I've been toying around with an idea for a combat system and I'd like to run it past you to see what you think: does it sound stupid, do you think it's interesting? Either way, here it is:>Battles are initiated by bumping into, being bumped into by patrolling enemies or being spotted by guarding enemies>Depending on how the battle started you either lose a turn or gain a turn>For the most part weapons do a lot of damage and a few hits can decide a battle, especially against one or two enemies>Health is low and leveling is done through equipment and collectibles that transform your character>Battlefield is divided into several "zones" which show how much space there is. Backing an enemy into a dead end would lead to 1 zone, while engaging a machine gun nest at the end of a hallway would give you 6 zones>These zones decide how effective weapons are, you won't be able to use a spear effectively in the same zone but if the enemy is 1 zone away then you can prevent them from advancing.>These zones are shown through custom states and sprite changes(mostly minor).Keep in mind that I can't code, but doing something like this seems like a good way to event an interesting combat system that can give rise to some tactical gameplay.
