Simple guide to watch buying:

>Do you want to buy a watch?
If no, then don't. If yes, then:
>Do you like a particular watch?
If no, then don't buy it. If yes, then:
>Can you afford that watch?
If no, then don't buy it. If yes, then:
>Buy watch.

It is literally that simple.

For the price, is right. Obviously, if you're only used to Omega and Seiko, then the finishing on a Moser will be outstanding. There's also the matter of the different levels of finishing. Moser, like Patek and others, doesn't put as much effort into their entry level models as they do on their high end models.

Your basic three-hand Endeavour or Pioneer will be finished about as well as a Blancpain or JLC. Once you get up into the tourbillons and calendars, then the finishing becomes worthy of the price.

Foughts on Montblanc watches? They seem to be relatively affordable and some of them look pretty good. Might consider getting one if I get a bonus.

You categorically need to go see them in person.
Their dials can range from surprisingly good looking for the price (the 1858 dials are extremely crisp and well printed) to terrible and obviously pressed-on (the geosphere, the glacier dials and most of their pretend-guilloche, it's especially bad on the earlier Rieussec)
They're okay for the most part. Their monopusher chronos with newly-built Minerva movements are cool.

Rolex is entirely fueled by larping boomers and the OP smiply doesn't have enough larp cred
>Submariner
boomers larping as Sean Connery or pretending to be real divers (when Tudors, Blancpain/Squale, pre-revival Panerai were the watches typically issued to military and police divers and they were all ditched the second digital diving computers became available)
>Daytona
boomers larping as Paul Newman (they may or may not know who he is aside from "the guy who had a Daytona model named after him" and may have worked backwards from here)
>Explorer
boomers larping as Ian Flemming and repeating to everyone that it's "the watch that climbed Everest" (even though several different ones did it before)

not so much the territory of boomers, but moreso millenials larping as Tony Soprano

Black is great, probably even the best because of its high contrast making it easy to read and it goes with everything, but that's what makes it such an uninspired choice. It's both very safe and easy to end up buying 20 black dial watches that to everyone who isn't a watch dork look exactly identical. That's not for their watches, but their shitty leathergoods and other apparel that's not watches or pens or ink.
Why would you buy leathergoods or watches from a stationery brand?
I was given a mb wallet 20 years ago and it held up real well until I lost it. Same person gifted me a modern one and it started falling apart in a year.
Shitty fucking migrant workers and cost cutting materials ffs
Their pens are also worse than they were in the 90's too.

There are none; the numerical day wheel is programmed for the correct days of the month as well as leap years, so once you set it up, you never have to change the day unless the watch stops. It's awesome. Perpetual calendars do not have to display the month, day, numerical day, lunar phase, etc.; the complication is termed based on the capability, not the display.

It's possible to get a chinese clone to perform to that standard, but the performance doesn't last long. That, combined with the lack of power reserve and other issues of the movement, make them inferior in the long run and generally a waste of money. My watchmaker got my Seagull 1963 to be within 0.5sec per day, though he did explain to me why the quality control was shit. The Venus movement it's based on is excellent, so the movement had the capability to a degree, but the dirt, lack of or excess lubrication, etc. created problems direct from the factory.

Guaranteed accuracy, I cannot. Given that my vintage 321 is within 1 second a week, I'd say that the Rolex has a fantastic capability direct from the factory which other brands do not. However, if you have a great watchmaker and a watch with a good movement, then almost any tolerance is possible.

A CALENDAR ISN'T NECESSARILY A WATCH.

CALENDARS HAVE EXISTED CENTURIES BEFORE WATCHES WERE EVEN INVENTED.

CALENDARS CAN EXIST IN MULTIPLE FORMS: A SHEET OF PAPER, A COMPUTER SOFTWARE OR A WATCH.

PIC RELATED IS A CALENDAR OF THE YEAR 2024.

THE SOLE PURPOSE OF A CALENDAR IS TO TELL YOU THE DAY, THE DATE AND THE MONTH OF THE YEAR.

