If you have a Samsung then the only real option is to get a Samsung watch. These digital watches are pretty much made for the phones that's made by the manufacturer.

Gay. The Samsung ones are ugly. I like the block/square aesthetic. Round makes sense for a round analog dial, not a small phone.

using my 12 pro max till it dies. battery at 82% because my retarded ass used beta software for months. but new battery next year if it gets worse. had nexus 6p, died in a year (bootloop), pixel xl had audio issues(2 units useless). only good android ive ever used was the z3, followed by me purple z2. no android for me anymore.

xperia vi just got announced btw

what was Sony thinking

>>
>>100485676
It's a corporate phone. All the Sony devices go along Japanese corporate structures:

- management gets 1 and 5 phones
- workers get 10 series with a gazillion of battery life so they can be always reachable

Then there's corporate contracts and they deploy the devices there

What do you mean? The official announcements were today, and as far as I know the price is exactly the same as 1V on launch in every major market. Here preorders start tomorrow, the price is the same as 1V but no word on preorder bonus, I really hope they still give you headphones with it because if the rumor about some shitty movie subscription being the only perk then I might actually not buy it.
4k is not maybe necessary but 1080p is a bit of a joke.
At least it's got really nice macro capability now.

>450 euro at launch (based on 10 V launch pricing in my country)
You can get a way more powerful phone for less. Unless you only care about multimedia and need your SD Card, 3.5mm jack and 21:9 ultra wide screen.
Myself? I'd rather have a more powerful chip than SD slot and headphone jack. If you're spending over 300 euro on a phone then surely you can also afford some 30-50 euro chink wireless buds instead of 5 euro wired stinkbuds from the supermarket.

it doesn't have a notch or a hole
it has a 3.5mm jack(well ok debatable since the last one was shit but apparently they improved it)

literally no other competition exists with those two things AND competent cameras, no idea why chinks gave up on them in their flagships, you'd think at least one would still have those to stand out

The downgrade to 1080p means this FLAGSHIP $1500 phone now has a worse screen than chink midrangers with 1220p screens.
The screen was always one of the big differentiators between midrangers/discount flagships and true flagships. But snoy just threw that away.

SD 8 gen 3 chip for that price is a bargain. The screen and battery sound amazing from the reviews I've read. The cameras appear to be really good too. I think it's a great option and you should go for it if you can handle the software. It's definitely more chinkified and custom than Motorola's. Hell, it was hard at first for me to get used to OneUI after switching to Samsung from my Moto Edge 20's damn near stock android 13 experience.

Apple tried with the 12 mini. Sales were abysmal. Tried again with the 13 mini, better than the 12 mini in every way. Sales were still abysmal.
Can't fault them for not trying, they were compact flagships in the same sense the Z compacts were: they only cut back what they couldn't fit in.

I wish ASUS weren't trash and didn't lock the bootloader. If the 10 were slightly smaller and had an unlockable bootloader (as promised) it would be perfect.

As it stands, is Pixel the only truly viable option now when it comes to privacy thanks to the extensive custom ROM support?
I'm tempted by the 4a since it has a headphone jack but my understanding is it would generally be considered a bad move to go that route if I want long term support.

Had a Zenfone 8, great phone, fast, conveniently small, good camera, good battery, headphone jack. Unfortunately it broke just after two years, from what I've read it was either the mobo or the cpu and I wasn't the only one with this issue, sent it in for repairs, at least they fixed it for free. Lasted another 6 months and broke again. Unfortunate, considering my old Zenfone 4 still works and saved my ass. At that point I just gave up, for how expensive it was that was a huge letdown, got a cheap motorola instead, shit camera, but for the price it does everything I need.
I'll consider another Asus product only after I can trust they're not putting in kill switches

Is this a thing with Moto smartphones? I had a Moto Edge 20 for 2 years and straight out of the box it had way worse battery life than my previous Redmi Note 8 Pro, I assumed normal due to the brighter 144hz OLED screen and smaller battery, but by the end it was fucking horrible with it barely lasting 3 hours of SoT on 5G. Seems they're really pushing for battery life with this version. There were likely some cost cut reasons too since they were the only ones getting screens made in the aspect ratio they were originally doing. It also keeps games from burning up the phone rendering too much.
But kinda weird they're pushing creator nonsense for the 1 but then they reduce the pixel resolution, when managing that shit really benefits from resolution density. But maybe that doesn't matter when you're just going to fat finger anything too detailed.

