Everything is already from China, but in here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.

1st rule of /csg/: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

dollar express package arrived
>tearable velcro cable organizer strip ($.79)
super handy, already tidied up my hell drawer of old charging cables, maybe ill clean up the cables under the desk too. probably the best thing I bought. cheapest too.
>pack of 20 split rings ($2.09)
feel solid, used them to replace some flimsy feeling keyrings around the house
>brush ($2.29)
pretty soft. used it to dust off some small models on my shelves.
>stainless steel chopsticks ($1.59)
they're chopsticks. feel pretty light, probably hollow. they're rounded while korean style metal chopsticks are usually square for better grip so I'll have to see how well the work for actual eating after I wash them. also the store page showed grooves along the tip end for texture/grip but these ones are smooth the whole length.
>bench knife / bench scraper ($1.79)
basically just a flat piece of metal with a handle. for scraping dough off cutting boards and shit. seems fine.

Don't buy chink action cams, especially if you want to film "action". I suppose for static angles at with constant, bright light they might be fine but if you want to film say, on a motorcycle, with the vibrations and bumps, changing light because of trees, tunnels and mountains, and the speed at which the surrounding shit moves, well, it's going to end up looking like shit in comparison to an older DJI or the like.

I see a lot of retailers are starting, BF this weekend. I think it's good overall. Less physical mob rush, more time for consumers to deliberate and repeat buy, better ability to restock if an item is hot selling, etc. As far as online sales, I bet they have the metrics. They sell more over the longer span of time, overcoming the older scarcity, limited opportunity, sales model of only the original BF & CM days

>dax wallet
Fuck those things. back in the day I bought them because the whole idea of a small wallet was new to me (to be fair that was before I visited aliexpress, so I overpaid for like 15-20€ each.
The plastic tabs at the end that hold the whole thing together, without fail, break after a while. It's always the same point of failure, where the fabric is sown into the plastic.

I'd say get one of those aluminium ones instead:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003119891945.html
You can get them for 2€ from bundles sometimes. The pouch is bigger, the aluminium is resilient and doesn't break, the slot out function is better than the pull tab, the metal doesn't deteriorate like fabric.
I have used mine for multiple years now without failure and enjoy it a lot. Do note that if you are like me and have the wallet and keys in the same pocket, the color will scratch and result in the silver aluminium shining through, the silver version doesn't have that problem. Doesn't change the function at all, but it doesn't look exactly pretty either.

Good ideas other than that one though

Give us some info on what you want to use it for and what you value.
Personally I have the Mi pad 6, it's really great for the price. I paid 220€ iirc for it. It has much better accessories than the other options, but they do cost more too, so in the end you pay a good bit more if you want a keyboard and pencil. Then again, the keyboard has pogo pins, so no annoying charging and connectivity issues.
If you want to go cheaper, check out the redmi pads. There's the SE, the normal one and the Pro.
I don't quite remember what each one did, but the SE was pretty stripped down, so it wasn't an option for me, but the normal one or pro I considered. Bigger screen and expandable storage were their main selling points iirc.
If you want to go even cheaper than those I'd advise you to just not bother unless you only want to use it for tachiyomi or some shit, eventually you really notice the worse processor.
>>
>>103268258
essentially yeah just tachiyomi and note taking (not really sure if the app itself makes a difference though, i'm looking at one note for syncing but i'm open to suggestions), if i can get under 200 for tablet + case + good pen it'd be gucci
>>
>>103268320
Then you'll have a free pick pretty much, neither of these is intensive. The expandable storage on the redmi pads might even be better than the mi pad, if you download series in tachiyomi for offline reading it adds up quickly and a micro sd card is a lot cheaper than a bigger storage tablet.
The only thing you'll have to accept is that the keyboards for redmi pads are all third party, so it's gonna be a crappy plastic-y bluetooth keyboard. Then again while a lot better the mi pad keyboard isn't exactly perfection to type on either. It's just one more thing to keep charged up.
You'll have to look for yourself if you can get away with the SE or want the base model, I don't quite remember the difference it makes (I seem to vaguely remember it was a decent difference though, bigger than the jump to the pro for sure).
I seem to be able to get the SE for 120€ locally and 150€ for the base model. On Ali I see everything from 106-130€ for the SE, and I can't easily see base models. No idea how legit the listings are I'm not in the mood to do a deep dive right now, so do your due dilligence.
Do pay attention that there's a normal SE version and a 8.7 inch version, don't get fucked over by that.

The generic bluetooth Keyboard cases add another 15-20€.
Generic pencils can be had for 5-10€ but those are usually pretty ass. For a genuine one you'll have to spread your buttcheeks and pay a good 60€ for the genuine smart pen (I think you need a redmi smart pen, they are not interchangeable with the xiaomi ones), maybe you can find it for 50 elsewhere.
There's also redmi compatible ones for cheaper, no idea how well those work.

Keep in mind there's black friday coupons, so you can save another 20-30 from those total.
Should be able to barely overshoot your 200€ goal with the base one and undershoot it for the SE version. If you get a worse pen and pray it works decent even cheaper.
But do your own research, it's been a while since I last checked all this stuff
>>
>>103268320
>i'm looking at one note for syncing
Forgot to add to the hardware advice in >>103268421 , they are all android, so all of them will work. One note is pretty popular, especially if you want to take freehand notes.
Personally I take most my notes in text (markdown usually) for which there's many apps too. I currently use obsidian on the tablet and pc, but am considering logseq or zettlr, but no idea how their android versions are or if they even have any.
Either way I use syncthing to sync my notes and data between pc, homeserver and tablet, but I am also one of those schizoid people who care about data ownership and don't like using microsoft servers for my notes. If you don't care about any of that, my way of doing things is probably not worth the additional steps for you.

