Jared Bush is co-writer but that means nothing since he also was on Moana 2 and that was terrible

>Dana Ledoux Miller came onto the series in early 2023 as a consulting writer, having finished writing the live-action remake with Bush, and turned in several revisions for the series. In January 2024, Walt Disney Studios president Alan Bergman "informed the team that they needed to shift rapidly from making a five-episode streaming series to a second Moana feature film." Miller remained attached.

In other words she was a TV writer hired to do a TV show but lucked into a feature gig months before release because higher ups demanded an easy hit and they had no time to replace her (or the songwriters).

However I have zero idea why they kept her around on this one given that she never worked with Disney prior. Perhaps she is sucking Jared's dick.

what if most wrtters call it quit because it was gonna be a shit show from the start, and she's the only one that came to the rescue when they called for external help/

Plausible that this happened around the time of the protagonist swap. Similar circumstances arose with Elio.
