Are these actually a meme? Are they detrimental to you? I get fucking bad callus and I think its fucking up my bench; I wear gloves and I can lift so much more and better
>>
>>48306579
Unless your an actual female there is zero point in not building your calluses
>>
>>48306581
It hurts when I lift and affects my grip strength and lifts.
>>
>>48306652
>it hurts when i lift
do you have someone hold your purse when you "lift" too?
>>
>>48306652
Grip the bar in the right way idiot
>>
>>48306652
Then you're gripping the bar wrong

calluses were not a problem for me, they hurt for the first time and then they hardened up but my fingers became the real problem, i got tired of having to wear fucking bandaids on 3-6 fingers a day and moisturize my hands 10x a day(i got some kind of atopic dermatitis apparently)so i wear gloves for any pull lift now
>>
>>48306579

Odd little secret OP but chicks love calluses it reminds them you work hard and aren't some soft handed basedboy
>>
>>48306579
>Are these actually a meme?

They`re not necessary but more comfortable.

>Are they detrimental to you?

Yes wearing clothes is not natty

>I get fucking bad callus and I think its fucking up my bench

No your mindset is fucking up you`re bench if this is your problem.

I also wear cheap gloves and still get callus get used to it. Your skin gets harder where it needs to be harder.

>>48306652
When you`re sore muscles aren`t worse and distracting enough try zumba or something but lifting doesn`t seem to be your thing.
>>
>>48306579
They are detrimental to you. Other than creating something fatter to hold on to, they create a boundary between you and the bar that can rupture under friction. Also the majority of calluses are just caused by you not holding the bar properly.

>f4g buys gloves 'cause muh hands hurt
>fist day using 'em
>gym goers eyeing him but he doesn't care
>3 weeks in using them
>they start to stink
>puts them aside and lifts raw for the rest of his life
Fin.
>>
i shave my calluses down with my pocket knife. if i let them get too big they rip when i'm deadlifting and leave very sensitive painful exposed skin. just keep your calluses under control and you don't need gloves. the pain comes and goes you just have to put up with it.
>>
I moved a few months back and had to change gym. I've never used gloves and never really had calluses. I lift 1.5/3/4.5/5
The bars in my new gym look the same but on bench my hands kept slipping out towards the plates. The knurl looks normal but I just can't grip it. Bought gloves and now my hands don't slip although I've started developing hard core calluses.

Nothing makes sense, buy them if you think they'll help.
>>
I cycle gloves

I lift without gloves for a few months, once calus has formed I start wearing gloves, this make the calus go away and then I stop using gloves rinse and repeat

Best way to keep them under control
>>
not OP but
>thumb is just 5cm long
>"just grab the bar properly XDDDD"
it's impossible. I still don't wear gloves though
>>
>>48306579
If you are using free weights, benching or anything with free movement don't be afraid to use them. For machines they are kinda useless but otherwise they are great especially if you are working with bigger weights

>cycle gloves
>boost one one pair for 2 weeks
>cruise on a more plushy pair for 5 weeks

I get that people get bad calluses from deadlifts, but benching?
>>
Learn how to grip the bar you dyel
>>
Pumice and moisturizer.

I climb and do weighted pullups on fiberglass rock rings 5 days a week, plus I had a cheap Chinese trap bar I bought for farmer's carries with brutal kerning. Needless to say, my hands were fucked, but this worked. I used gloves sometimes but they made it harder to grip than bare + chalk.

Wearing gloves is for boomers and homosexuals
>>
>>48306969
grip strength is weaker using the finger grip
plus, you'll just develop calluses on your fingers
>>
>>48306579
gloves are for sissies, fact.
>>
>>48307122
the point is, if I'm much of a cocksucker to wear gloves, then you shouldn't be one either
Just get the goddamn calluses and live with them

You can wear gloves as long as they match your purse.

>>
>>48306652
It hurts for now, but your hands get tougher and rougher as you keep lifting, till eventually you don’t feel pain.
>>
>>48306969
How are you suppose to bench 100kg when it looks like it’s resting on nothing but the skin between your thumb and fingers? I’ve tried this before and it felt like it was going to just slip straight through my fingers.
>>
Fuck these guys

I wear gloves because I have hyperhydrosis on my hands which means they sweat a shit ton. I fucking hate lifting with sweaty hands because the bar slips and could fuck me up. So I wear gloves.

But if you don’t have sweaty hands and still wear gloves then you’re a fag
>>

may you explain please sir
>>
>>48307871
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZBmiQm4MF4
It's fucking simple. If you're pulling you put the bar near your fingers, if you're pushing you put it deep in your palm. You do this since if you hold the bar still long enough gravity will do its thing and put it there for you. So stop fucking around and learn how to grip properly.
>>
>>48307700
You are not supposed to use that grip for benching ...
>>
>>48307892
Surely this will result in lowered grip strength on the bar
>>
>>48307979
Nope. It's going to slide to your fingers anyway, so just start it there so that it doesn't have to slide and take your skin with it.
>>
>>48308014
yeah makes sense I guess, will give it a go next week. Thanks friend.
>>
>>48306579
just lift for longer and get used to it , it doesn't even hurt that bad lol

I sometimes do use gloves but only while benching heavy shit
>>
>>48306652
Posting this confirms you have zero grip strength and likely have a sub 3pl8 pull. please leave.
>>
>>48306579

Gloves are useless and weaken your grip for strength exercises. I only use gymnastic straps for muscleups.

When you grip the bar in pull exercises (ei deadlift, pullup, rows) Make sure you're not scrunching your skin. Don't twist your hand and grip using your fingers. This way you'll gain grip strength while getting fewer calluses
>>
>>48306579
I wear gloves on DLs +2pl8 only. I don't feel bad about it
>>
>>48306579
I don't wear gloves, but I've considered it in the past. I play the violin, and it's kinda shitty after deadlifts.
>>
Make sure you get ones that match your purse haha

I got blisters first couple of weeks of starting lifting but they're fine now. Any that I get mostly go away by the end of the day.

Holding the bar correctly prevents excessive callus buildup.
