>>18250302L'homme Ideal is just modern slop, so it's good that it's not to your taste. I haven't tried Vetiver so can't comment on it, but I love Habit Rouge. I can see why someone wouldn't like it though, it could be perceived as old-fashioned & its powdery floral aspects may not be for everyone. 30 years old male. Haven't been to /fa/ since I was 17. Looking for recs for a first time in relative serious consideration of a fragrance. I intend to wear the fragrance year round since I don't currently have any other fragrances. I suppose since we're going into fall/winter that might be where I start out. I don't really have an ideal price range. I suppose under 300 dollars for a bottle. I don't really have a scent I'm looking for as I'm new to cologne and have basically just bought whatever was at Walmart. I currently use Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue and I have no opinions on it. It basically just smells like generic cologne. I will mostly be wearing it at my job in an air conditioned manufacturing setting high airflow, temperature between 62 and 75 degrees.I'm not opposed to "gourmand" fragrances. I enjoy vanilla notes and I'm not particularly looking to project a masculine aura. I just want to smell nice and not be overpowering.I'm from /ck/ so here's an image. Is fragrance good for you?
>>18251279>Fresh green citrus, buy Mugler Cologne instead.Hasn't that been discontinued?

>>18251342Do you only want one fragrance? I'm a bit new to it too, but from what I can tell is you can sort of follow the seasons. Have a Spring/Summer scent and an Autumn/Winter scent. Maybe that doesn't appeal to you, but I like the idea of it being seasonal. I would suggest you look at which brands appeal to you, I like the more "classic" French brands, but that's because I like to larp as a 1950-1960's business man. Dior, Chanel, Creed, Hermes, Guerlain, and Acqua Di Parma, and to an extent, Tom Ford are all popular brands

I want to smell like green apples for several hours and not just for ten minutes before the top notes evaporate. Is there such a thing as fruity or green base notes? Or is it just impossible to make those notes last through dry down?

How is Frederic Malle in general?
What is a good women's fragrance? Find all men's fragrances smell like blue sports shampoo.Liked that one Ariana Grande shampoo but it's too expensive.Yes, I am a tranny.
Do any of you really wear ELDO? I liked Fat Electrician and YOSLY but I'm not sure I'd wear them. Rien II was a solid 'no' for me.
>>18252554i do>YOSLY>Remarkable People>Rienall part of my semi-regular rotation

>>18252554I love Fat Electrician, I think it's perfectly wearableHermann and Exit the King I would wear tooRien is one I kind of like, but wouldn't want to wear
>>18252516Overpriced. Not a bad brand, but the pricepoints are just overdoing it. Especially with shit like the oud collection.
>>18252562this is the one frag where the flankers are much more wearable and better
>>18252529For some reason all women's perfumes just smell the same, like flowers and candy store.Weirdly despite being a much smaller market, mens fragrances are a lot more interesting with a lot more variety. My mum wears Marc Jacob's Daisy Dream and I got given a sample of J'ador L'or recently which I thought smelled nice. It had a fizzy sherbet smell to it, and reminded me of a candy here in bongland called Love Hearts.
>>18252573They are all great, I use all three of them for different occasions.
>>18252558>>18252568I'd be down to try regular Rien, but the Intense Incense was not for me at all. Maybe it'll grow on me who knows. Just sprayed FE again, it's more pleasant than I remember. Reviews of this stuff online are totally histrionic. I've worked in a few fuse boxes/service panels in my time and I don't really get the comparison.
>>18252529ShalimarMitsoukoPoisonNo 19from modern stuff I like La Panthere and the new Barenia from Hermes is pretty good too. but most modern women's fragrances are horrid candyblob garbage, so best steer clear
>>18252605it's really not that hardcore, just a gourmand with myrrh and some smoky-nutty vetiverI think people are just getting filtered by the name and marketing blurb
What’s the best Montale rose and oud fragrance out of their selection?
Alright I tried gamer girl pee, the citrus is totally styled on DHS. I actually quite like the lemon/musk combo, but I don't really get Aventus from it at all. I would definitely consider Energy as a poor man's alternative to DHS or DH Cologne.
I really like Carved oud by thameen (tom ford oud wood but slightly spicy) but im allergic to it (sinus headache), cannabis by malin goetz im not allergic to but its not the right fit for me, I really like black afgano but again it gives me sinus headaches i think its the flower based materials (violet jasmine etc). I use to wear hwyl by aesop never had an issue with that liked it but I didnt like its performance.Decants ive bought and dont vibe w:lalique - encre noirlalique encre noir extremeorto parisi - viride (i like but too green not dark enoughzoologist - musk deertom ford - tobacco vanilletom ford - tobacco oudT kosomala - apres l'amour no.4maison crivelle - absinth borealeive smelt a load of normal stuff in harrods/selfridgesAny recs for woody/incense/amber perfumes?

is it worth it?
>>18252642I should add I compared it (Energy) to Orion, now that's a solid Aventus clone.

