>>2846068My brother got me a set of knipexs and they are unironically really good.
anything with battery
>>2846068it's not even about the brand. it's about collecting tools like funko pops and posting pictures of them which reveals that they're in pristine condition, clearly never used for any sort of work.
>>2846200>My brother got me a set of knipexs and they are unironically really good.Cobras are good pliers, but they are not the best water pump pliers knipex makes, just the most expensive ones.So if you see someone with cobras 9 out of 10 times it's because they saw some social media sojack promoting them.
Pliers wrench.
>>2846208I didn't even know they we're a popular tool, I was like, cool thanks bro. Now I feel bad
Mods, its about time to nuke the board again...
>>2846208what are the better ones?and I hope your not claiming alligators are better than cobras
>>2846199+1Got the father in-law one of these and the clip for the ratchet and little rubber flap for the driver handle broke off with moderate use pretty quickly which made the whole gimmick of a $90 compact ratchet set completely useless.>>2846215Anon sounds retarded, maybe he claims their dykes or cobolts are better but they’re totally different tools.I still want to try the quick adjust Cobras because that’s the one feature or the Irwin knockoffs that is better than the original. I think they’re only in one size though.
>>2846211Who cares, just use the pliers, they are good.>>2846215>I hope your not claiming alligators are better than cobrasgators have a much better UI than cobras, so yes they are better when you actually have to work with them for more than one fitting
>>2846208le contrarian redditor post
>>2846227stuck in the past old manmight as well use some channel locks and a monkey wrench at that point
>>2846208>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THEY LIKE THE THING FOR THE WRONG REASONS
>>2846227>Who cares, just use the pliers, they are good.This. I dunno why everyone spergs out about pliers so much... The knipex cobras are pretty good. Got myself some of the pliers wrenches and they are pretty good. Got some Malco eagle grips, they are nice. None of it is really as life altering as you all claim it is though... Snap-on tools are nice. I have some. Not going to throw out all my other tools and replace everything that is working perfectly fine just because some name-faggot on a diy board said so though. TLDR, anyone who shills stuff this hard and namefags is a do-nothing faggot.
>>2846241Oh I don't care they are le reddit, I care he spent a lot more money than I thought and my response was probably less excited than he expected.
>>2846227>>2846235The adjustment mechanism of the alligators is way better than the old school Channellock groove, but I don’t find the push button Cobras that much easier than the Alligators, especially if you’re a mil-boomer like me who grew up with channies. The Irwin ratcheting is way faster than all of em tho.
>>2846261Oh can I be one of the kool kids now?
>>2846071gay retardso reddit that they are standard around here, same for knipex stuff
>>2846068oh look its another ‘post (le bad tool)’ thread. Very interesting.
>>2846263>no Klein by NWS water pump pliersThe newer USA made ones don’t look as nice as the older German made Kleins
Just ordered this baby because of my reddit coworker who doesn't actually use reddit. He said it was awesome
>>2846241The only pliers that really matter enough to deliberately seek out are pre Irwin ,Peterson vise grips.
>>2846235Just bite it like a neanderthal,>>2846236nice self own>>2846241kek shit bits, gotta have a box of themPliers wrenches I like the button thing on>no gritty poop mud to get stuck in>more gradual adjustmentI got the 125 for brake lines and 300 for HVAC>>2846261Yeah channelocks are annoying, gotta open them all the way up and than dick around finding the right groveJaws are also nowhere near as sharp and hard as knipex so they don't grip pipes as well>>2846301my old man has the nws ones, bretty good, he's too fat to bend down and open a valve with them so I had to do that >is picrel any good or just a meme?
>>2846331After about 2 years those knipexes pump pliers are done. Have them in the work tool box and I am not happy at all with them. When we rebuy for the tool chests I am going to suggest new pliers.
>>2846332The jaws are going to get worn on any channies with some use, and very much depends on what you’re grabbing. But people love the Knipex because the teeth hold up better than most.
>>2846334I wonder if Trump uses the Knipexes to grab pussy
>>2846331>kek shit bits, gotta have a box of themOh yeah. It's my go to for drilling and covers most use cases. Bonus is if I break one I honestly don't give a flying fuck. Into the trash it goes and I grab another one out. Zero fucks given. If it is something that needs a precise hole of a specific size then then I grab a proper bit. I buy 1/8 and 1/4" cobalt bits in bulk for pilot drilling. For general fab, step bits get used quite often to open the holes up to final size.
>>2846129you sound jelly anon. perhaps one day you'll be able to afford tool chests and other organizational aides
>>2846334It isn't nearly every day usage on them. We are talking 4-5 uses a week on them and they shit the bed in two years. Under 500 grabs of various nuts, bolts and pipes. Trash. The Alligators have nowhere near the same level of wear and we have a couple of pairs that have nearly 10 years on them and still grip tighter than the Cobras. I suspect Knipex has made cost reductions in more recent times.
