The whole ordeal doesn't accomplish anything storywise except conveying to the audience why Jax is like that, and why his friends abstracted. Jax isn't responsible for *every* abstraction so it's not like "defeating" him is justice for everyone else. Typically in screenwriting this kind of story device is called "The Ghost" or "The Wound", that Jax's trauma is the antagonist of the story and is the unseen force responsible for all the hurt in the present time. But that isn't the case here, he just fucked up two people and would've caused at least one more if Pomni hadn't arrived. Because the earlier abstractions don't have full explanations behind them (except for Scratch which is Caine altering his mind too much for the sake of Adventures presumably resulted in some kind of psychotic break) the story feels unresolved, that the unseen antagonist wasn't vanquished.
Thought I'd accidentally stumble upon the leak by this point but haven't actually seen it yet. Anyone got a link?