Is this a series issue? Battery/charging module problem?
Also please recommend me a substitute in case the repair is too expensive.
I'm looking for something that has
- similarly good/better camera(this is quite important)
- similarly big battery capacity
- headphone jack
- SD card support
Don't really gaym or do anything demanding on the phone so that's not a concern. Bonus point if it's smaller, definitely CAN'T be bigger.

I think google's entire thing with offloading OS deployment to the manufacturer instead of having one OS that loads the appropriate firmware for the phone is a massive india-tier crock of shit. Including making you delete everything "for security" to install a third party OS.

Just whatever they decided "FHD+" means. I've seen 1080x2340 in a table but I don't know the source.
I think they said cinema app update was coming later with next android release. I've watched some other preview reviews of it and most seem fine with the record modes coupled with the optical zoom. There was also the wank about AI involvement in eye and movement tracking, since you can't realistically focus follow on a phone.

Moto G84 is almost exactly $250. The main drawback is that it can only shoot video up to 1080p30, due to the very old and very midrange chip inside, while every chinkmi midranger (like the Poco F5, Redmi Note 13 Pro+, Poco X6 Pro, etc.) can do 4k30 and 1080p60 due to their much better and newer chips.

Because you have to compromise, even if you disregard price, genius.

higher PPI -> smaller pixels -> lower brightness+efficiency
dumb 4k resolution that only 1 manufacturer wants -> custom panel -> no economies of scale -> can't use latest gen panel -> worse specs

I'm interested in the hardware but fuck hyperos. I used miui from 7 to 12 and it was all buggy shit. Every single xiaomi phone I've used got left with miui bugs that I ran into everyday. That and the bloat being so bad that flashing LineageOS was like adding 2gb ram to the phone.

Will not do a chinkphone again unless it's easily unlockable and has a fully stable other OS with no camera compromise.

A52s mogged every other phone in that year and there were no proper replacements for it until A55 released now. Premium phone in all the aspects that matter.

I only want three things out of a smartphone.
>Android
>8 GB RAM or more

Does nothing like this exist? The closest thing I've found is Blackberry Key2, but only having 6GB of RAM is a dealbreaker.

reading on my zenfone 10 8gb ram, 256gb storage. Loving it so far! got it abt a month ago and smooth sailing. battery life impresses me, even with a 90% charge limit.

couple of nitpicks :

No decently priced screen protectors? (on amazon anyway, the one I have literally covers the screen - only the part of the glass that has pixels behind it. any recommendations?)

No USB3.X??? in 20fucking24. similarly, something like samsung dex would be a godsend.

wireless charging coil - could be larger/moved further down. I have a magsafe ring on my case, but the camera cutout prevents it from reliably charging.

On a wireless charging pad (one that fits 2 phones/watches/whatever) I take the case off, and have to make sure it rests on the lower camera.

software support...........................

>You can use them while charging they generally have a port for that
That sounds interesting.
>And no you will be carrying a second device no matter what, either a second gaming device or a controller to use your phone as a gaming device
That's too bad. I hope we will get an Xperia Play 2 in the future, or perhaps a Key3.
>>100493849
>I think the ROG Phone 7 has air triggers. Not sure which phones have that, but maybe look into gaming phones.
As far as I can tell, it and other gaming phones have <5 air triggers at most and they're not real physical buttons, but something more like a touchpad. I strictly want physical buttons for this.
>Also, why not just get a phone controller thing? Like a backbone?
All such devices I've seen either appear clunky to use or have analog sticks (as opposed to an analog nub like the 3DS or PSP), which would make carrying them in my pocket risky and uncomfortable.

Two of my friends (University age) recently switched to iPhone because "if I'm gonna spend over 1k euro on a phone it might as well be an iPhone". I feel like that represents most people's mentality around here. They start off with budget android phones and then when they start having more money and looking into more premium tech, like for example a flagship-tier phone, they gravitate towards products that would lend them this secondary use - being able to flex with them.
I have an S23. A newer and more expensive phone than the base iPhone 13. Yet I've never had anyone comment on it, they just don't care. It looks the same from the back as the A15 my grandma has anyways. Meanwhile with iPhones you can TELL that they have the Pro because of the iconic triple camera that blew everyone's mind (including mine) when it first came out with the 11 Pro.
>>100494107

This was kind of disjointed because my thoughts are a mess right now. One of the friends got an iPhone 13 base model, that's why I brought that one up. I've seen him get comments about it by randoms.

