You will never advance past intermediate stage with this routine.

If you end a set because you hit a certain number, then it was not a good set.
Let’s say you train to failure, and you fail on the 12th rep. In this case reps 1-9 were junk volume, and did not stimulate any growth whatsoever.
If you do 5-8 reps but you really could have done 12, you will run out of noobie gains and stop growing completely, and very quickly.
