What a bunch of jews. 1972 and they pour a floor with NO rebar and at best 3" thick. Fucking stupid.

It's not like a car is going to drive on it.
>>

>NO rebar
That's a good thing
>>
>>2956898
It's cracked to hell because the foundation settled. They also used only a couple inches of sand instead of gravel or rock. Probably didn't even try to compact it either based on all the voids. Lazy shit.

50 year old concrete floor, still fine if it has a top floor over it, easy to cut when needed, nothing to worry about

Based on all the oy veys

just don't even have a basement, make a house on 4 foot stilts and be comfy. Fuck the HOA
>>
>>2956894
why do you think houses were so cheap back then?
>>
>>2956894
It's pretty normal for a first floor - they pur a framework ring with rebar, fill in the hole with rocks and level the whole slab with about 3-4 cm of semi-dry concrete mix.
>>
>>2956894
wow... im guessing who poured it also owns a foundation repair company....
>>
>>2956894
That’s bretty bad.
Should have a vapor barrier and be a bit thicker over gravel. Not soil.
On the plus side, when you re-do it, you can make it better now that the ground has settled.

Demolition continues. No rebar encountered. The thing I thought was going to be an actual footing with he main load bearing wall of the house is actually just a concrete curb poured on medium density fill. Should be fun.

It's called a rat slab
You'd need a vapor barrier over it for most flooring anyway. It's just there to keep critters out
>>
>>2959616
that's on the to do list. ill be doing 2 big pours of around 600 sq ft each and 4 inches thick. with rebar this time. 4 inches of gravel for the radon mitigation, we tested over 9 parts per whatever. and since im pour new concrete I am just going to tie some pex pipe to the rebar incase we decide we want radiant heat later. re doing the sewer as well of course.

funny you mention rodents, I did find a pile of ripped up plastic bags under the slab and the bags are way way newer than the slab.

> jews
Have you seen how much concrete the jews use half of Israeli is concrete
>>
>>2956894
It made it just fine until you cut into it

I'm replacing the sewer and adding radon mitigation so it wasn't fine. My temporary live is in now. I just need to build a footing for for a load bearing wall and I'll be ready to tear out 1/2 the slab.
>>
>>2956894
yeah, that's fucking bad.
but speaking of shit construction, have you seen some of the new abominations that jeets are "building"?
>>
>>2959648
Well, it’s probably more bomb resistant than osb.
>>
>>2959620
If you're doing radiant, you need like 4" of insulation under it or it'll worthless
