Toasting in new bread, I'm thinking about getting a Asrock Pro RS instead of HDV. For RAM, GSkill flare x5, instead of whatever this is. But Adata is CL30 and Gskill is CL40. IDK which ones to choose. Other than memory, ssd and motherboard, I've boughted everything. I'm worried about the RAM and SSD.

Board is your choice, know what extras you're paying for if you move up to the Pro RS (compare features in official spec sheets).
ADATA CL30 kit is better than a CL40 Flare.
Can't comment on Teamgroup SSD. I'm in the US and I like to stick to more mainstream brands, I know most of them fuck around with component swapping.

Fantastic, thanks for the help.
Fortunately I already have a case (salvaged from a friend's old build) and a SSD, so this kind of build puts me comfortably under budget.
Would it be worth going higher end on the GPU for 200-300$ more for this example build or would I also need to go higher on the CPU to avoid a bottleneck there?

My concern isn't so much maximum performance (though performance is nice) as it is futureproofing.

Did you take a look at the actual product you're buying?
Regular A12 and the A14's fan designs have been the same since the early 2010s, you're paying a premium for ancient case fans.
The only Noctua case fans worth buying atm is the NF-A12x25. You need to wait for the newer A14.

hi /pcbg/, I'm looking for recommendations for a budget 240hz monitor with built-in speakers
it doesn't need to be 2560x1440 or 4k, just 27 inches, 240hz, and must have integrated speakers
the shop I usually buy from is sold out of these budget is around 200-300 euros, and this is just for a second monitor

Come on anon, I know you can do better. Get a pair or head phone or some used bookshelf and its going to 10x better. If that's a lot, get a $20 IEM or $25 TWS.

I would upgrade the CPU to a 5700X3D and the video card to at least the RTX 4070 if you're planning for longevity.
Updated list below.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qqvqKX

You can source the CPU cheaper from Alibaba, but there's no warranty coverage because they're sending you a tray processor instead of the boxed consumer version.

7800XT and 7900GRE are Radeon video card alternatives.
You should do some research on the card options.

Yes, I suppose that would be a better alternative. My backup plan was to buy a cheap shamesung monitor and a pair of speakers. Do any of you guys have any suggestions for good cheap speakers?
>>
>>102548882
honestly if your standard for speakers were built-in ones from monitors, just get Creative Pebble v2 or anything that looks good on your desk from Amazon
>>
>>102548882
>Do any of you guys have any suggestions for good cheap speakers?
I wanted to get micca RB42 new but that's for later. ELACs, snoy SSCS-5s or anything that looks old, pioneer, denon, onkyos. See what is available in your area. You'll get better recs from /hpg/ or /iemg/.
>>
>>102548882
Edifier is probably the cheapest speaker brand I would go for. Their high end speakers are shit but they make decent budget ones, like the R1280T or R1700BT.
>>
>>102548882
Get IEMs. Once I started using them and got used to them I can't go back to speakers when I'm front of my PC.

You need to understand that you're buying a ticking time bomb. If you're still okay with that then good for you. I don't actually know if they extended the warranties for new purchases of CPUs or just the ones that was bought before the announcement.
>Corsair 6000MHz CL36 RAM
Slow and overpriced garbage with RGB puke. void Corsair at all cost other than their PSU. A lot of their RGB shit only works on their software which just bloats your PC. Get something faster too. 6000MHz and CL30 is the bare minimum.
>980 Pro SSD
Overpriced. Just get the SN850x. Cheaper and does the same thing.
>Corsair case
A lot of their cases uses non standard parts, like their fan hubs included in the case. No idea what they have in that particular case, but you should know that when you buy anything Corsair it forces you to buy in their ecosystem, as in only Corsair parts will work with Corsair. Which is why I never recommend it.

7800X3D for gaymen. I bought a 7900x for me. Consider 7900x with Asrock B650 or B650E boards.
>>
>>102549113
You need to justify going Intel over AMD when the 13/14th gen instability issues still haven't been fully addressed yet.
The memory kit is terrible for a 14700K, you should be getting at least a 6800MT/s CL34 set for these Intel systems.
6000MT/s CL30, not 36, is recommended for new builders because most chips and boards work at that speed & timing.
AM5's memory recommendations are different.
Overpaying for the SSD, video card, and case.

If you already own the Dark Rock Pro 4, it's whatever. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one now.
This is basically a 2/10 build.

Here's a 7800X3D system with a 4070 Super at a similar cost. I'm not wasting my time setting up an Intel alternative.

https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-battlemage-gpu-leak-shows-2-85-ghz-clock-20-xe2-cores-and-12gb-vram
I'd hesitate to call this an entry-level card if Intel's giving it 12GB, this is probably a $350~400 card at the very least.

