Ordered my first load of wood chips for a few projects that I have in mind. They are free and the service also delivers them for free. I'd appreciate any project ideas or suggestions.

I am more of a metal person, might order a semi of metal chips. To think woodworking and machinist fags do ghat for a living, what a world to live in
>>
>>2842264
I didn't know one could get a free load of metal chips.
>>
>>2842261
How long did it take before ChipDrop dropped chips for you?
>>
>>2842261

Mulch everything you can possibly mulch with wood chips.

I had a few loads delivered. I put them in my corrals for my cattle to bed down on and to fill in a low spot where there was some standing water. Should break down and make great compost someday.

Nice photoshop anon, I bet the other posters didnt even realize its fake!

We had a pile like this once in a park nearby when I was young, we dug a big tunnel/‘underground hut’ in the pile of wood chips mixed with grass. One day the entire thing caught on fire by itself because of some heat producing bacteria shit. It was pretty cool but probably could have killed all of us

Just finished up my first project: home made USB panels. It's actually very hard to get the lumps out, but the next ones will be flatter for my upcoming shed build.
>>
>>2842597
>home made USB panels.
Awesome. Is that where you plug your phone in to charge?
>>
>>2842522
Oh yeah those chips i got and spread in the corrals were very wet and starting to mold and smelled almost like silage... They could spontaneously combust like that so make sure you don't pile them up too thick around anything flammable until they dry out.

I agree it looks as if it is a shop. Why though? Whats the point of shopping something like this?
>>

Big Wood Chip is trying to make wood chips seem cool and get more people to accept free loads.
>>
>>2842641
Your mom accepts free loads if you get what I'm saying...
>>
>>2842637
Yawn.
>>
>>2842261
OK guys my first problem has surfaced. These chips are somewhat blocking my driveway and my parents are complaining. I need to use them up faster. Any suggestions?
>>
Does not take any courage to order stuff and get it delivered, and it would be wiser to plan ahead as to what you are going to do with it. But the image just looks photoshopped, wtf is this thread really?

Enjoy your soon to be diseased trees. Bet the company you got the chips from won’t cut them down for free.

There's a high chance they're full of human piss and shit.

How can you be sure your chips are not contaminated with cca or oil or any other nasty thing?
>>
>>2842597

I just bought an OSB mouse, for my laptop
>>
>>2842720
I was going to say something serious like inoculate them and grow mushrooms, but this is a very silly place
>>
>>2842658
Fill a shopping bag and walk around your neighborhood slowly dropping off handfuls. Do this multiple times until the driveway is clear enough to satisfy your parents.
>>
>>2842925
>How can you be sure your chips are not contaminated with cca or oil or any other nasty thing?
I the oil contamination was enough to matter you would have a pile of soaked oily chips and it would be obvious. Most all these chips are from tree trimming companies that work for the local power companies trimming branches back from the electrical lines. Not just random roadside scraps of wood gathered up and chipped.
>>
>>2842935
>Fill a shopping bag
You're going to need a bigger bag.

This approach just caused a huge problem: I dumped two large 50-gallon bags of chips in an abandoned ditch. Some nosey neighbor called the County and they made me clean it out and said that it is illegal to dump wood chips anywhere.
>>
>We tried to save some money by using chip drop instead of buying bags of mulch from Lowe's. It's far more mulch than we expected and neither of us can be our car out of the driveway to go to work. The HOA says it must be gone by 5PM Friday or they'll fine us. Anyone who wants free mulch come get as much as you want. We need it all gone ASAP!

I've had 2 chip drops
One took a week and the second took 2.5 months
I got a third by flagging down the power company contractor cutting down pines across the street and telling them where they can dump it (I was on the wait list for a chip drop but they don't use it apparently)

Pack it in a tank. Heat in. Collect wood gas?
Heat more. Made activated charcoal?
Or leave out and cover up once moist. Let the rotting generate heat.
Many grass fires have started from clippings left to rot until the heat and volatile gases caught fire.

>>2842261
>orders a 2m high mount of wood chips
>has no idea what to do with any of it
classic
also you should spray it with water, its going to get very hot inside and could self combust.
>>

Saw a guy on youtube put piping through a compost pile to collect heat off of it in the winter time...
>>
>>2842935
>walk around your neighborhood slowly dropping off handfuls
This worked but it took about three weeks to get the pile small enough.

Small weak hands typed this...
>>
>>2842261
why did you shop this
>>
>>2843216
>just use a stock image
That would draw complaints from the wood chips police.
>>
>>2850992
OK, new issue: some of my neighbors are complaining that I dropped wood chips on their front yards, which is true, but not enough to cause damage. Do I admit it and clean them up, or deny it and tell them to fuck-off?
>>
i signed up for chip drop...i get a chip drop, mix my garbage in, then drop it somewhere else.
>>
>>2842658
You just ordered a mountain of wood compost to your parents' house in the suburbs? Based.
>>
>>2852591
Obviously you blame it on squirrels and birds. Its winter nesting season.
>>
>>2852863
Tried this, but they say that it's my fault because I introduced the chip pile to the neighborhood.
