For years I've been happily using the Lenovo Ideapad 3 (17'') but it broke and I need a new laptop. Can anyone recommend me one? I'm a student, not interested in gaming but I do enjoy the speed, smoothness and quality of the screen. I want something that doesn't break easily (had a terrible time with acer) and is NOT clunky.

I want to buy a battery for my old t480 is there /tpg/ approwed site or seller to buy?

Is it worth getting a 3612qe motherboard for an x230? Like, in terms of that computer, not in the grand scheme where people are spooging over 8th gen and newer.
>>
>>103253223
Maybe? The 2 to 4 core jump is pretty significant in multicore score benchmarks, if you find those to be reliable heuristics. I don't know if you net much or anything in integrated graphics performance. At any rate, depends on your use case if it's significant enough to warrant the money, as those custom boards are not cheap.

any other tips for improving battery life on newer gen stinkpad? I mean I've "optimized" based on tlp's doc, shown as below:

i want to replace my 10+ year old macbook air, and thinking about getting one of the new thinkpads.

currently looking at x13 gen4 or t14s gen4 with 7840u +32gb of (soldered) ram.
the thing I'm worried about personally is that, coming from a macbook with a retina display, I might really hate a 1920x1200 display but the oled display the thinkpads have apparently halves battery life.
is the "low res" screen a bit deal?
i thinking (hoping) 7840u + 32gb ram is probably future proof for the next 5+ years
main usecase is firefox, emacs, compilers

>>
>>103273132
the refurbished sellers typically take beatup models and flip them with minimal actual refurbishment, it's better to buy from an individual or a seller that simply resells them. Altruistic refurbishers are rare, and typically cut corners hard to make a profit
>>
>>103270928
make sure you don't get one with a TN display anon, you'll be kicking yourself
>>
>>103273132
Not really. Often "refurbishers" don't test their shit and at most take 10 seconds to wipe the previous owner's cum off the keyboard. It's not worth the 25-40% markup over some random dickhead just selling his personal used Thinkpad.

If it's "used", it's assumed to be fully functional unless clearly stated otherwise, and if it isn't eBay will side with you anyway in a dispute.