Boot up pc
run CPU benchmark for an hour till your cpu is nice and toasty
shut down pc
flip power switch
unplug all the cables
put it on your table
take side panel off
follow cpu cooler directions to remove it (usually just unscrewing some screws with thumbs then twisting gently while trying to raise it until it releases)
clean thermal paste off cooler
follow motherboard directions to release cpu from motherboard
pull out cpu
throw it in the garbage
unscrew the bracket screws for GPU using fingers
press the little tab on the socket it's plugged into while pulling it out of the case
throw GPU in thrash
put new GPU in the socket till it clicks
screw the bracket screws in with fingers
put new cpu in socket & "lock" it again
apply new thermal paste on cpu
put cooler back on the same way
follow instructions to install the cooler

Not all the cards are expected to use GDDR7 memory chips, I wouldn't be surprised if the 5070Ti and below use GDDR6X.

Right now probably the 4070 Super, but if you mean Ultra including RT, the 4080 or preferably even the 4090. You can do lighter RT or older games with RT with the 4070 Super, but newer ones are going to be pushing it. You'll be running DLSS Performance, which while still decent, has image quality that's too soft in my opinion. Of course the 5080 and 5090 will be launching fairly soon, so not really the best time to buy high end graphics cards, considering you're basically buying two year old hardware

Not him, but it's not just about resolution. It's about the HDR that OLED provides. >>102551507
You can look at 1440p benchmarks as a proxy for 4K DLSS Quality performance, and 1080p benchmarks for 4K DLSS Performance... performance. There's also of course Balanced, which will give you framerates in between 1080p and 1440p

>>102551704
In new games the 4060 seems to have a significant performance advantage over the 3060. There are two drawbacks with the 4060: and x8 PCIe lane connection, and of course lesser VRAM. Those two combined can cause problems, especially if you don't have a PCIe 4.0 system. The 3060 will be more reliable if you want to think as little as possible about settings optimization and just use lower resolution DLSS, but the 4060 can get you higher framerates, especially with optimization. Of course it also has DLSS Frame Gen but that also uses more VRAM, so you have to balance the VRAM capacity in some situations. The 3060 can still use Frame Gen, but it'll be FSR Frame Gen, which is lower quality and not nearly as widely supported.
>>
>>102551704
Really depends if you need the VRAM for other tasks. In general the 4060 is better and I'd say it's only about $10-15 better. There are some VRAM heavy games like RE Village or 4 Remake, any of those RE Engine games really that eat up VRAM.

If it's really sourced from a Gigabyte meeting I'd take it with more than just a grain of salt especially only being a few weeks out. Also conceptually makes sense to at least try and steal some of the thunder from Arrow Lake's launch at the same time ahead of the holiday shopping season. It would also explain the recent retarded price hike on the 7800X3D to make the otherwise lackluster Zen 5% expected uplift on the 9800X3D seem more appealing.

I won't say I'm disappointed, but I kinda expected more out of the AW2725DF.
Looks good in general cause OLED but if you're not living in the dark or running HDR content 24/7, I don't think the difference is that big with a decent IPS or MiniLED.

When compared to my LG C1, it feels like a downgrade in every way outside of refresh rate.
Brightness is just okay in HDR. SDR content is very dim, colors look good but you have to run "uncalibrated" color modes to really feel like it's a high-end monitor in my opinion.
The sRGB mode is super accurate but so are the ones on a lot cheap monitors nowadays and it looks very much identical to my G2724D.

The motion clarity on 360hz with instant response time is absolutely insane and made the purchase worth the money for me at least (only paid like 500€).

Maybe it's just me being used to OLED displays and not really seeing the magic anymore.

Your C1 is brighter by virtue of just being a bigger panel able to throw out a higher quantity of photons.
Also the AW2725DF is only 1440p while the C1 is full 4K so the sharpness may not be apparent without normalized viewing distances.
QD-OLED has much higher color volume and purity from sharper narrow half-widths of the RGB so I'm surprised you are appreciating that more though it is somewhat content-dependent. Tried doing side-by-side A/B comparisons with quality footage?

The irony. I was simply looking to build a new PC but kept holding off since my current one worked fine and the GPUs were having funky stuff done to them. Time passes and the GPUs are now fine but I find that the MOBOs, CPUs, and OS are having issues (not the recent instability issues for the CPU but perhaps related in someway?). I end up buying rather than stalling it out again, I hate building PCs which is likely the main reason I wouldn't buy a new one. I wish I stalled out again. I'd have completely avoided an entire two gens of garbage CPUs along with all the other equipment issues I'm seeing. Faster tech but the rate of faulty tech seems to be increasing at the same time. Lends credence to the theory that the tech is becoming too big to understand which leads to stuff like this where they don't know how to fix the problem.
>>
>>102553424
If think you are having instability problems and have a 13th Gen I'd say go ahead and RMA it. Intel is dealing with so much blowback from the problem that they are in MAXIMUM DAMAGE CONTROL mode and will send you a replacement just to clear tickets. Just made sure after installing it that you immediately update your BIOS to the latest version that includes the new Microcode Patch they issues earlier in the month that will keep the new mint chip from degrading. You can also update the BIOS now before sending the RMA request or if you don't want the trouble try locking the clocks in BIOS to see if your system stabilizes.

so if you calc the latency of both those memory recommendations, they are both 10ns.

