They are both overpriced and bad, but I've seen nice looking ones. Timex Waterbury Chrono is more legit and half the price but not so minimalist.

Damn
I liked how old and simple they looked but still had details enough to fill the disc (idk what its called)
Do you know of any that fit the description? Doesn't have to be a chronograph either, a standard watch to tell the time would do as fine

Eh I double checked the About Vintage, not bad just overpriced. It's a $60-$80 watch for $350.
But all watches are overpriced. This is a "cheap" "good" version for $2500.

Where does the pillow/cushion case design come from? I've heard somewhere that it's because it's and easy case shape to stamp out of a metal blank thus not requiring any or as many milling operations as conventional watch cases do. Is there any truth to that?

Issey miyake TO watch stainless steel, Produced by seiko. One of my personal favs, I love how minimalist it is and the fact nobody in the west seems to have one. People always talk to me about this watch even tho it’s not particularly expensive or rare. They’re not very available other than in Japan I can’t find a many listings in the UK. Also Warning they do look very bad once scratched if ur thinking of getting one. Also comes Ina very beautiful futuristic looking case and includes an ownership card.

I like the look but aren't those built incredibly cheaply with tons of plastic parts and corner cutting because they came out during the quartz crisis and breitling was trying everything it could to stay afloat?
or are some references free from this?
>>
>>18256222
No, the Chronomats were well-made. The only downside, such as it is, is that the movement is a bog-standard Valjoux 7750. That makes it a pretty thick watch with an annoying rotor wobble.
It's finished to only a basic standard but the caseback is solid and it's COSC certified.
>>
>>18256038

>>
I love vintage Omega so much.
>>
Absolutely hate how widespread "workhorse" auto movements are, just no need for them when Seiko and ETA do have access to Quartz technology. The only exception I think is for Vostok because they try to make the entire watch in their one factory and while they have the equipment and the skillset to produce mechanical movements, they don't have access to an in-house quartz movement as that would be hugely expensive to produce.

On the other hand, there is no reason for the Powermatic 80 or NH35 to exist.
>>
>>18256255
auto watches are bloat too
I'd take handwind everyday if it made watches thinner and less bulky
>>
>>18256225
you're right I guess it's the 7750 of that generation that has plastic parts out of the box, breitling just left the movement as is

One double-finger on the chrono reset work dial-side .
>>
>>18256278
there are 10year lithium batts for watches
citizen ecodrives have gone up to 20yrs with a probably absolute max of 25 before needing replacement parts
some guy dug up a casio f91 that he lost in his garden after 20yrs and it was still working and telling the time albeit it was minutes off
shitty disposable cereal box quartz watches whose batteries drain after a year or two shouldn't be considered any real norm or calculated as part of any "average"
older quartz watches were like this, this is not the norm nowadays and there's a lot that quartz has to offer if anyone actually wants to bother with it and the barrier to entry to decent enough quartz isn't high

I know, and it looks as small on my wrist. Almost dainty, to be sure. I love it; I highly recommend it if you have a normal sized wrist. I'm sure I mentioned this before: before buying, I tried on several different sizes in the JLC Boutique, and on paper I wanted to go with the 'Classique', which is closest to the size of the original Reverso from the 30s. The only problem was that it looked like I was wearing a watch for a child or a small woman, and even the AD Lady helping me out suggested that it looked 'somewhat small'...I agreed. This size turned out to have exactly what I wanted on my wrist, and it also happens to be the same size as the Tribute (which is what I wanted from the beginning anyway). So, it was all meant to be.

What watch are you wearing today, Fren?

One other thing; it's absurdly thin compared with the watches I normally wear. The Lady didn't know I was planning on getting the original Tribute, so she tried to sell me a duoface, but these are really thick...much more than I think looks good. That's not a critique of the mechanism or engineering...it's just that I think this watch should be thin. Anyway, there we are.

So why are Omegas so cheap compared to other "luxury" brands?
>>
>>18256853
such as?
>>
>>18256853
Because they run their business like a McDonald's. They'll sell yoi pretty much anything you want no questions asked as long as you have the money, the only exception is very rare limited pieces. (like actually limited, not the usual 12 "limited" runs of speedmasters they do all throughout the year.) it's not actually exclusive, so when people who bought the shit new get tired of it the only buyers are people that already had the chance to buy it full price but passed. If they wanted the watch at retail they would have bought it from Omega. So the resale value is shit.
>>
>>18256255
And yet, it's the year 2025 of our lord and savior and sweeping second hand solar quartz does not exist.

