I have 2 intakes, and 2 exhausts, and the CPU is running on a Wraith Spire (came with my original R5 1500x)CPU temps while gaming are like 85-87 C, which isn't high as such, but the whole case seems to heat up, which leads me to think it's an airflow problem than a cooling one.Should I just put in better/more fans or go and buy a CPU cooler? I'm a poor fag so the former is more enticing to me.

>>102515032the AMD/intel stock coolers are notoriously bad. You can get a better cpu cooler + fans for about the same price as just adding more fans which won't really do much in terms of temps anyway, considering you already have 4 fans installed. I'm a sff-fag with only 2 exhaust fans and my cpu never goes above 65°C.But it could also be that your case has inherently shitty airflow, can you post an image of it?

>>102515237I would argue something that fits that bill would be portable media players, and audio equipment. That’s a whole other general on here, but chi-fi genuinely is at times better than or at least equal to the high end traditionally American or European brands.Companies like Hifiman and Fiio hold up against the likes of Audeze and Astell & Kern very well. And at times offer better products for less money in terms of capability and quality.
>>102515180Not him. 5120x2880 would be plain DSR, doesn't need DLDSR. DLDSR is for non integer ratio downscaling. 1920p and 2160p are examples of DLDSR resolutions if you're starting from 1440p. DLDSR incurs a couple of FPS cost, whereas I don't think DSR does, or at least it's less.>then DLSS on qualityThere's no way you're running 2880p with DLSS Quality in anything remotely demanding. That's substantially more pixels than 4K, which is 2160p. You'd probably start with DLSS Performance if you're targeting 2880p, which will have an input of quarter resolution, so 1440p input. Of course the input reconstructed to a higher resolution will always be better than the input resolution itself. When I've used DLDSR, it's mostly been either 1920p or 2160p. Games don't have seem to have problems at those resolutions, e.g., with the UI. Often I'll use 4K as the target res. The image quality of 4K DLSS Performance > 1440p DLSS Quality at similar performance most of the time. With a 3080 if you're playing slightly older games, you can hit 4K DLAA, Quality, or Balanced pretty often if you're looking under 100 FPS. For newer games, even Performance will be unlikely unless you're also optimizing settings

>>102515282Again this gets into iemg territory, but something like moondrop starfields a couple years ago weren’t some flashy fashion item picked up by techtubers. They were discovered by audio hobbyists, and pushed into the mainstream in the audio community because as a product they were genuinely that good. They came out as cheap, really good sounding iems that competed against iems that cost hundreds of dollars more at the time. It’s like if one day one of the Chinese GPU manufacturers dropped a card that performed like a 4070, but cost $250. What that would do is inspire the previously dominant companies to drop prices or increase features, and open the floodgates for other Chinese gpu manufacturers to cut out their slice of a now disjointed market. That’s what cheap chi-fi did over the last few years. Now there’s a bunch of them, a lot of which are mainstream for all markets, and started getting companies like Sony, Bose, AKG, sennheiser, beyerdyanmic, etc to start looking at how they can innovate with their products to compete in that market. Prices went down, new items came out that were more appealing and competed with the chi-fi. It’s why sennheiser did all those massdrop collaborations, cheaper products tailored towards the same market that the chi-fi brands went after. That’s what china did well in tech recently. I don’t write them off entirely for being able to do the same for other markets. It’s more a matter of has a product been discovered, mass produced and marketed, more than has it been made yet.

>>102515353They’re on both, the cpu and the motherboard will have separate usb controllers. The motherboard one will work through the chipset. Not 100% sure how you’d test which is which? You might be able to figure it out by disabling chipset features entirely, no pcie slots after 1, no sata, no audio, and in turn no USB, leaving the only functional ports as the ones connected to the cpu.And if none of your usb ports work then, it’s the cpu ones that are done for.Though a cheaper solution if you need usb ports back and something’s wrong with your current ones is just to get a pcie usb card with its own usb controller.

>>102515507No, they’re not smart or anything. If you disabled the chipset usb controller, any ports it controls will stop working entirely. And adding a usb controller won’t change that, a usb controller card only runs the ports it has onboard. There are ones that have front panel usb 3.0 and type C though, if you just want your front panel to work normally. This is cheaper than replacing a motherboard
>>102515530Okay that makes sense. Is it pretty straightforward to disable the onboard USB controller? Not sure if that's a BIOS thing or if I'd need to go into device manager to do that
>>102515543Should be a bios setting to enable or disable certain chipset features and USB, that will depend on the motherboard though. My old evga z590 dark had options to do all that stuff in the name of power saving because of the type of board it is, but not every board will have that ability.

