a floppy lightning bolt out of a man's asshole with simple forceps. They may name his technique after her, but I can't really see why she'd feel honored.
>>146463990She know someone who would be very interested in learning physiology of Gods.
>>146464066I am curious why they couldn't just isolate and transport the bolt out of his butt. You'd think as an energy construct it would have a unique enough signature to isolate, so I suppose it has some property that makes it resistant to the transporter. I'm curious about the implication. Hell, I'm surprised they were even persistent! I figured they'd just dissipate after awhile. Apparently the Greek Gods operate as a kind of replicator turning energy into (some form of) matter.
>>146448315>If I don't get my (unpopular) ship, the show was just ideological bullshitDamn, glad I'm not you. I've enjoyed the fuck out of this show.
