so i ordered me another stick of ddr4 (kingston KF432C16BB) with 16 20 20 timings.seller sent (KF432C16BB1) instead, which has these timings 16 18 18.the system works ok for the most part, except under load i notice apps can freeze, which didn't happen with previous hardware.memtest came back with no issues. should i get a refund or stick with it?
>>103037838its running at the wrong speed, you're gonna have to set it manually in BIOS.
>>103038175are you referring to frequency or latency?
>>103038199both.downclock it to 1200mhz 18 17 17 39 to get a match.but now you have slower memory so send the thing back and get the indentical stick so you get back to XMP-3200
>>103037838That's why I only buy Crucial.
>>103038223He would be better off running the 3200 speed at 18-20-20 instead of clocking down.>>103037838Do yourself a favor and stop being cheap with your purchases.Even if that means you don't get Thing you want tomorrow. Or next month. You'll be a lot happier with your decisions.
>>103037838OP here is why your RAM will be fine with matched settings, even with unmatched sticks.Manual OC it.
>>103037838the 16-18-18 kit is nanya RAMwhat does the other slots say?
>>103038253most based post of the week awardthis setup looks like a fucking candy cane but it works great(not a good idea on DDR5, sadly)
bump.......
just match them in bios, pretty sure even the shittiest dram chips can handle 16-20-20
>>103042699>>103038969>>103038223i'll try to match them. was waiting on the seller's response, they won't be able to avail the original (KF432C16BB). i'm always leery of overclocking, but i'll give it a try while it's still returnable.originally i had 4x8gb 2400. i picked up 16 gigs few months back, then the second came in this week when it was back back in stock. hoping for a slight performance boost, but the mismatched timings threw a wrench in my plan. the system is running 3900x on asrock b450m steele legend for reference.
>>103038754>Do yourself a favor and stop being cheap with your purcha-ses.i hear you, but i have 4 computers at home that i use for rendering. an upg-rade for me is adding a new pc to the render farm, and i always che-ap out on components except for the cpu. the ram sticks particularly have been swapped between systems like a college hoe since 2016.
>>103040302um. SK Hynix?>>103042584appreciate the bump.
>>103043114>um. SK Hynix?so you're mixing RAM from two different manufacturersthat's not gonna work well
>>103040353your sub timings are weird for running quad singles and your voltages are a little unchecked for that speedAlso that practice of crushing tRWR out of step with CL and RRD is weird and yields next to no benefit for the hassle1.45v basic ass OC
>>103043186you have samsung B die while he has micron rev E. the timings are different.
>>103043186>your sub timings are weird for running quad singlesyou mean goodthey are bottomed out, lower doesn't POSTtWR/tRTP can only go lower with 1.55 V and even then i haven't gotten that fully stable (probably gets a little too hot with 4 cramped sticks and no fan) >your voltages are a little unchecked for that speedi need 1.5 V for tCL/tRP 14
>>103037838YOU MISSMATCHED RAM YOU FUCKING RETARD!YOU COULD SUFFER SEVERE DATA CORRUPTION AND DATA LOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
