>>153800287Probably this. I grew up in Russia, and we actually shared this cartoon channel (formerly Fox Kids Europe, but owned by Disney) with Romania. Literally. Half of the commercials were in Russian, and half were in Romanian (with the latter having no voice tracks during broadcast on our side). I never really questioned it as a kid. Although sometimes something fucky would happen and the entire broadcast would change language to Romanian, I guess whenever someone somewhere pressed the wrong button, that was pretty bizarre to see.

>>153817221not for some reason, it was either this during summer, or another shitty marathon of scooby doo / flintstones on cartoon network
>>153818366as an oldfag, I remember that up to circa 1998 (was a small kid backthen), cartoon network was only in og english, and there was a massive celebration, when a polish version finally happened. interestingly enough it concised with the revolution of CN originals like Dexter's lab, Cow and Chicken, Johnny Bravo, and later Courage and etc. But the worst part of watching cartoon network was up to 1994 when there was mostly old boring hanna barbera crap, with the only exception being space ghost coast to coast, and what a cartoon block. I did not understand anything of that, and yet, I could still separate the "cool" from "boring"
>>153821666contrary to popular belief, eastern europe isn't as backwards as the westerners think. sure, we were poorer in the 90s, thanks to russian imperialism, but we were mesmerized by the western pop culture, and it wasn't really that hard to get the western stuff, you just had to be a little more resourceful than in the west, but surprise surprise it also meant that sometimes you got the stuff earlier then in usa or uk, example being manga, and image / marvel / dc comics. I still remember that time when my older cousin had his amalgam Lobo the Duck comic, and I've read about amalgam initiative months later in wizard magazine.

>>153808263No, I once read an interview with Louie where he explained that his dad had good days and bad days, and that for the show he decided to only show the good side of his dad. And that forcing himself to focus on the good memories helped him come to terms with his abusive childhood.
>>153823029The original book 402 is based on was written by a mother and son team of Lithuanians. Since I haven't read the book and highly doubt anyone else has and a lot of these children books that got made into shows are pretty damn obscure, what I wanna know is whether this was some lost in translation thing where the show runners didn't include a fuck ton of lithuania lore or if the writers of the book were bunch of American larpers whose family migrated back in like 1903 and are 3 generations removed from the old country.

I don't know how it was with other euros but in my country it was Fox Kids and Cartoon Network until the early 2000's (and the rise of digital cable) where Cartoon Network went too and Nickelodeon was introduced for normal cable. Fox Kids transformed into Jetix in 2004/2005, for that reason it seems weird to see shows I always saw with a Fox Kids logo to have the Jetix one on it instead.