Normalfags do not care about autistic performances and benchmarks, I don't understand how this is not graspable for people. Nobody cares that the top of the line Samsung/Xiaomi phone mogs the shit out of iPhone, people want to have the blue bubble, the apple logo, and the gay rep that comes with it. If you enter a gay club with an android phone you will never get the hottest hunks breeding your bussy.
>>
>>100494357
Anon didn't mention performance
>>
>>100494383
by performance and benchmarks i mean everything including battery, camera, storage space, ram amount, storage amount, cpu/gpu, vidya benchmarks. Literally nobody cares about that except for 1% incels, the point of a phone is to be a social/communication/public device that others see and that reflect your wealth and style. the ONLY thing that matters in the phone is the logo and how it looks in your hands

You know how phone screens and backs are made of Corning Gorilla Glass and shit, right? What are tempered glass screen protectors made of, also Corning Gorilla Glass?
Or are they not allowed to call it that unless it's actually made in the Corning region of NY in the USA? So it's just sparkling monkey glass or something?
>>
>>100494501
I don't know how people that have zero social life feel so confident talking about normalfags entirely based off of social media posts they've watched. People absolutely do care about the cameras and battery life on their phones, the former especially.
>>

Not much. Especially since you can transfer files through Bluetooth using quick share. Probably way faster than doing it wired.

>>
>>100494593
you are projecting, and i am 100% right. literally nobody cares about any of that. the indian you see on youtube crying about his battery life on the gimped indian version is not representative of reality in EU/US/OCE. any mid range or high end android/ios phone has adequate cameras and battery that normalfags are completely content with except for a few 1% incels into gaymin or 1% ethots obsessed with socials. If you think the average normalfag will pick a xiaomi phone over an iphone just because it has a better camera or battery life you are incredibly mentally unwell and NEED to go outside
>>
>>100494983
Just because burgerstanis can't imagine buying an android that doesn't mean they don't care about camera quality or battery life. They just have zero clue about what other phones offer because they live in a (blue) bubble. Also helps that apple is pretty good on both the camera and battery life fronts.
>>
Literally no normalfags in US/Europe give a shit what phone you have.
That sort of behaviour is reserved for India/China.

the best advice would unironically be to just stop caring about tech/phones in general and avoid any discussion about it on 'chan, youtube, twitter, reddit whatever shithole you browse. for me though I consistently just use samsung and upgrade to the next flagship every 4 years, werks for me and I don't think I'd ever be able to bother porting all my shit over to another ecosystem when I've been using my mix of Samsung/Google/Microsoft for so long and have so many contacts, passwords, and quirks/changes made. My rationalization is that I'm not a fan of iOS and it's too restricting/suffocating compared to android, while on android's side I will never use chink shit, and the only real alternatives to chink shit are Samsung and Google, and imo Samsung is just better and Google is way too raw in comparison.

Odd question but why are photos and videos I'm transferring from my Android phone (Galaxy Z Flip 5) a smaller file size when they get to my PC?
It's not a large discrepancy, like maybe 0.6-0.9 MB, but I'm curious as to whether there's some compression at work
>>
>>100496227
Maybe it's a file system thing? I haven't noticed it on my Android phone specifically, but I have noticed video games having vastly different sizes between my PC (Windows) and my Steam Deck (Linux). Android is based on Linux too, so I might be onto something.
>>
>>100496253 (me)

After being transferred from one device to the other with FTP, I mean. And the difference is substantial, like 10-20% or so bigger on Steam Deck compared to PC.

My best guess is that ext4 and NTFS are storing slightly different values in their metadata tables that your file managers are reading from.

Other culprits could include metadata being stripped from the files as you transfer them? Or maybe your file managers themselves are calculating the file size slightly differently?

>yes i'm an islave to just works
Every phone just works. Except for iPhones, they work really bad with Windows and Androids so that you buy more Apple products.
>yes i'm an islave to long software support
iPhone gives a phone the most up-to-date version of iOS for 5 years. That last 5th version of iOS it gets will be supported by apps for another 1-2 years before its completely irrelevant. In that time Apple has probably throttled your phone's performance to shit but that's not the point.

Most Android phones usually get 2-4 years of Android updates from the year they're released. Except Pixel and Samsung that get 7 years of updates. The difference is that most apps support most versions of Android going as far back as Android 5. So if you've had a phone from 2014, you would've had 9 years of support so far. Facebook app on the iTunes App require iOS 14 (2020) or newer. Twitter on the Google app requires Android 5 (2014) or newer.

And this is why updates don't matter on Android. And even then Pixel and Samsung give 7 years of updates now.
>yes i'm an islave to my hardware not disintegrating
Pic related.
>yes i'm an islave to my manufacturer not bricking my phone
They just slowly throttle the performance behind your back and even got sued hundreds of millions for it.
