I got a set of 10 Mancera samples and they all have an extremely harsh opening. So far I've tried Kumkat Wood, Aoud Lemon Mint, Cedrat Boise, and Oud Violet and they all start off extremely screechy. People say clones have harsh openings, but these are a thousand times worse than any clone I've tried. Is it somehow worse because they're in a 2ml sample bottle?

>>18262781That’s Mancera for you.
>>18262801Serge Lutens is trash, I wouldn't be caught wearing that outdated sh*t even if somebody paid me to do so.I enjoy the premium niche market, product that is very expensive. I understand /frag/ isn't huge on fragrances that are over $500 retail, but to me, those scents absolutely obliterate anything that can be had for $300, $200, much less sub $150. The lower you go in $, the smaller the probability that the scent lives up to market leaders.

Loewe Esencia EDP vs Nishane Hacivatwhat's your pick?
>>18262807Curious what you like then.
>>18262825 Worth the money, I'll do a quick 5: Xerjoff "Alexandria II" - bought from Xerjoff for like €440/100ml, you can get it for less than $300 on discounters. Powdery rose-oud that works very well as a business-formal signature. Nishane "Nefs" - full retail now is €555, I got it for ~€370. I saw US discounters offering this for $250-260. This is among the best showstopper scents in the market, a rose-oud with honey & fig. Some say it's doing too much, but I think that supports its case as a top premium niche release. Royal Crown "Sultan" - another full retail bottle for me at ~€600. Man... people will think I'm BSing when I say this vanilla scent has an aura to it. It is so deep & rich that it blows every other vanilla away. I know US discounters have this for like half the RRP, would only recommend it to those who really enjoy gourmand vanillas (and even then, don't blindbuy it lol). Roja "Enigma Parfum" - retail is €475/50ml IIRC. Disclaimer: I only got a travel size atm (so mentioning it can be viewed as dishonest). As much as Roja rightly gets criticized for their PR presence, the blending and quality of the product is right there at the top of the market. And nothing comes close to what Enigma does with the coca cola vibe. I'm somewhat offended when I see people mention the 100ml orange glass PC because that product is not only watered down, but it's also so much less complex. Amouage "Enclave" - The only scent that I'll mention that is below ~€500. Basically paid full retail for this, say €300/100ml. I am pretty sure it can be found for sub 200 still. Spearmint & amber, a very unique profile over the last 5 years that isn't being duped either. Works well in spring-fall weather

Never understood the fragcom circlejerk over this fragrance. It never wins a fragrance battle test, women do not like, men do not like it. This shit\s quality or uniqueness is heavily inflated by the community. H24 in all variations is much, much better fragrance
>>18262859Not sure I understand your point, women dislike H24 even more. Jus de Rose and Monika trashed it.
Tried this out. Really good, but REALLY expensive. Might shell out half a grand for this some day...
>>18262859It's one of my favorite frags but I can see how it does not have mass appeal. It smells like a luxurious landscape. Every time I smelled it on a stranger it was somebody who was a doctor.

God I hate the drydown. The opening smelled like bananas too, weirdly appealing. Had to wash it off my arm because it was just gross after a couple hours.
>>18263446I find it funny how fragrance communities online tend to go kind of hivemind-y on all fragrances, there’s always a clear majority opinion and then the clear pushback against it, but H24 transcends that form of debate. It’s so divisive that there is no obvious majority opinion on it, which is pretty damn rare. That being said, I like it, both for thr fact that Hermes had balls to release something so different as a mainstream pillar, and the fact how it can have such strange notes and still feel pleasant to my nose.

I tried several constantly frequently talked about (promoted) perfumes on social media. Lattafa Khamrah [Kilian Paris Angels' Share]sweet, warm spicy, vanilla, amber, cinnamonSweet, intense scent, not bad, leans slightly feminine, long-lasting. The new version with coffee is supposed to be better.Lattafa Asad [Dior Sauvage Elixir]amber, vanilla, fresh spicy, woody, warm spicyAcceptable, takes some time to develop the scent, decently long-lasting, without any major special features. Might buy again.Montblanc Explorer [Creed Aventus]woody, citrus, aromatic, amber, muskyIntensity fades quickly. The scent is acceptable but generally unremarkable. Won't buy again. Was told by one girl i smell like window cleaning fluid.Afnan 9 PM [Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Ultra Male]vanilla, amber, warm spicy, cinnamon, sweetSweet scent slightly reminiscent of chewing gum, intensity and longevity fade quickly, unremarkable. Won't buy again.Moschino Toy Boyrose, floral, musky, woody, soft spicySmells like dead roses. Cant phantom how this is suppose to be for men. I don't like it.Rabanne 1 Million Royalwarm spicy, aromatic, amber, citrus, woodySmells a bit like flowers. Nothing special. I don't like it.Carolina Herrera Bad Boywarm spicy, fresh spicy, cacao, vanilla, aromaticSmells acceptable. Versace Erosvanilla, aromatic, green, fresh spicy, amberSomething in the middle. There are probably better options for a perfume than this one.