They won't load your games any faster but can be invaluable for write-intensive workloads. The main difference between them will be in how long they can sustain that 7GB/s+ write speed. If that's something that matters for your use-case then check detailed reviews and testing. Consider PCIe 5 as well.Mid tier: For mid-high range gaming or low-IO workstation tasksSN770, SN580, MP44, FX900, MP600, 3D TLC drives with weaker controllers eg. E16, E21TThese typically have sequential R/W speeds in the 5GB/s region. Some feature onboard DRAM with older/cheaper controllers while some use HMB. Currently WD's HMB implementation seems to be the best with the SN770 being almost as fast as the top tier in sustained sequential. Some will be 1st gen PCIe 4 drives being sold at a discount (eg. yo i hate being that guy but I wanted to ask because I'm not getting any traction anywhere else.So I have a recent pre-built I acquired with an MSI Pro Z790-P WIFI motherboard in it. I updated drivers as per instructions I received b/c of the whole Intel 13/14 Gen Processor debacle. Part of these steps said to make sure XMP was enabled in Bios.I got the correct bios installed and everything (newest, non-beta version for my MB) I set the XMP to be enabled to Profile 1 (from [DISABLED]), and I saw that there were a couple of "Clock" and "Offset" options that were being enabled as I was exiting out of the BIOS. Ofc, I clicked "Yes" to exit, b/c I saw that XMP was now set to Profile 1.That being said, now when I'm running my PC, even if I'm not gaming, even if I set G-Helper to run in Silent mode, it sounds like the PC is low-key going to take off. It's quieter than my gaming laptops (2021 Zephyrus G14 and 2023 Zephyrus M16), and the highest temp I see is I think CPU at 76°C when doing intense gaming but still... should I be concerned? (HWinfo)Is there a way to tune down the fans using G Helper to get something a little quieter while still getting decent gaming experience? Or do I need to screw around in BIOS more. When I try to do fans + Power option, it says like "Custom power curves not allowed on this model"For reference, the Advanced Power options/Boost is set to "Efficient Aggressive" in G-Helper, which was something I'm used to setting it to because of the finnicky behavior of the Zephyrus Laptop line, and I uninstalled the power advantage app.Looking for advice, and would like the option to cycle down the excess power when I'm not gaming or playing something simpler like Brawlhalla. Plug everything in then jump the pins to turn it on. If it boots and posts then at least you know your components aren't dead on arrival. Then start building in your case. If it somehow doesn't turn on then you must've plugged in something wrong since you tested it before.A lot of first time builders don't do this shit and they don't know how to troubleshoot the problem. It could be a defective part or a simple cable not being fixed.

Is ayymd going to release cheap gpus any time soon? I don't want to buy second hand mined to death 5 year old 580 and 7600 is kinda trash
>>102518830define cheap.
>>102514743sitting on my gtx 1080 and I'll buy whatever is the best I can get for $600 by christmas sales
>>102518905Like 580 replacement, so around $200 cheap
>>102518739Honestly all of this.Pre-watch some YT Step-by-step guides (@ 1.5X if needed):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1fxZ-VWs2Uhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkr07CutHrUThen bring them up on your phone again propped up beside your work area to follow along as you put things together.

