My squat is unironically less than my bench press, and I don’t even skip leg day or anything either. What could I be doing wrong? I’ve tried to get my form and stance right but I just can’t go all the way down with much weight compared to my bench.
>>
>>77280794
how much do you squat and bench? what kind of rep ranges are you doing?
>>
>>77280797
I bench 190 4x6 and squat 155 4x6, I can squat more if I don’t go down till my legs are parallel but I’m pretty sure that doesn’t count
>>
>>77280807
No, you definitely want to hit adequate depth every time you squat. How long have you been lifting, and how often do you do each movement? Do you ever squat as your first exercise of the day? Assuming that you perform both lifts with equal frequency, I would say that you should keep doing what you're doing, and your squat will most likely catch up to and then surpass your bench in the near term. For me, there were some psychological hurdles to overcome when I was learning to squat, but once I felt confident in my technique and I was doing it consistently, I was able to make a pretty quick jump to over 2pl8 and beyond.
>>
>>77280827
About 8 months consistently but off and on before that. For my routine I do both 2x a week and both are the first in that days routine. And what do you mean by psychological hurdles? Just realizing you can go down that much with more weight without injuring yourself?

It's clear that you're not giving legs the same love, the same intensity, as chest. You probably go all out for chest and give it your absolute best but just show up and go through the motions with legs lol. I know because I used to be in a similar situation, with 160kg bench max but only 150kg squat max.

Id say if you're struggling with depth you need to leave your ego at the door for a while and use less weight but focus on full ROM, and build up from there. Learn how to properly power out at the bottom of the rep, with the ass cheeks engaged and all. Even if it means you go all way back down to 100kg. and cut back on benching for a while and do more legs instead, give legs a little more focus for a few months. eat big, but if you got it all way to 155 I don't need to tell you how to eat and train anyway lol

and if you hate leg day then do your best to make it a day you like. I found walking lunges to be absolute torture, despised doing them, so I got rid and now I like leg day. I like leg press so I do that. I like pull ups too so I do some of those after squats, which also happens to be good for spinal decompression

>>
>>77280807
Just do what you can parallel, but keep adding 1.25kg every time you squat and do high volume. Also look into if your glutes are firing and if you brace your core.

Will lifting get me a wide hipped Latinx girlfriend?
>>
>>77280832
Yeah, basically just getting very comfortable and confident with your technique/bracing etc. For me, it took some getting used to having an increasingly heavy barbell on my back, and I used to tweak my lower back occasionally due to improper bracing. Just keep at it, and your squat will definitely go up.
>>
>>77280807
Nothing wrong with this. Having a squat higher than BP is gay. You should focus mostly on arms and torso while treating legs as an accessory. Every day is curl day.
>>
>>77280838
For me, heavy squats are great for getting my back warmed up for pull ups. I suppose it might be from the bracing component. If I get to the gym and want to do pull ups first thing, it usually takes me about 10 minutes of warm ups before I can hit a max rep set of like 12, but I've found that I can get close to this right after doing heavy back squats.

Great advice with the pull ups but you're forgetting that 99% of this board are too fucking fat to do any pull ups

>give legs a little more focus for a few months. eat big, but if you got it all way to 155 I don't need to tell you how to eat and train anyway lol
Nta but im 76kg and bench 100kg x 5-6 reps for 2 sets and i can only squat 90kg x 6 reps. I'm kinda lean and look good in medium t-shirts but i hate being so weak on the squats. What the fuck should i do? Eating more will just make me fat and i do eat good food (4 eggs with sourdough in the morning, chicken rice lunch and beef and rice for dinner) What the fuck should i do? I wanna get strong but nothing is working. And yes my diet is great and i try really hard in the gym. I was doing candito when i was serious into training last year and nowadays i do upper/lower x4 per week
>>
>>77280794
Do the supplimental work adductors primarily if it's a shaky squat, glutes and what not. Then experiment a bit if you have bad leverages for squat you can still do front squat, heels elevated squat, hack squat and whatever else. If back squat isn't working don't try to force it to because it rarely ends well.

Eat more lol. You'll never get anywhere strength wise if you're obsessed with staying lean all year round. Don't be scared of some fat gain, you can strip off that fat later but keep the strength. Just like tom platz said, you've gotta get out of shape to get in shape.
>>
>>77281432
lean is law
>>
>>77281432
as a former fatty, the thought of gaining weight is revolting. It's a strong visceral reaction. I can't go back. I'll never go back.
>>
>>77281330
Are you actually pushing hard on the squats? If you always complete the set number of reps, you can just go heavier. It doesn’t even have to be to full failure. On the way down, you can nope out of it or even know when lifting it off the rack.

Have you tried leg press? It takes the form and back out of the question and you should be to do more weight and see how weak your legs really are.

jeets saying "timmy" will never be not funny
holy fuck you retards are completely oblivious on how fucking pathetic you sound

I usually just ignore them. The secret is to not even react to it. It doesn't work on you yet they seethe every time you say something bad about them because they know its true.

I feel like I've hit my knees' limit
I'm 175cm 75kg and I can leg press 120x12 and can do more in strength workouts but whenever I do strength the quad insertions around the knee start aching like shit

Actually we're already doing that with g*y please don't split effort. Nobody cares about 'timmy'.

>Pull ups for spinal decompression
No
But you are right that the discs in your spine are compressing while you aquat
>>
>>77281454
>Are you actually pushing hard on the squats?
Well i'm at the point that I can't do any more reps in my top set and my form starts breaking down if i try so i would say yes, my knees also cave in when im coming up when the weight gets a little heavier

>Have you tried leg press?
Actually i have been only doing leg extentions and leg curls as accesories and some abs then i get out of the gym, 2 sets on everything

>>77281959
Are pull ups not good for spinal decompression? I thought you'd be getting all the benefits of dead hangs on those sets of pull ups?
>>
>>77280827
>No, you definitely want to hit adequate depth every time you squat
This, this and this.

If you want to actually build good legs and get legit strong you need full depth. Unironically, a 2pl8 squat at full depth is doing more for your legs than a shitty half rep 3pl8 squat. You're genuinely wasting time doing half reps, might as well skip that session altogether if that's what you're doing.

For a while you should use less weight and focus on your form and build back up to the big weight if you're serious about getting your legs upto par
>>
>>77283618
With a RoM like that it would basically be pause squats.

At best you're getting a second of decompression each time you bottom out

My advice is just don’t squat. One of the best decisions I made in the gym was giving up squatting. I still hit legs tho
