YO, am upgrading the ol' x2700x workhorse and going up to the 5XXX series, but am debating between the 5800x and the 5700x3D. They're both essentially the same price in my country, however my only "concern" (rumored) is the 3D cache on the 5700x3D not being useful on a majority of the games I play, since I play a lot of older titles and want to use some of the more powerful emulators (reliant on high clock speeds obv). Is the higher base clock speed of the 5800x that much of a benefit as to snuff the 5700x3d, or is it neglegible and I should just nose dive for the x3d?>sorry for blogpost

Yes, but this is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than 13 years ago when lower priced units basically never give their rated power. 250w units disguised as 500w units was a pretty common occurrence, you also had units that may deliver rated power but was out of ATX spec in efficiency, ripple or regulation, which is a very low bar.The fact I can go on amazon get a "segotop" PSU that will deliver its power, be actually updated to newer ATX standards and be safety certified by UL/TUV is something else.

>>102426925I think most people will not be happy with a 8600g APU, it's basically half the FPS of a 3050 6gb, but you pay for what you get (the cpu costs the same as a 3050), but if you buy a 6650 XT or 4060, expect 4x more fps (2x more than a 3050 6gb).The main benefit of the 3050 is if you buy a used prebuilt that only has PCB power, since the 3050 6gb does not require power cables (if you look for a prebuilt, any 4 core CPU, make sure it has a nvme slot, and make sure you have 2 ram sticks, you might be able to find it for $50, but otherwise you could consider building the PC using a aliexpress xeon CPU, not good for games that are limited by 1 cpu core like minecraft or factorio or x86box, but a xeon v4 should be able to reach like 80fps in cyberpunk, you barely hit 80fps with a 3050 6gb at the lowest 1080p settings, but it's not that cheap when you price the cost of the NVME, case, cooler, you want 4 ram sticks because xeons have 4 channels, not 2, and it's probably going to have trouble with windows 11 because of old hardware, but it should work and it's 1/4th the cost of buying a intel 12100f or ryzen 7600, excluding nvme/case/psu/gpu).

>>102429300You might like 27", but personally if your original monitor was 60 fps, buying a 24" 1080p monitor with more than 144hz will be a significant improvement, and it's cheap as dirt. However 24" is a pretty small monitor. If you have $1k to throw, and you spend a lot of time in the dark, assuming you have a $2000 PC, buy a OLED monitor. It's overpriced as shit, and people who hate OLED will tell you that burn-in will force you to replace the OLED immediately after the warranty expires, but personally QD-OLED seems to be resisting burn in pretty decently (it's only been a year, but it's basically an LCD panel but with an OLED backlight, I think?, traditional OLED/AMOLED would have a separate LED per red, blue, and green), also because QD-OLED uses an lcd panel, it also looks good with fonts on windows.IPS however looks 80% the same as OLED in a bright room, you need the displays side by side to notice. IPS uses one big backlight so in the dark it's going to glow, but it's not that noticeable if there are enough bright objects, the whole screen needs to be pitch black for your eyes to start seeing the glow, and it also helps if you lower the brightness on your IPS. So basically if you are really into Horror or space or stealth media, and you always watch in a pitch black room, oled will make a big difference.mini-led is an option since it's like QD-OLED except the backlight uses a low resolution. The cheapest $300~ mini-led's are like 300-500 zones, while the macbook pro which had a lot of criticism about the halo effect had 10k zones (it still looked amazing however).$300 mini led for reference (300 zones): AOC Q27G3XMN 27"$100 1080p G2412F (lacks displayport, you need displayport for nvidia because this isn't a gsync monitor, it's gsync compatible, but only compatible with displayport, HDMI 2.1 supports gync, but 1080p monitors don't need more than hdmi 1.4)$120 AOC 24G4, it includes displayport, I own this monitor, it has a dead green pixeldunno oled
>>102430452>lacks displayport*I mean it lacks the cable. You gotta spend $5 on it.
>>102430452>G2412F I don't know why but I thought it had an adjustable stand, but if you spend $20 on a vesa mount (it could even be on the used market), it's going to be 10x better than any stand you get.

>>102430980you could be correct around 2016-2020, but intel and AMD are basically the same thing at the moment.Undeniably however 13th and 14th gen CPU's are a flop, but 12th gen has always been the best option in bang per buck (but I would suggest ryzen for the high end CPU's because I don't trust e-cores, but high end CPU's are not good in terms of cost per frame, you need to buy a 4070 ti or better for it to really matter).also who reads reviews? just look at the numbers.

I'm debating whether to just move over to AM5 now and get a fully new PC or to just swap my GPU from a 4070 to a 4080S. Will probably do this (if i decide to) after the 5000's are revealed. This is my current build and for newer games at 3440x1440p @ 120fps the 4070 seems to be kinda struggling now, -> https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/VHZKygIf I was going to buy a completely new one i was looking at https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/QVQ9sh and just carrying over all my storage, CPU Cooler, and maybe the case depending on the 4080S' size.