"JEEZ WHAT DAY, DATE AND MONTH IS IT TODAY? I KNOW, I'LL JUST LOOK AT A CALENDAR TO KNOW THAT INFORMATION"

IF A CALENDAR - WHATEVER ITS FORM - DOESN'T DISPLAY THE DAY, THE DATE AND THE MONTH OF THE YEAR THEN THIS IS NOT A CALENDAR.

THE MEANING OF THE WORD "CALENDAR" DOESN'T MAGICALLY CHANGE WHEN WE'RE TALKING ABOUT WATCHES.

THIS IS EASY TO UNDERSTAND.

Yeah agreed, but that design language basically precludes the use of a bracelet. Putting a Panerai on a bracelet is to make it more like dive watch designs that come much later on than the original Radiomir which was designed to use leather or canvas straps, the Luminor is still based on that same concept and the lugs therefore still designed around a strap rather than a bracelet.

Everyone itt take notice that this guy actually has a pretty big wrist and the 36mm watch still looks perfect.

dang I've seen this person doing reps/homages for at least 20 years now
>>

A watch can never be too small unless you can't read it anymore

A watch can easily be too big when get things like lug overhand and looking like a dinner plate
>>
>>18253381
>apple watch ultra 2
>calls an ambulance if I start dying while wearing it
Literally life saving technology. It also doesn't look like a watch a grandfather would wear, and zoomettes dig it (millenial here).

>>18253393
>>18253561
These metal bands scream grand papa.

>>18253672
These will let you die while wearing them, but they look better with the bands.

The other thing that sticks out is how bad most of your hands/wrists look in watches. You are look dysgenic due to no wrist grip strength or chubby.
>post ur hand
I won't, assume I look worse, doesn't matter my watch won't let me die or Apple pays my family $1000. This just shows for most of you buying a several thousand dollar watch is pointless.

>>18255063
Congrats your wrists looks normal.

>at least 50m water resistance, sapphire crystal

Only watch I've found is the Oris Diver midsize but it's costs like 3000 dollars
>>
>>18255480
sapphire crystal would be a poor idea for an actually used underwater dive watch
and you can put a rubber strap on any watch

I also work in an office using my large brain and high IQ, but it's cool you work in da tradez and are destroying your body because it keeps you away from dangerous things like 5G, high paychecks, office wifi, and hot secretaries. Let me guess, you have diabetes but stopped taking the medicine because your foot went numb and stopped hurting so it must be fixed. I have something to live for, so I take actions to ensure I keep living.

>>
>>18255492
I have a mature look, but like I've said the apple watch ultra 2 shows the zoomettes I've still got it. And by it, I mean 'rizz', which is a term you are my age or older and have never heard, or are a zoomie yourself and upset you don't have it.

>>18255495
It's amazing that working in an office for a high salary is so alien to you that you believe it couldn't possibly happen. Best of luck in your next life.

would make more sense to have minutes on the inside really
but the whole idea is reading quickly under pressure

It's a military field watch dial intended for normies and retards with no concept of keeping time in 24 hour format to be able to get through boot camp and military operations without their NCO's foot entering their rectum.

Believe it or not most people cannot get their head around the concept of 24 hour time or tracking different time zones with 24 hour time. It's actually shocking.
>>
>>18255527
vostok 120 or smth

420 has the best fit and proportions
>>
>>18255530
kek that's great.

>>18255523
Not sure what that means, I've heard it but never amongst the zoomettes.

>>18255514
Often, but not right now.
>>
>>18255507
Fliegers weren't just huge because of pressure, it was because even if you are not fighting little prop driven planes of the time would bounce and drift around all over the place due to wind and turbulence. Wearing a normal watch with little indexes would make it way harder to read when your head and arms and body are swinging around all over the place AND you're trying to keep your plane flying straight.
>>
>>18255536
idk the 420 is kinda boring which is why I went for the 71 pillow case

The reason you don't get zoomettes is you talk like this. You need to have a more millenial humor to get them. Show them some 2000s memes (scumbag steve, foul bachelor frog) and they will love it. These are vintage memes from before you were born.

Think of it how some zoomettes will like nirvana and shit, these memes are the equivalent of that.

>>18255553