I think it's funny when luxury watch brands have all of these marketing talking points to present their watches as understated, heritage-laden heirlooms that only suitably quaint gentlemen could appreciate, but luxury watch fans are honestly like kids in the playground bullying each other over what Pokémon cards they may or may not have.

Just goes to show, money speaks louder than words, for all the marketing bollocks they put out there, it's prices that attract. Richard Mille for example has shit designs that only autists could like, they're the shirt with vinyl flames on it of the watch world, but because they're so unreasonably expensive, they didn't go out of business instantly. That says everything that can be said about this industry.

It's just the one watch brand autist contrarians with no taste (like you) will always choose when asked to pick anything other than swiss watches.
Grand Seicope has pretty dials and movements, but that's really it.
Their finishing is a scratch magnet, their cases are fat and have terrible proportions, the bracelet FUCKING SUCKS. The bracelet is just fucking garbage and actually embarrassing for a 7k dollar watch. They try to look sporty, but their spring drive line and hi beat only has 5 ATM. That low WR is just pathetic for a watch of that price and style.
Grand Seicope, like Omega, tries to play with the big boys, but only end up being Rolex copes and what ifs.

Cope if you must.
>>
>>18257031
I think it's more that you're conflicted, on the one hand Japan is based homogenous honorary Aryan society that produced the katana but at the same time because you've also been instructed by shills to see the Swiss (and specifically Rolex) as the only competent or desirable watchmakers.

So you fear GS because shitting on it for not being Swiss contradicts using Japan as a model for how based racially homogenised societies are. I mean this is 4chan after all.

>>18257041
I have tried to enjoy GS, I looked at their catalogue, I tried a snowflake. It's just a pretender's watch. It's okay, but it doesn't stand with the big boys. This is why GS constantly has to compare itself to Rolex, because it's a defense mechanism from its buyers trying not to regret their shitty purchase. I mean really? A bracelet that shit quality for that price when the oyster bracelet is world leading for less? Pathetic. I really do believe people who buy GS are contrarian incels.
>>
shut the fuck up fucking retard faggot
>>
>>18257048
Based on what I've seen on multiple boards on 4chan for, regrettably, over a decade, most would consider it contrarian to consider Japan to not be the absolute best at everything (again because supposedly based racially homogeneous society) including watchmaking.
The defensiveness therefore is from a knowledge that you're trying to claim to the contrary that Japan can be best at everything except watchmaking which you then have to overdo and claim is shit.

But you don't have to be defensive, 4chan *is* wrong in thinking Japan is the most based nation in the world, they aren't good at absolutely everything and if they were that's not because of racial homogeneity. You can think the Swiss and Rolex in particular make superior watches without bleaching your brain with cortisol over disagreeing that Japan *might not be* the most based nation to have ever existed that is superior in absolutely everything.

What has japan ever actually been better at though? They have good food and good electronics. That's kind of it. Their greatest contribution to watches was quartz watches, which yes changed the entire world of timekeeping and brought watches to the masses, but as jewelry pieces or as tools the Japanese watch designs really never topped the swiss. They were just cheap functional watches.

omegafags do the exact same thing without the weebwank faggotry that gs brings
it's the "also ran" syndrome mixed in with a gallon of sourgrapes juice
if you offered any of the loudest of these fags a rolex equivalent to whatever it is they're pushing in their seethe comments, because 99% of them don't own any watch let alone a gs or omegay, they'll take the rolex every time if there was nobody around to hold them up to their hypocrisy
those that bought a gs or omegay because they actually wanted them instead of a rolex aren't the ones screeching about how much better those are by comparison
they'd just enjoy their watches quietly
the ones that actually own a gs or swatchmega and have to loudly proclaim at any opportunity how their choice is better than whatever rolex are doing so out of pure unadulterated cope

If you made a spreadsheet of all the things that matter when you're buying a luxury sports watch:
>accuracy
>build quality
>proportions
>brand recognition
>value retention
>ease to service
>heritage/history

And try to rank every brands in the most honest and unbiased way possible...
Then Rolex would be first or second in every categories.