>still no sale on either of them

also, looking into pens, it looks like if i don't buy the big dick ones the other ones are basically no different than a DS stylus
also also, none of them come with a charger?
>>
>>103268544
>also, looking into pens, it looks like if i don't buy the big dick ones the other ones are basically no different than a DS stylus
Well the really cheap ones are passive, so yeah, like a ds stylus. So no variable pressure sensor and all that stuff, it's basically like using your fingers, except you get to hold a stick instead.
>also also, none of them come with a charger?
The official redmi one iirc has USB-C charging, so you plug it in the same way you would a phone or tablet. The xiaomi one for the mi pad has inductive charging, so you can magnetically attach it to the side of the tablet and it charges from the tablet battery, very convenient.
Any "compatible" pen that doesn't have a way to charge it (usb-c/inductive/internal batteries) is passive and therefore ds tier. Induction is out for the redmi pad because it doesn't offer that, and I haven't seen internal batteries for redmi pens either, but I have seen it on my lenovo pen for my laptop.
I'd say if it doesn't have at least USB-C charging, assume it's passive and thus ds tier.
If it does have USB-C charging, that still doesn't mean it supports all the stuff of the genuine one, but at least there's nothing technically stopping it from offering these features.
>>
>>103268592
>>103268544
Also do make sure the redmi smart pen is compatible with the SE and base variants, the mi site only lists it as an accessory for the pro variant. No idea if that's because they want to upsell or because the other versions can't support it.
>>
>>103268592
wait the charger question was for tablets, i kinda am willing to spend a bit more if the tablet does come with a good charger
>>
>>103268620
Oh I assumed it was about the pen.
Honestly, no idea which one comes with what.
I can tell you that the mi pad 6 does come with a 33W xiaomi charging brick with USB-A out, but I mostly use my own brick because it has 2 USB-C outs, so I can charge tablet and phone at the same time.

The SE lists a power supply as part of the delivery package on the official mi site but doesn't specify what that means, the normal one only lists "adapter", which probably also means it's a power supply but who knows.
You can see all that on mi.com when you look up the items.

this has just arrived >>103177302, took a bit longer than usual, probably because of the whole 11.11 congestion
anyway, pic related is the internal grinding wheels of both types of grinders, they are the same. it seems to actually be ceramic, or at least some sort of ceramic, it does clink like ceramic, i bet this is the same ceramic used on high wattage resistors. even tho the short type has a glass container, instead of plastic, i actually like the other "dual" grinder one better, despite its plastic body. both types work quite well.
the digital thermometers actually came with a battery on them (with a plastic strip preventing it from powering the device during transit). it seems to take a measure every 10 seconds or so, takes some time to stabilize. i open one up and its just one of those bare ceramic pcb traces relative humidity sensors that you find inside the plastic of dht22 modules. weirdly the decoupling capacitor leading to one of the legs had the substrate around it routed out (filtering the dc causes it to heat up and skew readings?!? not sure). there is also two unnamed soic16 chips and not much else, one of the chips seems to be handling the lcd and the other the sensor, kinda weird setup, maybe its done like this to save battery as much as possible.
the rest is not that interesting, but ask away if you want to know about anything else.
oh and the gemstone detector needs to be used with an completely isolated power source (like the 9v battery it requires). any sort of ac coupling, no matter how tiny, completely wrecks the reading once you touch the back side, which you need to do
>>
>>103268668
thanks for the link, i'm now wondering if i'm better off buying it from the site itself rather than aliexpress or amazon
also, you said before
>>103268258
>but the SE was pretty stripped down, so it wasn't an option for me
what do you mean by that? Cause i can't find the normal one at all and my experience with xiaomi "pro" line on phones is that the pro ones are actually worse cause they have mediatek shit (though maybe better camera or whatever, but i don't care about that)
>>
> didn't buy the item i wanted on 11/11 because i was waiting for black friday

> its double the price now so i can't buy anymore

Oh god why...
>>
>>103268749
>what do you mean by that? Cause i can't find the normal one at all
It's been so long I don't really remember why I felt that way, just that I did. I think it was from some review of the two primarily and it came down to processing power, but when I look at their site the differences seem a lot less big than I'd have thought, then again I'm only looking at clock speed, cores and ram, and those don't show the whole picture. Interestingly both the SE and the pro version seem to use qualcom processors, while the normal one has a mediatek one.
Sorry I can't be of more help but it's been half a year since I looked at this stuff, so all that remains is the rough vibes. Also do pay attention to size, as that will influence how far battery capacity carries you and how portable they are. They'll still be smaller than a laptop most of the time, but personally I find 11 inch to be the sweet spot for both productive work and chilling in bed reading tachiyomi. IIRC the pros were a lot bigger which I think would be annoying when used in bed or on a couch.
>>
>>103268726
Ironically I have never seen a plastic burr set on chinese grinders, only on those western shit ones that come prefilled in supermarkets. Every chinese one seems to use a ceramic conical burr like in your pic. It's not as long lasting or sharp as a proper metal burr set, but for pepper and such it's more than enough and stupid cheap to replace.

I don't think buying pads through aliexpress is really worth it, unless you're looking for something that doesn't exist in the west, like the xiaoxin pad pro. The prices on brick and mortar stores are pretty close to ali, and you get worry-free 3 year warranty in the Soviet Eurunion.
>>
>>103268975
>The prices on brick and mortar stores are pretty close to ali
That's the thing though, that's not universally true. Sure for the mi pad 6 I got that was just 30€ difference, but if you factor in the accessories, it ends up at maybe 70€ difference. That's more than enough for me to take the risk with the warranty, but that's a personal question of how risk adverse someone is.
