SOTN: Black Musk by Body Shop
>>18408602two of the most boring designer fragrances ever made:>perfectly refined non-smell, vaguely smellable, perfectly cologneishvs>citrus and slight bit of squaky clean cheap smelling musk material. and literally nothing else, also last like an hourat least the Chanel doesn't smell cheap, but on the other hand it isn't cheap. IDK man.
>>18408597>could you describe boucheron pour homme edp to me?Powdery citrus/lavender opening that swiftly dries down to a long lasting and mature oakmoss/musk.The citrus has some longevity on clothing, very little on skin, but it's the drydown where this really stands out imho. The florals of the heart notes are almost non-existent to my nose, I'm told they are much more prominent in the EdT, though I haven't tried it myself yet.Going to make this my signature for the Spring/Summer after previously using Cerruti 1881 for many years.
Is there a better rose-forward mens fragrance in the designer sphere than Chanel Egoiste?
>>18408703interesting very similar to the difference between the jaipur edp and edtboucheron ph edt has no powder, it's just a straight shot of grassy lemon on an oakmoss base and it's a very elegant grassy citrus and close to the drydown the oakmoss comes out more, no floral notes that I can pick out unless there's something blended in to help bring out the other notes>>18408704antaeus

Do you chaps constently spray perfume in your eye like I do... Like, by accident?
>>18409078What area are you spraying to accidentally spray it into your eye? That's never happened to me.
>>18409081The corner. I get the eyedrops out, run face under tap etc. But, going in for the pulse points, I just shoot a stream of fragrance right across my face.
>>18409084why would you ever do that, just put it on your neck mr jeremey frangrance

>>18408908I like this one a lot.
>>18408951I really like AdP's offerings but I want something that performs for longer than 20 minutes. Seems like a lot of their stuff is pretty light. Are there any that have even average performance?
>>18409094You don't need to do that at all. The usual pulse points are more than enough, and there aren't plenty of frags that need more than 4 sprays. Spray 1 on each carotid pulse, then 1 on each brachial pulse. You'll have a good projection and you won't spray into your eyes anymore.
>>18409111Anything less than 8 sprays is too little brother man. The suggestion of scent is no good? If I gotta have a whole day out with no opportunities to touch up, a modern edp won't perform on four sprays. You need ten sprays.
people can probably smell you before they see you
>want to sniff Valentino Coral Fantasy IRL>stores have empty tester bottle>stores have tester bottle missing>stores don't have a tester bottle>basically nobody has one that I can sniffWtf, like 80% of the stores I've been to had testers out for the Intense and Green
>>18408542I've been going through old-school masculine fragrances and I really like a lot of them. It helps that most of them are super cheap as well. I got Ted Lapidus. I'm a little disappointed it gets compared to Kouros a lot but it is just kind of nice. I have sample of vintage Aramis and this one is awesome. Green/herbal, soapy aldehydes and leather. I think a good masculine has sort of a push-pull aspect to it. Something about it is sort of repulsive/offensive and another part is nice and pleasant. It makes it more intriguing experience. So far best old-school masculines for me are:KourosFahrenheitEau SauvageAramis
I really like picrel. I also own Dior Homme Original and Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee which definitely smell better, but picrel is way more wearable as a work/daily fragrance.Do people have any other recs for fragrances with the designer iris / lipstick / makeup / homo accord, but made to be more wearable/casual?
>>18409179Prada L'Homme will be familiar. The Dreamer has iris but is relatively unique. I haven't tried it but Code Parfum looks iris based too.
>>18409091old bottles are fine but it has been reformulated to shit
>>18408704Toy Boy
After testing Beau de Jour on three separate occasions, on skin, on cards, on clothes, I've decided it just smells like a very expensive laundry detergent, and while I would love for my clothes to come out of the drier smelling that good, it's not something I want to wear all day, and definitely not for £150.
>>18409248it's also a semi-clone of Zino, which costs 15$ and not 150$these old fragrance DNAs were often stolen for scenting household products, so it's not surprising that you happened to smell a laundry detergent with this sort of smell
Ghost in the shellSmells utterly clean, like hand soap, but it's clearly high quality and it's not a fastidious smell, but rather pleasant. If someone is into the idea of smelling extra clean and soapy, I strongly recommend this.Totally unisex, 4-season, exclusively day-time.Fat electrician Smells like tire. With a tiny hint of sweetness. Perhaps it has a militarish vibe to it.Remarkable people Frizzy citrusy champagne. Really casts a bright mood, it's fun but elegant in a way. Sweet.Clean suedeIf ombre leather is utterly earthy and raw, this is the opposite. A very light leather, good for before and after dark.