I 100% understand why some people don't want a Rolex. Maybe they don't like the design, or they find them boring, or they hate the cult following or whatever... In the end a luxury watch is an "emotional" purchase, and sometimes you just "fall in love" with a watch despite its flaws.
I have no problem with that. I myself have a soft spot for JLC... The thing is, I'm smart enough to admit Rolex mogs JLC in every conceivable ways, so I'm not going to let my pride talk when I'm comparing the two.

It's OK if you prefer IWC, Omega or GS to Rolex. Just be smart and don't act like you made objectively the best and most reasonable choice, because you really didn't. Rolex is just something else.
>>
>>18257159
Ok.
>>
>>18257159
If you go outside of strictly sports watches then I would argue Rolex often loses in terms of history and heritage. They might not even make the top 10 if you ask me. They are relatively young as far as watch brands go and their achievements are not that prestigious when you really start scratching under the surface instead of taking their word for it and have been seriously embellished by decades of marketing.
But that particular point is arguably the least important when chosing a watch. It only matters if you decide to care about it.

Okay, let's take my Tissot PRX Quartz 40mm
>accuracy
It's quartz so considerably more accurate than any Rolex movement
>build quality
Subjective about much difference there is between the PRX and an OP, but a quantifiable metric is WR and both are 100m
>proportions
Both the PRX and OP have various sizes to suit both men and wristlets
>brand recognition
Tissot is available in every mall in every town in every 1st world nation, Rolex has far fewer ADs by comparison
>value retention
Rolex edges out here for now, but should the market ever treat Rolex OPs like any other brand and thus suffer depreciation then you would lose more money in depreciation than what is possible to lose with a PRX even if you threw it off a cliff
>ease to service
Again Quartz, so a battery change
>heritage/history
Tissot is a considerably older brand than Rolex, also was the supplier of pocket watches to the Russian royal family, has some pretty interesting relics like the rock watch

By all of those metrics, the Tissot PRX is the smarter buy. I dunno why Rolexfags need to insist their purchase wasn't just what they wanted, but an unavoidable purchase they had to make.

>>18257174
First time seeing this watch here
>>
>>18255655

>>
>>18257175
Let me disprove your retarded points real quick
>accuracy
All Rolexes have COSC certiifcations. They are mechanical as opposed to quartz, which yeah, a quartz is obviously better, but a quartz does not have a sweeping hand like a mechanical. The Rolex movements are way better than the ones Tissot uses for its mechanical line. It's a choice if you prefer a sweeping or a 1 second interval seconds-hand.
>build quality
Rolex source their own steel, precious metals, movements, cases, everything. The bracelet of Rolex watches is world class and almost every brand has copied the oyster and jubilee. They are known to be tanks that can las decades without servicing and can be renovated with relative ease. A tissot is just a shitter in comparison.
>proportions
Only good looking tissot is the PRX, which is kinda just decent, not really much to say. The rest of the Tissots are just boring and uninspired. You couldn't tell it was a Tissot from a few feet away. There are no Rolex which doesn't have an iconic instantly recognizable shape, unless maybe it's the Gay King or Nerdgause, but those ones are for autists anyways.
>brand recognition
Rolex is for flexing against poorfags, it's great. Tissot, women will get the ick knowing you didn't get a rolex instead. Girls love men wth rolex, not gay ass tissots.
>value retention
Who gives a shit honestly, a watch is for wearing. Even then, Rolex hold their value way better than a Tissot ever will.
>ease to service
Rolex have tanky movements, and they're not too expensive. Quartz is gay, so who cares about it, the whole watch is at a risk of corroding when having an old battery.
>heritage/history
Rolex mogs Tissot all day. Everyone knows Rolex, few know Tissot. Rolex created the whole culture of watch flexing, all brands copy elements from Rolex, Tissot copies AP.

Rolex just mogs Tissot Your PRX is always at a risk of corroding and dying as Tissot doesn't have the quartz reliability of Seiko.