>>18263684No, I'm really not, but I have been thought to be by gays on occasion, but that's merely wishful thinking on their parts. What I concern myself with in a fragrance is: How does this scent fit the idea of me in the minds of other people? Does it complete or distort me as an archetypal icon? Things like "feminine" or "masculine" are arbitrary until they are an explicit derivative of a fragrance's interaction with me personally. In other words, even if a smell makes another man seem masculine, for instance, it may make me seem old rather than masculine, or boring, or poor. And even if a scent makes another man seem feminine, it may make me seem interesting, or lively, or gentle. Just random examples, but the point is, you are a specific use-case, and therefore each fragrance must be assessed in relation to you as if that is its only possible context. Even so, though I say that, there are fragrances which may be called unisex, but are far too feminine or masculine to actually be unisex. The unisexing of fragraces, clothing, hairstyles, etc., is all just part of the psychological and spiritual warfare the elite regime is carrying out on the general public.
>>18263757I like Jazz Club. I thought Frank No. 2 was a better modern take on an old-school scent, but Jazz Club was even more distinct. Although I don't enjoy gin, I enjoy the gin element in that fragrance. I'm a neophyte, nobody however. My opinions are not expert or even experienced takes.
Just bought some bottles. What are your thoughts fraggots? The DHS2021 and TMW are what I was waiting to see listed. Dreamer and Quorum were tacked on because I enjoyed my decants. Bogart and Rochas are because I couldn’t find anywhere decanting them.
>>18263867Bogart is great, very green and far less brash than One Man ShowI'm surprised you like Quorom, feels like Polo Green if it lost all of its refinement and was content to spend its life chainsmoking in dingy motel rooms. Dreamer is cool but not to my tasts
>>18263881I have a decant of Polo but haven’t actually tested it yet. Also can’t speak to how recent of a formulation it is, but it’s probably relatively new-ish, so unless the modern-day version is still refined, I’ll never know. As for the Quorum itself, I don’t know what to say, it comes off as this fantastic dirty/clean old man scent that I just love. Conversely The Dreamer is pure, clean, white dryer sheets with just a touch of sweetness.

>>18264405Compliments for perfumes are a fucking meme, and I’m tired of people constantly talking about them as if they aren’t. I regularly get compliments for my shoes, blazers etc., but never ever has anyone commented on my fragrance unless we’re already on intimate terms.
Fragrances are by far the most expensive items in my wardrobe
>>18264421should have been Celerio Epic [Killian Paris Angels' Share]
>>18264146Smelled it yesterday for the first time. It smells pretty good to me but it doesn't justify the price (or that of any other TF fragrance). I only buy TF when it's on sale
How many sprays is optimal?
A-Are there any w-w-wombmen here?? W-what smells d-do th-th-they like? (Trannies don't count.)
>>18264405because the scent is gone before you arrive at work>>18264410awful list, stop watching youtube and/or taking fragrantica seriously. you will regret buying any of those sooner or later if you buy them blindly, so at least get decants. jaipur homme is probably the only good thing on that list but it's a bit polarizing>>1826444222-35>>18264370i said any amount of money and i want to believe we try to settle for something more than generic or average in these threads
>>18264442anything below five sprays should not be called 'applying fragrance' at all>>18264444lol no(digits wasted)
>>18264388La Nuit De L'Homme is the best of the bunch.

>>18264455(TEDT)
IT JUST WERKS
>i want to believe we try to settle for something more than generic or average in these threadsYeah, that's why Guerlain Shittyver (a frag whose most redeeming feature it is that it's middle of the road, inoffensive and generically "men's cologne" smelling) is the most often recommended frag here
>>18264464>t. noselet
Is Ormonde Man yet another internet hype fragrance that has become irrelevant like Timbuktu and Sycomore?
>>18264470no, it's still great
>>18264470Ormonde Man smells like a 30$ fragrance.
>>18264442I don't use atomizers, it wastes your frag.I remove the kids and give myself an aftershave type slap around the neck. Then a splash on the wrists
>>18264119parfums de marly herod or tom ford tobacco vanille. but it's hard to beat eau des baux for the money
>>18264329>none of the incomplete perfumery that tom ford has ever released is worth any amount of moneyblack orchid, noir de noir, tuscan leather, and grey vetiver are good fragrances. but it's more fun to speak in absolutes, innit.
my old man used to smear cow dung on his skin because he reputed its smell as appealing.to this day, whenever we happen to smell that stench, he confidently claims that it's an acquired taste.but apparently he absolutely can't stand dylan blue, it makes him gag
>>18264455>La Nuit De L'Hommemfw i still have a bottle from 2015this shit smells like love making sex to em
Fragrances that smell like pic related?

