Remembered the subject this time edition

What do I need to care for my boots?
>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bick4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP
>Don't forget that boots need time to dry properly, rotate them and rest them

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.
>Are Thursdays any good?
no.

i doubt cf stead crazy cow teacores to be on theme with denim fading
>>
>>18716752
why are these styles so ugly?
>>
>>18716758
>the proportions are all fucked up
>the speedhooks are antiqued brass while the rest of the hardwear is nickel
>the strap is completely unnecessary
>the leather is too loud
>the vamp is all cap toe
>the heel counter is too short and too tall
>the "selvedge" line is too aggressively angled
>the midsole is too thick
>the last has too little toe spring

I only wear Lems bc of my back
>>
>>18716796
dunno what lems are supposed to be

if you tell chatgpjeet what shoe you're looking at getting and tell it all the sizes you wear in stuff you own, it gives pretty good sizing recs
you were just gonna scour reddit anyway, chat does it for you
just saying
>>
>>18717153
it's gotten a lot better at sizing, still kind of iffy, though, struggles with widths a lot
so clear that it overrelies on reddit because if you feed it your iron ranger size as the only reference it will size you compltely wrong in everything

does water actually damage suede or are people retarded? I clean my shoes with suede cleaner and then rinse it off with water and was wondering if im actually fucking them up.
People say it dries them which is fixable with conditioner after, or the nap gets lowered which is fixed with a brush which is again something you do afterwards anyway. So don’t get why they say it. Also how are you supposed to clean the lining if it is made of fabric if you’re not gonna use water.
I dab them with a towel to draw the excess water. Someone let me know if you have any experience on this.
>>
>>18717264
when people talk about damaging suede its the low quality split suede that is thinner
>>
>>18717265
That doesn’t quite answer my question cause I have some suede/nubuck shoes that I don’t know the type of suede for. And even then what is the damage to thin ones.
>>
>>18717264
>suede lined with fabric
lol
>>
>>18717283
Well it could be nubuck, but not smooth leather. If you just mean to snark at the lining this is just how some shoes are, so dno what to tell you bro go on snarking.
>>
>>18717264
nah it's fine if you just let it air dry and give it a brushing after
literally the first thing i do when i get anything new in suede or roughout is soak it with the water hose and wear it until it dries. basically breaks them in immediately
no damage at all. just give it a brush. if you're worried they make specific brushes for getting the nap back
>>
>>18717264
My suede boots went in seawater by accident and nothing happened. Dried out; better than before.
>>
Tbh I've never been much a boot guy in my life but in this past year I've gotten boots from Viberg, John Lofgren, RM Williams and Red Wing and in all cases I've had to deal with heel blisters. Sizing down was too tight, sizing up was too loose.
Are boots just not for me
>>
Damn good to know.
>>18717299
>brushes
The wavy rubner and brass ones? I have a small one and I’ll ise it after they’ve dried. Saw on one bottle of suede cleaner that it recommended to give them a brish while wet too.
>>18717315
Did you do anything to them after? I imagine you must’ve at least rinsed out the salt stains.
>>
>>18717349
Don’t get how this is a boot specific issue, it’s just a fit issue no? You can either look for different lasts or maybe get a custom made pair or make changes to them like more insole if their are too loose.
>>
>>18717350
i dunno whichever one came in my shoe care kit. i have a very stiff bristle one that's great for getting the nap back
>>
>>18717353
i just know you look like the biggest faggot with those things
>>
>>18717349
pretty much all good leather shoes can and probably will give blisters. i like to do a couple hours the first day, 4 the next, 8 the next and after that they're usually broken in an i didn't get blisters
i've got straight to 8+ hours with brand new boots and regretted it every single time
>>
Moonshine cowboy boots makes roughout but I think their not good boots
What to do
>>
How long should it take to know if boots are the right size? If it is half a size too big would I know right away?
The advice is to wear them around the house, but the websites say they won't accept returns/exchanges if there are creases in the leather or dust on the sole.
>>
>>18717431
you know the second you put it on
>>
>>18717353
Looks like the garbage that it is and with all these "good examples" he posts some shitter that rips itself apart in the backstay.
>>
ID on boots?
>>
>>18717431
as soon as you put them on, shoes should feel snug but not tight and definitely not uncomfortable even on the first wear
>>
>>18717349
What socks are you wearing?
>>
>>18717353
now try that again without crying
>>
>>18717352
I kinda feel like it's boot specific since I've never ever gotten foot blisters before wearing leather boots.

>>18717362
During every break in period I keep thinking "shit what if this doesn't get better."

>>18717764
Danish Endurance merino wool socks I got off Amazon, sometimes I layer them over thinner regular cotton socks and it helps.
>>
You guys talk about boots and shoes and loafers and whatever but you never talk about belts, which are a matching compliment.
>>
>>18717821
There's not much to belts. Just get one that matches the color
>>
>>18717837
Well leather quality and price are two important factors, but also the buckle. Not all belts are good.
>>
>>18717877
Make your own. It's really easy

Speaking of belts, roughly how long would it take for the color on these boots to become a darker brown? Should I even bother getting another belt if I want to be autistic about matching?
>>
>>18717937
couple of months depending how much you wear them
natural chromexcel is pretty characteritic and pull-up leathers are difficult to color match, unless you get the exact same leather belt
>>
>>18717821
I had bought a Hank's belt a while back when I was tired of my shitty belts falling apart after a few months. Not sure if it's new ownership or what but the website was full of pop-ups and spam the last time I visited it looking to get another belt in a different color and size I just gave up.
Hank's 100 year belt. Going to just resize the one I have and avoid their website from now on.
>>
>>18717265
Nonsense. Plenty of good suede like CF stead is split. Raw split hide on the flesh side is still easily 2mm, stop parroting bloggers shit.

Yeah just opened the website and I hate that shit. They do have cool belts though.
>>
>>18718232
Any website that IMMEDIATELY shows a popup asking for your email or to get a discount or whatever else is a yikes from me dawg. And anything with the stupid chatbot icon, or basically anything that begs you for your information
I don't like supporting those kinds of low quality shit sites
>>
>>18718265
I've instantly noped out of so many of these websites, but I feel like I may be cucking myself out of cool items. Maybe it's time to embrace minimalism.

big fan of these guys. made in USA, very fair prices, great quality. i got 8 years out of dailying one of their belts before it just got too worn out
the belt Ryan Gosling wore in Drive is from them lmao that's how i learned about the company

Dogshit website no thanks.

that washed chromexcel actually looks great
>>
>>18718364
People are hating on these boots for the price and that's completely justified, and the leather sole isn't my first choice
But otherwise I think these are excellent looking boots. I like the pebbled shaft and the 55 last looks great

couldn't you just do a nomad, ask them to remove the lower strap and do single row stitching and basically have the same boot?

think the pebble grain is exclusive to that makeup?