>>18409264Putain the palacesReminds me of bouillon cubes, but in a good way, and with a floral accent. It involuntarily captures that smell of spicy sauce that emanates from the pot when mom cooks chicken fillet. Maybe curry, or a mix of Indian spices? But I can see an eccentric lady wear this. Sous le pont Mirabeau Feels like being immersed in the rich garden of an Italian aristocratic villa facing the sea in a sunny day. The powerful, noble smell of lush Mediterranean trees mixes with the genuine, honest smell of the salty water.

>>18408542What's a good citrus smelling cologne? Want something that isn't overpowering but something to wear once I go to japan
>>18409317What price range?Actual traditional eau de cologne like 4711 or something more modern?
>>18408951Essenza and Intensa are the best AdPs.
>>18409317Chanel Eau de CologneEau de GuerlainEau SauvageColonia EssenzaMugler CologneEau de Rochas Homme
>>18408704If you want to go niche I really like Rogue's Rostracto. Smoky, spicy, resinous rose
>>18408704No. Egoiste is the best sandalwood, rose, tobacco, etc. fragrance for men.
>>18408546can you add Body Kouros to the list? It's my fav to wear on cold nights
>>18409396I never got the big deal with Egoiste. I'd rather wear something like Jaipur Homme
>>18409317Japs like very subtle fragrances. For both men and women all they use is MM Lazy Sunday Morning, Jo Malone English Pear, and Diptyque
>>18409179Pretty straightforward answer
>>18409484guess getting a bottle of LNDH will be a good bet for my next trip since it's weak as shit
>>18409481EdT or EdP, and why.
>>18409500Either one. I just really like the balance of the fresh citrus barbershop top with the roch creamy spicy oriental underneath. Egoiste doesn't have that nice contrast, it's just a spicy oriental all the time.
>>18409513Jaipur doesn't have a prominent rose note like Egoiste.
>>18409516True, the carnation is more prominent
Is Creed Viking a meme fragrance? Should I buy without trying?
>>18409588>Should I buy without trying?always, that's the fun part

Do you wear unisex fragrances?
>>18409602fragrance doesn't have sexI have masculine and unisex and feminine frags and wear all of them
>>18409602Sometimes wear my wife's Cafe Rose, especially layered with Encre Noire A L'Extreme, what a combo WOW
>>18409602unisex doesn't existfragrances are noticeably gender specific and it's up to you to not be a perfume tranny
>>18409615Gayest post ITT>>18409481>I never got the big deal with EgoisteHas been reformulated to death but originally it was pretty good, strong leather and dry tobacco base, spicy red florals and overall very woody. It was like a somewhat dry flower in a cigar humidifier.Nowadays it's a woody oriental-ish with some faraway ephemeral freshness, at least Jaipur has the minty camphorous spice with a stronger base. Honestly it's just another normal case of a big shot brand reformulating everything to the minimum possible and selling using the name only.
>>18409640fuck off pal
>>18409484>Japs like very subtle fragrances. So they say, in the 90's they were scandalous. The fact Issey picked current L'Eau de Issey over Silver Mountain Water is enough proof the ones taking the decisions do not reflect what people say about their general population.
>>18409643Not your pal, homo>>18409264>If ombre leather is utterly earthy and rawIt isn't, at all. Smell real leather sometime.>>18409248>BdJ/Zino smelling like detergentOh snap, it's aldehydes/laundry anon again. Give it a rest, some anons made a great list for you already.>>18409154Check Azzaro PH, sadly reformulated to erase the base, Paco Rabanne PH, sadly reformulated to erase the top notes, Chanel Pour Monsieur, reformulated to erase the humid base, and honestly Chanel Antaeus is a great pick considering the tastes there, sadly reformulated to get rid of some of the rose and base notes. They maintain a general scent very similar to the originals but the performance was based on nowadays banned ingredients, all were heavy on the oakmoss. Then again Aramis and Eau Sauvage were also heavy on oakmoss but you liked them, Kouros had most of its base erased too but mostly due to the animalics. Current Kouros got its aldehydes pumped because originally some batches without the animalics just make it smell like bug spray instead of a somewhat clean green but dirty funk monster.Fahrenheit got its patchouli and herbs toned down while erasing half its violet leaf note due to being expensive/producing cancer.
>>18409650not your homo, faggot
>>18409154You'd probably like Bel Ami.