>>102519232>>102518688fuck now I fucked up. now I"M THE RETARD
>>102519014$200 is mobile tier unless you're shopping extreme used and even then a 6700xt used is like $250.
How dangerous actually is it to open up a PSU and change the fan if you've never done it before? I heard that you can just discharge the capacitors by turning on your PC with the power cord unplugged and then it'll be safe
>>102519283yea do that and you'll be fine.
>>102519283usually the fan inside a psu uses a non standard header. so unless you got a fan that uses that exact header or know how to splice cables its not worth it.i opened my psu to lube the fan bearings but i didnt change the fan itself.
I'm gonna play at "NATIVE RESOLUTION"wtf TAA looks like shit wtf MSAA looks like shit wtf FXAA looks like shit wtf SMAA looks like shit wtf FSR Native AA looks like shit I'm gonna play using DLSS Quality Ah, perfect image quality and pristine details. Still playing at "Native" AKA using shitty ancient AA options?
Currently, on bizarro /g/
>>102519575>msaa looking shitwhat the fuck are you on anon
>>102519575Thanks, but I'm still going to play at native resolution with AA off. Accuracy is more important than anything else.
>>102519656Zoomers who haven't used real MSAA in their lives unironically think MSAA is shit It's essentially lost technology now
>>102519575i didnt know jensen was a masonmakes sense i suppose
CPU coolers are so boring, a cooler that came out a decade ago and was top-tier then is still top-tier now, I wanna see tri-tower coolers, and hybrid coolers that have a tower and radiator
>>102519844CPU cooling is already a solved problem because they have IHS. GPU cooling is now all the rage.
>>102519575Stop shitposting & kill yourself, unpaid shill
>>102519283If your fan is already failing your psu is fairly old, consider buying another, take it as a preventive alarmOr if is not that old... Stop smoking
>>102513740Did you get the surgery, does the smell of feces when you dialate?
I'm moving and I'm plugging in 1Gbit fiber, what single device router/ap should I buy? I need good wifi from a single AP
>>102517785Instead of the ducts, you should get a 7900GRE and cut the top part off. The actual chip in right in the middle, so you'll be fine. Just get a dremel and cut the top part of your 7900GRE.
>>102520163Buy a used dell optiplex and chuck quad port nic. Install OPNSense. Now, that'll be the best router in your town. Better if you can get one of those N100 PCs.
>>102519623Not bizzare enough. Where are my RISC bros at?
What's acceptable temperature to run a cpu at?is it at or lower than TjMAX?I heard cpus are made to be able to run hot. Wouldn't this make most cooling solutions useless unless you're trying to OC? I mean if you can run it at 100% under TjMAX and that's all it takes.
Can I use two different brands of ram even if they are the same speed?
>>102520249>is it at or lower than TjMAX?TJmax is what the cpu will be allowed to get to and be considered within specification from the manufacturer (assuming the base clocks are held at that limit - if it runs slower now something is wrong). Anything below that is just a bonus to the end user for opportunistic boosting.
>>102520319You can, but shouldn't as there will be subtiming differences, possibly voltage differences and a host of other tertiary settings that go into ram so you will have to do stability testing.
>>102519844Anon, tell me this, Deepcool AK620 or Cooler Master Hyper 620. Cooler Master is on offer and a lot cheaper and its not as popular. Which one should I get if I'm buying 5950x?
>>102520216and where is the 4x4 wifi transmitters?I want a functioning retail plug and play product not autism shit
>>102520251CPUS think in 1s and 0s. It's either at its temp limit or not. In other words it will continue to opportunistically boost when able unless limited artificially by the user.
>>102520551Oh, okay. Get UniFi. pretty much the best consumer AP in the market right now.
>>102520251since every new cpu is killing itself from overvolting from mobos and boost algos the ideal state is running sub 1.3v vcore and a sub 80c temperaturebut you used to be able to run cpus at 100c for years, but I guess those days are all over with more sensitive chips, or maybe its the volts frying everythingif you are paranoid you gotta take the jewfus/framechaserspill and manual volt everything 1.35v max
>>102520551>retail plug and play productYou might as well let the feds monitoring you in your house. Buy some lube and bend over for the friendly neighborhood fed.
>>102519844I'm still on a random 120mm tower cooler from aliexpress that can keep 120W at 75c

>>102520163I recently got Asus AX6000 for my parents, decent performance and with merlin firmware it's got all the most important features in retard-proof web/app.

>>102521055Yes, but if ak620 is much better, I don't want 4chins to laugh at choosing the RGayB option. Also, not too constrained on budget. Which one performs better though?
>>102521036If nobody delivers a good answer I might just CONSOOM another asus router, I am not happy with the range with the 5Ghz though, maybe one can get a better one with better range there6Ghz and wifi7 might be even more horrible for wall penetration though I hear>>102521052looks like a budget version of the ax88u but kinda not
>>102521107Bruh, instead of a new router, you need a switch and a bunch of access points in every room.
>>102521107It's a rgbt cringe version of the new ax88u pro, exactly the same chips but somehow cheaper because of all the leds. Original ax88u is very different device with first gen ax chips. But just because ax88u pro is supposed to be "lts" with iirc 7 years of updates means merlin will most likely keep porting its firmware to ax6000 even if asus ends its support earlier.Sure I'm not expecting another ac68u with its 11 years of support, but still hoping it will be enough for at least 5 more years.
>>102521228>>102521107Oh and there is a limited EVA-01 edition of ax6000 that is sometimes even cheaper than regular rog-colored version, but 3+1 ending was so disgusting I would not use anything Evangelion even for free. Also>dual input>quad antenna>not EVA-13fucking retards
>>102521189I know that is better but I am moving and I don't need/want/can't wire dedicated ap's in every room and I just want a single router/ap>>102521228it seems to have half the ram of the 88u it's like a 100 euros cheaper than the 88u / pro too4x4 on 2.4 and 5 is good, apparently better for rangeI see complaints about both these tho, like almost all routersidk what to believe anymorebeen using a ax86u for a while
