Some of the subscription software I use for my side hustle has already started to enforce certain build requirements to continue operating on my PC.
Their newest version will refuse to install if you're using anything below Windows 10 22H2 (which means that using 21H2 IoT LTSC is no longer an option).
It's only a matter of time before Adobe and other Chromium-based apps (such as Chrome, Brave, Steam, Spotify, etc.) start to enforce this as well.
I don't want to "upgrade" to Windows 11 just yet, but it seems we might not have a say on this matter.

Should I go for 11 24h2 LTSC in a computer meant for office use and another meant for my little brother gaming? While I don't think there'll be an issue for the first case as it will be used for work and rendering, some games require updated builds of Windows to run (ie Forza, Halo there's more I think) in which case I think it would be better to install a normal 11 and debloat it later after install. Both are 12gen intel computers so I should go with 11

Neither qualifies for W11 normal license way? Yes for office use, maybe for the gayming. Long term support if you use W10 LTSC is also a good stretch of time in terms of how rapidly your hardware will age out. The W11 interface is different enough to be unsettling at first so you have to take that into account. W10 LTSC is a nice bareboones Windows install that you can add your own level of cruft to.

I will test both using some old spare SSDs before I install one to my NVMe drive.

Welp, so far so good. The UI is still ass but there seems to be slight improvements here and there, like the labels in the copy/paste/delete icons.
There do seem to be an improvement in performance at least for what I can percieve, at least it seems as fast as W10 on my machine with relatively old hardware but still officially supported. The File Explorer now seems to open instantly not like before when it took several seconds to even respond.
Gonna keep testing with games and see if I can percieve any real performance gainz.

i can create stuff inside the folder but when i hit delete, it only deletes the items inside.
when i try to rename the folder it says:

Anyone else having trouble installing Nvidia drivers with NVCleanstall?
I'm on a fresh install of 24H2 enterprise and was unable to install for the display driver, even after cleaning the initial driver with DDU (to remove shitty telemetry).

But if you do it the old way (just cleaning the telemetry folder before installation), it works.
Had no problem with the the previous driver; maybe they changed something during the installation process, maybe it's just a problem for 565.90...

Hope maybe someone knows what the problem is, but:
I've set some of my SATA connections on my motherboard to hot plug, and I use those connections to quickly and easily hook up hard drives for formatting, backing up etc etc. I had this same setup on my previous work PC and when I connected a drive, Windows would instantly detect and mount it automatically.
For some reason on this new PC though, I have to open Disk Management and click 'Rescan Disks' before the drive is detected.
It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it's slightly annoying to have to do this extra step each time.
Any idea why this is happening? Is it just some setting I'm missing? This is Windows 11 if that matters.

Is there a way for me to measure how long processes are taking to shutdown when I issue the normal Start > Shutdown in windows? Since about a week my Windows laptop takes much longer to shutdown and I'm worried it may be an errant process or something strange is going on. I'm hoping something can give me a report of how long each process takes or what is causing the hold up (shutdown usually takes about 30+ seconds when it used to be in between 5-10)

My Zune install broke after 15-odd years, and I can't install an older version from when the deskband still worked. What can I get to replace it? Foobar's player appears right in the center of the taskbar and Winamp's doesn't even show up.

alternatively and since this is what I need it for, I'm restoring vmware virtual machines to physical computers but those are old and only boot with MBR while vmware machines seem to be in GPT, being able to directly run/backup those machines in GPT would fix the issue also since I won't need to convert them using partition wizard

And so, after testing it last night and a few hours this morning I can say that Windows 11 24H2 is the exact same as Windows 10 22H2.
The performance is on par, no gainz or losses. Games ran the same, the explorer is fast to open now and the UI while still being horrible is at least usable.
I'll be going back to W10 LTSC but if for any reason you'd need or want W11 then you should be able to upgrade without any issues.
