Why is Marvel so bad at keeping their books in stock? Pic related, despite being a pretty well regarded and popular run with significant events in it went OOP within the first month. Maybe even sooner. I would understand if it were some obscure D lister but you can't keep Spidey in stock? Or at least print more units? Will the firing of David Gabriel improve things collected edition wise or is it about to get so much worse?
>>153831237Because back when Ike was running things he didn't want to pay the money for extra storage space for TPBs that haven't sold yet, and even after Ike is gone, Marvel doesn't have the money/infrastructure to get it to work
>>153831321They have disney backing. DC can do it.
>>153831550That's what everyone thought after the MCU movies were doing well. But for some reason it never happened. You could argue that it was because Marvel was still operating independently of Disney during the 2010s and still under control of Ike (who'd still reject keeping stuff in stock), but even after Iger forced out Ike in the 2020s it seemed like things got worse.I think it goes back to the rumors about how Marvel is trying to convince Disney that they're making a profit every quarter and they rely on the short-term ways of making a profit (slashing page rates, constant relaunches, lots of variants and incentive variants)
>>153831237I half-suspect Marvel does a Disney Vault thing to create FOMO and ensure sell outs.
>>153831237To me it's infinitely worse that they have epics covering this entire period and the only pieces collected are the times it crosses over with amazing
>>153832155I'd take a run of spectacular epics. I'd prefer it honestly. Ditto for Web. But even epics have the same problem to a somewhat lesser extent.
>>153832155I don't think the Epics have touched any character's sister series yet. It's a real pisser that we had that big chunk of years where everything Punisher was verboten. We could've been done with his entire main series before the Modern cutoff point and moved on to War Journal or War Zone by now.