woman i used to know used to spray atelier's oud saphir on her lingerie. still drives me mad.
Goyim, I don't know how to tell you this but you're a buncha trannies >Since Judaism considers the phenomenon of perfuming oneself to be feminine, a man’s wearing perfume is related to the Torah prohibition of “cross-dressing”. However, since nowadays so many men wear men’s perfume, i.e. cologne, it is not considered strictly women’s wear and is thus, strictly speaking, not forbidden as cross-dressing. Still, it is considered inappropriate, effeminate and “unmanly” for a man to wear cologne, even if worn for his own personal enjoyment.
>>18264542So, you admit that you believe in Judaism? I believe this contradicts your point anon, unless I'm assuming wrongly and you don't hate Jews

luckily the prophet muhammed (pbuh) wore perfume so it's sunnah for me to douse myself.>The Prophet (S) said, ‘He who perfumes himself for Allah, most High, will be raised on the Day of Resurrection, smelling more fragrant than sweet musk, whereas he who perfumes himself for other than Allah will be raised on the Day of Resurrection smelling more putrid than a corpse.’[al-Mahajjat al-Baydha, v. 8, p. 105]>Narrated 'Aisha: I used to perfume Allah's Messenger ﷺ with the best scent available till I saw the shine of the scent on his head and shine beard.alhamdulilah brothers lets douse ourselves

My Grandpa wants to change perfume, since the frag he would always buy nowadays costs too much. He's a very simple, clean and hardworking man. Somewhat grumpy. ¿what should I get him?(preferably something wearable all-year round and not very expensive)
>>18264584maybe Davidoff Zino?
>>18264589not bad, but medium-price frags are fine too, just to be clear
>>18264569just arrived and i feel like i can see myself wearing it wherever in that it's not offensive at all. it's like a deeper, fresh shower gel

>>18264584>since the frag he would always buy nowadays costs too muchWhich frag is that?
>>18264606Cartier Declaration. He often finds it on amazon at around 100€ and says it's excessive. I think he would like other scents categories too, doesn't have to smell like a baroness' purse like Declaration.
can someone recommend a perfume that is leather and tobacco heavy? maybe some spices here and there, but i mainly want to smell like a 48 year old cigarette addict
Top fragrances for new people>Maison Jazz Club>Parfum De Marly Layton>La Nuit de l'Homme Yves Saint LaurentThat's it. That's all you need.
>>18264610Get him Joop Homme, it's older than Declaration and cheaper to boot
>>18264621Though there technically isn't a tobacco note in it, black incense malaki. It's leather, smoke and some spicy sweetness

Do Cool Water and Green Irish Tweed really smell pretty much identical?
>>18264690I just bought Cool Water to give it a try and it definitely smells more synthetic than GIT but it definitely has the same profile just lower quality. It is unironically a nice frag

>>18264742Ever tried not to sissy spray, b0ss?
>>18262737>aventus clone>doesn't resemble aventus at allI don't get why this is recommended all the time. In my experience Aventus smells a lot more smokey/pepperish on the drydown, whereas Explorer quickly fades into some stuffy base scent.
>>18264679Got a sample of the Intense version. Surprisingly lasts long for a freshie. Everyone talks shit about the brand, but I find it pleasant.
>>18264758Explorer smells like the most generic magazine page scent ever. I wouldn't spend double digits on it.
New bottles of LNDH are great. Literally retarded if you're hunting older bottles. If you're a faggot who hunts for older bottles of anything i dont wanna hear any frag rec from you, schizo.
>SOTD: Dior Sauvage, 20 sprays

>>18264621>i mainly want to smell like a 48 year old cigarette addictProceed directly to Puig Quorum. Leather and Tobacco in spadesThis is the scent of a 50 year old divorcee trying to drink himself to death in anonymous dive bars, back in the era when you could still smoke insideA lot of people in /frag/ hate alphairone cause he's a donut puncher, but he nailed the review on this:>I imagine Luca Turin (God love him) referred to something like Quorum when he ruthlessly lambasted Les Abstraits Des Cendres on his Substack: "a woody fougère like a foghorn, brutally chemical, like a bad masculine from the late 1970s in the elevator on a Saturday night, left behind by some delusionally eager guy." Yet, I have a penchant for the masculine foghorns from the late 70s through 80s, they may feel brutal to certain noses, but to smell "chemical" as we know is a matter of perception, especially in this age of rampant and paranoid chemophobia. And maybe, just maybe, I want to cosplay that delusionally eager guy of that time period, or maybe I am just a delusionally eager guy of this time period, leaving my trail like the spoor of a randy buck.>I actually do find Des Cendres to be anything but crude, but I do think that Quorum is titillatingly crude by design, particularly in its older forms, sort of an original Polo that went rogue and decided to take on billiards in smoky bars, heaving with ashy pine smatter and punchy mugwort, as green as the logo on a pack of Kool cigs.

>>18264679roja dove, xerjof, etc, all make fragrances for people who care more about displaying status than the scent itself. to answer your question, all of rogers fragrances smell too round and easily forgettable. nobody would give a shit if the pricetag was lower>>18264901>This is the scent of a 50 year old divorcee trying to drink himself to death in anonymous dive bars, back in the era when you could still smoke insidethat's quite the hyperbole, it's not that bad. it's extremely similar to eucris edp and you'd never see such an interpretation for it