>>18408863performance isn't great but it's perfect for running errandsnone of that chemical synthetic opening shit that comes with most arab slop
>>18409663Add Rocabar to that, Hermes likes to play tough not supplying Bel Ami to most of its dealers. Also Guerlain's Vetiver and Heritage.>>18409674>perfect for running errandsaka 2 hour performance?>>18409662>not your homoYou are every fag's hole, fruit cake
>>18408880this, price increase will always follow. Some good clones only have hype periods, though, like Kayaan Classic (a DHI clone) or Shiyaaka Silver (an Amouage Reflection clone). There is also Fragrance World Aether (a PDM Greenley clone), which still maintains its markup.
>buying clonest. bought 2 and no more
>>18409285Hermann à mes Côtés me Paraissait une Ombre I have no words to describe it, sorry. If gloom was a smell. Or melancholy. If the color purple was a smell. If the memory of your deceased grandma was a smell, or rather her cold wet tombstone amongst a field of long-dead roses in a late autumn afternoon. I'm probably spouting nonsense but one thing's for sure: HAMCMPUO has its distinct style that won't have people melt in pleasure when they smell it, but it will probably be a nice conversation starter. And most importantly, it unapologetically caresses the delicate cords of your heart.
>>18409705I like your description, but being down to earth, it's just a watery rose with a pinch of pepper. I mean, it's alright, but I don't feel any magic in it. Same story with Encre Noir—just a plain, plushy vetiver fragrance
>>18409707Wouldn't you agree that petrichor is also rather prominent? Maybe I've read too many reviews and I'm getting conditioned too much
>>18409710I can agree that I could feel the 'water' note, and it's prominent. For me, it's 'water' roses pepper, with amber in the background
>>18409697I don’t buy clones anymore either. Far too often they get close to an original but then wreck it with some overdosed aroma chem to boost longevity. The Khamrah/Angels Share situation is a good example. khamrah is close but they maxed out on sone super amber like AmberXtreme or something so as it dries down it becomes harsh. I’d rather have fewer fragrances and a collection that I love than dozens of knockoffs that are worthless and you can’t even swap.
>>18409644Silver Mountain Water is a rejected scent for L'Eau d'Issey?
I want to smell like a grandpa.
>>18409767go for polo green then
>>18409767If you want to smell like a non-particular old person, then go for Kouros
>>18409767It's CK Obsession you're looking for.
>>18409615Idk man. I smelled Serge Luten's La Religieuse and thought it was more masculine despite being "for women."Then I tried Caron's Tabac Blanc and it was DEFINITELY strongly feminine. I definitely felt a little gay wearing it.
Does anyone own anything by Geo F. Trumper? Bought from their website? I'm trying to track down a bottle of Eucris, but there's fucking nothing on decant or discount sites, not a single milliliter. The only thing I've found is:>sketchy grey market site with no reviews or other information on the internet #1>sketchy grey market site with no reviews or other information on the internet #2>Amazon listing that comes from a retailer which again cannot be verified as legit>one single eBay listing with good reviews and around the same price, but it's eBay, so who the fuck knowsBesides that, it's just the house's official website based out of the UK. I can't find any information on whether they ship internationally or not, but their shipping methods suggest not.
>>18409615>fragrance doesn't have sexneither do I
>>18409102I have the same complaint, any of the blue bottled stuff performs worse than an aftershave. Some people claim the misc. fragrances in the black bottles have decent performance, but even those have subpar performance compared to most other houses, imo. >>18409179>>18409194Dreamer has iris listed, but I don’t get the makeup-y thing from it at all, which is part of why I love it. >>18409091>>18409215Never had an old bottle to confirm the hype, but it definitely *had* a reputation for crazy performance, so I tend to believe it was accurate at one point in time. However, I ca confirm that modern bottles have been stripped down to absolute shit performance. I get like ~30 minutes before skin scent, confirmed by multiple people.
>>18409264GitS is great, own a dwindling small bottle and plan on replacing with a large when it’s empty. Had two different people comment on how good it smells, both of them remarking how “it just smells clean.” I will say I can’t really see it as a winter fragrance though, generally speaking I wear it in extreme high heat. >>18409285>Sous le pont MirabeauSmells like Calone>>18409588You’ve oversimplified the question, Viking isn’t a meme fragrance, Creed is a meme brand.