DDR4: 16*2000/3200 = 10ns
DDR5: 30*2000/6000 = 10ns

There is higher bandwidth with DDR5, which can lead to some improvement in some situations. Hard to really gauge the performance impact of DDR4 vs DDR5, as only Intel chips can use both and improvements being detectable rely on a lot of things workload, etc

Either gold or platinum Leadex VII units are great.
The gold units nearly match 80+ Platinum models in efficiency.

I don't know the reason but for a long time the best psu review site - jonnyguru - would recommend the leadex gold units and a number of the leadex gold units are very highly rated in cybenetics test suite. It would be a rare day a leadex gold psu is not worth a buy.

I need advice, what would you choose

A Lancool 216 that comes with very good fans but forces you to buy a bigger disk
Or a Lian Li A3 matx that fits in your old 90s style computer desk but forces you to buy fans?

I'm not a hardcore gamer, I'm still very satisfied with 1080p and 60 frames.

Why not just get the lancool 216 and put it on the floor?

I'd probably get the A3 mATX in your situation.
Lancool 216 is an affordable mid-tower case to fit in relatively large video cards.

Should I upgrade the GPU to a 4070 Ti Super to meet, 1440p/60 or go for a 4080 Super?

>Your C1 is brighter by virtue of just being a bigger panel able to throw out a higher quantity of photons
Yeah for sure, it's hard to compare a 55" TV with a 27" monitor in that regard. My main gripe is the SDR brightness being kinda low overall.
>Tried doing side-by-side A/B comparisons with quality footage?
Just tried it with the demo footage you posted. While I feel like there's a little more brightness out of my C1 overall, it wasn't as bad of a difference as I thought.
In fact I think the QD-OLED was definitely brighter and better looking on certain colors and highlights, especially green and purple.

Only thing I'm still mixed about are the color profiles, the sRGB mode just seems very dull for an OLED (which is fair). I'll probably experiment with DCI-P3 and other profiles a bit.

Get the 4070Ti Super.
I have a 4080 and I can easily do 3 monitors at 1440p/144Hz. Getting a 4080 and even a Super is overkill if you just want 1440/60. You can even upgrade to 3 monitors with the 4070Ti Super if you still want to stay at 1440/60.

>>102554794
I'd wait a bit longer for the 5080 specs if you're planning to spend +$800 on a video card towards the end of the RTX 40 series product cycle.
Especially if you're considering the 4080 Super.

4070 Ti Super would feel like a decent purchase if they were at least $100 off.
>>

For one monitor and one game, probably, yeah. Might have to lower settings a bit.

That's a late Feb '25 title. It's worth waiting for the 5080 then, even if it'll cost more.
Rumors are saying performance is expected to be between a 4090D and the regular 4090.

I use Amazon also. They want the same price as my local Microcenter, mid-$190's. I use eBay too, but even eBay prices are approx $190. Ali link anon posted is $135 and free shipping. But I guess if I'm willing to buy used CPU's and GPUs on eBay, isn't much more risk ordering from the bugmen.
>>

The main question is if Wilds is GPU-bound or CPU-bound to an extent like Dragons Dogma 2 is. Because their recommended CPUs are the Ryzen 3600X and the 5500, which aren't new and by no means high end.

Hey /pcbg/, so I never OC'd my 1060. Afterburner has been a breeze, but I want to fuck around with maybe undervolting the new 1080. Do I really need to run OC Scanner first to fuck with the voltage curve? Or the .cfg edit?

Follow the guide below, OC the GPU core before you set an undervolt.

The case seems to be one of the cheaper white cases.
Corsair fans and AIO are nothing special.
MSI Ventus is the reference tier model. Again, nothing special.
Overpriced ASUS ROG Strix board and Corsair RGB kit.
Overspecced 1000W PSU considering all those components.

He could've bought a 4080 Super if he didn't pay all that white, Corsair, Strix tax, and bought a more reasonable PSU.

This is something a middle schooler would build.

If it's got a decent 2TB NVMe drive, I would say the used system (excluding monitor) is worth around $1600.
The white board in that pic is probably a Strix-A board, it's for children.
I'm not expecting that guy to bundle a good monitor in the deal.

This is the kind of system you can get if you strip away all the overpriced shit.

I like C. But D could work if you have a case exhaust fan close to the metal tower. The bigger the tower the better it absorbs heat. And the more fans you have the more it can dissipate that heat.
Cheapest is A. C is most expensive. I wouldn't bother with B since you can get a similar result using A and an exhaust lose to the tower.
