If I pursue a degree in computer science will I get a job related to my major? Is computer science worth it in 2024?
>>102649929Yeah, POS terminals are basically computers nowadays, so you get to work with them in your future cashier job
>>102649929>Is computer science worth it in 2024?no, study electrical engineering or mathematics insteadit also gets you a programmer job easily, but unlike the CS dorks you can also apply for thousands of other jobs
>>102649979What kind of job can you get with a mathematics degree?
>>102649990literally any, 401k starting
>>102649990anything a CS loser can get + jobs at finance companies, insurance companies, etc
>>102650009>finance companies, insurance companiesI think I'll stick to being a CS loser.
>>102649979>mathematicsIt's not easy to get a job in CS with just a math degree. You're competing against the 100,000+ CS/SWE majors that graduate every year who have direct experience/education in building software. You are also not employable in IT jobs where as you are in CS. >>102650009>finance companies, insurance companies, etcThese jobs suck shit and aren't gate kept to only math majors. If you're talking about being a quant that's not as trivial as just possessing a math BS, you need to be a savant from a T10 school.>>102649929>will I get a job related to my majorYeah if you work hard.>Is computer science worth it in 2024?Yes as are all of this highest earning majors. None of them are easy, that's why they pay well. CS is probably the easiest (academically) to do, but this is balanced by the difficulty of interviews and breadth of information you need to know. You just have to do a lot of work on your own which is something a lot of people refuse to do.You're mostly seeing retarded people complaining right now. If you're on Reddit and see people bitching on /r/csMajors, I'd urge you to click their profile because 9/10 times they're either Indian or need a H1B. Just find the college you want to go to and look at their recent alumni on LinkedIn and check their major unemployment rates. That should inform your decision the best.
>>102649990It's a meme don't fall for it. Every math degree holder I know either teaches high school or had to get a second degree.
>>102650594>he thinks we live in meritocracy
Yeah, just dye your hair blue and change your name to Benjamin or Moishe. You'll be fine.
>>102650673No idea how you got that from my post
>>102649929Since, anyone can do your job with a "AI programming prompts for dummies", there might be work for you in the fast food industry, maintaining the robots for a minimum wage.
>>102649929Just get into cloud infraestructure and cybersecurity and code on the side
>>102650753>No idea how you got that from my postPretty sure they projected that from :>Yeah if you work hard.
>>102649929no. there is nothing more that has to be coded. coding is finished. all of the coders today have to accept this and move on.
>>102649929Pro tip: Learn Hindi & Telugu. You'll need it to stay in the field.
Fuck off, we're full. You can crash on the construction site if you want.
>>102649929You are too fucking late to the party. Simple as.
Why waste years and much shekels on a degree? Just get a job.