Are you really trying to flex nudes? Do you know how easy it is to get free nudes from sluts on the internet and irl?
You have all those pictures, but none of them have you in it. So you're really just whacking it to the most mediocre nudes possible while having sex with none of them. You are fucking pathetic and you really should kill yourself.

He is. He was in the closet and that eventually lead to his divorce. His submissive behaviour with his wife lead her to find a true bull for herself.
>>
>>18257273
Pretty much this. Pathetic faggot.
>>
>>18257273
>none of them have you in it.
Look at this faggot casually asking for dickpics!
Sorry homo, I’m only into women.
>>
let's be real here
anyone on /fa/ especially in /wt/ is probably gay or at least bi
>>
At some point we have to choose between a boring thread or a thread with avatarfags.
We have to accept that it's not the same and that it is more engaging, interesting and more inspiring having people in our community who we can follow in their watch journey.
How hype would it be if Finncel popped up with a new watch? Think about it.
OD getting that JLC reverso out of nowhere??? How is this NOT hype af?
Whoretadello aka /wt/? Every time he posts you don't know if he got a new watch or where he even is right now.
HamiltonChad? Bro... His long distance shots are out of this world.
Mort? He has every watch we could ever want and more.
And this is just scratching the surface.
The CatMoserChad-CMC for short. The cockwatch faggot too. The Germoid who might just be Bitteranon(???).
It's just very entertaining. It gives a certain one of a kind-character and feel and makes this thread extremely unique.
And we get to talk about watches directly THROUGH them, their objective experiences and analyse them in depth.
I love our All-stars and I hope they're doing well.
>>
this is the best watch thread in years
>>
>>18257277
>collected over months in HIDDEN FOLDER (which only saves the most recently hidden)
>only pictures are those of mediocre nudes of fat women
Stop trying to cope your way out of this. You really just tried to flex nudes from whales who you never got to touch. You say they were sent over Tinder, but I think you just added that comment in order to obfuscate the fact you had to pay for them in some OF pages. So much for being a "chad", pfft.

This is probably pasta, but uinronically yes.
I miss whoretadello and I wonder how he's life in Japan is. He did go a bit overboard with the white posting, but those times were golden.
I miss OmegaDrunk's essays on watches and his near incoherent merry drunk posts. I hope his glass never goes empty.
Even reversocel I miss. I hope he found peace and the attention he craved for in redit.
Even cockwatch. He was so uniquely schizo, he never failed to leave his mark on this thread.
Now we have a mostly desolate wasteland of just rambling and arguing about specs... I fear we lost our joy when we lost many of our most important avatarfriends.

You can tell people are seething based on not being able to pick just one thing
>They're skanks
>They're fat
>Nudes are easy to acquire and prove nothing
>You've not actually fucked any of them
Any one of those may be true, but when you combine multiple of them in a single post, that's coping.

Good fun to see though, I feel slightly better about my green Vostok getting a zero lmao.
>>
>>18257288
vostoks are for chads
>>
>>18257283
>seethe because I gave his Seiko a ZERO
>call me a fag
>get his ass torn by the proof of all the nudes I receive (often without asking!)
>can only cope and has to come up with weird scenarios where I pay women for nudes
>also ask to see my dick for some reasons
Next time post a good watch and you'll get that TEN OUT OF TEN you've been begging for.
HOMOFAGGOT!

>>
>>18257292
I haven't posted a watch here. You have collected over months in a iPhone hidden folder (which only saves the most recent saved imaged) mediocre nudes, and none of them have you. Which means that you either payed for them or you just downloaded them from the internet. You cannot prove you have sex, because your evidence is weak. Until then, you are still a fat autist who gets no pussy.
>>
For me it's the third one down on the right. Not a fan of the piercing though.
>>
>>18257297
NTA but this is tragic.
>>
>>18257253
bitches so fugly and he still only gets nudes and no sex, lol lmao

>Still trying to hide that he never actually got to have sex with any of them

Sirs, this is a watch thread.
>>
Thing is, a post like
>So where do your high standards with watches come from?
Is so easy to make when you're not red faced and pounding out a frantic cope.
>>
>>18257311
>>18257312
Samefag is samefag. Let's talk about how much of a loser you are instead and how you got exposed for trying to flex nudes with no sex to speak of.
