I just bought one and it's unironically the best monitor I've ever used in my life. Nothing else comes even close to the quality of this thing. And that's not even considering the build quality of the stand and how smooth the height adjustment is. How is it that Apple always so far ahead of the entire computer industry with their high end products?

They get paid for that. Nobody is spending thousands anymore on Apple's overpriced crap to do things a windows/linux machine can do for much cheaper.

Messing around with meme coding with qwen3.5 35b. How does this stack up compared to the paid stuff?

>>
>>108353375
moe models are easier to run
unironically just use llama.cpp and ask whatever flavor of corpo LLMs for args with your pc spec lol

dense i mean 27B models, they will crush 35B-A3B any day for jobs like coding but you need at least 16GB vram for a good experience
moes are memes
>>
>>108353395
yeah i remember trying to get them running with llama.cpp and claude code hooked up to it via some router program. no end of problems. maybe im too retarded, its certainly possible.
kept running out of ram on 2x older 24gb cards.

Also is all qwen 3.5 just moe? The 27b versions are just quants? Also vision is just wasted data and training, so the code only version is still qwen 2.5 or something?
>>
>>108353528
~to 27B it is dense
from 35B-A3B they are all moe
and 27B is number of parameters, quants mean they have parameter precision compromised, does not mean lower params
and just use qwen3.5, not qwen3 coder

seriously just run 27b dense Q5 on a single gpu and that will be more than enough for you

I just bought a portable a/c. It has wifi functionality so I can set a timer on it and control it from an app. i have an openwrt gl.inet router, and a spare laptop that can only run windows 10, is there a way to monitor what this portable a/c is doing through something like wireshark? I just want to track how much GB of data it's using to see if it's doing anything shady like becoming part of a Chinese vpn botnet.

Any ideas on how I would go about not only isolating this portable a/c to a very limited wifi network, but also monitoring the traffic it's sending back to the chinese servers?

Pic unrelated. It doesn't use alexa or google home, just some chinese android app.
>>
You can do everything from the OpenWRT router. Create an isolated VLAN, configure a separate Wifi SSID and assign it to the VLAN, and then, monitor the traffic from the router and do packet captures from it. Install Gentoo on the laptop.

https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/vlan/switch_configuration
https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wifi/basic
https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/services/network_monitoring/bwmon
https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/firewall/misc/tcpdump_wireshark
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:Main_Page

You should be running a separate VLAN for all IoT devices, regardless of origin, given the infrequency of updates and the frequency with which these devices are abandoned and eventually compromised.
>>
>>108353123
you don't need a special router. as long as you're connected to the same wifi network, you can send a packet telling the device you're the router now. then all packets are routed via your computer. but I expect electronical devices to use encrypted communications, so it'll still be harder since they may rely on certificates.

Yes, the Chinaman ABSOLUTELY wants the gold mine of information that is safely concealed inside your Appalachian shanty.

You are right to be paranoid. West Virginia hillbillies have been specifically targeted by these malicious home appliances. A state actor may have even intercepted the package while in transit in order to plant special backdoors.

Think this is the frist time Apple has made something that I actually want to buy and might actually be willing to pay MSRP for. I want a nice screen, a battery that isn't garbage, and an operating system that's not Windows. All I'll end up doing with it is watching Jellyfin, streaming games over Moonlight, and watching porn so honestly I don't see a much better option at the price point. Where's the catch bros, make me hate Apple again

Oled is in every phone, has been for a long time, even the shitty low end ones anyone can afford, so why are oled monitors and TVs still so expensive? Picrel is 16 years old and uses oled

>>
>>108352498
OLED monitors are like $200 though?
>>
>>108352498
It's the size. The factories that make OLED have to cut it out of a giant sheet and not have a single dead pixel. Small phones are easier to produce, but when you get to monitors and tvs the risk increases
>>
>>108352498
I bought an LG C2 for like $500 used on Marketplace. Everyone was warning me about burn in, but I basically leave this on all the time and it's still perfect. Occasionally I'll see some shadows if I've got grey background on something, but then I turn it off to let it run through it's pixel cleaning process and it's back to 100% with no shadows. One of the best electronics purchases I've ever made. The only regret is that it makes my other displays look terrible
>>
>>108353529
You'd think that the high pixel density of phone screens would make them more difficult to manufacture and the much smaller pixels would be more prone to manufacturing issues though, is this not the case? Obviously a physically larger object will take more material to make, but I kind of doubt that's where most of the cost goes to.
>>
>>108352498
My phone is an IPS screen and it looks better than old Samsung super amoled. The colors look much more natural. On the Samsung colors were over-saturated and too warm.