sotd guerlain mouchoir de monsieur>>18252642i tried it today too, the opening was nice but the bass was absolute slop>>18252657no
>>18252657take out a loan, buy the full bottles blindly (the whole range), do the same with the exclusive ranges of chanel and guerlain, piss away your children's college money on perfume, lose your overly benevolent wife, move to a bachelor's pad on the outskirts of town, smoke weed and sniff perfume bottles to suppress the feeling of failure.
>>18252554>Do any of you really wear ELDO? Yeah> I liked Fat Electrician and YOSLY but I'm not sure I'd wear themI wouldn't wear these either because they suck> Rien II was a solid 'no' for me.Good. Don't wear the good shit, leave that to the cool chaps like me.
>>18252790For sure, what else would I hate?
>>18252554>>18252605I only have Rien II and Marquis de Sade, I absolutely love the latter even though I find it a tad bit too faint, however I'm still not sure how I feel about the former. Rien was a blind buy as I got a ridiculously good price for it on a discounter but it's the first time my expectations of a fragrance were so incredibly off (seriously, I don't even know what exactly I expected but it was literally nothing like it). I admire just how powerful and loud of a fragrance it is, and I really enjoy the scent after the first couple of hours, however upon initially spraying it, I cannot help but feel like I've stepped into a piss-drenched underpass turned into a BDSM sex dungeon somewhere in Baghdad. It's just such a ridiculous fragrance, and this straight up filthy smell carries on for hours - many hours - and projects across miles. Once the fecal/pissy accords subside and the chemical/metallic/industrial notes take over, it's absolutely amazing though.
i get 0 b.o./piss from rien
Ok, I have changed my mind about TDH. I wore it in high heat so that was my error, the slightly sour orange rindness and earthy notes don't come off as pleasant in +30(88) degree weather. It works best in cooler weather and is very nice. I finally get the vetiver note. Definitely not slop. That said what are some fragrances similar to it, looking for that middle ground of uplifting citrus and vetiver.Might blind buy the tres fraiche because Robes08 said it was done really well and the perfumer is a master with aquatic notes which it has.
>>18252445I did and it just smells like musk and cedar after an hour
I'm looking for some incense woodsy frag and ended up sampling some CDG. Really liked Kyoto, Hinoki and Avignon but performance kinda feels like shit for the pricepoint. Any recs for something similar with better performance?
>>18252827Maybe good old Guerlain Vetiver? I find that one better in hot weather. With TdH the spices and resins come out too much when it's hot, it's better autumn to spring
>>18252840Rien Intense Incense will destroy you
>>18252827Acqua Di Parma Intensa for a smoother vetiver/citrus blendBulgari Terrae Essence for a brighter less earthy vetiver / citrus mix.
>>18252761Depends on the fragrance really. The concentration is not the only factor which can affect overall quality.Chanel Platinum Egoiste is only EdT concentration but three or four sprays is all I need and will project for a good 6 hours or more.Kenzo Homme EDP has great longevity, but I still need like 10-12 sprays to get the same projection that I get from the Chanel.
ive fucking had it. i keep trying to experiment with different scents and not keep to what i like. but i cant take it anymore and my wallet cant either. fucking youtube shills and fuck you
>>18252899pic related is pure fucking garbage. literally smells like a black guy who tries too hard. does this shit have amber? because i swear it does and i hate amber
What's the best from YSL?
>>18252855People always recommend this, but I'm afraid of the "old man smell". >>18252867Intensa is good, I think it's TDH edges it because of how it changes. Will have to try the Bulgari
>>18252945>but I'm afraid of the "old man smell".youth ends at 21, if you're older than that, you've got nothing to fear
>>18252945Guerlain Vetiver doesn't smell like an 'old man smell' to me. Sure, it's a classic mature fragrance, not like the modern sweet things most young men wear today, but it's also not a stuffy musky old man smell like maybe CK Obsession. It's pretty fresh and light. Actually I think it's a bit boring and safe personally, but definitely not an 'old man smell'.
Whats the point of a "fragrance collection"? Just have one scent that everyone knows you by, maybe another one if your fav doesnt work in the summer.
>>18252910LNDL edt is the best, myslf and Y are also solid though and are loved by women (which is the only reason you need a fragrance)
>>18252968that's one way of looking at it
>>18252411I don’t have the nose to differentiate a green apple from other varieties, but Apple Tabac by Pineward literally smells like an apple orchard, give it a shot. >>18252516Over priced. >>18252529Secretions Magnifiques will fit you perfectly. >>18252554>SotD: Ghost in the ShellPossibly the best performing warm weather frag that also doubles as being a non-citrus choice.
>>18252644The Comme de Garcons incense line should be mandatory testing if you’re interested in incense frags. You could look at Pineward as well since you seem open to niche, but nothing jumps to mind by him, he has more woody/smoky, not quite incense. >>18252827Most agree that Eau Givree is better for higher heat than standard TdH. Also, I wouldn’t call Tres Fraiche aquatic, or even really having aquatic notes, it’s a more floral take on TdH to my nose. Regardless, not for me because floral, but the Gay Dragon also likes it so give it a shot. Mind you, Tres Fraiche is discontinued, so be careful falling in love with something that’s not being made anymore. >>18252968What’s the point of eating a wide variety of foods with many different flavors and textures. Just eat the bare minimum number of calories you need containing only the necessary vitamins and nutrients.
>>18252968It might come as a surprise to an autist like you but some people like variety and smelling different things.
>>18252968I wouldn't say I have a collection, but I like to have 5 or 6 fragrances at any one time. There's a couple which I always keep and have used for years. Then there's 3 or 4 which are either seasonal faves, or just one offs that I have bought, will use up, and not buy again. It's nice to have a variety that fits the weather, the situation, or just my mood or outfit.
>>18252968I think they're fun to "collect" and they let me larp more effectively
>>18252790Fat Electrician's longevity was like 1 hour on my skin. But YOSLY lasted the entire day for me. YOSLY leans feminine to my nose, so I'm reluctant to wear it, but it smells real nice to me.
I was trying out a bunch of different Amouages, so I got a bunch of decants.I immediately hated Interlude Black Iris and Royal Tobacco immediately because the woody/smoky scents overpowered everything. I waited like 2 months, and those overpowering smoky scents are completely gone and it actually smells pleasant to me now. Is this maceration happening in real time or did my nose just get used to the parts I hated?