>>18409830I got a trumper sandalwood decant here in Australia and it's pretty decent. I prefer Santal 33 and Serge Lutens Santal more though
>>18409830I am not very knowledgeable about them but my impression is they’re not really worth it. I think they have a couple well known fragrances and most of the rest are the fragrance equivalent of “literally who?”Unfortunately at lot of the fragrances that made them famous also have terrible performance. Their lime cologne has the shortest longevity of any legitimate fragrance I’ve ever seen (not that it’s one they’re famous for). GFT can almost be likened to a legitimate version of Creed. They (actually) come from the history of a legitimate, well known business, but now a days you only buy their stuff to say you own something by them and to show off. Kind of like Floris, except I think Floris stuff even has better performance.
Prada L'homme is way sweeter than how it's described by people. I don't understand what people mean when they say "clean and fresh". Soapy, maybe. Must be fat people that put sugar in they shower water lmoa. It reminds me of YSL MYSLF actually, except that it's more rounded and creamier, less of a straight shot to the nose.
Y EDT smells so much like BdC EDP to me, except cheaper and with the melon-apple scent up front.
Ayo, what's a perfume powerful enough to cover up the smell of garlic body odor? Asking for a friend uwu
>>18409855Yeah that seems to be the general impression I've gotten from them, as well. Spanish Leather seems interesting, but it's really just Eucris I'm after for the dark, vampiric atmosphere it's said to impart. Of course, there's always Encre Noire for that too.
>>18409885A yellow t-shirt, burlap sacks full of bills, and denim overalls.
>>18409767Lalique PH is a really classy grandpa
>>18409264Wtf is a "fastidious smell?" Are you a brown esl?
>Complimentscomplimentscompliments>Compliments bro>Beast mode projection>Compliment puller broWhat's with these retards on YouTube obsessed with compliments? In real life 99% of people will never comment on the way you smell unless you actively smell bad.The only fragrances anyone has complimented me on are Sauvage, Explorer, Afnan 9pm, and BR540, like twice or three times for each. That's it, and I'm a 6'2 blue eyed weightlifter who dresses well. They seem to think that being a 5'6 fat brown wearing a graphic tee is irrelevant and women will flock to him and nuzzle into his neck if he just sprays half a bottle of Lattafa Al Rahim Al Dubai Al Oud on.
>>18409937Encre noire is my most complimented. No joke. And Yatagan is my most insulted.
Detour noir and Dylan blue compliment monsters from boys and girls. Ultra male maaaaybe 1 compliment or 2? but otherwise mostly comments from guys saying I smell too sweet and it makes them wanna bumrape me.Acqua di parma and L'erbolario various citrusy fragrance not a single compliment in my entire life
Egoiste, Jaipur, or Habit Rouge, and why, pros and cons.
>>18409937normies won't spend money unless they're tricked into the vision of pulling flocks of single women with their new purchase. youtubers are literally paid by brands to say 'it's beast porjection compliment getter' on repeat. I guess fanons treat their frags like another piece of their wardrobe, have you ever gotten a compliment about your jeans looking good?
Gayfumes - Pour Homme
>>18409830Santalwood is really good, almost as good as Egoiste, but more straightforward.
>>18409830it's a good house, i have either full bottles or samples of these:>eucris edpgreat masculine frag, too bad the edp version is relatively expensive>sandalwood colognegreat, imo quite similar to chanel egoiste, performance is edp>havana colognegreat spicy frag, performance is at least edt>wild fern colognegreat classical fougere (duh)>18409885>tripfaglol, lmao even

>>18409705She was an anomaly Nothing special. Very faint. Soapy. You get a very slight titillating feeling from the background notes of orchid and amber, and from musk itself. But what you smell is musk pretty much. Terrible performance. Hard pass.
The larp and conviction in these threads are mind-blowing
>>18409938Encre Noir or TF Noir for the dark mysterious smell?
SOTD: Bvlgari Men
>>18409979Exit the kingSmells like soap bar. But not like white musk, don't be mistaken. It's a distinct smell, that has a buttery feel to it. Compared to She was an anomaly, this one lacks any sweetness.

Got the 300ml edc of tabac coming today. Maybe ill let you guys know what i think of the edc vs edt vs deo can. With some comparisons to old spice and jovan.
>>18409992NostosClay + leather + oud skankyness. Wonderful, powerful and complex smell. Animalic and exceptionally masculine. The smell of a Jarl. Causes headaches unfortunately. My dad finds it so unbearable he kicked me out of the house until it's no longer perceivable. My grandma is giving me horny glances.
>>18409588Viking is genuinely good but blind buying something that expensive is retarded
