What is the best cloud storage provider in your opinion and why?
>>
>>102530238
an external hdd ofc
>>
Your home server
>b-b-but muh clouderino
Cloud is just someone else's computer.
>>
if you're only looking for storage, the product offering between cloud storage providers are virtually all identical to each other. just local encrypt and pick one you don't expect to disappear without warning
>>
>>102530238
why not carry a drive or set up a ftp on your computer?
>>
>>102530259
Not the cloud you moron.
>>
>>102530264
In other words, not your home server you stupid idiot.

Nextcloud with encryption.
>>
>>102530275
Because not everyone is a literal retard like you who carries hard drives around.
>>
>>102530290
Not cloud storage you literal moron.

Embarrassing that tards on this board think just because software has cloud in the name means it's literally cloud storage.

>>

If its on the web it's the cloud you dumb fuck, its just that its my cloud not FAGMAN's and five eyes's.
>>
>>102530238
Any cloud service by Google, Amazon, or Microsoft exposes you to a risk of your data being used to train their AI.
>>
>>102530310
>If its on the web it's the cloud
Thank you for proving you're a complete idiot. You have zero understanding what cloud storage is.
>>
>>102530238
If it has an open API that supports rclone and by extension allows client-side encryption, it's good. I use Koofr.
>>
>>102530291
you're the retard here. do you really think the world would function if people didn't take their files with them? do you think internet is 100% reliable?
>>
>>102530291
You should have enough storage on your phone

You are such a goddamn idiot it's scary.
>>
>>102530332
Morons like yourself might be happy to pay a premium for on-board phone storage, but smarter people know better.
>>
>>102530329
You are such a moron it's funny. Keep carrying all your hard drives around and plugging them in and our manually like the idiot you are.

If one needs to accesses their storage via the web as opposed to their LAN, it can be presumed that the server is remote.
>>
>>102530355
Just use RAID storage at home and connect to it from outside then? What the fuck is your problem? Are you perchance poor?

>guys please tell me what to do, I can't choose there are too many colors
>no, not like that! tell me which company to worship, please. a commercial told me I need cloud storage, but I'm not a sucker, so I need the bestest
>>
I back up to both backblaze and amazon. It's convenient since you can use the same API. I'm sure you can use other providers in the same way. I don't think it really matters, but using two providers feels good if you're paranoid. Might as well start with amazon since niggerlicious AWS shit is used everywhere so it's useful to know.
>>
>>102530355
you sound like someone who rely on "smart" device in order to live. like those people who need an app that tells them when to sleep and drink water.

do you even function when the power goes out?
>>
>>102530383
Again, "web" and "remote" are not the same thing you laughable moron. Nextcloud is not cloud storage.
>>
>>102530390
Not cloud storage you stupid idiot.
>>
>>102530431
>if you don't carry a bunch of physical hard drives around with you, that means "you rely on smart devices"
Words cannot even describe how much of an idiot you are.
>>
>>102530390
Not him, but I do run an array at home and use a cloud provider on top of that.
I know you're retarded, but raid is not a backup, and off-site remote storage is critically important if you care about your data. Running raid at home doesn't change that fact.
>>
>>102530484
Run a second server at your other property then? Why are you so hell bent on sucking corpo dick?
>>
>>102530301
Rain and comfy cloudy days
>>
>>102530466
Nextcloud enables "cloud storage" capabilities on any system with storage space. I think a cocksucker like you would be a perfect match for OneDrive or Google Drive.
>>
>>102530238
any opinions on 1 dolla VPS on lowendbox? is it 'infinitely' better than free tiers on OCI/GCP?
>>
>>102530535
>your other property
I know you're an underage retard, but not everyone has spare property to install a server in, and even if they did, it's still not necessarily practical for a wide variety of reasons.

Commercial cloud storage comes with CDN which means upload speed isn't bottlenecked by residential limits. This is an especially big deal for certain countries.

Alas, you are clearly quite dumb. I don't expect you to understand these things because you're one of those privacy larpers who think he has the cabal all figured out.
>>
>>102530597
>Nextcloud enables "cloud storage" capabilities on any system with storage space
So does any remote filesystem you stupid idiot. Why even mention Nextcloud? You can run cloud storage with FTP over SSH.

Nextcloud is a software suite. Only a laughable little idiot like yourself would attempt to claim it as a cloud storage solution.
>>
>>102530597
hey guess what retard? nextcloud also provides API for mounting cloud storage providers.

what kind of "cloud storage" would literally have interfacing for other cloud providers? it's almost like nextcloud isn't actually cloud storage.

dumbass.
>>
>>102530475
>you gotta pay monthly fees to companies for limited space and bottlenecked by internet service

cuck behavior
>>
>>102530845
Again you idiot, if you understood anything about failsafe data management, you would understand the importance of off-site backups.
You are clearly a total moron though.
>>
>>102530348
>>102530298
>my service provider NEEDS to be so abstract I have no idea or understanding of the underlying infrastructure, otherwise I'm confused and don't trust it
>>
>>102530351
Yeah better pay a monthly fee for cloud storage like a genius such as OP.
>>
>>102531528
The disks in his backpack are offsite tho
>>
>>102530238
none, just host it yourself
>>
>>102531722
Idiot.
>>
>>102531793
It's not my problem you are too stupid to understand the benefits of off-site backup.
>>
>>102533531
Not cloud storage, idiot.
>>
>>102532824
Idiot.
>>
>>102533547
What's "cloud" storage?
>>
pcloud/sync.com
Just because of Rclone support and zero-something encryption both.
But "cloud" is a shit. Think carefully: typical person really have to store and transfer just a keepass database, notes.txt file and monero wallet. Do you really need to lean on "ClOuD" jewetry? Just use ffsend/c-v.sh/lainsafe.
(But honestly I need a space to host one 350Mb file to share link with frens and dunno where to do so, but ClOuD is definetely not for me. I just want to upload file and delete it when I want to).
>>
>>102530238
If I can mount it locally as DAVFS, NFS or SMB then it's a win. So far I only have nextcloud (and local storage) and box.
>>
>>102530238
i use backblaze because it's cheap for me and i dont have to waste time trying to understand niggerliciou$ aws pricing schemes.
>>
>>102534454
>sync.com
doesn't support rclone
>>
>>102534646
Wasabi is the same thing but cheaper
>>
>>102534646
>>102535375
Cloudflare R2 is cheaper than both
>>
>>102530238
icloud
>>

>What is the best cloud storage provider in your opinion and why?
My storage array on my own circuits in a remote cabin in the woods. Why? That secret died with Ted.
