Taking recs from obvious marketeers without a grain of salt is unwise. I expect a lot of it has to do with me just being the wrong generation, but I don’t understand just sitting around willingly watching an infomercial.

Twitch streaming is already a bit of a stretch, but I guess I can see a little bit of the entertainment in watching someone else do something enjoyable, but literally just watching someone advertise a product to you… for extended periods of time no less, I have better things to do with my time.
>>
>>18253438
Oh boy, just wait until you learn about QVC and other infomerical channels that were really popular. Unless the "le wrong generation" you miss is from over 100 years ago

I blind bought Spicebomb Extreme because she said it was her favourite fragrance of all time, only to fucking hate it.

She's still a total 10/10 though.
>>

I never smelled Habit Rouge Dress Code, but it seems to have been really well received and people say HR Parfum is essentially a rerelease of that one. I can confirm none of this, and the fragrance community has often baffled me with these kinds of comparisons. For all I know, they may not be remotely similar.

I really like Guerlain Vetiver in general and I want to try the Parfum variant, but I have really bad luck with gin fragrances. I think it's one of those genetic things where cilantro tastes like soap to a small segment of the population. YSL Y comes across as unwearable to me because of the gin note. This isn't an elitist sentiment, I enjoy plenty of fragrances fragcom considers basic, but to me the Y line smells like people are fucking with me. Like they're wearing ammonia and pretending to like it.

Tywin would be a Floris guy. He's much too dignified to wear something flashy/bombastic/annoying, and values legacy above all else. Floris is a family owned brand with more than three centuries of verifiable ties to the royal family. It is the de facto scent of the British aristocracy and was one of the first companies granted a royal warrant by King Charles upon his coronation, and was endorsed by his mother and multiple English sovereigns before him. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Charles Dance actually wears it irl.

>>
>>18253855
Accurate. For my nose the original, extreme, and sport each lose everything but their base notes after 30 minutes (AKA lose everything except vetiveryl acetate, which smells terrible).

Ombré actually keeps evolving up until ~4H when it finally hits its base of vetiveryl acetate, so it’s not bad. I set the bar higher then 4H for my frags, and the base HAS to smell better than the Noires do, but when comparing internally it’s way above the 3 main line.

Haven’t sniffed the Indigo yet, but I have a sample so I’ll get around to it eventually.

>>18253968
Fuck I miss fall and winter weather, it’s so much better for my taste in frags. Dailying Iron Duke, mix in some ACDD, Burning Barbershop, Acrasia, Sturbridge. Even the stuff that isn’t as cool weather centric is better imo, TdH, Mousse Illuminee, Fahrenheit.

It will have some ups and downs, but it will be a net move down. Most of the best natural compounds get banned or removed from usage due to sustainability issues. This is slightly counterbalanced by the discovery of new aroma chemicals, but things are leaving the design space faster than aroma chemicals are being brought in, and what *is* being brought in doesn’t really equate or even much offset what is (was) lost.

It's nice, I have it, but it has no longevity/performance on skin, it does last on clothes though. I do think it has a bit of an older man smell, maybe best for like age 40+ imo. It's a sophisticated dad fragrance, but not a grandad fragrance, if you get what I mean. Thought it would be the perfect fragrance for a teacher for some reason.

Opinion on Versace?
Personally, they're not my cup of tea, but I think their most popular fragrances are really valid when compared to others that fill the same niche. They basically sell unusually affordable high-quality frags. Perhaps the only downside is that they're not that unique.

>Putting aside any comparisons to Vetiver EDT, is this a good release on its own? Anybody here tried it?

I tried it. I had zero expectations so I'm not disappointed.

The scent is basically exactly like Guerlain's Vetiver, just slightly sweeter, slightly boozier and with a toned-down tobacco note. (Not that the tobacco in the EdT's current formulation is all that noticeable anyway.) Only if you smell them side by side, can you really tell the difference.
People who say the EdT smells too old-fashioned say the same thing about the Parfum.

Performance is also identical to the EdT.* Both last about 8 hours on skin, well over 24 hours on clothes, neither projects particularly far.

*Insert long rant about how EdP, Pure Parfum, Extreme, Intense, etc literally mean nothing anymore in terms of actual concentration and they're just marketing terms to sell to men who want BeAsT mOdE!!! performance.

One thing i realise with Fierce is that's a fucking Iso e loaded scent.
The drydown is mostly musks, pencil shavings and fresh spice. Montblanc Legend are nowhere near it. Percival is a complete different scent.
>>
Should I buy Fierce from a Hong Kong seller on eBay?
>>
>>18256085

>>
>>18256024
Maybe for you. It lasts forever on me, or maybe I'm just really aware of the scent and don't go anosmic to it.
Scent longevity varies from person to person anyway based on their skin chemistry.

But the broader point was that the performance between original Vetiver EdT and the new Vetiver Parfum is identical. If one only lasts four hours, the other probably won't last much longer.
>>
>>18256064
it's not a clone imo, it mixes in elements from other citrus-forward scents like DHS and Light Blue. I don't think you'll fool any Aventus fans with Energy, but it's still solid.

I can attest to this. I love the original and wear it regularly. The Parfum is a little different, mostly just sweeter, but the longevity is unchanged from the EdT. Super disappointing if anone went in expecting a long-lasting Vetiver.

Two sprays in the upper chest area and one shared between the wrists lasts about six to eight hours, depending on the weather. After that it's a skin scent but I can still pick it up for another four hours or so if I put my nose right against my wrist.

Got a bottle of Lagerfeld Classic because it was basically as cheap to order it and get free delivery than to pay delivery costs for the rest of my order. I’m probably not supposed to like this, a cheap sleazecore scent that has probably been reformulated to hell and back, but it’s strangely enticing for what it is.