>>2846477Its the same tool. Aligators are less likely to clog up in mud, thats the only reason they are still made
>reddit toolsi see a disturbing lack of reddit tools on this thread so far
>>2846345He seems like an Eagle Grip man.>>2846367I am in no way jealous of your apartmrnt in Chicago and chest of unused collectibles. I got out of Crook County for a reason. These days I deal with salt spray from the ocean instead of the road.

>>2846110These are great to keep in the car. I also have an impact wrench, steel toe boots, towels, and a wooden board in case i need to change a tire so i can put my scissor jack on top of it.

>>2846068These are great for reaching washing machine hook ups in cramped laundry closets. Never used them otherwise though. Any tips on how not to scratch the fuck out of anything you grip with them?
>>2846689>t. soiren mc limpwrist
>>2846694Put tape on them. I use needle pliars for pulling wires and the tape trick really helps to not fuck them up.
>>2846694being a good goy and forking over additional sheckels
>>2846720Should've bought the 2-pack or the 3-pack. The one with the cobra, wrench, and diagonal cutter can still be found for a little more than pre-inflation prices if you look around.
>>2846694>>2846720Or spend even more and get the plastic jaw pliers plus the plastic covers for your Pliers Wrench and Cobras!I think the Cobra jaw protectors on Amazon are some third party crap but Knipex actually makes them for the pliers wrench.

>>2846110How else am I supposed to start my ferd while drunk off my ass hobbling around on one leg?
>>2846689I use one of these for oil filters, works well enough. A shot of brake clean first so it doesn't slip if there is grim on it.
>>2846853>How else am I supposed to start my ferd while drunk off my ass hobbling around on one leg?Holy fucking based!
>>2846864>A shot of brake clean first so it doesn't slip if there is grim on it.How grim we talkin?
>>2846877Depends, some days are worse than others.
>>2846834BUY AN AD
3D Printers, you can make anything you wanted to with a vacuum forming machine (which can be DIYed), a hot wire cutter (which can be DIYed) and a resin casting set (which are cheap enough if you know where to look). No CAD bullshit necessary too.
>>2847014just wood carve and sand cast
>>2846199These things are so fucking gay and useless
>>2846128Are those the things Paltrow shills on goop? Stick it in your vagina and clamp down on it to make it tighter
>>2846729It’s a fuckkng Cuck cage for their pliers now too?
>>2846330Vise grips are great if you buy that thing where you attach a slide hammer weight to then
>>2847028This too, I was thinking about things like making gears by have with resin, plastic covers/trays with a vacuum former, but wood is even better than a how wide cutter and foam/plastic.
>>2846068Cat > knipex And cat is an iykyk brand of tools that harbor freight and Home Depot fuckheads won’t understand how to obtain or research which ones are the good ones
>>2846316I've had a Bulldog for years. One of those tools that's so fun to use you wish there was more shit to destroy.
>>2846729In aviation we use a very similar plier with those plastic inserts for connectors.I mean tEcHnIcAlLy you could use Cobras/Alligators/Channelloks or whatever but then you tend to fuck up the connectors outside grooving.Simply frowned upon.HOWEVER if those damn plastic inserts could last longer than half a LEAP engine's worth of electrical harnesses I would be REALLY grateful.
How boring and mundane is your pathetic life that you must s0iface over a brand of tools? I'm so glad I have a BEd and MBA and am not doomed to an inconsequential life of mediocrity like you blue collar tradescucks.
>>2847079What are the electronics on those new turbofans like compared to like 90s era engines? Double the amount? Worse?>>2847055Just because your Snap-On branded Eagle Grips cost 2.5x as much as Malco doesn’t mean they’re 2.5x better.
>>2847155It’s not about cost it’s about quality, I really hate channellock as a brand it’s low tier Knipex just feels like channellock without the cost cutting measures
>>2847155I hate to back him up but the Cat stuff actually is a pretty crazy deal, a lot of it is straight up Snap-On for a fraction of the price, like their screwdrivers are instantly recognizable as the classic Snap-On hard handles and a 6 piece set of the Cat branded ones is $56, while the Snap-On branded versions are $30+ EACH.
>>2847177Yea Williams is straight too. Go through your authorized Cat dealer and you can buy a couple select decent tools for non- rape van prices. People heard about this 5 minutes ago and sperg out like it’s the second coming of Jesus.Or you can go on Amazon and buy Knipex or Klein or whatever for normal retail prices without the rape van pricing
>>2847178Pretty much what I've always done. I'm tempted by the screwdrivers though, I've always liked the old-school Snap-On shape and how easy they are to clean.
>>2846070
>>2847178I don’t understand the snap on hate, snap-on makes the best slip joint general position plier and it’s only $30 But you’ll spend $65 on the knipex which Carrie’s virtually no warranty mind you and say shit like “just because it’s expensive it’s not better”
>>2846689basedbot my strength is waning
>>2847191The push button Knipex equivalent is $31 on Amazon. I'm not a Snap-On hater, I totally get the value of them if you work at a shop that gets a truck regularly, but they're a much worse proposition if you don't. The Cat stuff is nice but it can be hard to get depending on your local dealers' policies.
>>2847191Everything you said is less than true. You can’t easily buy those Cat pliers unless you’re already buying stuff through a diesel shop. It will probably end up being more than $40 based on the rest of the bullshit in this post because diesel shops will charge Grainger prices to your company’s account. Also the Knipex is easily available on Amazon or other retailers and is about $30-$35.Also you’re not going to warranty those “$30” CAT pliers like you can exchange stuff on the rape van with the $70 pliers. Is your diesel parts supply house going to fight with CAT to get you a new pair of pliers when the guy standing behind you is trying to buy $7k worth of parts? So what’s the point of that bullshit argument?Yea, grab a set of the CAT sockets for cheap if you ever get a chance. Or just go buy Williams on Amazon, warranties will be easier. Also this >>2847201
>>2847204I told you I just started buying tools again for the first time like in October right? If CAT tools are so hard to get, can you explain why I have about 200 chrome sockets in my tool box that are all stamped CAT ? Sitting next to the snnap on stuff I got later If you walk into a snap-on truck right now, and you go hey I got $30 give me those pliers you guys sell so much of … guess what… you get the pliers… You don’t need a special account or know a guy who knows a guy who is currently on his second mortgage on an epic box…I don’t know if you know this but caterpillar waiting rooms are niiiiice Their main clientele are millionaire developers and farmers… they gave me a Perrier and let me sit on a vintage caterpillar bulldozer from the turn of the century in their show room while they were waiting to pull my $30 pliers from the warehouse Calling me sir and all that shit, using my first name harbor freight prices with Aston Martin service Yeah I’m not saying order a $90,000 bulldozer blade from them but they’re good shit
>>2847201You can warranty cat stuff easy just go ask them hey man I broke this, or talk to snap-on industrial You also don’t need a special license or anything to rent a bulldozer I asked them… I was like what do you need to rent one of these? And they were like … money…same thing for those big ass dump trucks
>>2847212>You also don’t need a special license or anything to rent a bulldozerWhy rent when you can own. You're not a poorfag are you?
>>2847257>why rent when you can buy a bulldozer Because I don’t own a piece of land and have any disputes over it with the small town
>>2847204>You can’t easily buy those Cat pliers unless you’re already buying stuff through a diesel shop.Apparently SOME Cat dealers will just sell them to you over the counter, but it's definitely not standard. They're also not listed on Cat's site anymore and you have to go through the catalog and figure out the part numbers and have the dealer order them. I did find one dealer that does have an online catalog that looks like you can just order them, though, and they're really well-priced, but I'm not sure if you'll hit a roadblock where you need a business account with them or something if you actually try to do it, or whether they'll ship. Sieg may live near one of the dealers that's actually cool about it, unfortunately I live in LA where everybody's an asshole and we somehow don't have tons of shit that 200k cities in the Midwest do.
>>2847266>I don’t own a piece of landCertified poor.
>>2847272Is there a market for reselling this stuff? Would dudes hand me $5-10 above MSRP to go grab this shot for them?
>>2847292Get some of the socket sets and put them on ebay for $100 over what you paid because it’s still way less than snappy.Other people have seen the same Youtube vids and reddit threads on the CAT tools as you.
>>2846853>hobbling around on one legpegs wood leg got stolen by one of justo's pet negroes
>>2847390I first heard about it in 2023 and my receipt says first tool from cat was 2024 January…
>>2847470Nice blog. How do I unsubscribe?
>>2847292>>2847390Replying to yourself now? Everyone knows all tripfags are just you.
>>2847484You’re learning!
>>2846068I happened to go to IKEA the other day, which was the same day that my first ever pair of Knipex showed up. Why does nobody ever point out that they both use the same font on their stuff? Anyway I like the Cobras and think they're worth every penny of the $37 I paid for them on Amazon but they're definitely not the forged in valhalla shit people make them out to be, yeah they're way nicer than a $20 pair of Channelocks but they're still mostly unfinished castings and have way more slop in them than I expected. Also it bothers me that the grip material stops so low on the one handle, unless you've got the jaws almost maxed out you've got a finger or two on bare metal instead of the rubbery stuff.
>>2846110This 100%, any kind of multi tool and especially the pliers-type are pure distilled reddit LARP.
